U

K-based hotels successfully recorded a 0.2 percent year-on-year TrevPAR increase during the month, which was due to increases across all revenue departments, including rooms (0.4 percent), food and beverage (0.2 percent) and conference and banqueting (3.6 percent). The room’s revenue growth at UK hotels throughout February was driven by a 1.3 percent achieved average room rate increase and was in spite of a 0.6 percent room occupancy decline. “It has been a tough start to this year for hotels in the UK. Now may be the perfect time for hoteliers to consider an alternative strategy, which focusses on searching for opportunities to increase non-rooms revenues, as well as preserving profit levels by reducing costs,” remarked Pablo Alonso, CEO, HotStats.

This compares to 9.8 percent growth for China, 6.2 percent for the UK, seven percent for Spain, and 5.5 percent for Canada.
