Mauritius The tropical island of Mauritius is best known for its luxury hotels on white sand beaches with volcanic mountain backdrops. It is an island for exploring, with Indian temples, colonial houses, botanical gardens, and opportunities to spot rare birds or fauna, horse ride or swim with dolphins. Mauritians are renowned for their hospitality and visitors to the islands generally wax lyrical about the service. Plentiful water sports, world class spas, top-class golf courses and gourmet cuisine make it hard to leave the gorgeous resorts, but Mauritius has plenty to see and do - from French colonial houses and imaginative animal parks to nature walks, quad biking, sightseeing and horse riding. The northern regions offer the best combination of beaches, cuisine and nightlife. Further west, the capital, Port Louis, is famed for its waterfront complex of restaurants, shops and casinos, as well as the colonial-era central market. The east coast hosts some of Mauritius’ most famous hotels and arguably the most beautiful white sand beaches, while the flat, calm beaches of the west side are favoured by families.

Room Categories Room category terminology, detailed in this brochure, have not been created by Travelbeam, but are set by each individual hotel or hotel management company. It is therefore inevitable that one hotel’s ‘Deluxe Room’ will differ to another and likewise the term ‘Ocean View’ is often used but this can mean that a room has a partial or side sea-view or full sea-view, depending upon the particular hotel.

Safety standards are set by each country and therefore may not be equivalent to those of the UK and, in some cases, could be lower. We recommend that particular care and caution should be taken with regard to fire safety, balconies, lifts, stairways and swimming pools where local compliance may not be to the British Standard. Many hotels do not have lifeguards on duty and some may have signs indicating that swimming is at your own risk. Please always act responsibly, particularly with children, as the depth and design of swimming pools vary. We recommend that you familiarise yourself with the accommodation safety regulations as soon as you check in.

Financial Security
The standard international practice is to let rooms from midday to midday. However times do vary. Check-in times are usually between 2pm and 3pm, check-out times between 11am and 12 noon on the day of departure. Therefore, if you check-in immediately after a night flight this would count as one night’s accommodation. Similarly if your return flight is at night you will normally be required to vacate your room at 12 noon prior to leaving for the airport. Day rooms are subject to availability / cost and should be arranged locally with the hotel management. Where an early check-in or late check-out is required we highly recommend that an extra night’s accommodation is reserved at the time of booking.
