Think of the Algarve in Southern Portugal and most people think of its endless beaches and fabulous climate, which is mild in winter and yet cooled by sea breezes in the heat of summer. However there is much more to the Algarve than just sun and sea. It has a unique charm which derives from the warmth of its people, its Moorish influence and the rich diversity of its majestic landscapes.
Portugal’s beautiful coastlines are characterised by miles of superb sandy beaches, pretty fishing villages with winding narrow streets and some of Europe’s best golf courses. Further inland you will find idyllic white-washed Moorish towns that shimmer in the sunlight over olive and orange groves and brightly coloured, verdant hillsides.
The area is home to some of Europe’s most established luxury resorts which have excellent facilities and settings. A haven for sports enthusiasts, you can enjoy all manner of activities from golfing on the championship golf courses to sailing, surfing and water-skiing to a day at the world class tennis clubs.
Flight Time: Approximately 3 hours to Faro Airport (direct from London, Manchester, Birmingham and most other regional UK airports).
Weather: A hot Mediterranean climate which is tempered by the cooling breezes of the Atlantic Ocean. During spring and summer months you can expect sunny and dry conditions. Winter months are mild but subject to rain.

Passports, Visas & Vaccinations
Your specific passport and visa requirements, and other immigration requirements are your responsibility. We do not accept any responsibility if you cannot travel because you have not complied with any passport, visa or immigration requirements. Generally, a full ten year passport is required for travel to all destinations for British Citizens (valid for six months from your return date to the UK). Generally all children now require their own passport. If in doubt we recommend that you check with UK Passport Agency www.passport.gov.uk.
Holders of non-British Citizen passports are strongly advised to check with the relevant authorities to clarify what documents are required. In certain countries it is recommended or on occasion obligatory to have vaccinations prior to entry (particularly if travelling from an infected area). As regulations change frequently you should check with the Department of Health for the most up-to-date information. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office provides information covering all aspects of travel overseas www.fco.gov.uk/knowbeforeyougo.
N.B. For air tickets the name on the passport must match the name on the ticket exactly otherwise you may not be permitted to travel.
Health & Safety
Safety standards are set by each country and therefore may not be equivalent to those of the UK and, in some cases, could be lower. We recommend that particular care and caution should be taken with regard to fire safety, balconies, lifts, stairways and swimming pools where local compliance may not be to the British Standard. Many hotels do not have lifeguards on duty and some may have signs indicating that swimming is at your own risk. Please always act responsibly, particularly with children, as the depth and design of swimming pools vary. We recommend that you familiarise yourself with the accommodation safety regulations as soon as you check in.

Although, as we depend on our suppliers we cannot offer any guarantee that your requirement will be met. We cannot accept any booking that is conditional upon a special request being met.
Room Categories
Room category terminology, detailed in this brochure, have not been created by Travelbeam, but are set by each individual hotel or hotel management company. It is therefore inevitable that one hotel’s ‘Deluxe Room’ will differ to another and likewise the term ‘Ocean View’ is often used but this can mean that a room has a partial or side sea-view or full sea-view, depending upon the particular hotel.
Check-In & Check-Out
The standard international practice is to let rooms from midday to midday. However times do vary. Check-in times are usually between 2pm and 3pm, check-out times between 11am and 12 noon on the day of departure. Therefore, if you check-in immediately after a night flight this would count as one night’s accommodation.
Similarly if your return flight is at night you will normally be required to vacate your room at 12 noon prior to leaving for the airport. Day rooms are subject to availability/ cost and should be arranged locally with the hotel management. Where an early check-in or late check-out is required we highly recommend that an extra night’s accommodation is reserved at the time of booking.
Child Care
Many of the hotels we feature in this brochure offer crèche facilities, children’s clubs and baby-sitting services. The standard of these facilities varies from hotel to hotel and we cannot offer any guarantees that recognised qualifications are held or that staff used are English speaking. Crèches and children’s clubs featured in this brochure are under the control of the hotel’s management and we do not accept any responsibility for the health, safety or welfare of any child whilst using these facilities. Please note that not all of these facilities and clubs are free or supervised and their operation may be subject to demand or minimum/ maximum numbers.
Dress Code
Most luxury hotels expect guests to dress appropriately, in general casual attire during the day and smart casual in the evenings is acceptable. In some of the finer hotel restaurants a jacket and tie is required and during Gala events at special times of the year a dinner jacket may also be required.
