hrill to young virtuoso pianists from around the world at the 22nd Waring International Piano Competition. Contestants are broken into two age groups; Junior (pianists through age 12) and Intermediate (pianists ages 13 through 17). This biennial event is viewed as an important springboard for future stars of the solo, chamber and orchestral piano concert arena. More than forty contestants from around the world, representing seven countries will compete for scholarships and national performance opportunities. Past winners have earned performance opportunities in Vienna, London, Rome, Carnegie Hall (NYC), Florida, Denver, Snowmass, San Francisco, as well as Palm Springs and Palm Desert. Contestants participate in both solo and concerto events as well as Master Classes in each age category. The event is open to the public with most afternoon and evening sessions free and held at two venues; the Indian Wells Theater at the California State University, San Bernardino - Palm Desert Campus and at the McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert. Moderately priced tickets are required for the solo finals on March 30 and the Concerto Finals with the Waring Festival Orchestra, on April 1. he ANA Inspiration is golf ’s first major and one of the LPGA Tour’s most prestigious events. Previously known as the Kraft Nabisco Championship, the tournament was founded in 1972 by David Foster and Dinah Shore and earned the designation as a major championship in 1983. The 2019 ANA Inspiration is set for a major field with 26 major champions including every major champion from the last five years and 11 past champions confirmed for Mission Hills Country Club, April 4 – 7.
