Holiday Spirit Shines At The Living Desert’s 26th Annual WildLights

This Holiday Spectacular Kicks off the Festive Season November 23

T

his year, WildLights at The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens is celebrating 26 years of dazzling guests by transforming the zoo into a sparkling winter wonderland. This festive, annual tradition kicks off Friday, November 23 with festivities from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and continues on select nights through December 24. Tickets are on sale now. Presented by the H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation, WildLights at The Living Desert features more than a million colorful, twinkling holiday lights and light displays with decorations, festivities and holiday cheer spread throughout the zoo.

Guests will enjoy a herd of life-size, luminescent animal lanterns including giraffe and cheetahs, explore newly added pathways and stroll through the always-popular tunnel of lights ashing to holiday music. A visit with Santa Claus tops the list of attractions, plus nightly animal encounters and keeper chats, camel and carousel rides, entertainment, and more. Children and adults alike will be in awe of the festive G-scale model trains with more than 3,300 feet of track, all decked out for the holidays. Delicious food and beverages will also be available for purchase. Admission to WildLights is $12 for adults, $10 for members,

They ride on a trail system through a permit with the BLM on the Meccacopia Special Recreation Management Area (including the Mecca Hills and Orocopia Mountains), just south of Joshua Tree National Park. This is desert trail riding, not sand dunes.

The Trails are sandy or hardpack sand, with shrubs and cactus on either side of the trail. ATV tours are a minimum of two hours each, offered in Viking 6 (seats 5-6) and Viking 3 (seats 2-3) vehicles. They usually drive as the professional, however, if you have someone in the group that has experience driving side by side ATVs and is 21, they may drive the vehicle.
