WHITE RIVER If a person walking along the west fork of the White River, a waterway that traverses Indiana, allows their mind to wander, they might envision one of our Native American ancestors paddling their canoe on the quiet current. The ancient waters of the White River have stories to tell.

Falls Park, a lovely bit of nature in the town of Pendleton, is home to the “falls” of Fall Creek. By the creek are trails to explore, shallows to wade in, playgrounds, and even wide open spaces for your favorite canine to play in Falls Bark Dog Park.

Out in the Country
The Crabby Apple Family Orchard & Market
Smith Family Farms Pumpkin Patch
The term “farm to table” has been a catch phrase for all things fresh in recent years. In Madison County, from Alexandria to Pendleton to Markleville, the term takes on additional meaning. Smith Family Farms Market, The Hodge Family Farm, and The Crabby Apple Orchard and Market not only provide the best in produce, fresh meats and delectable baked goods, they offer families a way to experience farm life. Being in the fresh air with sweet farm animals to pet, sunflowers to sniff, hay wagons to ride in, pumpkins to pick, and apple cider to drink gives life for those living in the city a different perspective. Another country road will take you to the Madison County Winery. Born from a hobby with wines served to friends, now a great variety of wines are offered for all. These are good reasons to take a ride in the country, find the fresh, and make some memories!
