Day 1, Thursday 4th: Arrive Christchurch (D)

Depart from Brisbane on your flight to Christchurch. On arrival into Christchurch you will be met by a Grand Pacific Tours representative and transferred to your hotel. This evening enjoy a complimentary pre-dinner drink as you meet your travelling companions.

Day 2, Friday 5th: Christchurch - Akaroa - Christchurch (B)

After an introductory city sights tour, enjoy a scenic drive to the historic French village of Akaroa, with time to wander through the charming galleries and craft stores. This afternoon set off on a Nature Cruise in the hope of spotting the rare Hector’s Dolphin and keep an eye out for penguins and other sea birds. Following your cruise, return to Christchurch where the evening is free to dine at one of the city’s many restaurants.

Day 3, Saturday 6th: Christchurch - Moana - Hokitika (B, SL, D)

This morning board the TranzAlpine, renowned as one of the great train journeys of the world. Travel over massive viaducts, river valleys and spectacular gorges before descending through the Otira Tunnel to Moana, on the banks of picturesque Lake Brunner. Enjoy lunch at Kingfisher Restaurant, before travelling to the Brunner Mine Site, the location of the 1896 mine explosion. This afternoon in the coastal town of Hokitika, visit a local gallery, for the opportunity to pick up a gift or souvenir.

Day 4, Sunday 7th: Hokitika - Punakaiki (B, SL, D)

Today, take in the natural beauty of the Hokitika Gorge on a short walk descending through the hardwood forest that will lead you to a swing bridge which crosses the Hokitika River. Continue north to Greymouth, home of Monteith’s Brewing Co. where you will sample locally brewed beers over lunch. This afternoon travel along the Great Coast Road to the world-famous Punakaiki Pancake Rocks and Blowholes.

Day 5, Monday 8th: Punakaiki - Nelson (B, D)

Journey north along the coast to Tauranga Bay and Cape Foulwind, named by Captain Cook in 1770 when he encountered nasty weather. A short walk along the rocky headland will showcase the rugged coastline and sea life often on show amongst the rocks. Travel inland via the Buller Gorge and Murchison to Nelson, one of the sunniest cities in New Zealand. This afternoon enjoy an orientation tour of the city followed by a visit to the Nelson Classic Car Museum where you will marvel at an incredible collection of iconic cars.

Day 6, Tuesday 9th: Nelson - Abel Tasman National Park - Nelson (B, SL)

Travel to Kaiteriteri, gateway to the Abel Tasman National Park and join a cruise along the parks’ picturesque coastline. At Anchorage Bay a barbeque lunch will be served. Re-join your coach and depart for Nelson via the vineyards. This evening is free for you to dine at one of the local restaurants in town.

Day 7, Wednesday 10th: Nelson - Blenheim (B, SL, D)

Today travel via Havelock and the wine-growing region of Marlborough. Visit the Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre, home to one of the largest private collections of WW1 Aircraft, brought to life in sets created by the internationally acclaimed WingNut Films and Weta Workshop. Head back into town where you will enjoy lunch at a local Blenheim beer garden before a short drive to Cloudy Bay Estate. Established in 1985, Cloudy Bay was one of the original wineries in the region. Enjoy a personalised tasting experience followed by time to wander through the superb, manicured grounds and towering gum trees, which will surely be a highlight.

Day 8, Thursday 11th: Blenheim - Marlborough Sounds - Blenheim (B, SL)

Enjoy a leisurely start to the day before travelling to Picton where time is available to explore this picturesque port. Board a luxury vessel at Picton Marina and cruise the spectacular Queen Charlotte Sound to Furneaux Lodge whilst enjoying the informative commentary on this stunning region. At Furneaux Lodge a delicious lunch will be served followed by time to enjoy the peaceful surroundings. There is access to kayaks and short walks around the property. On the return cruise to Picton a cheese platter featuring local produce is served accompanied by a glass of Marlborough wine, the perfect end to your Marlborough Sounds adventure. Board the coach for the short journey back to Blenheim where the evening is free to dine at one of the local restaurants.

Day 9, Friday 12th: Blenheim - Kaikõura (B, D)

Farewell the Marlborough region and journey to Kaikõura. Visit the Kaikõura Museum, which features an exhibition depicting the impact of the 2016 earthquake. This afternoon you may like to experience a scenic flight (optional, weather permitting) over the coastline to see the many species of whales that migrate through this area.

Day 10, Saturday 13th: Kaikõura - Christchurch (B, SD)

Depart Kaikõura and head to Christchurch to visit the International Antarctic Centre, designed to provide an informative account of life in Antarctica. This evening reminisce on the memories shared with your new friends at the farewell dinner which includes selected beverages.

Day 11, Sunday 14th: Depart Christchurch (B)

Time to say goodbye. You will be transferred to the airport for your flight home after a memorable New Zealand holiday.

TRANZALPINE

The TranzAlpine rail journey is an iconic New Zealand adventure - voted one of the most scenic train journeys in the world. The highlight section of this journey is travelling the edges of the ice-fed Waimakariri River (spectacular ice-blue in colour), including the impressive Staircase Viaduct, 75 metres above the river waters. TranzAlpine’s world-class carriages are designed to show off the stunning scenery - centrally heated/ air-conditioned with wide side and roof windows, and open-air viewing decks.

ABEL TASMAN NP CRUISE

Sit back and relax on this cruise that takes you from lovely Kaiteriteri Beach on full, scenic journey through Abel Tasman National Park. Explore the coastline and discover secluded beaches and bays from the comfort of the boat. Learn about the history of the park and what makes it such a special place to visit. Hear commentary about the region and its inhabitants. The cruise is the best way to experience Abel Tasman National Park, while encountering some of the local wildlife.

Akaroa Harbour is a prime location for the rare Hector’s dolphins. Easily spotted by their distinguishable rounded dorsal fins, the Hector’s dolphins are only found in New Zealand waters. Watch while they ride the bow putting on a spectacular show for you.

QUEEN CHARLOTTE SOUND CRUISE

Enjoy some free time in Picton before boarding a luxury vessel. Spend your afternoon cruising past isolated bays, with a unique route on offer each day. Enjoy the informative commentary on this stunning region, and benefit from the skipper’s help spotting the wildlife that frequent these waterways. Reach the Furneaux Lodge for a specialty lunch. Explore the grounds, do a short walk or simply drink in the views unti it’s time to cruise back to Picton.

DEPOSIT AND FINAL PAYMENT

The deposit $600pp is accepted as a first instalment of the tour cost and is not refundable. A detailed invoice is sent out to all passengers booked on the tour, approximately two weeks prior to due date of the final payment. Final payment for the tour needs to be received by 12th January 2024.

CANCELLATION FEES

If it is necessary for you to cancel your holiday, notification of cancellation must be received in writing. Cancellation charges will apply: up to 12 weeks prior to departure - loss of deposit; less than 8 weeks - up to full tour cost. No refund is available for cancellation of the tour or any service not used after commencement of the tour. Deposits are non-transferable.

PRICES

Tour prices stated on the tour brochure has been calculated on the basis of exchange rates and tariffs valid at time of print and are subject to change up until final payment for the tour has been received. Once final payment is received, no surcharges will apply. Should you decide to cancel your tour on the basis of a change of price, then normal cancellation charges will apply.

All receipts, tickets, vouchers, coupons or exchange orders are issued subject to the terms and conditions under which transportation and other services are provided. Travel Masters and/or its associated companies or Agents assume no responsibility for loss, injury, accident, delay or damage or irregularity that may be caused to person or property, however caused arising before commencement and/or during any tour under its management, sponsorship, procurement or otherwise. All tickets, deposit tickets, coupons or orders are furnished and issued subject in all respects to those terms and conditions under which the means of transportation or other services provided there by are offered or supplied by owners, public carriers, or managing agents. The issuance and acceptance of receipts, tickets, vouchers, coupons, or exchange orders shall be deemed consent to the above conditions. The tour is based on flights as detailed in the itinerary, however any other IATA or non-IATA carrier may be used for tour co-ordination. UNAVOIDABLE AND EXTRAORDINARY CIRCUMSTANCES (FORCE MAJEURE)

Force Majeure - Travel Masters & The Travel Studio shall not be liable for any loss or damage incurred by you as a consequence of our agency or any of the suppliers being unable to perform its obligations under your contract(s) due to the unusual or unforeseeable circumstances (a “force majeure event”) beyond the control of the party affected by the force majeure event. The can include (but not be limited to) threat of war, industrial action, act of God, government enforced travel restrictions, riot, political unrest, global pandemic or natural disaster. Should your travel arrangements be cancelled due to an Force Majeure event and a refund offered by the supplier(s) involved in your travel arrangements, Travel Masters & The Travel Studio retains the ability to deduct from any returned funds reasonable costs and/or the remuneration earned as part of the booking procedure and our continued service.
