This is your chance to experience the golden age of travel aboard the privately chartered heritage 621/721 Rail Motor on a delightful journey all the way to Brisbane! With stops along the way to take in the sights you’ll enjoy an overnight stay on the banks of the Clarence River in Grafton, with dinner included at the heritage Crown Hotel. A stay in Brisbane allows you to explore the river city including the South Bank precinct.

You’ll then sail back to Sydney in style aboard the beautiful Sun Princess. This will be a thrilling trip of more than 2,000 kilometres, a unique and authentic heritage rail and sail journey, never before offered.

After an overnight stay in central Sydney you’ll board your privately chartered heritage train in Sydney for a 2-day exploration all the way to Brisbane. The 621/721 Rail Motor was built in Sydney in 1962 to service the Hunter region, and unlike trains of today has windows that open, allowing you to better take in your surroundings. The staff will be available to tell you about the history of the Rail Motor, its restoration and return to heritage service. You will also be invited to visit the driver’s cabin to see just how the driver and guard ‘drive the train’.

The delightful countryside and towns of the NSW north coast are a feature of this truly unique tour. After heading north from Maitland, you’ll stop at the home of the Rail Motor Society at Paterson for morning tea, with time to visit other rail motors in the collection. Continuing north through ever changing countryside, you’ll stop at Taree for lunch, with plenty of time to stretch your legs. By mid afternoon you’ll reach Kempsey for another short stop and afternoon tea. Tonight you’ll will stop in Grafton, situated on the delightful Clarence River, just in time for the famous local jacarandas to be in bloom.

Transfer to your motel. Dinner will be served at the nearby historic Crown Hotel, on the banks of the river.

After a good night’s rest, you’ll rejoin the 621/721 and head for Casino for morning tea before crossing the border into Queensland, a rare occurrence for any heritage train. On arrival at Brisbane’s Roma Street Station, you’ll transfer to your hotel. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure to explore the delights of the river city. Tonight enjoy dinner on the Brisbane River aboard the Kookaburra Queen.

After breakfast the following day, you will join your coach for a panoramic transfer of some local sights on your way to board Sun Princess. Over the next 3 nights you’ll have plenty of time to relax or enjoy a meal at Curtis Stone’s restaurant ‘Share’. There is even a stop at Newcastle, where you might choose to visit the nearby Hunter Valley vineyards. This is an exclusive, unique and fascinating journey where all you have to do is relax, make friends and enjoy.
