Give Us c Moment WHEN CONVERSATIONS TURN TO outsiZe moments-the I-just-didn't-realize instant when your relationship with the natural world pivots and forever expands-Canada is one of those destinations that delivers those breakthrough moments, repeatedly.
II vorr're lrrrkv vorr'r,e collected at least one of those goosebump moments that. perhaps, left you transformed. Indeed, these revelatory flashes are why a large number of us chase adventure and why travel can be so consuming. And yet, few things are more difncult to convey than the essence of those riveting, unpredictable epiphanies. They're sort of like rrying to keep clear. glacral water from slrpprng through your fingers. In trying to trap these peak moments. the Canadian Tourism Commission recently launched its Signature Experiences Collection-a coast-to-coast campaign aimed at rounding up exceptional experiences that will leave high-spending travellers gobsmacked. A handful ofthose peak adventures include the buggy trek up to the top of the Columbia Icefields in Jasper National Park, an overnight
in Quebec City's Ice Hotei. a lobster cruise in New Brunswlck's Shediac Bay and polar bear tours in Churchill. MB. In this issue of up1. we asked our writers the same-give us a peak moment, some stLlnning activity or adventure that speaks to Canada and autumn and our wonder with it all. The result begins on page 52 with a fall chase that whisks us from hikes to bike rides, jigs and ziplines while fusing some of Canada's most colourful spots with flat-out adventures. The issue cLllminates on page 62 with a splendid gaze at one of Mother Nature's biggest blockbusters-the northern lights. marvelled from the outskirts of Yeliowknife. Other blockbusters include this month's Value Gr-ride to Fllm Fes tivals on page 25, and two new sectiolls-ln the Field (pg. 20) and Rrief Cacc lnn l2\ The first r< a rnrrndrrn nt crrcnr< flri.k v.l rHY ^ncnind< bites and travel news.
