W
elcome to Latin America, one of the most exotic continents with glorious and spectacular sceneries – from evergreen jungles and sun scorched deserts to dazzling peaks and glaciers.
Many of the countries are dotted with ruins of bygone empires and lost civilizations and the music, markets and melodramas of everyday life provide a real time theater for the traveler in a place where life is lived to the fullest. In this brochure, you will find inspirational journeys that we have compiled and perfected using our knowledge and experience gained over the last 15 years. Our small group departures are perfect for the traveler who wants to have an insight into the life, land and history of the highlights of the continent, in the company of a group. We offer two departures a year. Our independent tours allow you to travel at your own pace, choose the places you want to go to with the convenience of having local bilingual guides assisting you all the way from the time you arrive to the time you leave. These tours are for travelers who want to meet local people, attend fiestas, look in at quirky bars, museums and take you one step further to discover something different. This time, we have split the content into 3 brochures as Latin America is such a huge continent (Approximately 4.5 bigger than Europe): South America, another one for Mexico, Caribbean & Central America and our third brochure is dedicated to Antarctica. To help you to get the best out of your trip, we have a team of well travelled and enthusiastic travel advisors that will suggest the best known highlights and the secrets we have discovered during our trips‌ Kind regards, Ed Garcia & Hanna Shilo Co-Managing Directors

Originally built in the style of the Belle Époque, the mansion served as a seaside retreat during the presidency of Augusto Leguia in the 1920s. Its architectural features and flair capture the celebratory spirit of Peru’s centennial, which permeated life in the capital city throughout the era of its construction. Famed French architect Claude Sahut, lauded for his work remodeling portions of the Government Palace, along with many of Lima’s main avenues, parks, theaters and other public buildings and spaces, was originally commissioned to design the property as a summer retreat for the Garcia Bedoya family. Construction was completed in 1914.

Responsible Travel
Responsible Travel What is responsible travel? In recent years ‘Responsible Travel’ has become a very familiar term, but what is it? To put it simply, it is our responsibility to ensure we offer holidays that are sensitive to the environments and communities you visit, and it is your responsibility as a traveller to ensure you tread carefully, respecting local laws and customs and avoiding any negative impact on the local environment. Our responsibility To us, Responsible Tourism is nothing new. Ever since we started in 1999, we have believed that it’s our responsibility to do all we can to protect the places to which we send clients and to ensure that as much as possible of the money spent filters through to local economies. We, and everyone we ask to deliver services to you, take pride in offering responsible holidays with minimal impact on the environment, support for community development and ensuring good working conditions. We relay our RT policy to all of our suppliers and they in turn sign an agreement of best practice. How you can get involved Clients often ask us what they can do to ensure they travel responsibly. The following is best practice: Before you go.. Learn something about the countries you plan to visit to find out about the culture, politics, geography, religion and local customs. Try and remove unnecessary packaging from any products you are taking with you, and dispose of it at home first. Recycling has yet to really take off in Latin America so the less you leave the better! Whilst on your travels .. In the market… Buy local handicrafts and support local artisans. When bargaining, remember that a small saving for you could make a big difference for the seller. Don’t buy ancient artifacts or anything made with endangered animals or plants e.g. hardwoods, shells, exotic feathers, coral, furs or eggs. Eating out... Choose smaller local restaurants, bars and cafes where possible so your money benefits local people. Sample the local cuisine using local produce. Out and about... Remember to respect local traditions and culture. Ask permission before photographing indigenous people and events, particularly religious processions. Ask for an address and send photos to the people you photographed, many won’t have photos of their families. Simple gifts for children, such as crayons, balloons, colouring books or even a mini football can bring a huge smile to a child’s face. Resist handing out sweets as dental care is, mostly, poor. Giving money to children on the street only encourages begging; instead consider donating to schools or local conservation or charitable organisations. Speaking with people… Why not try and learn some of the lingo? Speaking a few words of the local language, even if it is just ‘hola’ or ‘gracias’, will change the way people react to you. You’ll get a much warmer welcome and this in turn can enrich your experience and interaction with the local people. Traditions and ways of life differ greatly across the cultures of Latin America. As a rule of thumb, people in lowland regions are more gregarious and relaxed than those who live a more austere life in the mountains, and many Latin Americans are modest and camera-shy. Please try to be sensitive to local customs. The pace of life outside the main cities is slower than in Australia, and you may have to draw on your reserves of patience in some situations. There is still widespread poverty in many countries: you may like to consider taking clothes, shoes or toys with you that you might be happy to leave behind. Minimise your environmental impact… Stick to the paths and walkways whether you are in the jungle, on a mountain trek or in a Mayan ruin. They are there for your safety and also to preserve the local wildlife and help to avoid further erosion of the landscape. In your hotel… Clean water is a precious resource, so use it sparingly. Try and take quick showers rather than baths as this helps to save water. Advise your hotel that you don’t need towels or sheets laundered daily. This can save on water and energy. Conserve electricity by switching off lights, air-conditioning or heating when you leave your room. Use environmentally friendly shampoos and detergents, particularly when you are outside big cities in ‘the wild’ and your shower water is going to end up in a river! Try to reuse and refill your drinking water bottles where possible. Many hotels have water ‘garafons’ filled with treated ‘agua potable’ that is perfectly safe to drink. If your hotel does not, you could leave a suggestion that they provide one.

Departing from Punta Arenas, Chile, from September through April, crossing the Magellan’s Straight, the vessel will travel to famed Cape Horn, then navigate along the Beagle Channel up to Ushuaia, capital of Tierra del Fuego, visiting nine glaciers, virgin forests, lakes and the splendid flora and fauna of one of the world’s few uncontaminated regions. You will also get to know the remains of nearly extinct native cultures. You will learn about the geographic environment where our expedition cruise ship sails and each one of the channels, fjords and glaciers. Punta Arenas to Ushuaia 5 Days/4 Nights Saturdays(M/N Stella Australis) Day 1 - Punta Arenas Check in at Magallanes 990, Punta Arenas, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Vía Australis Cruise ship boarding at 6:00 p.m. The Captain and crew give a welcome cocktail reception on board. Immediately afterward, the ship departs for “the uttermost part of the earth”. Our excursion will take us through the Strait of Magellan and Beagle Channel to explore one of the most breathtaking wilderness regions in the world.: Day 2 - Ainsworth Bay – Tucker Islet At dawn, we continue navigating through Almirantazgo Sound until finally arriving near Marinelli Glacier in Ainsworth Bay, where we enjoy a walk to discover a beaver dam in the midst of a marvelous Magellanic forest. On the beach we observe a colony of elephant seals. Later we visit Tucker Islet, where we view colonies of Magellanic Penguins and Cormorants from the Zodiac boats. The islet’s penguins migrate in April; as a replacement we visit Brookes Bay, for a short walk to see a glacier. Day 3 - Pia Glacier - Glacier Alley We navigate through the main part of Beagle Channel to reach Pia Bay, where we disembark near Pia Glacier. We take a short hike to a lookout point with a spectacular view of the entire glacier tongue, stretching from high in the mountains all the way to the sea. After this unforgettable experience, we sail again along the northwest arm of Beagle Channel through majestic “Glacier Alley”: Spain, Romanche, Germany, Italy, France and Holland glaciers. Day 4 - Wulaia Bay - Cape Horn We sail through Beagle and Murray channel to reach and disembark in Cape Horn National Park (weather permitting). Cape Horn, on Hornos Island, is a sheer, 425-meter (1,394-foot) high rocky promontory. In the afternoon, we go ashore in historic Wulaia

- PCCA-AC Bay, once the site of one of the region’s largest aboriginal settlements. This area is also renowned for the mesmerizing beauty of its vegetation and geography. Day 5 – Ushuaia Arrival to Ushuaia, Argentina’s most important city on Tierra de Fuego, and the southernmost city in the world. We disembark at 8:00 a.m., enabling you to get an early start on visiting the city and national parks, and on continuing your trip through Patagonia.
Ushuaia to Punta Arenas 4 Days/3 Nights Wednesday(M/N Stella Australis) Day 01: Ushuaia Check in at San Martin 409, Ushuaia, between 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., with cruise ship boarding from 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. The captain and crew give a welcome cocktail reception on board, and afterwards the ship departs for the journey through one of the most captivating wilderness regions in the world. Day 02: Cape Horn - Wulaia Bay We sail through the Murray Channel and Nassau Bay to reach Cape Horn National Park, where we will disembark (weather permitting). The mythical Cape Horn was discovered in 1616, and it is a sheer, 425-meter (1,394-foot) high rocky promontory. In the afternoon, we go ashore at historic Wulaia Bay, once the site of one of the region’s largest Yamana aboriginal settlements. Charles Darwin landed here on January 23rd, 1833, during the voyage of the HMS Beagle. This area is also renowned for the mesmerizing beauty of its vegetation and geography. We will walk through a Magellanic forest of Lengas, Coihues, Canelos, ferns, and other native vegetation to reach a look-out point. Day 03: Agostini Sound - Aguila Glacier IAfter night fall we re-enter the Beagle Channel to Alberto de Agostini National Park. Rounding the
Brecknock Peninsula as the western extreme of Tierra del Fuego, Stella Australis is briefly exposed to the open Pacific. We then navigate a zigzag route through the Cockburn Channel, Magdalena Channel and Keats Fjord to reach scenic De Agostini Sound. Named after an Italian Salesian priest who worked among the region’s indigenous people during the first half of the 20th century, De Agostini Sound is flanked by numerous glaciers and sheer sawtoothed peaks reminiscent of Torres del Paine. Our shore excursion this morning is Águila (“Eagle”) Glacier, which hovers above a placid glacial lagoon surrounded by primeval forest. After a Zodiac landing on the beach, passengers hike around the edge of the lagoon to a spot near the base of the frozen facade. Condors can sometimes be seen winging high above, but there is always abundant bird life around the lagoon. This landing provides the perfect opportunity to experience the beauty of Patagonia’s sub-Antarctic rainforest and to see how the power of nature has molded the spectacular landscape. Day 05: Magdalena Island - Punta Arenas After an overnight cruise through Magdalena Channel and back into the Strait of Magellan, we anchor off Magdalena Island, which lies about halfway between Tierra del Fuego and the Chilean mainland. Crowned by a distinctive lighthouse, the island used to be an essential source of supplies for navigators and explorers and is inhabited by an immense colony of Magellanic penguins. At the break of dawn, weather permitting, we go ashore and hike a path that leads through thousands of penguins to a small museum lodged inside the vintage 1902 lighthouse. Many other bird species are also found on the island. In September and April -- when the penguins dwell elsewhere -- this excursion is replaced by a ride aboard Zodiacs to Marta Island to observe South American sea lions. After a short cruise south along the strait, disembarkation at Punta Arenas is scheduled for around 11:30 AM.*Camera extension poles are prohibited on Magdalena Island- Contact us for detailed program.

The highlands can be visited year-round, though the wettest months, January to April but trekking is still possible, it may be a muddy proposition. Many of the major festivals occur in the wettest months and continue undiminished in spite of heavy rain. In the eastern rainforests, it naturally rains a lot. The wettest months are December through to April, it can be visited year-round since it rarely rains for more than a few hours at a time and there is still plenty of sunshine to enjoy. The coast should be visited around January while it’s hot, and the mountains and jungles are at their best after the rains, from May until September, except for the Iquitos region. Since this is unlikely to be possible on a single trip – the country’s attractions are invariably enough to override the need for guarantees of good weather.

3 Day Nasca Lines - NLBITP3 The Nazca People developed advanced farming methods (1000 BC) that allowed them to build an irrigation system, improve their crops and expand the area of land they could farm. They also developed outstanding skills in weaving, pottery, and architecture. One of the most fascinating of their cultural achievements was the creation of a remarkable ground art - the exact purpose of which remains a mystery. On the coast, the confluence of two great ocean currents, El Niño and la Peruana or Humboldt, create an environment where aquatic life flourish, encouraging abundant growth of plankton and phytoplankton, essential components for marine life. In Paracas Reserve, scores of sea lions can be seen lazily basking in the sun align with condors and giants turtles easing their way through the water. The winds, the sea temperature, and other weather factors have created a habitat for thousands of species of marine fauna and flora, ranging from tiny fish and mollusks to great seals.

Peru Amazon Lodges - PALTP For many the seemingly impenetrable wilderness of the Amazon, sprawling across half of South America’s vast territory, conjures an unrivalled sense of adventure that taps into some of their very earliest images of the exotic. However, for those wishing to make childhood dreams a reality and visit this unique environment for themselves, it can be hard to know where to begin. To unpick the key questions and make sense of all the options. The most popular choices for Amazon holidays are Peru, Brazil and Ecuador, and these are also where the standard of jungle lodges and quality of guided excursions is highest. The best way to choose will almost always come down to the other regions or specific attractions you wish to visit on your trip. The main exceptions are if you have specialist interests, for example ornithology (in which case you will probably find the Peruvian Amazon the most rewarding) or anthropology (Ecuador has the most community-focused approach), or want to see a particular species such as the pink river dolphin (frequently seen around Kapawi Lodge in Ecuador). Contact us for expert advice...
HEATH RIVER WILDLIFE CENTRE (HRWC) Only 5 hours by river from P. Maldonado, the Center is the best-located lodge in the world’s largest pristine rainforest. Within easy reach are an excellent macaw clay lick, Capybaras (120-pound Guinea Pigs), oxbow lakes with Giant Otters, 480 bird species, and 6 monkey species. Furthermore, we feature healthy populations of Tapirs and Jaguars. Heath offers the world’s only large macaw clay lick reachable in less than a half a Day from a jetport. Visitors have seen up to 260 macaws there at one time, making it one of the top 5 of the world’s 100 known licks. Travelers view this spectacle from a roomy blind floating only 30 mts. away. A trail grid with mapped fruiting trees allow our guides to take you straight to the wildlife. At the end of one trail, the rainforest suddenly melts away, offering a startling, open vista reminiscent of East Africa The only lowland pampas accessible from Peru. Downriver is the Ese’Eja Indian village of Sonene, where you can learn about tribal traditions and life in the rainforest. Everyone in Sonene speaks their native language, with Spanish reserved for school and for trading handicrafts with outsiders, including you. The Heath’s unique combination of comfort, macaw lick, pristine forest, unique pampas, and traditional culture offers what we believe is the Amazon’s finest all-around value for money. The lodge offers comfortable double bungalows with ensuite bathrooms with hot showers.

TAMBOPATA RESEARCH CENTRE (TRC)
MANU WILDLIFE CENTRE (MWC)
The Tambopata Research Center (TRC) is a spartan yet comfortable 18 bedroom lodge which was built more than fifteen years ago with the purpose of lodging tourists and researchers alike and of protecting the adjacent macaw clay lick. Because of its remote location in uninhabited wilderness housing stable populations of endangered wildlife, the small scale of its infrastructure and operations and the presence of researchers and naturalist guides, TRC is an excellent headquarters for in depth explorations of Amazonian nature and wildlife.
Is located in a private, 16,190 ha./40,000-acre rain forest reserve adjacent to the one millionacre protected area named the “Amarakaeri Reserved Zone”. The tapir lick is a comfortable ninety minutes on foot from the lodge, while the macaw lick is a half-hour boat journey plus a short walk away.
TRC is located in a half hectare clearing in the middle of the uninhabited portion of the Tambopata National Reserve, adjacent to the Bahuaja-Sonene National Park and 500 meters from the world’s largest macaw clay lick. From the airport you are transported by truck to the Infierno River Port where you board our boats for the two and half hour trip to Refugio Amazonas. From Refugio Amazonas, TRC is four hours upriver, and a few minutes walking from the river.
From Lima or Cusco by commercial airplane to Puerto Maldonado followed by a short overland journey and then navigate up the Madre de Dios River by motorized canoe to reach our Manu Wildlife Center. The world’s largest tapir lick, The most photogenic and accessible large macaw and parrot lick, Miles of monkey-rich trails through mature rain forest, Two 120-foot-tall (35-m) canopy platforms and two mature lakes with abundant Hoatzins, caimans and Giant Otters. The Galapagos Islands Cruises - GICTP One of Ecuador’s most valuable and most famous natural treasures is not on the mainland at all. It is the Galapagos Islands, an enchanted, volcanically formed archipelago just over 1,000 kilometres off of Ecuador’s Pacific coast. The Galapagos is a world unto itself composed of 13 major islands, six smaller ones and over two score of islets that became Charles Darwin’s living laboratory of evolution and inspired him to write The Origin of the Species after visiting the islands in 1835. Darwin’s Theory of Evolution emanated from this visit and the ensuing book..
When to Visit? Located on the equator, the Galapagos Islands are subject to oceanic currents that influence temperatures on the archipelago. However, the weather is pleasant, at any time of the year. January to March is considered the hot/wet season, March being the hottest month of the year. The islands are flourishing with plant life, and the water temperatures are ideal for snorkelling and diving at this time of year. Because of the climate changes in July through September, there’s less rain and the islands are drier, though cooler. The water temperature drops considerably, though this is the ideal time of year to see more aquatic life, as the animals prefer the colder currents. The main regulator of the climate of the Galapagos is the temperature of the ocean surface and ocean currents, creating microclimates on the islands influencing the particular flora and fauna habitats found on each island.
Albatrosses on a dance ritual
t us Contac la r fo test ons ro P moti
When choosing the time of year to visit the Galapagos, prioritize. Decide what you would rather do and see, as not all animals are present at all times of year. This depends greatly on the season and climate.
Facts for the Traveller
The following are general cruise procedures and are operative with most boats. Arrival Upon arrival, passengers are met by our crew and transferred by private bus to the boat anchored nearby: Once on board, you’ll receive an orientation and safety drill. National Park Fee The Islands are part of the Ecuador National Park System and the entrance fee is US$100 per person (US$50 for children under 12). The fee is collected at the airport upon arrival by Galapagos Park Wardens. It is best to have the U.S. dollars in exact change. Municipal Tax

son is also collected upon arrival to San Cristobal airport for usage of the port and public facilities. The Cruise The Day begins early with breakfast followed by the first shore excursion, returning for lunch and followed by sun or a siesta while the yacht navigates to the next island. Late afternoon, disembark for the second excursion and return to prepare for dinner. In the evening, our naturalist gives a briefing for the next Day’s shore excursions. Bar An open tab at the bar and boutique which are paid the last Day of the cruise. Alcoholic beverages on board are priced very modestly. On board they accept cash (dollars or sucres), Travelers Checks and MasterCard, VISA and Diners Card. Naturalist Guides Passengers must be accompanied at all times by our naturalist guides who have been trained by the Darwin Station and licensed by the National Park. In the evenings, our expert guides give briefings for the next Day’s excursions. Tipping is a personal matter, related to your impressions of how you were served. To express your satisfaction, we suggest you follow the international guidelines of US$5 - US$10 per person per Day for the aggregate ship crew. Guides are tipped separately from the crew’s tip pool. Landings The boats anchor offshore at two visitor sites per day. Passengers are ferried to the islands by launches (locally called pangas). The landings are either wet or dry where one must step into water anywhere from your ankles to your waist and wade to shore or where one steps from the panga directly to the volcanic rock. Your guide and panga driver assist you with a steady hand. Passengers able to walk a few hours a day unassisted will be able to fully enjoy Galapagos. Some excursions are strenuous, involving steep climbs or long walks.
Islands Visit
GALAPAGOS ISLANDS CRUISES & LAND PROG. - GICTP
On the islands, one follows marked trails set by the National Park, walking at a leisurely pace. The guides will interpret and explain the unusual sights you see. You’ll spend 3-4 hours at each site, allowing plenty of time to explore and photograph the abundant wildlife. Afterward, there is often opportunity to swim and snorkel. Masks, fins and snorkels in average sizes are available on board for rent. Passengers may bring their own equipment if they wish. You will receive a list of Galapagos National Park rules.

The moorlands of upland Ecuador fall away through cloud forested slopes down to the jungles of the Amazon basin (Oriente), which occupies half the country but, still undeveloped and even unexplored, is home to only 5% of the population. It’s a true wilderness of exuberant rainforest and remote indian communities. The region is easily accessible from by air but also by road and boat. The Oriente is under threat from the logging and oil industry but members of the local community are very eco-conscious and sensitive to the preservation of the rainforest environment, some have opened up their villages to welcome visitors. The Napo Wildlife Centre (NWC) The Napo Wildlife Center, NWC Amazon Lodge, is the greatest and ultimate alternative luxury eco-hotel in Amazonian Ecuador. This ecotourism project includes the conservation of approximately over 53,000 acres (over 21,400 hectares ) of the most pristine Amazon Rain Forest within the Yasunì National Park. Accommodations are in comfortable bungalows for 2 or 3 guests, with a private bath, warm water, 120 volt outlets, and mosquito nets. From the terrace or the observation tower, you can watch giant otters, caimans, capybaras, monkeys, and birds and listen to the screams of the howler monkeys. Sample Itinerary Day 01: Land/boat transfer from Coca to Lodge of approx. 4 hours. (BL,D) Day 02: Morning trek to a parrot clay lick and local community. For residents of the southern hemisphere, Argentina offers the same climate conditions of Australia and New Zealand. The country’s great variety and elongated geography can make a visit in any season worthwhile. Buenos Aires urban attractions, for example, transcend the seasons, but Patagonian destinations, such as the Moreno Glacier is best to visit in the summer months (December to February). The Iguazú Falls in subtropical Misiones province are best in the southern hemisphere’s winter or spring when heat and humidity are less oppressive. The winter months (mid-June to late Sep) also offer the opportunity to go skiing.

Imposing Moais in Ahu Tongariki, Easter island
3 Day Easter Island - EITP Easter Island (Rapa Nui) really is a unique place. Chilean territory but isolated in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, this tiny pimple of volcanic origin, first populated by Polynesians from the west, has become a mesmeric destination for visitors. Once densely forested and fertile, the rugged, hilly island supported a prosperous population which sculpted the island’s enigmatic moai, or giant stone heads. The landscape is now covered by rocky, treeless and unproductive grasslands, beautiful in its gaunt and haunting way, and the coast is defined by rocky coves and the occasional sparkling white beach. The Island is an equilateral triangular shape, 24 km across its longest side with extinct volcanic cones in each of its three corners respectively. Amidst an atmosphere of friendly Polynesian hospitality, the entire island is today a species of open-air museum with more than 600 MOAI (some up to 9 meters in height), the fascinating Orongo Village and many traditional people`s cave dwellings open to view. North & South Patagonia Patagonia is a rugged, mountainous area of southern Chile and Argentina characterized by lakes, glaciers, fjords, and windswept steppe. Weather is unpredictable with strong winds and sudden storms common. Summertime (December through February) is the best time to visit as temperatures are generally warmer and trails are more accessible. Shoulder months, October, November, March, and April tend to have cooler temperatures, but also less wind and smaller crowds so these can be nice options as well. We have a great choice of programs (Lakes Crossing), Fjord Cruises and properties close to national parks and in the area including transfers from/to Punta Arenas/El Calafate, all meals and activities with English speaking local guides.

When to go
Most of Brazil can be visited comfortably throughout the year. Only the south – which can be sticky in summer (Dec-Feb) and can have non-stop rain in winter (Jun - Aug) – has large seasonal changes. The rest of the country experiences brief tropical rains throughout the year which rarely affect travel plans. During summer (Dec - Feb) many Brazilians are on holidays, making travel difficult and expensive.

Covering an enormous area of barely populated wilderness, the Pantanal do Mato Grosso is perhaps the best place in South America to see wildlife. On a variety of land and river excursions, tailored to the season and the conditions, you’ll have the opportunity to track and observe animals in their undisturbed natural habitat, often easily visible thanks to the sparse foliage characteristic of these expansive grasslands. While staying in the Pantanal, you are highly likely to see plenty of capybara, howler monkeys and caiman (particularly impressive on a night safari when a flash of the guide’s torch on a lake will light up countless pairs of glowing prehistoric eyes). Giant anteaters, jabiru storks, toucans, deer, peccaries, coatis and giant otters are also common, while ocelots and tapirs may be sighted. With luck, it’s even possible you might get a once-in-a-lifetime glimpse of a jaguar or an anaconda. Pousada do Rio Mutum
5 Days/4 Nights Pousada do Rio Mutum is located in the northern Pantanal. It is situated between the lakes Sia Mariana and Chacorore within one of the most beautiful regions of the Panatanal of Mato Grosso. The Pousada itself belongs to the county of Barao do Melgaco, which comprises more than 11,000 square kilometers, 97% of which remain flooded during the rainy season. Whereas during that period the temperature will always be high, also during nighttime (between 25 and 40 degree Celsius), winds can be quite chilly during wintertime (June to August, when it does not rain at all) and temperatures may fall below 10-15 degrees. The Pousada do Rio Mutum lies, as its name indicates, at the river Mutum, shortly before it terminates in the great lakes, the biggest, the Baia de Chacorore, having a diameter of more than 15km. This pousada is highly recommended for those who enjoy fishing. The pintado catfish is a particularly prized catch, but anglers can also expect to hook dourado, paçu, or piraputanga. (The best months for fishing are Feb-Oct; there is no fishing Nov-Jan during spawning season.) For nonfishers there are tours of the Pantanal ecosystem by boat, foot, and canoe. The lodge also offers special bird-watcher packages, which do many of the same activities but are accompanied by a
bird expert. Itinerary Day 01: Transfer from Cuiaba airport to the lodge, via the small village of Mimoso. (D) Days 2-4: Lodge activities to maximize wildlife sightings such as: Horse riding, boat rides and hiking through typical pantanal eco-system with opportunities to watch: Capybaras, caimans, tapirs etc… (B,L,D) Day 05: Return back to Cuiaba airport. MY Tucano in Rio Negro near Manaus, Brazil
MY Tucano Amazon Cruises Absorb the sights and sounds of the jungle from the deck of this purpose-built river cruiser, with guided forays on foot or by canoe into the creeks and lagoons of Amazônia. There is a marvellous nautical atmosphere aboard the wooden river boat, which was constructed locally by indigenous craftsmen and inspired by the traditional three-decked design of vessel that has navigated the Amazon for centuries. For those seeking an authentic and adventurous rainforest experience, it is an excellent choice that comes warmly recommended by Travel Projects. The Tucano accommodates a maximum of just 18 passengers in nine cabins. The attractive, rosewood-lined and air-conditioned cabins have comfortable twin bunks with crisp cotton sheets and duvets, private bathrooms with limited hot shower facilities, and large curtained windows opening to the outside world. Voyage to the Heart of the Amazon 7 Days/6 Nights Itinerary Days 1-3 In our well equipped expedition boat The Motor Yacht Tucano, we explore far up the least inhabited river in the Amazon, The Rio Negro. We explore the forest by foot or in our launches, go for swims in the cleanest water in the world, visit with local settlers that live deep in the forest, and spend a great deal of time hunting for and observing the greatest collection of wildlife on earth.

10 Day Colombia Highlights Tour - CHTTP Unspoilt Colombia has arguably the most dramatic scenery, the greatest variety of flora and fauna, the most atmospheric towns, and among the friendliest people in Latin America. Jagged snow-spangled Andean peaks rake the skies above an apron of coffee plantations giving way to unsullied rainforests. Warm Caribbean waters stroke lazy blond beaches, while pre-Conquest ruins and exquisite colonial cities dot the landscape. Colombia has a comprehensive air network – essential in such fractured landscape – and locally a good road system. The tourist infrastructure in these more stable times is expanding rapidly. With a bit of careful planning and judicious use of expert advice, the visitor can enjoy a most rewarding experience. The most pleasant time to visit Colombia is in the dry season, between December and March or in July and August. This is particularly true if you plan on hiking. The dry season also gives visitors a better chance to savor local cultural events because many festivals and fiestas take place during these periods.
Colombia Highlights Tour 10 Days/ 9 Nights If there’s a country poised to be the next big ecotourism destination, it’s Colombia. With an area equal to that of Spain, France, and Portugal combined, Colombia has coastlines on the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, thick Amazon jungle, immense flat lands evoking the American planes, scorching deserts, and snow-capped mountain peaks. All that plus 45 million residents mean that Colombia is second only to Brazil in ecological and human diversity amongst South American countries. Itinerary Day 01: Arrive in Bogota

When to Go Bolivia lies in the southern hemisphere; winter runs from May to October and summer from November to April. The most important climatic factor to remember is that it’s generally wet in the summer and dry in the winter. While the highlands and Altiplano can be cold in the winter and wet in the summer, the only serious barrier to travel will be the odd road washout. In the tropical lowlands, however, summer can be miserable with mud, steamy heat, bugs and relentless downpours. Travel is difficult, and services may be stifled by mud and flooding. Also consider that the high tourist season falls in the winter (late June to early September), due not only to climatic factors, but also to the timing of European and North American summer holidays and the fact that it’s also Bolivia’s major fiesta season. This means that both overseas visitors and lots of South Americans are travelling during this period.

The Uyuni salt desert lies towards the South of the central high-plateau, situated in the lowest part of the plateau (3.656 m. above sea level). In the summer the Uyuni Salt marsh is a huge lake of 12.106 sq. Km. with a depth of 60 to 80 cm. In the winter (ie between May and November) the water evaporates, leaving a snowy blanket of salt. This area contains one of the largest beds of lithium in the world. Visit Potosi, renowned for its silver mines, its magnificent colonial architecture, churches glistening with gold, and theatres that presented the best of European productions, as well as for its extravagance and vice. Continue onto Sucre, located in a lovely valley, with its distinctive architecture of white buildings with red tile roofs. Uyuni Salt Flats 6D/5N Tue, Wed, Fri & Sun

11 Day Chaco & Iguazu - CIDTP Whilst Paraguay is relatively little visited in comparison to its larger neighbours, our specialists have the same love and intimate knowledge of the country as anywhere else in South America. Visiting Paraguay is generally done in combination with a trip to Brazil, entering the country close to the immense Iguazú Falls, or with Argentina, crossing from the state of Misiones with its vast wetlands. Alternatively, there are direct flights to Asunción from São Paulo and Buenos Aires. Paraguay is rarely a destination visited in its own right, although there is enough for the intrepid traveller to fill a week or even two. Chaco & Iguazu Falls 11 Days / 10 Nights Day 1, Arrive in Asuncion Arrival at the international airport Silvio Petirossi in Asunción and transfer to your hotel, In the afternoon we will start our journey with the city tour in Asunción.
