LEGEND IN LUXURY. A Totally Biased Review. By Lynn Tribbling
As an ardent purveyor of luxury condos, I’ve owned dozens of posh investment suites and lived in several 5-Star waterfront buildings, but none surpass Palace Place. This majestic, 47- storey trophy tower in South Etobicoke was my home for many happy years. The experience was simply superlative. Why the glowing accolades? Three words: amenities, services and views. Arguably, Palace Place offers the richest array of recreational and fitness facilities in Toronto. Think pools, hot tub, saunas, gym, yoga, golf, rooftop party room, observation deck, media lounge, picnic areas and a private pet park for furry friends. For me, working out is a spectator sport, but it was easy to see from all my annoyingly fit neighbours, that the lavish exercise facilities were first-rate and clearly effective. I recall, the special white-glove services in Palace Place were beyond awesome. Reminiscent of a 5-Star hotel, residents are routinely spoiled with a lifestyle of convenience and indulgence. Nimble valets and smiling front desk staff welcome you home and greet your guests with polished efficiency. The lobby vibe is bustling and friendly, but never pretentious. When I ran out of Cheez Whiz and Fresca, or needed a last-minute birthday card, there was a handy, in-house variety store on the main level. A full time, classy Euro-style concierge was available to arrange theatre tickets, travel bookings, social events and guest suites. Above all, my favorite perk was the private shuttle bus which whisked me downtown for shopping and wine-tastings. Life was good. it was like living at the Mimico Ritz.

For me, the quintessential appeal of Palace Place continues to be the spectacular panoramic views. Adjectives like stunning, breathtaking, jaw-dropping come to mind. It was love at first sight when I first glimpsed the dazzling vistas from the Penthouse that became my home. I was smitten. I had to have it. Palace Place is perfectly perched on the shores of Lake Ontario, ideally positioned to capture the unobstructed, glittering skyline to the east, sweeping water views to the south and serene lagoon images to the west. Add three yacht clubs, acres of verdant parkland, crimson sunrises, moonlight on the lake, a few dozen swans and this picture becomes postcard perfect. It is no surprise that Palace Place consistently wins consumer awards for best in class. This bold and soaring obelisk, with distinctive cruciform architecture, is a legendary Toronto landmark and truly a world-class address where beauty and luxury meet. POST SCRIPT: I eventually moved to another spiffy Penthouse in Humber Bay, mainly because I wanted a balcony. Yes, I have friendly concierges, fabulous views and two lovely balconies (which I rarely use), but I still miss Palace Place, especially when I have to take an Uber to a wine-tasting. Don’t judge me. The pain is real. Alas, I had to learn to live without a private shuttle.
