your day

whether you’re a traveler who bikes, or

provence, day 2 Wow! We haven't slept this late since before we had the kids! From the hotel to the town square this was my kind of ride—all DOWNHILL! The village market was like something out of a storybook! Quirky vendors, succulent olives and funky jewelry. So beautiful and so authentic! I think the ‘Mont Ventoux riders’ were a wee bit tired after lunch. We can actually keep up with them! Loved exploring the ancient stone dwellings together with our new found friends. How the guides ever found this quaint winery, I’ll never know! Christine's family has owned this vineyard for five generations. She is the picture of French sophistication—elegant, casual, classy, and SO passionate about wine. Had a tough decision after the wine tasting: Ride some more? Or shuttle back to the hotel to enjoy my bottle of Rosé by the pool? No contest! ‘Santé!’ That's French for ‘Cheers’. All I can say is ‘WOW’! Lamb seared over an open fire, a spread of cheese the size of my kitchen table AND….a pre-dessert, a dessert and a POST dessert! I can’t wait for tomorrow!

you decid a biker who travels, it’s

provence, day 2 The day has finally arrived—Mount Ventoux. As we gear up, our guide Stephanie stokes the flames of competition among the riders with hand written notes on our bikes and asks us: “Who’ll be king of the mountain today?” Out on the road, I settle into a climbing rhythm and Gilles, our other guide, passes in the support van cheering “Allez, Allez!” Up, up, up...past the tree line, the summit comes into view. I’m there! Fresh water bottles and replenishing snacks abound as we cheer our fellow riders in. After racing down an epic descent, we rejoin the ‘market riders’ for a gourmet picnic of savory tapenade, marinated vegetables, French sausage and pastries. Then yet another exhilarating ride! At social hour we relish our day’s achievements with a lot of jovial back slapping. Stephanie crowns today’s King of the Mountain, and I secure my bragging rights while toasting new friendships. After a feast fit for royalty, I settle into a plush Relais & Chateau bed for a well deserved rest after one of my greatest days.
