DANIELLE & DANIEL JUNE 30, 2018

TUSCANY, ITALY

This glamorous destination wedding in Tuscany was the epitome of beauty and style. The couple and their relatives hailed from Canada, while their guests arrived from all across the globe: Australia, Africa, Japan, the UK, the US, and Europe. The uniqueness of a destination wedding is that people usually come for a few days and spend this time together, getting closer to each other and to the couple. Danielle & Dan’s guests started celebrating with them in Florence, then had a festive pizza party at the hotel Villa Fiesole (where most of the guests stayed - it was booked entirely for the wedding’s guests). The festivities culminated in the wedding ceremony and celebration at the famous Vincigliata Castle, the only castle near Florence which operates as an event venue. The castle is located on top of a Tuscan hill in Fiesole and offers breathtaking views of Florence and its surroundings.

The big day started with preparations: the ladies getting ready in their suite with some Champagne, whilst the gentlemen treated themselves to beer. The late June weather was perfect that day, some light clouds helped to hide from the sun, and the light wind was refreshing. The celebrity stylist Cherie Spisso was taking care of the bride and her crew. Danielle is an impressive woman: an activist for healthy and responsible living, a yoga master, a mother to 2-year old Lily and is incredibly beautiful! She and her friends model for various agencies, and seeing them all together was a real treat for the eyes. When the time came, Federico, the floral designer for the wedding from Lilla Floral Design, delivered bouquets for the ladies, a floral crown for Lily, and boutonnières for the groomsmen. Luba, the owner of Primavera Dreams Weddings, and the wedding planner for the couple made sure that everything followed the strict schedule. For her wedding, Danielle wore a Pronovias couture dress and a cathedral veil. She looked sublime.

Dan couldn’t take his eyes off his beautiful bride. The celebrant Giuseppe Rossi conducted a touching ceremony, the couple exchanged vows and rings, and 30 minutes later the excited crowd applauded the newlyweds! A festive cocktail reception followed immediately in the garden, with plenty of Prosecco and Aperol Spritz, typical Tuscan weddings drinks. The amusebouches were delicious, the cheese and cold cut displays were a huge success, the guests enjoyed a warm summer evening and each other’s company. The couple greeted everyone, kissed their adorable daughter Lily and went for a tour of picture-taking. An hour and a half later, everyone was invited to the internal court where the dinner was waiting on long rectangular banquet tables. Federico worked on the florals and overall design with Danielle and they came up with a white/offwhite/green and gold palette. The tables were decorated with crystal and bronze candelabras, greenery, and a multitude of small candles and vases. A typical Tuscan 4-course dinner was freshly made and beautifully served by Roland’s catering. The dinner was joyful,

with several humorous toasts and entertaining shoe game. It was topped off with the cake-making show, during which Roland’s pastry chef assembled a big migliefoglie cake – a traditional Italian wedding cake. The night was warm, the castle was enchanting, and it felt invigorating to take the occasional break from the dance floor and enjoy the grounds around. The celebration continued until 2 a.m. Featured Artists: Event Designer: Primavera Dreams Event Planner: Primavera Dreams Photography: Anna Fowler Photography Event Venue: Castello di Vincigliata Floral Designer: Lilla Floral Design Dress Designer: Pronovias Bridal Boutique: Ferre Sposa Bridal Boutique Tuxedo: Empire Customs Makeup Artist: Cherie Spisso Invitation Designer: The Cardlab Letterpress Company Accommodations: Hotel Villa Fiesole Caterer: Roland's Lighting: Kaleydo Entertainment Disc Jockey: MLSE

NONA & MICHEL

TRENDS WINTER/SPRING EDITION | 29

Michel and Nona attended University together in Boston, and although they had most of their friends in common they did not know each other until a very cold Bostonian nigh, 3rd of December 2010 to be exact. A common friend of theirs invited Nona to a party and as Nona was walking to the party she saw a friend from the inside of a restaurant down the street waving at her. She walked by and notice there was a young man inside that my friend waved at. That young man was Michel, and he told her that he saw her walking down the street from a mile away and told their common friend Fysal, “Isn’t that girl beautiful. At that moment, Nona had not even seen Michel but he had seen her and noticed her from a far. Every since 3rd of December 2010, they talked with each other everyday and saw each other. Michel proposed on May 2014 at the Boston Harbor. This place meant a lot to the both of them, because not only they lived down the street from this spot during their college years but it was also a spot where Michel gave Nona her first present, which was also a ring. The most important thing during their wedding was for them to have a blast and enjoy their time with all our friends and family that came from 15 different countries to celebrate their love with them. Having a blast was 1000% their priority. Elegance was extremely important to Nona so she paid attention to every little detail. From the color of name placecards, the font, to the self designed table numbers which not only had the table number it, but it also had their names

engaged on them. The color vision was violet and light pink, and the venue of course was key! Massive ceiling with beautiful chandeliers and mirrors and gold doors, that’s why they loved the venue. Nona's first dress was a beautiful plunging Vneck with all handmade lace dress made by Pronovias. The second dress was her own vision of what I wanted to be but was made by a friend and designer here in Paris. This was not a dress that she has in her collection is a dress purely made by Nona's own vision and expectations. Nona didn’t want this dress to be something others could have that’s why it took so long to design it. Both of Michel’s suites were custom made by his personal tailor, which is Canali brand. Michel himself picked every detail of his suites, material, cut and style. Nona & Michel also included family heirlooms. Michel had his fathers all gold pocket watched and Nona had her grandmother's gold bracelet and pendent on. The couple made sure to include both Iranian and Greek music in the wedding as those were their countries of origin.

"Darline & Norman honored their culture with all their Chaldean traditions. They had it all." DARLINE & NORMAN

May 27, 2017, San Diego, California Darline & Noman have quite a story to the aisle! Long before making their relationship official, Darline & Norman met at a wedding they were both in. Darline was a bridesmaid and Norman was a groomsman. Funny thing though is they DID NOT get along!! About five or six years later they were in ANOTHER wedding together as the Maid of Honor and Best Man. This time it was a little different. At the wedding they couldn’t help but flirt, reminisce and create amazing memories with their closet friends. After the

wedding, Norman pursued Darline and the two became amazing friends and eventually a couple. For Darline’s birthday in 2016, Norman surprised her with a weekend trip to San Francisco. Although he had something else up his sleeve. He proposed to Darline on the rooftop of the Fairmont Hotel and of course, she said yes! Darline & Norman wanted every aspect of their wedding to be unique and high glamour. From the ceremony with only the closest family members (about 30-40) to the 500 guest

wedding reception, Darline & Norman honored their culture with all their Chaldean traditions. They had it all! The ceremonial crowns that represented Christ & the Church or equality in their relationship – you need one to preserve the other. You will also see the kalila (white bow), which means “crown”, tied to Norman’s arm at the reception. This bow signifies that the groom is taking leadership as the head of his family. If the perfect combination of modern glamour and valued traditions wasn’t enough, a seven foot robot made an appearance on the dance floor at the end of the night for no reason at all! Darline & Norman’s wedding is a night everyone will remember for a lifetime.

The intricate details, the layers of gold, pearls, rhinestones and satin were everywhere. It was any girl's dream. The historic Van Dusen Mansion in Minneapolis provided the most royal backdrop for Kara and  Sam's elegant wedding with cobblestone pathways, soaring ivy wrapped walls and sparkling gold lights lighting the iron fences and majestic gates. The intimate ceremony was filled with equal amount of laughs and emotionfilled tears. The couple wrote their own vows and there wasn't a dry eye to be seen throughout the garden. The progressive wedding day brought us to the social hour where the couple was whisked away in a beautiful horse drawn carriage.

NICOLE & BEN OCTOBER 7, 2018

DRIPPING SPRINGS, TEXAS

Nicole and Ben first met while they were both working in New York City at the same company. "We never really spoke or hung out in the same groups," says Nicole. "But one evening after work, our two friend groups coincided at happy hour and the rest was history." The couple later moved to Austin, and in February 2017 while Nicole was visiting family back in NYC, she was greeted by a flat brown gift box tied with string. Inside were enclosed several handwritten note cards from Ben, the last one asking her to come out to the front porch where he was waiting on one knee. The pair was heavily inspired by "rich burgundy and navy tones, gold geometric shapes, and marble with velvet accents," which set the stage for a perfectly romantic day surrounded by their dearest friends and family. Nicole notes that they used their own mirror to map out their seating chart and created their own Polaroid guestbook table. One of the most memorable and cherished parts of their big day was their ceremony, grateful that their guests traveled to be with them as they exchanged vows.Â

Both Nicole and Ben agree that the food, florals, place settings, bridal party outfits and the cake were some of their favorite wedding details. As for advice for future couples planning their wedding, Nicole advises, "You are there to do one thing at the end of the day - marry each other. So always remember to bring yourselves back to that thought. You need to support each other when life decides to throw so much craziness towards your way, especially while wedding planning. When things got stressful or difficult, we just reminded each other what the goal was and worked together to always be rooted in love."

How to Choose the Right Wedding Hairstyle BY: KATY TAUREL

THE RIGHT HAIR STYLE FOR YOUR WEDDING DRESS

As a Wedding Hair Stylist, one of the most common questions I get from my brides is How to Choose the Right Wedding Hair Style. When in the bridal consultation always ask about the dress. The dress style is very important, not only to match the total look styling but also to know how to complement the neckline with the hairdo. In this article, I give you tips on how to choose the right Hair Style for your Wedding Dress. On a basic idea, you would want to have a balance between the neckline, the style, and framing that the hairdo will provide. I suggest balancing a closed dress with updos that will give a more open look and to use your hair down or in long braids or ponytails when the cleavage is bigger. Every case is individual and also the final look you want to achieve plays a very important role in all of your styling choices. Here are some ideas on how to choose the right Hair Style for your Wedding Dress:

TRENDS WINTER/SPRING EDITION | 75

CLASSIC SOFTNESS

This first dress is a classic lace dress, very rich in design and has many elements, it is made with several layers, a delicate corset and top layer of lace. The neckline is high and frames the face. For this type of line, I recommend an updo, preferably in a bun so that hair does not compete with elements of the dress. The style of this updo is soft to give a playful twist to this classical romantic dress.

FRESH & NATURAL

A fresh and more undone hairstyle matches this dress perfectly. Narrow straps and a more plunging neckline creates the perfect space for a soft "hair down"look, almost undone but perfectly in place.

THE GOOD SIDE

This second lace dress we paired it with a side ponytail. It complements perfectly the neckline and the back which are more open and perfect if you want some of your hair loose. Side updos are great for pictures because you can see every detail in almost any direction.hair down"look, almost undone but perfectly in place.

HALF UP

For the fourth and final look, we chose a dress combined with a strap with beaded lace overlay and a deep triangular neckline, this dress is really suited the Florida summer and perfect for almost any hairdo. I chose a hairdo that combines the best of both worlds. Half up and out of the face but keeping the softness of the loose waves. The elevation at the top of the hair produces a very feminine appearance.

Lisbon seems to be have built clinging on to the cliffs and is characterized by the 1755 earthquake which nearly leveled the city destroying most of the gothic style architecture. This is not to imply that Lisbon lack stunning architecture, because this is far from true. Lisbon boasts of baroque and medieval style buildings. Remains of Gothic architecture can still be seen however at sites, like Carmo Convent, which proved not only that gothic arches are beautiful, but are strong enough to stand the test of time. Adding to the charm and uniqueness of Lisbon are the brightly colored tiles that decorate buildings and line the cobbled stone streets as vintage street cars travel through the city and up the very steep hills. The sweetest of charms and one that all most travelers, guides and guidebooks will tell you that you must try, and we are in total agreement, is the Portuguese egg tarts, or pastĂŠis de nata. These palmsized little confections were in the window of little pastelarias across the city, filled with locals drinking coffee and chatting.
