Abbey of San Lorenzo Abtei San Lorenzo Costruita nella seconda metà del XII secolo dai Benedettini del monastero di Vallalta (Bg), chiamati a Trento dal vescovo Alemanno, si trova ad un livello inferiore rispetto al terreno circostante innalzatosi a causa delle alluvioni dell'Adige. La facciata principale presenta il portale sovrastato da una trifora con due bassorilievi romanici ai lati, la parte absidale è in stile romanico, il campanile è stato sopraelevato nel XVIII secolo mentre l'interno è a tre navate con volta a crociera, affrescata con stelle rosse e azzurre in campo bianco, sostenute da quattro colonne cilindriche a capitello romanico. Accanto alla chiesa sorgeva un convento che mantenne le sue funzioni fino al 1778, anno in cui cambiò destinazione: carcere, ospedale, caserma fino a quando in epoca fascista fu definitivamente abbattuto per la costruzione di altri edifici.

Dopo la salita con la funivia Trento-Sardagna, arrivati nel centro del paese, si imbocca la strada in salita che da dietro la fontana porta attraverso l'antica strada romana al parco delle Poze, straordinario punto panoramico sulla Valle dell'Adige e sulla città di Trento. Il percorso prosegue salendo ancora per un breve tratto e si conclude nell'abitato di Sardagna attraversando un bosco di secolari castagni, noccioli, carpini, pini silvestri, faggi ed aceri campestri.

L'itinerario si completa con i preziosi affreschi di Marcello Fogolino nella quattrocentesca chiesetta dei SS. Filippo e Giacomo e le interessanti pitture murali sulle case del paese.

Arriving in the Trento-Sardagna cable car, make your way to the village centre, take the road uphill from behind the fountain which leads along the ancient Roman road to the park of the Poze, where amazing views can be enjoyed over the Adige valley and the city of Trento. Continue uphill for a short distance this leads through an ancient wood of chestnuts, hazels, field maples, pines, beeches and country maples to the centre of Sardagna. Nach der Fahrt mit der Seilbahn „Trento-Sardagna“ und in der Ortsmitte angekommen, wird die bergaufführende Straße eingeschlagen, die hinter dem Brunnen über die alte Römerstraße zum Park „delle Poze“ bringt, dem Aussichtspunkt, mit Blick auf das Etschtal und die Stadt Trento. Der Weg verläuft für ein weiteres, kurzes Stück bergauf und endet in der Ortschaft Sardagna, nachdem er durch einen Wald, mit jahrhundertealten Kastanien, Haselnuss-Sträuchern, Hainbuchen, Föhren, Buchen und Feldahorn führte. Die Wanderung wird durch die wertvollen Fresken von Marcello Fogolino, in dem Kirchlein aus dem 15. Jahrhundert den Heiligen Philip und Jakob gewidmet , und die interessanten Fassadenmalereien in der Ortschaft kulturell ergänzt.

Dall'abitato di Sardagna al parco delle Poze si percorre un'antica strada romana che collegava Tridentum alle Valli Giudicarie.

From the centre of Sardagna to the park of the Poze there is a Roman road that linked Tridentum to the Giudicarie valleys.

Der Weg von der Ortschaft Sardagna bis zum Park „delle Poze“ verläuft auf einer alten Römerstraße, die das Tridentum mit den Valli Giudicarie verband.

Punto panoramico - Stazione a monte della Funivia

Die Seilbahn von Sardagna - 1.200 Meter lang, mit einer Höhendifferenz von 500 Metern - wurde im Juli 1960 in Betrieb genommen, und zwar als Ersatz ihrer Vorgängerin.

Diese war 1924 erbaut und 1943 bei der Bombardierung durch die Angloamerikaner zerstört worden. Sie besaß eine Länge von 1.100 m und eine Höhendifferenz von 385 m, zwei Gondeln, die jeweils 16 Personen Platz boten (die heutigen können 13 Personen befördern) und galt als eine der kühnsten und ältesten Seilbahnen Europas.

Zona dei castagni Chestnut area Der Kastanienhain

Die Kastanien waren für die einheimische Bevölkerung wegen ihres großen Nährwertes schon immer eine wertvolle Ernährungsquelle. Die Bäume lieferten die Frucht, das Holz und das Tannin. Letzteres wurde hauptsächlich als Arznei und Farbsubstanz verwendet. Die als „Maroni di Sardagna” bezeichnete Qualität wird besonders geschätzt.

9 Murals Fassadenmalerei

Costruita dalla famiglia di Innocenzo Rizzi agli inizi del '900 era un tempo circondata da un bellissimo parco di ippocastani. Ora è sede della comunità Murialdo che svolge attività di accoglienza e di ergoterapia con ragazzi in difficoltà.

Die zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts durch die Familie Innocenzo Rizzi erbaute Villa, war ursprünglich von einem herrlichen RosskastanienPark umgeben. Heute ist sie Sitz der Gemeinschaft Murialdo, die Kids in Schwierigkeiten Aufnahme gewährt und im Bereich der Beschäftigungstherapie aktiv ist.

The chestnut, with its great nutritional value, has always represented a precious food source for the locals. The trees provide fruit, wood and tannin mainly used for medicinal purposes and colouring agent. The famous quality of “maroni from Sardagna” is highly regarded.

Villa Rizzi

Built by Innocenzo Rizzi's family at the beginning of the 20th Century it was once surrounded by a beautiful park of horse chestnuts. Now home to the Murialdo community who run a welcome centre and ergo therapy for children in difficulty.

Le castagne, con il loro grande valore nutrizionale, hanno sempre rappresentato per le popolazioni locali una fonte preziosa di alimento. Le piante fornivano il frutto, il legno ed il tannino impiegato principalmente come medicinale e sostanza colorante. La qualità denominata “maroni di Sardagna” è molto apprezzata.

Completed in July 1960 the Sardagna cable car travels 1200 metres and rises 500m. This replaces its predecessor built in 1924 and destroyed by the Anglo/American bombing in 1943 and which had a span of 1100m and rose 385m. The two cars each had a capacity of 16 (currently 13). It was considered “one of the most resistant and oldest in Europe”.

Dedicata ai SS. Filippo e Giacomo, risale al 1742 e custodisce all'interno due tele di Domenico Zeni da Bardolino (1762-1819) di fine '700 ed una copia della pala del Fogolino realizzata nel 1910 dal pittore Luigi Ratini (1880-1934), lo stesso che ha realizzato le 14 stazioni della Via Crucis.

Die Kirche ist den Heiligen Philip und Jakob geweiht. Sie wurde 1742 errichtet und birgt in ihrem Inneren zwei Ölgemälde von Domenico Zeni aus Bardolino (17621819), die Ende des 18. Jahrhunderts entstanden, und eine Kopie des Altarbildes von Fogolino, 1910 vom Kunstmaler Luigi Ratini (1880-1934) angefertigt, der auch die 14 Stationen des Kreuzwegs schuf.

Dedicated to SS. Filippo and Giacomo, the church dates back to 1742. Inside are two canvases by Domenico Zeni of Bardolino (1762-1819) and a copy of the Fogolino's shovel created in 1910 by the painter Luigi Ratini (18801934), who also painted the 14 Stations of the Cross.

Built in the second half of the 12th Century by Benectines monks who were summoned to Trento by Bishop Alemanno from the Vallalta monastry, Bergamo, the Abbey lies at a lower level than the surrounding terrain, which has been raised due to flooding of the River Adige.

Above the portal on the main facade is a trifora with two Romanesque bas-reliefs either side, the apse is in a Romanesque style. The bell tower was raised in the 18th Century. Inside, the nave has three aisles with a cross-vaulted roof supported by four cylindrical columns forming a Romanesque capital; the ceiling depicts frescoes with red and blue stars on a white background. Originally a convent stood next to the church but in 1778 when the building was variously used as a prison, hospital, and army barracks until the fascist era when it was demolished to make way for new buildings.

Die Abtei wurde in der zweiten Hälfte des 12. Jahrhunderts durch die Benediktiner des Klosters von Vallalta (Bergamo) - sie wurden vom Bischof Alemanno aus Trento beordert - errichtet. Die Abtei befindet sich nicht auf gleicher Höhe mit ihrer unmittelbaren Umgebung, sondern liegt tiefer. Ursache hierfür waren die Überschwemmungen der Etsch, die das Terrain um die Abtei im Laufe der Zeit erhöhten. An der Hauptfassade wird das Portal durch ein Triforium überragt, mit zwei seitlichen romanischen Basreliefs. Die Apsis ist im romanischen Stil. Der Kirchturm wurde im 18. Jahrhundert aufgestockt. Das Kircheninnere besteht aus drei Kirchenschiffen mit Kreuzgewölbe. Letzteres ist mit roten und azurblauen Sternen auf weißem Grund freskoverziert und wird durch vier zylinderförmige Säulen, mit romanischem Kapitell, gestützt. Neben der Kirche befand sich ein Kloster, das bis 1778 als solches diente. Dann wurde es für andere Zwecke verwendet, nämlich als Gefängnis, Krankenhaus und Kaserne. Während des Faschismus fand sein endgültiger Abbruch statt, um anderen Gebäuden Platz zu machen.

Alcuni angoli del paese sono stati recentemente abbelliti con murales raffiguranti la vita contadina di Sardagna fra l''800 e il '900.

Situata nel camposanto, a poca distanza dalla cascata lunga 174 metri, è visibile dal centro di Trento. Gli affreschi del presbiterio, attribuiti a Marcello Fogolino, pittore veneziano che operò al Castello del Buonconsiglio e a Trento negli anni 30 del 1500, sono stati commissionati dalla nobildonna Benedetta Cipolla da Balzanis.

Some corners of the village have recently been adorned with murals depicting farm life in Sardagna between the 19th and 20th Century.

Situated in the necropolis, a short distance away from the 174m waterfall, and visible from Trento city centre. The frescoes in the chancel are attributed to Marcello Fogolino, Venetian painter who worked at the Buonconsiglio castle and in Trento in the 1530s, were commissioned to the noblewoman Benedetta Cipolla da Balzanis.

Einige Winkel des Dorfs sind kürzlich durch Fassadenmalereien verschönt worden, die das bäuerliche Leben von Sardagna zwischen dem 19. und 20. Jahrhundert versinnbildlichen.

Sie befindet sich im Gelände des Friedhofs, nicht weit vom Wasserfall (174 m Gefälle) entfernt und ist auch vom Stadtzentrum in Trento erkennbar. Die Fresken des Presbyteriums werden Marcello Fogolino zugeschrieben, dem venezianischen Maler, der im Schloss Buonconsiglio und in Trento in den 30er Jahren des 16. Jahrhunderts tätig war. Seinen Auftrag erhielt er durch die Edelfrau Benedetta Cipolla da Balzanis.
