Village of Belcarra announces appointment of Melony Burton as new CAO
The Village of Belcarra is pleased to announce the appointment of Melony Burton to the position of Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Melony will be taking up her duties in Belcarra on April 24, 2025. She replaces Paula Richardson who is retiring
Following Paula’s retirement announcement, the Village began an extensive recruitment process. There was a positive response to the posting, and a number of excellent candidates were interviewed by Council. In the end, it was determined that Melony was the most suitable candidate to fill the position.
Melony has over 20 years of local government experience in positions of progressive management responsibility. With a background in engineering, furthered by education in science and business, Melony has extensive experience with strategic planning and project management. Most recently, Melony held the position of Manager, Infrastructure Planning with the City of Port Coquitlam, where she has worked for the past eight years. In this role, she led the development and implementation of many strategic, operational and project plans for citywide initiatives. In addition to her strong technical skills, she brings an exceptional ability to coordinate people and resources, and the competencies to lead and work in a diverse team environment.
Mayor Jamie Ross is pleased to welcome Melony to Belcarra, and is looking forward to her joining the organization and benefitting from the wealth of experience she brings with her.
Mayor Ross also expressed his deepest appreciation on behalf of himself and Council to Paula Richardson for the kindness, commitment, skill, time and effort she brought to the role of CAO and the many years that she dedicated to the Village as a member of the Village Office staff . -30-
