- W&M will host Norfolk State University Sunday afternoon at Kaplan Arena. The Tribe and the Spartans will meet for the seventh-straight season. Since 1998, the Tribe is 16-2 against the Spartans, including a 55-44 win in Norfolk last season. In the win, Sydney Wagner scored 29 points, and had two rebounds and a steal. Junior Bre Bellamy scored six points and grabbed four rebounds. - In its most recent match-up on Sunday against Richmond, the Tribe fell to the Spiders 52-90. Wagner tied a team-high of 12 points, four rebounds, and three assists, while freshmen Ava Stevenson contributed a personal best of 12 points, 4-of-4 from the free-throw line, and an assist. Graduate Student Kate Sramac scored 11 points with four assists and a pair of steals. - The Tribe shot (6-10) from the free-throw line Sunday night. This season, the Tribe is shooting 76.5% from the charity stripe. That number ranks second in the CAA. - The Tribe has held two opponents to under 50 points so far this season. Under head coach Ed Swanson, the Tribe has held opponents to under 50 points in 29 games and are 28-1 in those contests. - Leading guard Sydney Wagner recently reached the 800 point mark this season. Wagner leads all Tribe players with 112 points through ten games this season and is ranked fifth in the CAA for three-point field goals made. -Consistently graduate student Kate Sramac has stuffed the stat sheet. On Sunday Sramac scored 11 points four assists, and pair of steals. Sramac leads the team in rebounds averaging 5.7 game and leads in steals with 18. - Freshman Ava Stevenson has scored at least six points in six of her seven appearances this season. On Sunday Stevenson scored a career-high of 12 points and shot 4-of-4 from the charity line. Stevenson has knocked down at least one three-pointer in all six games. The freshman is shooting 46% from three. - Bre Bellamy has been one of the most efficient scorers on the team, shooting 51% from the field and sixth in the CAA. Bellamy has scored double-figures in five games this season and is the second-highest on the team in rebounds, averaging 5.9 per contest. - Freshman post player Dani McTeer has started in each of the ten games this season and been one of Swanson's most consistent players. McTeer is averaging 7.8 points per game and scored in double digits three times this season. McTeer is shooting 76% from the free-throw line (11th in the CAA). She leads all CAA freshmen averaging 5.2 rebounds per game. - W&M head coach Ed Swanson enjoyed a noteworthy 2019-20 season individually. He was named the CAA Co-Coach of the Year following the Tribe’s historic season. Swanson won his 500th career game on Nov. 26, became just the third coach in W&M history to win 100 games with the Tribe on Jan. 12, and was inducted into the Northeast Conference Hall of Fame in January. - The Tribe has had a fierce defense through nine games this season. Holding opponents to just 56.4 points per contest, the Tribe ranks third in the league. Swanson's club has been particularly strong defending the three, holding teams to a 25% mark from deep.
