W&M currently owns a 1-2 record and is coming off an open week after last Saturday’s game at Elon was postponed due to COVID protocols within the Phoenix’s program. Although he missed the Tribe’s last game, a 38-10 setback to top-ranked James Madison, sophomore quarterback Hollis Mathis leads the Tribe offensively and ranks second in the CAA in total offense (235.5), third

in passing yards per game (189.5) and third in completion percentage (60.8). Defensively, W&M ranks among the top half of the CAA in scoring defense (23.0) and passing defense (167.7). Ranked 12th nationally, Richmond currently owns a 3-0 record and is coming off an open week after last Saturday’s game against topranked James Madison was postponed due to COVID protocols within the Spiders’ program. UR boasts the CAA’s second-ranked passing attack (205.7), while it ranks third in the conference in scoring defense (15.0) and rushing defense (55.0). Quarterback Joe Mancuso leads the league in total of-

fense (250.7), while linebacker Tristan Wheeler ranks tied for first in the conference with 9.0 tackles per game. Series History Saturday’s contest for the Capital Cup between W&M and UR will mark the 132nd meeting between the two schools in what has been traditionally called the “Oldest Rivalry in the South” – but may be more accurately described as the most PLAYED rivalry in the South. The all-time series is tied, 63-63-5. The teams first met in 1898, when Richmond blanked W&M, 15-0. Only three other Division I series have a longer history than that of W&M vs. Richmond.

Team captain Ted Hefter is one of five Tribe seniors who will be honored prior to Saturday’s season finale against Richmond at Zable Stadium.
