First and 10 William & Mary will look to extend its winning streak to four games when it opens its home conference slate against UAlbany at Zable Stadium on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. The game will be televised by Cox YurView, while a video stream is available via FloFootball.com. After an open date last weekend, W&M enters Saturday’s contest with a 3-1 record overall and a 1-0 mark in conference play. The Tribe extended its winning streak to three games with a 34-34 win at Elon in its CAA opener during its last outing. W&M’s current record marks the program’s best start since 2014, while a victory against UAlbany will give the Tribe its first 2-0 start in league play since 2004. W&M’s offense continues to improve each week, as its scoring production has increased every game and
is averaging 28.3 points per game during the last three contests. Conversely, W&M’s defense ranks 12th nationally with 13 sacks, 10 of which have come during the last three games. UAlbany is looking for its first win this season after opening the year with an 0-4 record overall and a 0-2 mark in conference action. All four losses have come against quality opponents, however, as its early season slate included matchups against three FCS foes currently ranked – North Dakota State, Delaware and Rhode Island – as well as Syracuse. The Great Danes are led by a pair of All-Americans in quarterback, Jeff Undercuffler, who is a former CAA Offen-
sive Rookie of the Year (2019) and a runner up for the Jerry Rice National Freshman of the Year, and running back Karl Mofor. Defensively, defensive end Jared Verse leads the Great Danes with three sacks, while linebacker Jackson Ambrush has totaled a team-high 35 tackles. Series History Saturday’s game will mark just the third meeting between W&M and UAlbany. The programs split the first two matchups, as W&M rallied from a 12-point deficit with a pair of touchdowns late in the fourth quarter to earn a thrilling 25-22 victory at Zable Stadium in 2018 before suffering a 39-31 setback on the road the following season.
QB Darius Wilson was honored as the Stats Perform FCS National Freshman Player of the Week after helping lead W&M to a 34-31 Elon in the Tribe’s last contest.
