When asked about how Covid 19 has affected her, she smiled and said; “It has been tough isolating.” “No events or author celebrations; you can’t physically hug or love on the women who are in our tribe!” “I try to stay focused and write. I hope the Facebook lives and YouTube interviews are enough of an inspiration for now, as we move forward.”

What inspired you to write your book?
There is a great desire in the hearts of so many people to grow and evolve, yet that desire is often stymied, and it can be difficult to understand why. I wanted to address this challenge to help readers realize that the resolution to much of the human angst is resolvable.
Deep hurt runs through the veins of individual lives and in the collective human experience. This suffering, which is expressed in many forms, is rooted in a disconnect between one’s inner depths and the overwhelm of life’s demands. In the over ten years since I started writing the original edition of this book, there’s been a profound increase in social, economic, environmental, and political upheavals that magnify this division. What we need, what so many seek, is a relationship to our integrated, whole nature. It has never been more important for we humans to reconnect with the deeper truths of our nature. When we do so, we discover and build our capacities for using our unique life force for our own highest good, and for the good of the collective.
The Enneagram is often narrowly described as a personality typing system, but when used fully, as it is in Deep Living, it gives us a map for healing the inner divisions, awakening from our most restricted and confined existence so that we may recover our liberated and expansive nature. Thus, I was inspired to offer a new edition of this book in service of healing and wholeness.
What do you want others to get out of your book? It is my hope that readers will feel that their real inner experience has been recognized and named, perhaps for the first time, and with that, they experience relief that they are not alone in the world. They discover their unique path to recovering their wholeness.
I hope that this book will be used as a valued guide to life—a book that will serve as a companion, a resource, a reference, and that will be well-used time and time again, to support readers in feeling more at home in themselves. My great wish for all who read this book is that they will continue to experience increasingly expansive love and presence in their lives. It is not only possible, but also probable to have this experience on a regular basis. And it is absolutely practical.
Who is your audience? I have found that there is a range of people in my audience who share the common thread of realizing that the external world cannot provide them with the answers they seek about life. My readers are curious about and committed to going below the surface of life to understand themselves better, be more at ease with themselves and have more effective and satisfying relationships. Those who consider themselves to be on a spiritual quest tend to carry lingering questions about their authentic nature or hope to have an inner hunger met. Most of my readers are women, but an increasing number of men are exploring the big questions about the territory of the inner life.
Are you planning another book? I am in the midst of writing a book on an entirely new body of work that I call EnneaCrossings™, which has been in development since 2012. It brings together two powerful ancient symbols of conscious awakening: The Enneagram and the cross-cultural cross. This integrated symbol is an invitation to our awakening heart and experiencing the dynamism of our inherent interconnectedness. I am very excited about it, and have been leading retreats on this work for the last several years.

Spotlight Rennu Dhillon

I was born in Mombasa, Kenya. I moved to United Kingdom where I went to middle and high school, and then graduated in Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (Hons) from University of Aston, Birmingham. I moved to the United States in 1986. I joined my first husband in the business of developing food franchises. I went through a bitter divorce after 4 years (1991) due to a fraudulent and very abusive marriage. Took my 2 young babies (3 and 1) and started my life again. I did many things while fighting a custody battle for 9 years from running my business in skin care, to a dating matrimonial agency, a recruiting agency. I finally found my calling in child care in 2001, when I launched Genius Kids. Today we are a franchise with over 30 centers in the Bay Area. We have been recognized as the “school that shapes tomorrow’s citizens”, winning Best Preschool and Accolades by various organizations and media outlets. Our focus is “everyone is born a genius” and the goal is to develop Future Leaders, building confidence, leadership and communication. During the course of my divorce, I completed my Doctorate of Science in Naturopathy. I love education, and working with children is my calling. My hobbies are writing stories for children. I am a trained public speaker, and travel worldwide to speak at events to empower women. I host a weekly radio show called Voices, on KLOK 1170 AM, as well as Candid Conversations with Rennu Dhillon. I have co-authored the book, “Break Free to Stand in Your Power”. I
have my own YouTube Channel – With Miss Rennu. My dream is to empower children and women to find their voice and express without fear.
What would you like to spotlight? Your business? Your book? Your Event? I am a complete package of my business, Genius Kids, and my voice which is reflected in my business, my YouTube Channel, and my writings. I would probably say spotlight my book which indirectly will spotlight my other work.
Tell us about it. I am still undecisive on the name and waiting for Rebecca’s feedback. My initial choice of a name is, “Stop Controlling, Start Coaching”, a parental guide on how to raise confident leaders. I felt this book is necessary since there is so much pressure placed on the academics, that parents forget the importance of soft skills, and developing what I have named as the 13 critical “C” skills. My book explains how to develop these skills using a coaching style of parenting, and creating a more - healthier environment at home amongst all the stress we are enduring.
Tell me something you have overcome or success you have achieved. I have had to face many obstacles in my life especially after I immigrated to the United States. I endured an abusive marriage where both my former husband and employee broke my trust. Being of Indian origin, divorce was looked upon as taboo in our culture so I had to fight many battles for custody with little or no support from my Indian community. I chose not to play victim and my approach in life is that destiny lies in my hands, and the choices of the path I wish to raise my daughters was mine. I used the confidence and leadership skills my parents had instilled in me growing up, to restart my life and build it again from scratch. I have raised 2 wonderful daughters, as well as opened many successful businesses. As a minority today I own and manage a successful franchise, which is self-funded, and a family venture.
What would you like to achieve in 2020? Get past Covid-19 and put it past me, write and launch a successful book and YouTube Channel. I am

My favorite makeup tips and tricks Janvier Guidry I am going to start off with some priming tricks and work my way through each step of makeup. I have always had really larges pores, which becomes a problem when applying foundation because it creates holes in your makeup. One of my lifesavers when priming is to start off with a good moisturizer for your specific skin type, then follow it with a blurring primer. Blurring primer essentially fills in all of those pores on your face and gives you a photo ready and smooth look. My next tip is to always apply powder before your foundation, yes, before. As silly as it may sound, it does wonders for the foundation application and makes for a smoother and fuller look. When applying foundation, always use a brush for the application part then follow behind with a sponge. Next, we will tackle eyebrows. There is so much confusion as to how to properly fill in your brows. As someone with naturally thick brows, if I’m going for an everyday look, brow gel is my go-to. Brow gel allows me to brush in some color to give my brows a fuller look.
If I’m doing my makeup for a night out, I like to use a pomade. A pomade is just a little pot of eyebrow gel and I like to use this with a very thin brush. I use this thin brush and outline from the middle at the bottom and top of my brow to give it a sharp outline and fill it in. Then after the middle part is filled in, I take my brow gel and brush that in at the start of my brows, ultimately giving my brows a cleaner look. As far as mascara goes, do not just go up with it, when applying also apply from the top of your lashes to give them a fuller look and make sure to put focus on the tips of your lashes to elongate them.
Next, we will discuss contouring and highlighting. When highlighting, I take an extremely light concealer and put three dots under my eyes, one on either temple, and on my nose and under my lip, then I blend. When contouring, I like to use a darker concealer shade and put that at the tops of my cheekbones and around my hairline and my jaw line, and blend it. After you blend in all of your concealers, come back with a powdered bronzer and go over what you just contoured to give a more chiseled look. When applying highlight, always apply at the very tops of your cheekbone, not over your blush or contour, so that you get the full glowing effect. These are my favorite makeup tips and tricks, and I hope you all enjoy and try them out.
