Her famous advice: “NEVER ever EVER give up!! Every step of the journey is the journey, every up, every down and every Uturn is a lesson! Turn your PAIN into PASSION flourishing your life and journeys PURPOSE. Maken YOUR Dreams become REALity!" Her adult years have been a “Medical Mystery” and I have been on a MISSION! I am so incredibly
thankful for every step of my journey as it has led me right to this moment to broadcast, inspire and give hope to others to NEVER, EVER, EVER, give up! When times get tough, dig a little deeper and get more tough! Listening to my inner self has saved my life on many occasions!
Growing up in small town Saskatchewan, Canada with two older brothers, I lived my whole childhood as a tomboy. Throughout the years, I was bullied, lied to and cheated on. Surgeons decided in my mid 20’s the only answer to my bowel problem was a colostomy bag, as they didn’t function properly. I respectfully refused! I underwent a heart ablation surgery for the arrhythmic activity, which I was experiencing. Surgery was inconclusive and in recovery my body collapsed with the stress of the procedure. I did end up having a full recovery. The roller coasters and mission continued with numerous emergency room visits, having four colonoscopies, two endoscopes, ten ultrasounds, and numerous rounds of appointments in Alberta and Saskatchewan, Canada. Lab work and many prescribed medications. I often felt like I was having an appendix attack, however always sent home with medication I refused to take! At a personal development workshop in October 2014, I, at that time, learned that my bowel issues connected to years of stress leading back to distrust and years of hurt. After having six bowel movements in two days, which was previously unheard of in a month, I became aware that health and lifestyles are connected between the Mind, Body and Soul, PHYSICALLY, MENTALLY, EMOTIONALLY, SPIRITUALLY and FINANCIALLY! November 2015, I was put on a waiting list for an MRI (in Canada up to 1 year wait) on my brain, to check for a tumor on my pituitary gland. July, the following year, the MRI came back inconclusive. I had been burdened with pain for 14+ years, in December 2016 with 3 different hospitals visits in 2 days, 2 negative CT scans, I was once again off to another ultrasound and based on the severity of pain I was on fentanyl, dilaudid and morphine all unsuccessful. I needed to relieve my bladder; the technician informed me we would now have to do an internal ultrasound, by all means, let’s try something different—and finally a successful diagnosis! On February 6, 2017, I had an appointment with the specialist and he agreed with the diagnosis, putting me on his urgent list for surgery. On February 14, 2017 I met with another specialist and her entire team, who kept me informed so the procedure could move forward. My surgery date was scheduled for February 21, 2017. I sat recovering, realizing and reminiscing about the medical mystery that seemed impossible. 32 years old, with no children— having had a hysterectomy with the diagnosis of adenomyosis. YET, alive and becoming healthy! Recovery was far from pleasant although, I am a go getter, full of life, high energy and positivity with the mindset that I would bounce back in no time! The first few months were great may have over done it yet physically I was getting stronger as the months went on, I was silently slipping away. I had a lack of energy and moods very unpredictable. I had been doing some travelling and I found myself hunched over in pain in the airport upon return I was quickly scheduled for some rare tests resulting in another colonoscopy and removal of my gallbladder. Sigh back to square one.
“You need to understand that life isn’t what you’re given; it is what you create, what you overcome and what you aim to achieve that makes it beautiful.”
