Hi!

My name is Tricia and I like to solve problems. A diligent worker with a curiosity that drives me to seek out new challenges, I’m always prepared to put extensive time and effort into learning new skills. Actively involved in Ottawa’s creative community, I enjoy designing posters for local musicians and have organized volunteer teams for art shows. I’m currently finishing up my last year at Carleton University’s School of Industrial Design.

2

Always working to meet the needs of both the user and the client, I look forward to contributing to the creative field of design.

ClearFit

Web Application 8 Months Clear Fit is a company specializing in applicant job fit analysis. I worked on this project from the beginning, building off of simple pre-existing designs provided by the company. I had the opportunity to see the project through from beginning to end, and worked closely with a visual designer, UX researcher and developers. This project was managed by Macadamian.

3

Interface Development

The design process began in Balsamiq and was iterated upon in Illustrator. Original designs were heavily influenced by heat-maps and tiled-dashboards. However, throughout the process of working with the client, visual designer and test users, the design was modified to behave as an interactive list.

From the Applicant list, users can visit the profile of an applicant to view the applicant’s resume, interview results, and job fit.

EurekaLive Desktop Widget 4 Months Callminer is a company specializing in conversational analytics for improving call quality and agent performance. The EurekaLive Agent assistan is a near real-time speech monitoring device that can give feedback to agents, created for Callminer.

8

Expanded

Initial Concepts

The goal was to create an interactive widget to provide feedback that could be read at a glance. The UI had to be persistent on the screen and take up minimal real estate.

9

Functionality The widget provides scrolling text and colour coded feedback, giving the Agent prompts and advice about how to properly respond to customer comments and concerns. The sentiment analysis technology by Callminer is capable of carefully monitoring call audio to provide appropriate, near real-time feedback from subtle cues in tone of voice and speech patterns. The widget is able to monitor the call for key words and tones that will trigger events.

10

Colour Coding As the call moves in a positive direction the outer circle changes to green; however if the conversation moves in a negative direction it turns red.

FormsCentral Web Application 8 Weeks FormsCentral is an Adobe web-based form creation application. The application allows users to distribute forms digitally, collect form data and create or customize forms and form templates. I primarily worked on visual designs for the template section and new work flows for the form creation UI.

12

Interface Development

The goal was to create a less intimidating appearance, specifically in regards to the “custom-form workflow. We offered suggestions to improve the user experience with respect to initiating a new form, as well as the template display UI, which was originally an overwhelming interface.

13

Editing a form I was responsible for creating the interaction design for the editing interface, as well as providing several assets. One main contribution I made was the new workflow for the “submit button.

14

Calculation Tool We also created a new calculation tool, which would allow users to create automated fields such as “total amount owed.

15

Cardinal Album

Album Artwork & Merchandise 2 Weeks 3MD is a band that I’ve worked for designing posters, branding and album art. For this album I used illustrator, photoshop and water-colour.

Achieving Pain Relief at Home Portable Shiatsu Massager 16 Weeks An incremental design project that aimed to improve upon a product in home health care. Working with users to identify key issues and maintaining user contact throughout the design process was vital to this project.

17

Market & User Research

18

Concept Development & Prototypes A variety of initial prototypes were created and tested with users before arriving at the final design concept.

Continuous communication with users through testing and research helped shape the final product. The main needs identified were: 1. The massage must be vibration free 2. The device must be cordless 3. The device must be portable and handsfree

19

Final Materials

The main materials used for the body of the massager are polyurethane textiles (pleather) and a nylon/spandex mixed textile (stretch athletic mesh). The pleather imitates the look and feel of leather yet is easier to manufacture and less expensive. The stretch mesh provides comfort and breathability. The pivot mechanism in the straps would be a simple grommet-rivet system, likely made of Teflon to allow ease of motion, and would be sourced from a manufacturer of textile fasteners. The remote would be constructed from injection molded ABS.

Bringing the Garden inside LED Garden - Grow Pod 8 Weeks

This project aims to create a self sustaining garden for small urban living spaces. Many kitchens in small homes and apartments have little natural light. To help alleviate this problem the garden has LEDs built into it to promote herb growth even when natural light is not present. A water reservoir allows the user to avoid constant watering; the clear reservoir allows the user to clearly see when it needs to be refilled. A charcoal filter in the bottom prevents over watering.

22

Use Cycle 1. Push seed pods into soil and add water.

3. Set lighting to appropriate cycle (low light or full light).

2. Remove lid from reservoir and fill with water.

4. Let herbs grow!

23

Concept Development Elements from each of these concepts were used in the final design Wall mounted open Garden with permanent
