This unique program bridges the gap from the non-credit to the credit side of Tri-C’s jazz program. Students from JazzPrep can be recommended by their instructors for the Tri-C JazzFest High School All-Stars band. They will initially be part of JazzPrep, and over time will be guided into the Jazz Studies program where they can apply to participate in the All-Stars for college credit through the PSEOP program. The Tri-C Jazz All-Stars are one of the top bands in Ohio, and boast alumni who have gone on to Juilliard, Berklee College of Music, and Oberlin Conservatory, among other world-class programs. Internationally renowned recording artists Dominick Farinacci, Sean Jones and Jerome Jennings all started in the Tri-C Jazz All-Stars. The All-Stars perform regionally in venues such as PlayhouseSquare, Tri-C JazzFest Cleveland, Tower City and many others. This past spring the Tri-C JazzFest High School All Stars performed at the Hanna Theatre with the Monterey JazzFest Next Generation Jazz Orchestra, and will perform several times at the 31st Annual Tri-C JazzFest, and with the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra Quintet w/Sean Jones on Sunday, May 15th, on Tri-C’s Main Stage Theatre.

artsprep jazz program Tri-C is recognized internationally for the caliber of its jazz education programs, and its design serves as the inspiration for the entre ArtsPrep program. Students interested in exploring jazz music start in JazzPrep at different levels of playing ability. As they improve their skill and interest level, they can move on to the Tri-C JazzFest High School All Stars, under the direction of Stephen Enos, which is a premier ensemble. There are two stages to this program: those moving up from JazzPrep, and those who are taking the ensemble for college credit. Students who then move on to, and successfully complete, the Tri-C JazzStudies for-credit program will have assembled enough credits to be recommended to Berklee College of Music in Boston as a junior.
