The Greenville County Library System is proud to launch our first adult summer reading program, beginning in June, 2009. This year’s theme, Green Reads, will focus on the environment.
This summer
, Upstate Forever has joined the library in coordinating an exciting schedule of events to complement our adult summer reading program. From bike rides on the Swamp Rabbit Trail to guided tours of local parks and rivers, the scheduled events will allow participants to appreciate and explore the natural resources of the area and increase their knowledge of local and regional environmental issues.

Events are available for all budgets, including some at no cost! Individuals ages 18 and over are invited to read books and join in activities focused on recycling, nature and the environment. Participants are encouraged to record books read and to return reading logs for a free gift! Recommended Green Reads and a full list of events are available on our website. Pick up a reading log at any Greenville County Library System location and join in! Greenville County Library System and community partners are involved in making this a meaningful experience for all who participate. Due to high attendance during summer months, in many locations scheduled story times and special programs cannot accommodate groups. If you are seeking permission for your group of 10 or more, please call the location you wish to attend to check availability for a reservation. Groups that do not have prior permission to attend a program will be denied admission. Morning Summer Specials replace all regularly scheduled morning story times. Seating is limited due to fire code regulations.

Dog Days of Summer

Play Step Up to the Plate @ your library – the baseball trivia contest that could win you a trip to the National Baseball Hall of Fame! All ages are encouraged to use the print and electronic resources available at their library to answer a series of trivia questions designed for their age group and inspired by the history and diversity of our national pastime.
