This year, the Greenville County Library System will celebrate its 90th anniversary. Our public library has seen some great changes over the years. The first “Main” library was opened in a small storefront on Coffee Street in May of 1921. The above photo from 1930 was taken outside of the Tigerville Branch. This small, one room building was bought for $200 and was one of the three branch locations at the time. Today the libary system spans the county - from Travelers Rest to Fountain Inn and nine other locations in-between, plus a bookmobile to reach rural areas. Stop by the South Carolina Room for more images of our 90 years of service to Greenville County!

Mission: To serve Greenville County as the best provider of guided access to quality resources for information, education and leisure.
The United States Constitution requires schools to respect the right of all external organizations to distribute flyers to students at school if the school permits any such organization to distribute flyers. Accordingly, the school cannot discriminate among groups wishing to distribute flyers at school and does not endorse the content of any flyer distributed at school. The school encourages parents to assist their children in making choices appropriate for them.
