Three Centuries of learning and teaching, providing an education fit for the future go hand in hand at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David. The University of Wales Trinity Saint David was formed on 18 November 2010 and holds the distinction of being one of the UK’s newest as well as its oldest universities. It was created from the merger of Trinity University College and University of Wales Lampeter. The latter was awarded a charter in 1828, which was extended for the creation of the new university, meaning that Trinity Saint David holds the oldest royal charter in England and Wales after the universities of Oxford and Cambridge. In 2011 HRH the Prince of Wales became its Royal Patron. In October 2012, Swansea Metropolitan became an integral part of the Trinity Saint David group although it will retain its own brand identity for the purposes of recruiting students to the city. The University’s reach also extends to other countries around the world providing strong academic

and research networks. Activities include the recruitment of international students onto university programmes in Wales and in London as well as staff and student exchange programmes, summer schools and cultural visits. The University is home to the first Confucius Institute in Wales which provides opportunities for students as well as schools in the region to learn Mandarin and to engage with Chinese culture. The WelshAmerican Academy has been established to celebrate Welsh influence in the USA by promoting opportunities for cultural and educational exchange. The University’s expertise is also being exploited through its research work and specialist curriculum in many countries including the Middle East. University

History

The University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) was formed on 18 November 2010 through the merger of the University of Wales Lampeter (1822) and Trinity University College Carmarthen (1848), under Lampeterâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Royal Charter of 1828. On the 1 August 2013, Swansea Metropolitan University became part of UWTSD.

The UWTSD Group includes Coleg Sir Gâr and Coleg Ceredigion as part of a dual sector group structure comprising further education colleges and the university. The UWTSD Group has over 25,000 learners across 17 campuses in rural and city locations. Together we deliver clear, tangible benefits for learners, employers, industry and communities by offering a vocational approach from entry level to postdoctoral research. The Group will be further strengthened with the merger of University of Wales into UWTSD in due course.

Historically the University and its founding institutions have placed their degreeawarding powers in abeyance and offered degrees of the University of Wales. UWTSD began to award its own degrees in July 2014. The University’s London campus, or ‘UWTSD London’, has been operational since March 2012. It was originally located in Islington, however, in October 2013 it relocated within Kennington Park and near the Oval cricket grounds in the heart of London.

UWTSD was awarded ‘First Class’ status for sustainability in the People & Planet University League Table 2016.

UWTSD London is located within Kennington Business Park which is situated at the intersection of Brixton Road and Camberwell New Road. Oval tube station (Northern line) is a 150m walk away providing direct access to Waterloo, London Bridge and The City. There are also numerous bus links direct into The City and Victoria (as well as to Peckham, New Cross and Brixton, which offer a good choice of reasonably priced accommodation to rent).

Food and entertainment

The Business Park is adjacent to Kennington Park, a large public park and gardens which hosts a wide variety of events and also offers sports facilities, including tennis, basketball, netball, skateboarding, a fitness trail, and allweather floodlit ‘Astroturf’ for football and hockey. The Oval Cricket ground is a five minute walk from the University campus, is home to Surrey Cricket Club and was the venue for the first test match between Australia and England. Though Lords is considered the home of Cricket- the Oval has played an integral part in the history of the game and visitors to the ground can enjoy one of the best preserved Sports arenas in England.

Business Management This course is an ideal insight into the fast-moving world of business today. It has been designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed within the public, private or third sector. Students who wish to study this programme may come from a wide variety of subject backgrounds, including, but not necessarily business management. This programme suits those who prefer to learn a broad repertoire of business skills, rather than focusing on one specialism. This involves learning core business skills relating to, for example, marketing, human resources, information systems/e-Business, accounting and finance. Students would undertake a range of tasks associated with business organisations, and would enjoy developing sophisticated solutions to business problems and opportunities.

BSc (Hons)

Cloud Computing The overall aim of this programme is to develop students with the skills and knowledge to design, build and extend the internet infrastructure and to design a variety of distributed applications. Cloud Computing is a specialisation of computer networking that is concerned with the management of large data in data centres, virtualisation and the provision of cloud services. Applicants to this programme would typically be technically minded, and they may have previously studied engineering, computing or the sciences. This programme is designed for students interested in computer networks but specialising in areas such as virtualisation and the computer systems used in data centre that support cloud based services. They would also be interested in databases and developing an understanding of managing and analysing big data, and implementing cloud services.

The programme covers a wide range of general business and management modules. It will also equip students with the skills and knowledge to conduct advanced research into a variety of marketing management issues whilst focusing on the interrelationship of marketing management and organisational performance. This MBA is aimed at students who may aspire to a career or role in positions such as marketing manager, brand manager, market research analyst, and new product manager in the UK or overseas. Those with strong financial skills could seek a career in strategic or market related planning, whilst there may also be opportunities as sales manager, advertising manager, public relations director, and marketing communications manager.

Music Industry * Entrepreneurship If you aspire to work in the dynamic and evolving global music industry, the MA Music Industry Entrepreneurship at Tileyard is the perfect opportunity to learn from and immerse yourself in the largest professional music community in Europe. The MA Music Industry Entrepreneurship is delivered on the UWTSD London campus and at Tileyard Studios, Kingâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Cross, London. Tileyard Studios is the largest professional music community in Europe featuring 82 recording studios, 110 entertainment businesses and the new Tileyard Education Centre. Study modules, that have been designed to reflect the stakeholders and food chain of the music industry, include Creative Music Management, Economics, Lean Business Planning, Marketing, Legal and Business Affairs, Live Event Management and New Media Technology.

Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) The Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) is a professional doctorate which provides a structured programme of study through the delivery of taught modules, closely integrated with an individualâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s professional career development. The programme has two parts, and is composed of taught modules and a doctorallevel work-based research project. The element of reflection on professional practice distinguishes the professional doctorate from the award of a PhD.

Entry onto the programme is by individual merit. Normally students under the age of 21 will have at least 1 A Level or BTEC National Diploma/Certificate or equivalent. Mature Candidates â&#x20AC;&#x201C; experience can often be taken into consideration in lieu of formal qualifications. Grades are important; however, our offers are not solely based on academic results. We are interested in creative people that demonstrate a strong commitment to their chosen subject area and therefore we welcome applications from individuals from a wide range of backgrounds. To assess student suitability for their chosen course we normally arrange interviews for all applicants at which your skills, achievements and life experience will be considered as well as your qualifications.

BA (Hons) Business Management and BSc (Hons) Cloud Computing

Eligibility will be determined by means

of an interview with the admissions tutor and subject to confirmation with the Programme Director and final confirmation with the university. 3) Applicants who have been taught and assessed in languages other than English should have an English language equivalent overall IELTS of 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in the four components 4) A non-honours undergraduate degree in a related subject from a UK university and relevant evidenced experience (normally equivalent to two years) or an equivalent certificated degree from a nonUK institution. 5) Non-degree qualifications such as the Higher National Diploma or equivalent overseas qualifications, where the applicant has appropriate employment experience (normally equivalent to a minimum of three years). 6) Qualifications from relevant Professional Bodies, which are at a level below UK Honours Degree and relevant professional experience, (normally equivalent to a minimum of three years).

Doctor of Business Administration (DBA):

1) The normal minimum entrance requirement for applicants for candidature for professional doctorates is a masterâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s degree with a Merit classification or an overall mark of minimum 60% in an area relevant to the doctoral programme, awarded by a UK or other recognised University or higher education institution, or by the Council for National Academic Awards (CNAA). 2) Proficiency in English of candidates whose first language is not English is at or exceeding an overall IELTS score (or equivalent in any other approved test) of 6.5 with no lower than 6.5 in reading and writing, and with no lower than 5.5 in listening and speaking.

Top 10 Tips As you prepare to study in the UK, the UK Border Force has developed ten top tips to make sure you have everything you need for a smooth arrival.

1. Non-European Economic Area

If youâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;re from a nonEuropean Economic Area (EEA) country, complete the landing card given to you during your flight before you arrive at border control.

2. Don't forget your Passport!

Have your passport ready. Remove it from any cover, and remember to remove sunglasses and hats.

3. Your Study Information

Keep information about the programme youâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;re studying in your hand luggage. This must be in paper copy (not an electronic copy on tablet or phone). This includes your university Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) number.

7. Tobacco, Alcohol & Gifts There are also restrictions on the amount of tobacco, alcohol and gifts you can bring to the UK. If you exceed your duty-free allowance and do not declare them, all of your items could be taken away from you.

4. Destination Details

Keep any recent bank statements and details of where you are staying in your hand luggage, Border Force officers may ask to see this information.

8. Illegal & Counterfit Goods Never bring in counterfeit goods, illegal drugs, offensive weapons or indecent or obscene material. Some items are restricted and will require a licence or permit.

5. Border Force

Expect Border Force officers to ask simple questions about your stay in the UK when you arrive at passport control.

6. Restricted Items

Do not bring in any meat or dairy products from outside the European Union (EU). There are restrictions on traditional medicines, food products such as fish, eggs and honey, and some fruit, vegetables and plants (including bulbs, seeds, cut flowers and tree bark).
