Where has the year gone? It seems we always ask this question as the Holiday Season approaches. We run around shopping for our loved ones, having dinner with close friends and attending parties as we unwind after a long and busy year. We celebrate changes and successes and hope for next year to bring a little more peace to us and others. On the Real Estate front, we have had a very successful 2011. With low interest rates and dwindling local inventory, I wonder what 2012 has in store? Will Indian River County see a housing boom in our little bubble? Will the country see a turn around the way we have over the last two years? Only time will tell. No matter what happens, I hope we all find time to enjoy ourselves and help one another. Merry Christmas

**** Used the restaurant as spot to pop the question, the staff was amazing as far as catering to all my wishes for the night, the staff and food are the best around and this place is a must try for the finest dining experience on the treasure coast. I have traveled all around to local eateries and haven't found a hole in the wall dining experience like this fine dining gem has to offer. On my travels will continue to travel here and enjoy what this establishment has to offer... fine dining, great service, and memories. **** Delicious! Mimmo's Scampi Grill was incredible from start to finish! We had a friendly greeting, helpful and prompt service, and each course added to the amazing experience!! Holy cow, this place was amazing!! ***** From the atmosphere, to the service, to the array of excellent dishes, this restaurant time and time again has been and will continue to be one of mine and the wife's favorite spots! **** This place was great. It has been recently updated and the interior is very modern and fun. It was a great place to spend a rainy afternoon with the family! ***** I love this place. When someone says "bowling" my OCD kicks in and I think about other peoples feet being in the shoes that I am going to wear and it just grosses me out, strange but true. This place was not the dirty bowling alleys of yesteryear but clean and swank with cool IKEA lighting and a bar area. Have a few beers and watch the kids bowl..ahhh, lovely.

The 2011 Vero Beach Christmas Parade will be meandering Ocean Drive. The parade will make its way down Ocean Drive from Flamevine to Greytwig. The Rotary Club and Boy Scouts will be collecting canned goods for the needy. Roads will be closed so take your time but get there early. The Parade begins at 5:00 pm on Saturday December 3rd. See you there.

The Rotary Club will present its second annual Vero Beach Rotary Nautical Flea Market at Riverside Park on December 10-11, 2011 (Sat. 9am-5pm - Sun. 9am to 4pm) This will be the major fund raiser for the Rotary Club of Vero Beach and all the proceeds will be donated to local youth services (Boys and Girls Club, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, etc.) The RCVB is working closely with its sister club the Upper Keys Rotary Club (which produces the popular Gigantic Nautical Flea Market in Islamorada).

PATRICIA CORNWELL presents Red Mist: A Scarpetta Novel Thursday, December 15th at 6 p.m. Determined to find out what happened to her former deputy chief, Jack Fielding, murdered six months earlier, Kay Scarpetta travels to the Georgia Prison for Women, where an inmate has information not only on Fielding, but also on a string of grisly killings. The murder of an Atlanta family years ago, a young woman on death row, and the inexplicable deaths of homeless people as far away as California seem unrelated. But Scarpetta discovers connections that compel her to conclude that what she thought ended with Fielding's death and an attempt on her own life is only the beginning of something far more destructive: a terrifying terrain of conspiracy and potential terrorism on an international scale. And she is the only one who can stop it.

History of Vero Beach & Indian River County, Florida It was on a hot afternoon in Tallahassee in late May of 1925 that Representative Anthony W. Young -- later to become State Senator -- waited for the outcome of a vote from the Florida Senate. His bill, which would finally remove Vero Beach from the politics of Fort Pierce by creating the new county of Indian River, had initiated one of the most bitter fights ever waged in the Senate. Widely separated by political and cultural ideologies, the citizens of Vero Beach had for years resented the control that Ft. Pierce politicians exerted over their community. Prior to the vote, delegations – both for and against -flowed in and out of Tallahassee. But on that day in late May, Young’s bill passed by a vote of 23 to 9.

Silent night, holy night All is calm, all is bright Round yon Virgin Mother and Child Holy Infant so tender and mild Sleep in heavenly peace Sleep in heavenly peace Silent night, holy night! Shepherds quake at the sight Glories stream from heaven afar Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia!
