Fall in Vero Fall has arrived in Vero Beach and we have shifted from shorts to pants. The temperatures have dropped to an average of 79 degrees and we are all getting ready for the Holidays. I know it’s not like being up north where we would see leaves changing colors and would have already pulled out our winter jackets but for Vero it is a nice change in our beautiful town and we relish the season. Included in my newsletter this month are activities going on in Vero that help usher in the change of Seasons. I hope you enjoy what you find inside. On the Real Estate front we have had a very successful ―Summer Season‖. The 3rd Quarter sales numbers are second only to the sales that take place in ―Season‖. We have seen a consistent increase in units sold since the bottom of our market back in the summer of 2008. Let me make your real estate dreams a reality.

Having lived for some years in Munich, from time to time I get a hankering for German food. While there is no place to totally satisfy that craving in Vero (the Melody Inn is an excellent choice, but it’s Swiss), I discovered a few years ago that you can get an authentic German food fix by driving north on Vero’s barrier island to Café Coconut Cove in Melbourne Beach. The name of this restaurant offers no hint that the cuisine inside is prepared by a restaurant family that came here two decades ago from Aachen. But in this attractive hideaway on the Indian River lagoon, the décor and ambience is unmistakably Rhineland, and the menu is definitely Deutsche. But I should note that the restaurant is a bit hard to find. It’s easy to miss the Café Coconut Cove sign. Your best bet is to note the mileage as you cross the A1A bridge over the Sebastian inlet. When you have gone 11 miles from the top of the bridge, you are about there. Full Review: The Vero Beach dining Guide

In the 1500's, 1600's, and 1700's Spain dug vast quantities of silver, and smaller amounts of gold out of the mountains of Mexico and South America. Smelted into ingots and coins, the silver and gold crossed the Atlantic in wooden sailing vessels. Every summer, Spanish ships carrying a year's worth of diggings from throughout the New World met in Cuba. They also bore Oriental rarities that had been shipped across the Pacific to Mexico. From Cuba, the fleet made a perilous journey northwest along Florida's east coast, on the way back to Europe. Spain used warships and forts to protect the treasure ships from pirates. But she could not protect them from hurricanes. Not until 1928 was a wreck from the 1715 fleet rediscovered, the Urca de Lima off Fort Pierce. The next clues appeared on the land, not in the water. In the early 1940's, Spanish colonial artifacts were uncovered at a site south of Sebastian Inlet. In the mid 1950's, a hurricane completely changed the face of the shore. Kip Wagner discovered a second archaeological spot, located where the McLarty Treasure Museum now stands, It was the site of the Spanish sailors' encampment, indicating that treasure ships had gone down nearby.

Since the last newsletter I have been able to assist two families close on homes in Vero Beach, have one family waiting to close and have placed another listing under contract. As much as I love assisting buyers, procuring listings is a very important part of a successful agent’s business. As this year nears an end and next ―Season‖ is right around the corner, it is very important that I build up my stable of listings. If you are thinking of selling or know someone who is, please let them know that I am here to help guide them through the sales process. You already know my commitment to my clients and you also know that I am a full time Realtor dedicating all of my time to selling properties. I appreciate your support. Sincerely, Tripp Hernandez Dale Sorensen Real Estate Certified Residential Specialist Accredited Buyers Representative 772-539-1980
