Summer Newsletter
Summer is upon us. It is 85 degrees in Vero Beach as I type this on July 9th. Summer is such a great time to be in Vero Beach. The consistent SE breeze blows in to keep you cool enough for outdoor activities and yet warm enough to let you know we are in Florida. Not to mention the crowds are down so lines at the grocery stores, restaurants and beach parking are almost non-existent. After watching the news / weather reports, I am sure many of you may be considering Florida for a summer home as well. Speaking of watching the news, you may feel that the real estate market is still suffering, but as they say “real estate is local” and our local real estate has been very active for the last 18 months. The words “highest and best” have been thrown around lately due to the number of bidding wars going on for the better homes in the area. Prices have not moved up but inventory has declined to a point where finding a home that meets your needs can be hard to come by. Please let me know if I can assist you in any way. Currently Tripp has sold 14 properties in 2012 and has 1 under contract .

Recent Restaurant Review MT Chophouse is out of this world; definitely one of the best meals I have ever had in my entire life. I had the petite filet, cooked to a perfect medium. The bĂŠarnaise sauce was as good as I've had in France, and the sides were heavenly. The macaroni and cheese is particularly amazing. You can taste the richness in the truffle oil with every bite. MAGNIFIQUE!The bread was freshly baked, and came to our table steaming hot. To top it off, we ordered the escargot for an appetizer, and per the server's suggestion, we dipped the bread into the leftover garlicky sauce. I am getting chills just thinking about it! The wine selection as well was excellent. Finally, we ordered the chocolate mousse for dessert, and while we were all stuffed to the brim, we couldn't stop eating it. For those of you that love QUALITY food, this is the place to go. The steakhouse chains simply cannot offer this level of quality with every bite. I will definitely be going back! Source: yelp

History of Vero Beach & Indian River County, Florida Between the Wars -- The Twenties Post World War I Vero began to experience incredible growth. While the railroad continued to expand its operations, the emergence of the automobile had even greater impact. Highways were created linking cities, and even the most remote regions of the state were now accessible enabling people to move about as never before. Bridges spanning the Indian River gave rise to new residential and commercial development on the barrier islands. In the early 1920s, the Riomar Country Club was built on the barrier island by some Ohio residents who had discovered Vero's natural beauty. Elegant vacation homes surrounding the country club established the area as a premier winter vacation resort. Hotels were constructed, golf courses opened, and clubs and attractions were developed to entertain the winter visitors. The Vero Beach Yacht Club was incorporated in 1926. The famous McKee Jungle Gardens was organized in 1925 and formally opened in 1931.

The Vero Beach Book Center gets all kinds of positive reviews, on all the websites. What I like, that they have done recently, is updated their website so that all their upcoming events are easy to see. This store gets so may authors to come and speak that it is very nice to be able to plan accordingly. While there, make sure to check out their Children's Bookstore next door. Fun for the entire family plus, upstairs is their bargain store so log in, see what’s going on, and go enjoy. http://theverobeachbookcenter.com
On the Home Front It has been a great summer already. Our entire family gets together in Captiva each summer to spend quality time together in a beautiful setting. Captiva is a place where people in Vero can go to slow down. I’m not sure it can get much slower than Captiva, but for a week it is great. Then we were off to the Grove Park Inn in Asheville, N.C. for a close friend’s wedding. We took the opportunity to spend time in Savannah, Charleston and slowly made our way through the peach orchards, past the waterfalls and through the mountains to our final destination. Now we are busy with summer camp, Vacation Bible School, inlaw visits… Next, kindergarten. How time flies.
