Meet Jack Pavlas
from Flatonia, Texas
FLATONIA’S UTILITY DIRECTOR STANDS READY TO CONTINUE TO SERVE THE COMMUNITY THAT HE LOVES, ONE CUSTOMER AT A TIME
A man of few words but significant action, Jack Pavlas is doing his part to ensure that the City of Flatonia operates smoothly. As Utility Director for the City, Pavlas shared with me a little bit about his crucial role.
Before taking on the City one emergency at a time, Jack worked out of town doing air conditioning and electrical ... but when his wife received a promotion at her job, he began looking for something a little closer to home.
He heard that the City of Flatonia was hiring at the time and it seemed like the perfect opportunity for him.
That perfect opportunity turned into a career and in September, Pavlas will hit his 33rd year as Utility Director. When I asked what keeps him there, he simply said, “Habit.”
“I prefer to remain way in the back and try to go unnoticed,” he shared.
Flatonia, however, has taken notice. In fact, there is a popular saying around these parts: Oh, don’t worry about it! Just call Jack, he’ll fix it! “Yes, just call Jack, he’ll fix it!” Pavlas repeated with a smile.
