Q K
Tell us about yourself, what state you are from originally and what brought you to Colorado.
I am originally from Sidney, Nebraska born and raised. After graduating high school I moved to Chandler, Arizona and tried to pursue a career
in golf. I was working at a golf course, while working on my game to hopefully one day play on the LPGA. However, I was 18 paying rent and working a few jobs to survive, didn’t leave a lot of time for golf. I moved to CO to stay in the Golf industry. I love the people here
and the atmosphere. Everything that Colorado has to offer has always been a great fit for my personality!
Q K
When did you begin to have an interest in golf?
My father has golfed almost his entire life and my mother picked it up after they got married. They got me
started in it when I was 5. After watching me swing when I was little, they saw some natural ability and had me stick with it. I started to like it after sometime and I really started taking an interest in it when I was about 10.

I had to be. I am very blessed because I have my epilepsy under control with medication but so many don’t have this luxury. To answer your question, yes I am having a charity golf tournament to help raise money on August 5th at Bear Dance Golf Course. All the money raised will be donated to the Nicklaus Children’s Brain Institute. We are having some fun supporters come out (Brian Urlacher, Neil Smith, Joe Carter and Sterling Sharpe). I am very excited for the first annual Fly4aPurpose golf outing, space is limited and is open to the public so I would love and encourage as many people to sign up!

fell in love with the game of golf at the age of 9 in Brooklyn, NY. With hard work and determination, I earned a 4-year golf scholarship

“ A
I believe you can make your own luck and manifest your own destiny.” t two years old, I was handed my first golf club. It wasn’t until I was sixteen that I realized the opportunities available for
women in the golf community. I didn’t come from a country club family, but I did come from hardworking parents who believed in manifesting whatever life I desired. I am proud of where I came from and the hard work I put in to get this far. I am a Division III All-American athlete turned professional golfer. I have appeared on two Golf Channel television shows and I am a sponsored Nike athlete. I am proud to help grow the game for both men and women and create more opportunities for the next generation in golf. Because I feel blessed with the life I live, I try to use the small platform I have created to be a positive role model for young girls. This is why I actively promote and fundraise for Folds of Honor to give back to those who gave so much to us.”

he first time I swung a golf club I knew this sport was going to have me hooked! Honestly, I never thought in my wildest
dreams I would be a golfer. My focus from the time I could remember was singing and writing music, and I eventually moved to Nashville to live my dream as a country singer. Golf showed up for me at a time in my life when I felt my entire world crumble around me. My son, West, had just turned 3, I had been diagnosed with Lyme Disease, and found out my, now ex husband, was living a double life with many other women. Golf became my therapy! The golf course became my happy place where I was able to take an emotional vacation from all the drama. I was golfing 3-4x a week, and noticed I was really getting pretty good. My “therapy” was working for me. I was getting healthier and my confidence was being restored. Every free moment I had I was golfing. I was able to turn my newly found passion into a career after one of my INSTAGRAM pictures went viral. I’ve been blessed to have the opportunity to golf at some of the most beautiful golf courses around the world. From doing appearances at events, playing in celebrity tournaments for charity, and working for many top brands in the industry, in this short time, golf has been a platform for me to show women that you can do anything you set your mind to. I hope my story helps to inspire and empower! My goal is to teach my son that nothing is impossible!”

’m a small town girl who grew up in Muskegon, Michigan where I learned to play golf at the Muskegon Country Club. I prac-

It was so much fun growing up and having a twin brother to practice with all the time and travel to all the same tournaments together every summer.

turned professional after college and went to LPGA qualifying school in the summer of 2017 but decided a few months after
that I wanted to focus on my other passion, a career in sports broadcasting. I now plan to use my platform as a golf producer for the LPGA and analyst for PGA Tour Live to help grow the game, particularly women’s golf. I think there are so many benefits and opportunities within the game of golf that women can be taking advantage of and have a true passion for growing women’s golf and seeing more women play the game. A small group including myself at the LPGA recently created the #inviteHER initiative which is now worldwide to get more women into the game.

learned to play golf when I and my ex husband, Sandis Ozolinsh; who won the Stanley Cup in 1996 with the Colorado Avalanche, decided to
build our own Golf Club in Latvia. We called it Ozo Golf Club as OZO was the nickname given to him by his NHL teammates. The course is a 6400 meters 18 hole course and surprises everyone with its variety. Denver, Colorado based designer Rob Swedberg, was the Ozo Golf Club builder, He has managed to implement the accents of his native Rocky Mountains and has widely adapted the banks of the nearby Lake Kisezers, as well as formed 16 ponds and 50 sand bunkers into the course. You can view and read more about our awards and status on the website, www.ozogolf.lv . Please come visit my beautiful country Latvia, enjoy the Baltic Sea and play some golf at the Ozo Golf Club.

“Priority Time” Is the New “Family Time” By Jen Boyle
What are your priorities in life? Family? Work? Travel? Play? How do you manage your time? Do you ever feel like there is not enough time? I think we all do. Companies are successful because they have supporting roles for everyone. CEO, CFO, COO has an executive assistant, the assistant has a secretary or two, then those who are responsible for all the hard work and teamwork from the members that carry out tasks to marketing and promoting, to sales etc. So, why don’t we use the same equation of a successful business on the home front? Do we not see that time as being valuable? Do we not realize we probably spend at least five hours a week grocery shopping? What could you do with an extra five hours? What could you do if you hired a “Household” manager to take over the maintenance of owning a home, scheduling, upkeep, coordination of vendors, organizational projects, garage, closet, etc. A household manager could come in then set up the systems for your house and lifestyle to run smoothly. Everything has a date, a flow and a timeline. Would that excite you to have more time to join the softball league you wanted? Go on a vacation that you never allowed yourself time to engage in before, because you spent your time off doing your “to-do” list? Spend time with your family at dinner time, kids sporting events or school activities! Have a “date night” once a week and don’t cancel because you are too tired from doing the laundry and dishes! Life is meant to be lived! Your health, happiness and overall joy for the world is top priority. Let us show you how we can add value of “additional time” in your day for the things you really want.
Jen Boyle operates from a place where ‘YES’ is always the answer. Driven by her passion for helping others, she founded MORE Lifestyle Management in 2012, delivering high caliber personal assistance, household management, concierge and event planning service nationwide. Recognized for exceeding expectations and seamless customer service, Jen and her team provide clients both the time and freedom to enjoy the things they cherish most. more info:

Making Your Financial Future Bright By Chris and Marlow Felton Maybe you’re not where you want to be financially. The bills are piling up. The debt collectors are calling. You simply don’t have enough to get by. Financial troubles are some of the worst problems a couple can have because they take a toll on everything. GREAT WOLF LODGE ANNOUNCES FIRST-EVER SUMMER CELEBRATION “Summer Camp-In” Program Offers Families Howling Fun – Rain or Shine
by Trisha Ventker This past weekend, my family and I were invited to a sneak peak media event at the Great Wolf Lodge to unveil their Summer Camp In program. With the last couple of weeks of school upon us, after a long winter here in Colorado, that just doesn’t seem to want to end, this was the perfect weekend getaway for our middle schooler, especially when he found out that one of his best friends would be joining us. We left shortly after the boys got home from school on Friday afternoon and picked up my husband at his office in Centennial on the way. An accident, along with some rush hour traffic, made the typical 90-minute journey from Erie take an extra 30 minutes, but the anticipation of what was to come made the time fly by. My son’s friend had never been to the Great Wolf Lodge before and was anxious to hit the water slides after hearing about them from our son. At check in we were given our special Media Paw Passes and wristbands. As we entered our room, we found a wonderful “care package” in a small basket that looked like something you would prepare for going on a hike or a picnic in the great outdoors. It included a variety of snacks and candies, some of which were placed in mason jars. This was a great touch and set the tone for what was yet to come as part of the introduction to the Summer Camp In program. Before my husband was done unpacking our overnight bags, my son and his friend had already put on swim trunks and were ready to head to the water park. However, they were also quite hungry by now. So we headed down to the bar near the mini golf course for an evening welcome of hors d’oeuvre and drinks. The food, decorations, and
drinks were all complimentary to the summer camp theme. There were shrimp skewers, make your own baked potatoes served in their own individual small baking pans, bruschetta, cheeses, and charcuterie. There were also a couple of wonderful deserts, one was a strawberry shortcake and the other something that resembled a giant s’more. Both boys filled their bellies to their hearts content and then decided to explore some of the various games and activities, which kept them entertained until about 11pm. In the meantime, my husband and I enjoyed a couple of the special summer camp theme cocktails before heading back to the room. On Saturday morning, I attended a breakfast for the invited media to get a preview of what would be offered to those attending the Summer Camp In, included a room that was decorated in a camp style, complete with in room teepee. What a fun idea to have some rooms decked out in a camping theme! During this time my husband and the two boys enjoyed the Great Wolf Lodge’s breakfast buffet. My son and his friend then headed back to the waterpark to enjoy the wave pool and the various water slides. Shortly after noon, I had my husband search for the boys so that we could have lunch together. It took nearly 30 minutes to find them and only their desire for some pizza got my husband to pry them away from the waterslides. The four of us enjoyed some pizza and salad before the boys were off again for “Round Two” of the waterpark. We agreed to meet back at our room by 4pm so that we could all go down to the Family BBQ together that had been arranged as part of the media visit.
A few hours later, we headed downstairs from the main lobby and through the back doors to the outside for the family BBQ that had been set up outside. Calling this a mere family BBQ is a bit of an understatement. It was more like a “family BBQ Extravaganza, from the incredible variety and quality of food to the camp like decorations including a full tent, to the attention given to the smallest details, it definitely felt like we had been transported to some incredible outdoor summer camp.

The weather played along nicely as well. It was a wonderful, springtime, early evening in Colorado. When the sun was behind some clouds, there was just enough of a chill to warrant a sweatshirt or light jacket, but as soon as the sun came back out, a t-shirt was enough. After eating some incredible trout, potato salad, burgers, and apple cobbler for dessert, my husband decided to challenge the boys in a game of corn hole. As the sun began to set behind the majestic Rocky Mountains, it was time to get out the marshmallows and make s’mores. After enjoying another one of the summer camp themed “adult beverages” my husband and I headed up to the room to reflect on the days events, while our son and his friend decided to play Magiquest.
On Sunday morning, the media and their families were invited to a fantastic breakfast that included visits from several of the Great Wolf Lodge’s characters. Shortly after breakfast, my husband and I went back to the room, packed our belongings, and checked out. In the meantime, the two boys were back at the waterpark for “Round Three”. After a few hours of working on our laptops, while sitting in front of the massive fireplace in the great lobby, we decided to enjoy a quiet lunch at Barnwood and reflect on the memorable couple of days at the Great Wolf Lodge. The Summer Camp In program definitely pulls out all the stops and recaptures the joy of summer camp for families. I highly recommend this program. See below for more detailed information on this summer program. This year, Great Wolf Lodge is taking the time-honored summer tradition of camping and turning it outside-in with an all-new family escape called Summer CampIn. Families visiting during the summer celebration will be treated to several exclusive, limited-time offerings across the resort. And, much like the resort’s expansive indoor waterpark, the activities planned during Great Wolf Lodge’s Summer Camp-In are completely weatherproof. From Memorial Day weekend to Labor
Day weekend, all 16 U.S.-based Great Wolf Lodge resorts will celebrate the joys of camping with an array of special activities and events designed for families to participate in together. The summer fun will be nonstop with pool parties, character appearances, games, music, feasting on flame-grilled barbecue “camp cuisine” and more. When the sun goes down the fun turns up with campfire singalongs, summer camp Story Time, dance parties and more. From outdoor yoga to camp bingo, moving their feet in a conga line or a kick-off-your-sandals pool party, families will blaze trails to summer fun like never before. Here are a few highlights of summer fun at Great Wolf Lodge: Character Breakfast: A bugle heralds the arrival of Wiley the Wolf, Oliver Raccoon, Sammy the Squirrel and other characters as guests are treated to a morning breakfast buffet with some flagraising fun, tasty food and festivities. Every member will get involved during this rollicking breakfast with counselor-led songs, dances and napkin twirling. Wiley and friends will also circulate throughout the breakfast for photos and autographs. Pool Party: Nothing says summer like the water wonderland built for yearround fun at Great Wolf Resorts. Sun’s out, the party goes outside. Looking rainy, overcast or a little cool, the party comes inside. Either way, guests can jump in and have a splash-tastic time with games, DJ music and refreshments all poolside. Activities include “how low can you go” in the limbo, rubber duck races, corn hole toss and a conga dance to cap it all off. Trailblazer Challenge: Campers up for a challenge can sign up for select activities and earn a badge for every game they complete. Win bragging rights by participating in different arts and crafts projects such as friendship bracelet making and rubber ducky decorating, as well as interactive games like family trivia and corn hole challenges. When campers collect ten badges, they earn the ultimate honor – the title of Trailblazer.
BBQ: Got a hankerin’ for a camper feast served hot off the grill? Mouthwatering BBQ anchors dinner menus at the resort’s main restaurant. After all, no summer camp should be without BBQ and all the fixins’. Step right up, campers! S’mores: Families should make sure to leave s’more room for that savory staple of summer camp as a special s’mores dessert bar will be featured during the Summer Camp-In celebration, served up by Great Wolf Resorts’s very own culinary experts – s’moreliers. Campfire Ceremony: An active day calls for winding down with family around a crackling fire. From the ceremony of lighting the fireplace the nighttime fun begins. There’s singing, face painting, s’mores, silly story-swapping, character shows and the time-honored Great Wolf Lodge tradition, Story Time. Let your hair down groovin’ the night away at a rollicking, DJ-led dance party under the stars (indoor or outdoor). Linger longer for nighttime bowling or a hole in one mini golf challenge. The lodges themselves will be decked out for summer camp, from a “Welcome Campers!” banner at the porte-cochère to pennants hanging from lobby ceilings. The resort staff will don camp counselor gear and select guest rooms will have a camp theme with everything from pennant bunting and yellow gingham bed scarves to actual in-room tents and campfire lanterns. The camp-themed rooms are exclusively for the Summer CampIn celebration and will provide guests with a true feeling of being in the great outdoors. Summer Camp-In at Great Wolf Lodge also provides a true weatherproof summer getaway for families as events scheduled outdoors can easily be moved inside the indoor waterpark or the spacious Grand Lobby, ensuring the fun continues rain or shine. GRAND DAME OF DENVER The Brown Palace Hotel & Spa
B
by Tom Ventker
My wife, Trisha, and I moved to Erie, Colorado a little over 11 years ago. As we are a mere 25 minutes from downtown Denver, we frequently head there for some culture and culinary delights, along with an occasional weekend staycation at one of the hotels. One hotel that we had visited annually for our Anniversary Dinner, but never stayed at or explored beyond the Palace Arms restaurant is The Brown Palace Hotel & Spa. All that changed earlier this year. We were invited by The Brown Palace Hotel & Spa for a visit. They were incredibly helpful in organizing our visit and ensured our stay exceeded all expectations. Having studied Architecture and working for in the Architecture and Construction Industry for the past 30 years, I have always marveled at the architecture and beauty of the hotel but had never explored its rich history.
Let me begin by saying that it was a truly magical weekend and incredible experience that has me singing (well not literally) its praises and will have us coming back for future visits. We left our house in Erie, mid-morning on a chilly Saturday morning and headed down I-25 to Denver. Trisha and I were looking forward to a weekend in the city and some time to ourselves, as we dropped off our son at a friend’s house. As we made our way thru downtown Denver and turned onto Tremont Place from Broadway, the massive structure in the Richardsonian Romanesque style makes an immediate impression, with red granite and sandstone exterior setting it apart from the surrounding structures. The Brown Palace Hotel & Spa has been a stately Denver landmark for more than 125 years. The next thing that strikes you are the incredible uniforms worn by the valets and bellman at the entrance of the hotel. Their exquisite styling compliments the historical richness of the hotel and give you an indication of what you may find once you pass through the entrance. As you make your way to the reception, you are immediately struck by the magnificence of the stunning eight-story atrium with a stained-glass ceiling in Italian Renaissance style, which is at the heart of the hotel. As you look up, down, and around, it is almost architectural sensory overload, including the rare golden onyx from Mexico, which lines the interior. However, it all works incredibly well together. We quickly checked in and left our bags with the Bellman, as we had planned to attend the Saturday morning Historical Hotel Tour.
On this particular day, the “main guide” was out on vacation and we were led by Matt, one of the Bellman at the hotel. He stepped into the role and conducted the tour as if it was the only thing he did. Before setting off, he provided us a bit of a history lesson about the hotel’s founder and some incredible facts. The hotel was named for Henry Cordes Brown, the 19th of his father’s 20 children and a carpenter-turned-real-estate entrepreneur from Ohio. He arrived in the gold rush town of Denver in 1860 and purchased several acres of land. As property values skyrocketed, he built his fortune. People from all over the country were still flocking to the West, seeking their fortunes in gold and silver. Everyone stopped in Denver, either on their way to-or-from the mountains. Some settled; some moved on, but all needed a place to stay. Work on The Brown Palace officially began in 1888, and no expense was spared for the creation of Brown’s “Palace Hotel” on the unique triangular piece of land, and in fact, it was the first steel skeleton structure in Denver. In all, it took four years to build, was Denver’s tallest building at the time and cost a staggering $2 million. Matt was incredibly knowledgeable on every aspect about the hotel and extremely gracious in answering everyone’s question throughout the hourlong tour, no matter how strange they were. The culmination of the tour was visiting one of the Royal Suites located on the top two floors of the hotel, which are designed in Art Deco style. Matt told our group that we would typically tour the Reagan Suite, however, that was currently occupied (more on that in a minute), and we would see the Beatles Suite instead. This suite is where the Beatles stayed during their 1964 US Tour, while in Denver. Featuring a custom Beatles jukebox (playing all 225 of their songs), stylish entertainment center with a flat-screen HDTV, and framed records above a plush king bed, this Denver hotel suite is the ultimate destination for Beatles enthusiasts. As our tour concluded, we stopped back at the front desk and were told that our room was ready.
Matt, who had just conducted our Historical Hotel Tour, met us with our bags and took us up to our “room”. It wasn’t until we got off the elevator and began walking past the atrium that he voiced to us that now he knew why he couldn’t show the Reagan Suite earlier. At the end of the hall, he opened a door that led to a private corridor, where there was a door with a doorbell next to it. Yes, you read that right, a doorbell. At this point I began putting two and two together and realized that our room was more than just one of the hotel’s regular guest rooms, but rather the Reagan Suite. It is so large that it needs a doorbell, as you would not hear a knock at the door if you are in the back of the suite. When Ronald Reagan visited Denver in 1981, he stayed in this breathtaking suite. Stay here and you can pace the floor where he rehearsed an important speech. Recently remodeled like a 1950’s ranch to fit the President’s style, this sun-filled suite includes a private dining table for four, a sunfilled parlor complete with a full-size sofa, table and chairs and fireplace. It exudes spaciousness and sophistication with classic French doors separating the king bedroom. The bathroom is full of stunning amber marble featuring double sinks, a peaceful soaking tub and rain shower. You can work like a President at the executive desk and then sleep like one on a plush, elevated king bed. We quickly unpacked our overnight bag and headed down to the atrium for Afternoon Tea, a long-standing tradition at The Brown Palace Hotel & Spa for more than a century. Sitting in the in the warm light of the atrium lobby, listening to the soothing sounds of a pianist, whilst enjoying a hot pot of tea and lots of delectable was an experience I could get used to. Although I have been primarily a coffee drinker, I now have a newfound love for Tea, which is served from engraved silver teapots in specially commissioned Royal Doulton bone china. The tea is complemented with house-made scones that are served with Devonshire clotted cream shipped in from England, alongside savory tea sandwiches, and a decadent selection of classic and chocolate tea pastries. My favorite was the curried egg salad sandwiches.
B R O W N P A L A C E
With our brains and taste buds taken care of, it was time for my muscles to get that royal treatment as well, at the hotel’s 5,200 sq. ft. luxury spa. While I enjoyed an incredibly relaxing massage at the Spa, Trisha relaxed and enjoyed the beautiful suite. After my massage, I stayed for a bit in the men’s relaxation area to rehydrate with the lemon infused water and browsed through one of the coffee table magazines. Although the men’s locker room also has Swiss showers and steam rooms with aromatherapy, I didn’t have time during this visit as I wanted to enjoy the Reagan Suite as well, prior to heading down to Palace Arms for dinner. The spa also has a hair and nail salon, which Trisha didn’t have time to check out during this visit. Palace Arms is a truly a one-of-a-kind restaurant. We had been there for our anniversary dinner on multiple occasions and for an Adelphi University function last summer. However, after the Historical Hotel Tour, we had newfound appreciation for all the room’s decor. The main dining room is decorated with antiques dating to Napoleonic times. Among the flags, weapons, uniforms and ornaments, is a set of flintlock dueling pistols that belonged to Napoleon and his second wife, Louisa, and extremely rare gold-plated French eagles that were used in his celebrations. The service and culinary delights served
up by the chef live up to the expectations. Recipient of “Best of Award of Excellence” from Wine Spectator and consistently rated as one of the best downtown Denver fine dining experiences, Palace Arms can easily be considered the hotel’s crown jewel. After discussing our experience, reviewing our notes, and watching a little bit of TV, we enjoyed an extremely relaxing night’s sleep in the incredibly comfortable bed. The pillowtop mattress had us fully refreshed in the morning. Upon using the in-room amenities after showering, I had to inquire further about the “bee” products I found in the bathroom. While past guests have included royalty, it turns out that the hotel has its own resident queen, five of them actually. The property is the first hotel in Denver to nurture a colony of rooftop bees. Five hives, each with its own clever name, including “Buzzingham Palace,” are maintained by a dedicated Palace beekeeper. The honey is used in a line of sweet-smelling spa products and in-room amenities, as well as in afternoon tea, seasonal recipes and cocktails, and in a unique Brown Palace craft beer.
Trisha and I had never visited Ellyngton’s before were looking forward to sampling the Sunday Brunch. We had a table in one of the triangle’s corners which provided for a unique view outside. As with everywhere else in the hotel, the service was impeccable and we took our waiter’s suggestion and tried two of his favorites, French Toast and Eggs Benedict. Both were absolutely delicious. The renowned Dom Perignon Champagne Brunch features cooked- and carved-to-order items, a large salad and seafood presentation, chef-prepared desserts and three choices of champagne. Make sure that you leave room to enjoy some of their home-made macarons.

DINING Other dining options at The Brown Palace Hotel and Spa include Churchill Bar and Ship Tavern. A sophisticated retreat in a quiet club atmosphere, Churchill is a Brown Palace gem, offering an extensive list of vodkas, single-malt scotches, small-batch bourbons, and with a selection of over 60 cigars, the customized humidor has something for every palate. The artist should be attentively listening and taking notes of what you are saying about the feeling and look you would like to create in your space. Is your artwork designed to promote creativity, productivity and increased activity? Or is your proposed artwork supposed to elicit feelings of calm, tranquility and relaxation? Is the artwork for a child’s playroom? How can the artist convey the playful, carefree feelings of childhood that you would like to evoke?

Claude Monet: The Truth of Nature features about 120 works spanning the artist’s entire career
DENVER – The Denver Art Museum (DAM) will be home to the most comprehensive U.S. exhibition of Monet paintings in more than two decades when it presents Claude Monet: The Truth of Nature, in the fall of 2019. The exhibition will feature about 120 paintings spanning Monet’s entire career and will focus on the celebrated French impressionist artist’s enduring relationship with nature and his response to the varied and distinct places in which he worked. Co-organized by the DAM and the Museum Barberini in Potsdam, Germany, Denver will be the sole U.S. venue for this presentation from Oct. 21, 2019 through Feb. 2, 2020.
CLAUDE MONET: Boulevard des Capucines 1873-1874
CLAUDE MONET: Water Lilies and Japanese Bridge 1899
Monet traveled more extensively than any other impressionist artist in search of new motifs. His journeys to varied places including the rugged Normandy coast, the sunny Mediterranean, London, the Netherlands and Norway inspired artworks that will be featured in the presentation. The exhibition will uncover Monet’s continuous dialogue with nature and its places through a thematic and chronological arrangement, from the first examples of artworks still indebted to the landscape tradition to the revolutionary compositions and series of his late years.

A Taste of Colorado Originally named Festival of Mountain and Plain established in 1895 as a carnival similar to New Orleans’ Mardi Gras, the Festival was created to boost the city’s morale and vitality following the silver panic. The event, unsuccessful in ending Denver’s depression and declining in attendance, folded in 1902 when organizers were unable to obtain financial support. In 1983, the Downtown Denver Partnership decided to bring back the spirit of the original festival to commemorate the opening of the 16th Street Mall. The following year, A Taste of Colorado produced by the Downtown Denver Partnership was added to the Festival of Mountain and Plain name and concept and moved back to Civic Center Park in Downtown Denver, where the event first began. Mark your calendars for the 2019 A Taste of Colorado produced by the Downtown Denver Partnership over Labor Day weekend, August 31st, September 1st and 2nd. With a larger main stage, bigger national entertainment, VIP experience with private main stage viewing platforms and exclusive food and beverage offerings as well as an expanded Kids Zone, this years festival is a must see. The festival will continue its 36-year tradition of being the largest free admission food and music festival in Colorado attracting over 500,000 attendees over the three-day weekend. A Taste of Colorado has something for everyone with over 50 food vendors, 175 marketplace vendors, a Kids Zone experience with arts, crafts & a children’s entertainment stage and the elevated music experience with a larger main stage featuring over 25 national and regional musical acts. This free weekend event will satisfy your ears and taste buds with a lineup of fabulous live music and incredible selection of food. A Taste of Colorado was chosen by USA TODAY as the 4th Best General Food Festival in the Country in 2019.

RISE Collaborative Workspace RISE Collaborative Workspace, the established brand known for creating a community for professional women, now calls the prestigious Hilltop neighborhood near Cherry Creek its second home. As Denver has become the hub for some of the nation’s most prominent female-focused businesses, RISE Founder Stacy Taubman seized the opportunity to bring her luxury brand to this burgeoning market after identifying the large population of smart, strong, successful women looking for ways to connect and grow. As a former high school math teacher, Taubman was met by the tragic circumstance of a student ending her life in 2012. Determined not to let that tragedy be for naught, Taubman started a tutoring and coaching company for high school girls called Girls Dreaming Big; designed to help young women find and achieve their greatest potential. But she found the entrepreneurial journey discouraging. She floundered in the work-from-home environment due to the lack of synergy and creativity from peers. After talking with hundreds of other professional women, she learned she wasn’t alone - all the working women surveyed were craving community and connection. Thus, the concept of RISE Collaborative Workspace was born. Thus, the first RISE opened its doors in 2017 with a mission to help women succeed. The St. Louis location has 270 members and the same mission rings true for other professional women in Denver - helping them “RISE” to their potential. Newly opened in April, the co-working space unveiled its newest location on the corner of Colorado and 7thAve in a 10,000+ square foot space nestled above SnoozeEatery and US Bank. The second RISE Collaborative boasts a modern and clean interior design like its St. Louis sister, but feature 14 private offices; 10 dedicated desks; free parking; ample room and comfortable seating for working and coffee meetings; three conference rooms; one classroom; a social media room; two phone/Mother rooms; and an open coffee and snack bar. For more information, please visit RISEworkspace.com.

Denver Fashion Week Georgia Tournai
This spring season’s hair show and Denver Fashion Week did not disappoint. With an overall theme of “Neon Daze” inspired by the ‘80s the runway brought bold looks from hair artists and salons throughout Colorado. Among the talent on the runway was award winning hair artist, Georgia Tournai, with her collection of three models. She was inspired by the civil disobedience of the ‘80s and the riots as pertaining to the gay rights movement and the AIDS crisis. Two models sported mullets and another with a 6 foot long wig, all cut and colored to emulate exaggerated styles from GLBT culture in the 80s. Each model had phrases worn proudly on their chest as they strutted down the runway that were seen during the riots - “Find Your Anger”, “Where’s Your Power?”, and “Silence=Death”. To Georgia it was important to send a powerful message of resilience and hope, to transcend back in time to a place when our greatest hope was our greatest action, reminding the community today that we are strong... we are not alone.

Denver Pride Fest The 2019 Denver PrideFest will commemorate the 1969 riots at the historic Stonewall Inn in New York City, regarded by many as the beginning of the contemporary LGBTQ civil rights movement, with an exciting line-up of entertainers on all three stages June 15-16 at Civic Center Park. In the early hours of June 28, 1969, New York City police raided the Stonewall Inn, a gay club located in Greenwich Village in New York City. The raid sparked a riot among bar patrons and neighborhood residents as police roughly hauled employees and patrons out of the bar, leading to protests and violent clashes with law enforcement outside the bar on Christopher Street, in neighboring streets and in nearby Christopher Park. The Stonewall Riots served as a catalyst for the gay rights movement in the United States and around the world. One year after the Stonewall riots, the first Christopher Street Liberation Day march was organized on June 28, 1970 to promote LGBTQ civil rights. The celebration was so popular that similar events began popping up as gay pride events in cities across the country. LGBTQ pride events have now become an annual June tradition for many cities across the globe and have led to increased visibility and acceptance for LGBTQ people everywhere. The first gay pride celebration took place in Denver in June 1975. This community gathering brought increased energy to the Denver LGBTQ community and one year later, activists moved to form what would become The Center on Colfax. Denver PrideFest is a free two-day festival that features live entertainment on three stages. The annual event is produced by The Center on Colfax, one of the state’s oldest LGBTQ organizations. In addition to entertainment, the festival features more than 200 exhibitors, food and drink. The Center on Colfax is a non-profit organization that serves more than 52,000 people annually at its facility in Denver’s Capitol. The PRIDE 5K kicks off the weekend on Saturday June 15 with a run/walk from the State Capitol to Cheesman Park and back. The 5K includes prizes for individual runners and teams. The centerpiece of the weekend is the Coors Light Denver Pride Parade on Sunday morning June 16. Stepping off at 9:30 am and attracting 100,000+ spectators, the Coors Light Denver Pride Parade marches from Cheesman Park to the festival at Civic Center Park via Colfax Avenue.
