We in Rotary aspire to great deeds. We admire those who gave great gifts to humanity: Abraham Lincoln, who gave the gift of human dignity to the downtrodden; Mother Teresa, who gave the gift of compassion to the forgotten; Mahatma Gandhi, who gave the gift of peaceful change to the oppressed. Their very lives became gifts to the world. àÁ×èÍÊظÃÃÁà´Ô¹à¢ŒÒä»ã¹¾ÃÐÃÒªÇѧ à¢Ò¡çµŒÍ§µ×è¹µÒµ×è¹ã¨¡Ñº¡Òà µŒÍ¹ÃѺ·ÕèÂÔè§ãËÞ‹áÅÐʧ‹Ò§ÒÁ¢Í§¾ÃÐ਌ҡÄɳРˋ͢ŒÒǢͧ¢ÇÑޢͧà¢Ò ·ÕèàµÃÕÂÁÁÒÍ‹ҧ´Õ¹Ñé¹ ¡ÅѺ´ÙàËÁ×͹໚¹¢Í§·ÕèáÊ´§¶Ö§¤ÇÒÁÂÒ¡äÃŒ¢Í§à¢Ò ¾ÃÐ਌ҡÄɳÐࢌÒÁÒÊÇÁ¡Í´ÊظÃÃÁ«Öè§áͺ«‹Í¹Ë‹Í¢ŒÒǹÑé¹äÇŒ´ŒÒ¹ËÅѧ ¾ÃÐ਌ҡÄɳШ֧¶ÒÁÊظÃÃÁÇ‹Ò à¢Ò¶×ÍÍÐäÃÍÂÙ‹ ¾ÃÐ਌ҡÄɳÐÁÔä´Œ·Ã§´Ù¶Ù¡¢Í§¢ÇÑޢͧÊظÃÃÁ ᵋ·Ã§ÃѺˋ͢ŒÒÇ ÁÒàÊÇ´ŒÇ¤ÇÒÁ¢Íº¤Ø³ ·Ñé§Êͧ䴌ËÇÁÃѺ»ÃзҹÍÒËÒôŒÇ¡ѹáÅРʹ·¹Ò¡Ñ¹Í‹ҧʹءʹҹ ¡ÃзÑè§àÇÅÒ¼‹Ò¹ä»ËÅÒªÑèÇâÁ§ ¤ÇÒÁà¾ÅÔ´à¾ÅÔ¹ ¨Ò¡ÁÔµÃÀҾᵋÇÑÂàÂÒÇ ·ÓãËŒÊظÃÃÁÅ×Á¤Ô´¶Ö§Ê¶Ò¹¡Òó ·ÕèàÅÇÌҢͧµ¹ àÁ×èͶ֧àÇÅÒ¤èÓ ÊظÃÃÁ¨Ö§à´Ô¹·Ò§¡ÅѺºŒÒ¹áÅÐÁҹ֡䴌NjÒà¢ÒÅ×Á¤Ô´¶Ö§ÀÒáԨ ¢Í§à¢Ò ·Õ赌ͧà´Ô¹·Ò§¡ÅѺÁÒÁ×Íà»Å‹Ò áÅоÃÐ਌ҡÄɳÐä´ŒàÊÇ¢ŒÒÇ ·Õè໚¹ÍÒËÒÃÊÓËÃѺ¤Ãͺ¤ÃÑǢͧà¢ÒËÁ´ä»áÅŒÇ ÊظÃÃÁ¾ÂÒÂÒÁá¢ç§ã¨à´Ô¹·Ò§¡ÅѺ仺ŒÒ¹ËÒÅÙ¡ËÅÒ¹·Õè¡ÓÅѧËÔÇ ¢Í§à¢Ò àÁ×èÍà¢Ò件֧»ÃеٺŒÒ¹ã¹àÇÅÒã¡ÅŒÃØ‹§ à¢ÒµŒÍ§µ¡ã¨·ÕèàËç¹Ç‹ÒºŒÒ¹ ËÅÑ§à¡‹Ò ·Õèà¢Ò¨Ò¡ä»àÁ×èÍÇÒ¹¹Õé¡ÅÒÂ໚¹ºŒÒ¹ËÅѧãËÞ‹·ÕèÊǧÒÁ ·Ø¡¤¹ã¹ ¤Ãͺ¤ÃÑǢͧà¢Ò¡çÁÒÂ×¹Ã͵ŒÍ¹ÃѺà¢ÒÍÂً˹ŒÒºŒÒ¹ ·Ø¡¤¹áµ‹§¡ÒÂÊǧÒÁ áÅÐä´Œ·Ò¹ÍÒËÒèҡ¡ÃÐઌÒÍÒËÒ÷Õè¾ÃÐ਌ҡÄɳоÃÐÃÒª·Ò¹ãËŒ ¤Ãͺ¤ÃÑǢͧÊظÃÃÁ à¾×è͵ͺ᷹¢ŒÒÇ·Ø¡àÁç´·Õè¾ÃÐͧ¤ ä´ŒàÊÇÂä» ¾ÃÐ਌ҡÄɳзç·ÃÒº´ÕÇ‹ÒÊظÃÃÁä´Œ¹ÓÍÒËÒ÷Õèà¢ÒÁÕ·Ñé§ËÁ´ ÁÒãËŒ¾ÃÐͧ¤ à¾×èÍ໚¹¡Òõͺ᷹ ¾ÃÐͧ¤ ¨Ö§·Ã§¾ÃÐÃÒª·Ò¹·Ø¡ÊÔ觷Õè à¢ÒµŒÍ§¡Òà â´ÂÁÔä´ŒàËç¹Ç‹Ò໚¹¢Í§¢ÇÑÞ·ÕèÁդس¤‹Ò·Ò§Çѵ¶Ø ᵋÁդس¤‹Ò·Ò§ ¨Ôµã¨ ¢Í§¢ÇÑÞàÅç¡æ ·ÕèÊظÃÃÁÁͺãËŒ¾ÃÐ਌ҡÄɳР¾ÃÐͧ¤ ·Ã§¤×¹¡ÅѺ ໚¹¢Í§¢ÇÑÞ·ÕèÂÔè§ãËÞ‹ãËŒÊظÃÃÁ ઋ¹à´ÕÂǡѹ¡ÑºÊÔ觷ÕèàÃÒÁͺãËŒ âõÒÃÕ ¡ç¡ÅѺÁÒ໚¹¢Í§¢ÇÑÞÊÓËÃѺàÃÒ áÅÐàÃÒ·Ø¡¤¹ÁÕ·Ò§àÅ×Í¡Ç‹Ò¨Ðà¡çºäÇŒ ÊÓËÃѺµÑÇàÃÒàͧ ËÃ×ͨÐÁͺµ‹Íä»ãËŒ¼ÙŒÍ×è¹ à¾×èÍ໚¹¢Í§¢ÇÑÞá¡‹ªÒÇâÅ¡

We can be inspired by their example. We can be inspired to ask, how can I, in the life that I live – without neglecting the responsibilities that are so dear to me – how can I, too, become a gift to the world? As I considered my theme, I thought of the lessons I have learned through my Hindu faith. I thought especially of the story of Sudama. Sudama was a poor child and a bosom friend of Krishna, who was born in a royal lineage as an avatar – an incarnation of the divine. As the two boys grow up, they drift apart, and while Krishna becomes a military leader and king of great repute, Sudama remains a humble villager. The years go by and Sudama’s poverty deepens. Finally, he lacks even food to feed his children. His wife reminds him of his childhood friendship with Krishna: Perhaps it is time to go to the mighty ruler for help. Reluctantly, Sudama agrees, but resolves that he will not go empty-handed. He gathers together a few handfuls of rice – all the food his family has left – and wraps them in a piece of cloth as a gift for his friend. When Sudama enters the palace, he is overwhelmed by the grandeur and by Krishna’s gracious welcome. His meager gift, so carefully prepared, seems a humiliating reminder of his poverty. Krishna embraces Sudama, who hides the hand holding the rice behind his back. Krishna asks what he is holding.

Far from being disdainful, Krishna accepts the rice with gratitude and consumes it with joy as the two sit and talk together. Hours pass, during which the pleasures of their rekindled friendship push all thoughts of his desperate plight from Sudama’s mind. When evening falls, Sudama sets out for home – and only then realizes that he has neglected his task. He is returning with nothing, and Krishna has eaten his family’s last grains of rice. Sudama steels himself to return to his hungry children. But standing before his gate, as dawn begins to break, he sees that the hut he left yesterday has become a stately home, and waiting to greet him is his own family: well-dressed, and well-fed by the baskets of food that appeared in their kitchen as Krishna ate each grain of Sudama’s rice. Krishna understood what Sudama had brought him: everything he had to give. In return, Krishna gave him everything he needed. It is never the material value of a gift that matters – it is the love that comes with it. Just as Sudama’s gift to Krishna became a gift to Sudama, what we give through Rotary becomes a gift to us. And we all have a choice: whether to keep our gifts to ourselves or give them to others, and Be a Gift to the World. We have only one chance at our lives. And we will have only one chance at this new Rotary year. This is our time. Let us grasp it. Let us Be a Gift to the World.

K.R.RAVINDRAN President, Rotary International

On the occasion of the beginning of the District Governor’s duties on July 1, 2015 in this – the “Be a gift to the world” – year, I would like to extend my best wishes to all Club Presidents, the Assistant Governors, District Committees, and Fellow Rotarians. May we all work together with happiness, a spirit of fellowship and harmony as we carry out service projects for the less fortunate in line with the Rotary motto: “Service Above Self”. I could not agree more with R.I. President K.R. Ravi Ravindran’s statement to the effect that our time in this world is very limited. One lifetime can be divided into 4 stages: from birth to graduation, when one is building one’s business and family, when one’s work and family lives are well established, and the final stage of life. It is clear that we really have such a limited amount of time in our lives! Although we may live in a grand house, drive a luxury car, or enjoy high status in the society, if we have not done enough good, no one will praise us or pray for us when we die, and eventually we will be forgotten. R.I. President Ravi has asked us to utilize our abilities to create goodness through community service and to work for the improvement of society as a gift to the world. I would like to ask that all Club Presidents pay attention to My Rotary, Rotary Club Central, and Rotary Showcase -- all of which are new initiatives for us. And I would like to remind you that in order to be eligible for a Presidential Citation, each Rotary club must meet two mandatory requirements: 1. Set at least 15 goals in Rotary Club Central 2. Pay July R.I.’s semiannual dues on time. In this case, ‘on time’ means that payment must be made by October 28, 2015 (120 days). If the two mandatory requirements are not achieved, the Club will not be eligible to be awarded a Presidential Citation from the R.I. President. Other activities include:

1. Membership development and retention Clubs must achieve 3 of 4 goals. 2. Foundation giving Clubs must achieve 2 of 4 goals. 3. Online tool adoption Clubs must achieve 2 of 4 goals. 4. Humanitarian service Clubs must achieve 3 of 7 goals. 5. New generations Clubs must achieve 2 of 4 goals. 6. Public image Clubs must achieve 1 of 2 goals. You will see that meeting the eligibility requirements for a Presidential Citation from the R.I.President can be challenging for those of us who are not skilled in IT. However, I do believe that with your commitment and dedication, we all can overcome this hurdle. As for the requirements for a Governor’s Salute, the goals will not be too hard or too high, and will only require that you are sincerely and wholeheartedly committed to your work. I will inform you of the goals at a later date. Finally, I would like to assure all Club Presidents, Assistant Governors, District Committees, and Fellow Rotarians that I will stand by your side throughout the 366 days of the year. We will join hands and join forces in taking District 3350 towards a better and brighter future, so let me invite you all again to ‘Be a gift to the world’. (Chaivai Poonlapmongkol) District Governor 3350, R.I. 2015-2016

Dear Rotarians, Over the past years there have been many new clubs, yet as many have been closed down. One of the reasons why those clubs could not prosper is because there were no charitable projects in their communities. Rotary clubs are significant humanitarian organizations in the communities, it is imperative that their community service projects are visible in the local communities as this will help strengthen their position in the local communities. To this end, the District Rotary Foundation has compiled a list of core Global Grant projects hosted by RC. Bangna, RC. Bangkok Klongtoey, RC. Yannawa, RC. Charoen Nakhon, RC. Pranakorn, and RC. Patumwan. Other clubs are also currently in the process of preparation for the launch of their projects. These projects will allow all Rotary Clubs to put their DDF into the core Global Grant projects and receive something back to their local communities. The District Rotary Foundation will encourage small clubs to participate in Global Grant projects so that they can bring the items from the projects back to their local communities. The District will keep all Club Presidents attending the Rotary Foundation Grant Management Seminar on July 11, 2015 informed of all the details. This strategy will ensure small clubs that their DDF will yield benefits to their local community. This is a stepping stone towards their becoming strong clubs. This year will be the first time for “Global Grant—Collaborate and Spread our Strengths”, and I hope that this will be a start of a strong and sustainable growth for all Rotary Clubs in District 3350. Yours in Rotary, (PP.Prasart Kiatpaibulkit) DRFC 3350, 2015-2018

Members are the most important in any organization, either profit or non-profit organization. Strong membership enables your club to do good in your local community and around the world. A strong membership also create the public’s awareness of Rotary and increases support to The Rotary Foundation and its programs. Building membership is a top priority throughout Rotary, from the RI Board to the individual Clubs Board. Membership Development is not just only increasing members within the clubs and / or district. STRENGTHENING ROTARY'S IMAGE THROUGH WORDS How will you answer the question: What is Rotary?

For years, we described Rotary by the numbers: 1,220,115 members in 34,558 clubs in 200 countries and regions. Impressive figures, for sure, but they only tell part of our story. What numbers can't convey is the essence of Rotary –- what sets us apart and inspires people to get involved. So we interviewed members around the world to discover why they're passionate about Rotary. What we found was a new way of talking about Rotary that focuses on three core ideas. Through Rotary, you can: • Join leaders from all continents, cultures, and occupations • Exchange ideas, bringing our expertise and diverse perspectives to help solve some of the world's toughest problems • Take action to bring lasting change to communities around the world It's not a new story but it is a new way of telling our story, one that conveys the top two reasons people join Rotary: for friendship and to make a difference in their communities. When you share your passion for Rotary, you have the power to change a stranger into a volunteer, a colleague into a donor, and a family member into a Rotarian. So the next time someone asks you, What is Rotary? you have a clear and compelling answer: "Through Rotary, I have a friend, partner, and adviser in communities around the world who are helping me make a difference." The District 3350 PR Committee will be more than willing to provide assistance and guidelines for club who seek effective PR tools and materials which will be in accordance with Rotary International recommendation. Please contact us for further assistance. We are also giving advice on My Rotary. E-Mail: pr3350@gmail.com Website: www.rotary3350.org

PP. Dr. Salakjit Nopakun (Chair) In 2015-16 Rotarians will demonstrate how to “Be a Gift to the World” by acting as a good example to our younger generation through 5 Rotary youth services namely RYLA, EarlyAct, Interact, Rotaract and YE. By involving themselves in any of these services, Rotarians can give good advice and set good examples for youth to follow in their directions, and when they grow up to become leaders of our society, they will in turn be the good examples for the next generations to come. 1. Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) Subcommittee – AG.Patsri Suwimol (RC Sathorn) Chair Every year, thousands of young adults will be selected to attend leadership trainings or seminars that are sponsored and organized by Rotary around the world. In such an unofficial atmosphere, outstanding talented young adults aged 14 – 30 will be spending time together for a number of days to participate in challenging activities to be trained with leadership characteristics. This involves inspiring debates and speeches, and social activities that are arranged with the objectives of enhancing personal development, leadership skills, and good citizenship.

from sponsoring Rotary clubs, and must plan annual service projects that will be beneficial to their schools, communities and the world. Interactors will develop their leadership skills and gain experiences from doing service projects, which leads to the satisfaction in helping others. The core objectives of Interact are for young adults to be allowed to express their creativity in creating understanding and goodwill with youth worldwide.

2. EarlyAct Subcommittee – AG.Jongkoldee Pongsri (RC Buengkum) Chair EarlyAct is a club for children aged 6 – 13. EarlyAct allows children to care about each other, learn about respect, and understand others’ feelings, responsible for oneself and one’s duties, have leadership skills, learn to tolerate and accept others’ opinions, good citizenships, sympathy and friendship.

From the success of Interact clubs in the early 1960, RI Board of Directors began establishing Rotaract in 1968. This new program was created to enhance good citizenship with responsibilities and leadership for young men and women aged 18 – 30.

3. Interact Subcommittee – AG.Boonlert Kerdsomkiat (RC Bangkok Rattanakosin) Chair Interact is a Rotary sponsored service club for older children and young adults, which was approved at RI Board of Directors meeting in May – June 1962. Interact clubs provide the opportunity for younger generation in High School to join hands in servicing others to create international friendship and understanding. The word “Interact” here derives from the combination of 2 words: “Inter” which refers to International and “Act” which refers to Action. All Interact clubs must be sponsored and receive guidance

4. Rotaract Subcommittee – PP. Santi Chatterjee (RC Bangkok) Chair

5. Youth Exchange Subcommittee – PP.Napaskamon Promopakorn (RC Bangkok Pattanakarn) Chair Youth Exchange is one of popular programs of Rotary in encouraging international understanding and developing permanent friendships. The values of Youth Exchange program do not only happen to High School students, but also to host families, supporting Rotary clubs, the schools that exchange students attended and the entire communities. Participating in Youth Exchange program will be beneficial to local students in host schools to learn about culture, languages, customs and lifestyles of other countries.

Fellow Rotarians: This new Rotary year, I was assigned by DG. Chaivai Poonlarpmongkol to look after District Internatonal Service Committee. Due to my past relationship with different Districts in several countries during my 3-year assignment as District Rotary Foundation Chair, he wants me to strengthen those relationships which are still very important and are in need for our Global Grant Projects as Internatinal Host Partners. I, myself, alone cannot complete the assignment. Therefore, I have invited our Fellow Rotarians who have long experiences and network with several Clubs in oversea to pack up the team. The first person is AG. Somboon Boonyasiri from Rotary Club of Bangkok Klongtoey, who will be Chairperson of World Community Service Sub-Committee (WCS). Even Rotary International has already removed WCS from the list, but due to prompt and simple way of doing a project, a lot of clubs still maintained this service. AG. Somboon has a tremendous network of clubs in Japan, any club which need the International Host Partner, please contact him.

The second person is PP. Jay Chung from Rotary Club of Pranakorn. He will be Chairperson of Rotary Friendship Sub-Committee. Any Rotarian who has problem in dealing with Rotarian from Korean Club, please ask for his assistance. His assisgnment does not limit only on Rotary Friendship, he also as an assistance who is very fluent in Thai and can help you in anything about Korea. Her name is Khun Darin, PP. Jay’s Rotary Ann. The third well known person from Rotary Club of Bueng Khum is PP. Jun Nakamura, a Japanese Rotarian. He will be Chairperson of Rotary Fellowships Sub-Committee. You don’t need a translator, because he is very fluent in Thai. Don’t speak English with him. He has a lot of friends who are Rotarians in Japan. So, please let him give you his service if you are in need. In this issue, I just would like to introduce our District International Service Committee first. There will be a lot of International information which I will share with everybody in the following issues.

Dear Fellow Rotarians, I was assigned by DG.Chaivai Poonlapmongkol to be District Governor’s Monthly Newsletter Chair for the year 2015-2016. This is my third time to be in charge of this honorable position. The main purpose of District Governor’s Newsletter is to be the communication channel among R.I. President, District Governor, District Committees, Assistant Governors, Presidents, and all Rotarians, at least once a month. Besides the print version, you can also read the e-newsletter from District 3350’s E-News, in which you may read the current as well as back issues. The newsletter mainly consists of the information that District Governor and District Committees would like to publicize. Most of the news will be in both Thai and English because currently District 3350 covers the Rotary Clubs in Cambodia and Myanmar as well. Many clubs in Thailand also communicate in English. Using English is also in accordance with the national policy to welcome AEC. Presidents or Rotarians who would like to send in pictures or articles to publicize your club, please send them to trongs3350@gmail.com In cases where the issues are urgent or if they include a lot of details, I will coordinate with District Public Relation Committee to have them publicized through e-news.
