Experiences in London Eating out Acorn House -by

Lauren Fraser
Acorn House is well known for being the very first restaurant to be eco-friendly and in my opinion is the best restaurant you’ll find in King’s Cross. The menu is seasonal, the food is very weel-cooked and is of a very high standard. If you stick to water, you can enjoy a 3 course meal for around £20
E Pellicci - Family run East End cafe
-by
332 Bethnal Green Road
Alan Young
Still owned and operated by the Pellicci family, this East End cafe is well known for its toasts, delicious sandwiches and tasty lasagne. They will find room for you, even it’s packed and tiny and everyone will treat you kindly. Worth a visit!
Delicious fish and chips
-by
73 Marylebone Lane
Oscar Cervantes
The Golden Hind is a is a very small, intimate family run business well known for their tasty fish&chips. Been here at least half a dozen times with friends and family visiting me and all of them loved the food. The cod and the haddock are crispy, tender, juicy, and tasty. Be sure to try the mushy peas! They also allow bringing your own bottle of wine!
Maggie Jone’s Restaurant -by
Lauren Fraser
6 Old Court Place
Maggie Jone’s is an intimate and superb restaurant in Kensington. You’ll get the most hearty, delicious, traditional British food you can imagine – Kedgeree, cauliflower cheese, mashed potato, pies, homemade soups… They also serve a great house wine and they charge you by the inch.

Experiences in SaninSebastián Experiences London Drinking with buddies The George Inn -by
Thomas A.
77 Borough High Street
Full experience in: www.trourist.com
One of my favorite pubs to hang out at when south of the river, the George really captures what a great London pub was supposed to be. Perfect for summer nights to sit outside (they do have heaters). Assuming you aren’t closing the place down, it’s a must-see. It’s one of those places that reminds me why I love living in London.
The Volunteer -by
247 Baker Street
Jessica Buerger
The Regent’s Park is one of London’s best green areas. After tanning on the grass or rowing on the lake, one of my favourite places to head to is The Volunteer. On a sunny Saturday or Sunday, they may fire up their BBQ and delight you with steaks, sausages and burgers! Stay late on Friday or Saturday and dance the night away as a DJ takes over.
Flat white: Best coffee in town
-by
17 Berwick Street
Adam Smith
Cute café in the heart of Soho with the best coffee in London. The staff, all from New Zealand are really friendly and always fun to chat with. Pop in if you are in the area!
Bar Vynil -by
6 Inverness Street
Jessica Buerger
Bar Vinyl is a really funky cocktail / DJ bar in Camden. It’s colourful and really interesting. A great option for a cool night out. They serve awesome cocktails here, although my favourite one is “Pimp Daddy”. Delightful.

Experiences in London Live Music + Clubbing Madame JoJo’s Friday nights -by
8-10 Brewer Street
Amber Walls
The vibe in here is terrific and everyone seems ready for a good old dancing session. Every friday night well known djs play 60s & 70s funk/soul music. Be prepared for a really fun night out, with great music.
The Crypt -by
Adam Smith
81 Camberwell Church Street
The Crypt might not be as famous as other jazz bars in London, but it’s probably the best place to enjoy jazz music in the city. Every Friday night jazz bands from all over the world play live in the crypt. There is no metro station around, but the place is worth a visit.
Fabric Nightclub -by
77A Charterhouse Street
Zoe Brightman
Really marvelous nightclub with great decor (the modern metallic unisex toilets are weird but surprising). House music and DJs selected by people who know the scene well. Friday nights are accessible and popular, and Saturday nights are great for more hardcore ravers. Always worth the entry, although arrive a little earlier to avoid queues.
Electrowerkz -by Zoe
Brightman
7 Torrens street
Club. Events. Concerts. This gritty warehouse that was turned into a club, is frequented by people who are there for a good old rave to enjoy themselves. The music is amazing, always really great tunes playing that you won’t hear in many other places.

Experiences in London Visiting a cultural site Design Museum -by
Shad Thames
Full experience in: www.trourist.com
Julie Thompson
This museum is not as famous as Tate but it’s definitely worth going if you’re into design things. The exhibitions change quite often so having a look to their site is recommendable. Apart from exhibitions, the museum often holds seminars, talks and screenings.
Stolen Space - Street and modern art -by
91 Brick Lane
Heather Cross
This great street and modern art gallery is located in the Old Truman Brewery, Brick Lane. Both, established artists and young talents show their work at Stolen Space. Exhibits change regularly and entrance is totally free.
Saatchi Gallery -by
King’s Road
Heather Cross
It’s my favorite contemporary art gallery in London. The art on display is often provoking and the exhibitions are really interesting. I’d recommend to buy the picture by picture guide, it only costs £1.50 and it’s not a big deal since the entrance to the gallery is free.

Experiences in London City Hoping Neal’s Yard -by
Full experience in: www.trourist.com

Neal’s Yard is one of London’s best kept secrets. Alternative product stores and open air cafes make this hidden square a good place to chill out. Try the yogourt icecream from the bakery, it’s delicious.
Shoreditch neighbourhood -by
Claire Dixon
Shoreditch is definitely one of the trendiest neighbourhoods in London. It’s home of creative types and artists and plenty of trendy bars, clubs and galleries have opened in the last few years. The Foundry is one of my favourite bars in the area, it reminds me of East Berlin.
Summer nights by the marina -by
Saint Katharine’s Way
Eleanor Jones
If you just want to escape from the city for a bit you should come to St. Katherine’s Dock. It’s a really quite and peaceful place, specially at summer nights when when people are hanging around on their boats. There are cute little bars and restaurants in the area too.
Primrose Hill -by Adam
Smith
Primrose Hill Road
Primrose Hill is a great place for a picnic with friends or just escape the city and read the papers. I love to come there and watch the sun go down.

London’s gourmet market is a paradise for food lovers. Buy fresh produce to take home (fruit and vegetables, cheese, cake etc.) or pick up lunch from one of the take-away stalls. With a wide variety of sweet and savoury foods from around the world, it’s a great place to spend an hour or two. Try the brownies from Flour Power Bakery. On Thurs, Fri and Sat.
Hunting for vintage at Portobello Market
-by
Kate Turner
Portibello Road
In the heart of Notting Hill, London’s Portobello Market is a fun place to spend a Saturday morning browsing stalls laden with vintage clothes, antiques, other secondhand goods and food. Because of the market’s popularity, you might not be able to find a genuine bargain, but you can always console yourself with a treat from the nearby Hummingbird Bakery.

No doubt, Stanfords is one of my favourite stores in the world . For passionate travellers like me, this is paradise: three floors dedicated to literature and maps on every part of the world. Don’t hurry up, and you’ll discover an astonishing stock of travel-related paperbacks and photography books.

Tips by a local trourist
Kate Turner
trourist and blogger at: www.talesofabritabroad.blogspot.com/
Cutting-edge but classic, brash with plenty of British reserve: London is a mass of contradictions. England’s capital is a thriving metropolis, its ‘What’s On’ columns always packed with myriad events, from art exhibitions to secret suppers at underground restaurants. However, the variety of sights and sounds on offer can no doubt seem a little overwhelming to the firsttime visitor: with so much to see and do, where is the best place to start? A traditional itinerary might include the Tower of London, scene of famous executions and home to the crown jewels, a photo stop by the iconic Big Ben, a weather-dependent picnic in one of London’s many parks and a visit to the National Gallery. Fortunately many of London’s museums are free, helping to ease the impact that transport and accommodation can have on travellers’ wallets. Other key attractions include the Natural History Museum, the London Eye and Buckingham Palace, to name but a few: the truth is that London has enough sights to keep visitors occupied for weeks. If touring monuments and museums isn’t your thing, London has plenty more to offer. Shoppers will delight in the high-street heaven of Oxford Street, the quirky boutiques of Camden and its markets and the vintage finds of Portobello Market. Food fiends will adore the gastronomic paradise that is Borough Market, the food hall at Harrods and London’s thriving restaurant scene, where just about every type of cuisine from all over the world is available. Anything is possible in London. It might be a massive metropolis that’s occasionally difficult to navigate, but persevere and no matter what your interests, you’ll enjoy getting under the skin of England’s capital city.
