Metallic Eucalyptus Stems Real Eucalyptus stems are pressed and dried to create the unique specimens used in these pieces. After the stems are dried, they are pruned back to a manageable shape and then transformed into stunning metallic sprigs. The stems are given a brush of lemon shellac to add just a hint of warmth to the silver tones. After which, each piece is then hand sewn to a linen canvas in a pleasing arrangement.

The shapes appear like individual forms, oval and solid, however on closer inspection we can see the fragmented and rougher sections within the anatomy. Charlotte Morgan Silver Leaf Neutrals

In a combination of techniques, this series of images uses textures and pastel colours to enhance simple design. A textured layer is printed on to the coloured background using a template that runs through a press. A series of rectangular shapes are then applied in silver leaf over the textures to finish the piece. The differing materials offer a stark contrast between soft and hard areas of design. The use of simple pastel colour allows the silver leaf to remain a bold feature of the artwork.

La Bastide, France CWST117 - In this image we are transported to a quaint French Bastide town. Exuding rich European history, the scene that is cast is of a sophisticated boulevard lined with tall trees. Colonial Pelican Triple The wonderful bold triple of Colonial Pelicans by bird photographer Arthur Morris have such a great character about them. Not the most beautiful of birds however their gaze captures your eye and the quirky features come to light. Their strong long beak used to scoop up fish looks almost wooden in comparison to the stretchy red and green pouch which expands to an enourmous size. The bird’s dark, thick feathers are a stark contrast to the blonde fuzzy comical head of hair they have, all topped off with the striking pretty pale blue eyes. Henry Stacy Marks Exotic Birds

Henry Stacy Marks was born in 1829 to a family of London coach makers, but after showing little interest in the family business he delved into a career as an artist and student at the Royal Academy of Arts. Marks had been drawn towards painting birds ever since his participation in an exhibition called Birds in Bond Street for London Zoo, which was a great success. He developed a style that could be best described as Pre-Raphaelite, being attracted to the painstaking naturalist painting he was later famous for. John Gould | Pheasants These wonderful pheasants are full of colour and grace as they pick delicately through the undergrowth. The bright colours of their plumage as well as their plump shape are a wonderfully traditional sight. John Gould was an English ornithologist and bird artist. He published a number of monographs on birds, illustrated by plates that he produced with the assistance of his wife, Elizabeth Gould and several other artists. Charlotte Morgan Lobsters

Gyotaku is an ancient Japanese art form which grew from the need for fishermen to prove the size of their largest catch in a world before photography. Gyo meaning fish, and Taku meaning rubbing or impression is pronounced GEE-OH-TAH-KOO. This very basic printing technique developed over 200 years ago has changed very little over time and is surprisingly simple. Gyotaku involves making a ‘rubbing’ of the animal by carefully preparing it and then applying ink or paint. A soft, flexible paper or cloth is then used to cover the marine life, making contact in all relief areas. These direct prints offer a painterly approach to the realism of form, with an exact replication of the specimen. Charlotte Morgan has taken the majestic king of the crustaceans, the lobster, as her inspiration. Nina Campbell | The Keightley Collection Designer Nina Campbell came across these charming pen and ink and watercolour views when she was tidying up her father’s things. They are by her great great uncle, Lieutenant Robert Hely-Hutchinson Keightley who was an officer in the British army. During the dull evenings in camp he wrote a diary and worked on his sketches and paintings of scenes that surrounded him. Working with TROWBRIDGE Nina has created two stunning collections in colour and in sepia using these wonderfully evocative images.
