INTRODUCTION

The Troy Athletics Communications Office appreciates your interest in Troy Trojans basketball and looks forward to assisting you during the 2021-22 season. Our offices are located in the Tine Davis Field House next to Veterans Memorial Stadium. To assist in your coverage, please take time to read the information found on this page. These policies have been established in consideration of the media’s needs, as well as those of Troy’s student-athletes and coaches to create a positive work environment for all concerned. If additional information or assistance is required, please contact Troy women’s basketball contact Hanna Cooper or any other member of the Troy Athletics Communications staff. We appreciate your coverage of Troy basketball and look forward to working with you this season.

MEDIA CREDENTIALS

All requests for working media, radio, television or photo credentials should be made in writing by sports editors or sports directors of accredited media outlets to women’s basketball contact Hanna Cooper. All requests should be made as early as possible and should be limited to working media only. Requests made within 24 hours of the game may not be considered. All credential requests should be sent via e-mail to Hanna Cooper, Troy women’s basketball contact, at shipp@troy.edu. Credentials can be picked up prior to game day in the Athletics Communications Offices, and will be available for day-of-game pickup at the will call window at the main entrance to Trojan Arena.

UNAUTHORIZED CREDENTIALS USE

Credentials will be issued to working media only. Media credentials are not transferable and use by anyone other than members of the working media is unauthorized. Media credentials used in an unauthorized manner will be revoked immediately. News organizations allowing unauthorized individuals to use credentials will have their credentials revoked for the remainder of the year.

TROJAN ARENA MEDIA ROOM

WEBSITES & NEW MEDIA

Web-based media from sites affiliated with established, nationallyrecognized news-gathering organizations are eligible for media credentials. Online media with an emphasis on recruiting of potential student-athletes (that meet the above qualification) can request one (1) credential if the purpose of attending is to write a game/event recap. Credentials will not be granted to any online agency operating sites that are in any way affiliated with gambling. Nor will credentials be granted to “freelance” or “fan-based” sites that are not affiliated with an established news-gathering organization and/or sites whose sole entity is fan-generated message boards that allow the posting of anonymous comments.

WEEKLY INTERVIEWS

Head coach Chanda Rigby and Troy players will be made available for interviews in person or by telephone on a regular basis during the season. All interviews with Troy student-athletes must be coordinated through the Athletics Communications Office and requested with at least 24 hours advance notice. Telephone interviews will be fulfilled at a time that does not interfere with a student-athlete’s academic or practice schedule. PRACTICE COVERAGE

Troy women’s basketball practices are generally open to the media, however, please inform women’s basketball contact Hanna Cooper at least 24 hours in advance if you wish to cover practice. Practice locations and times tend to vary, making your cooperation vital.

SOCIAL MEDIA

The Trojan Arena Media Room opens two hours prior to game time. Media information sheets, game notes and flip cards are provided to all media members at their court side seat prior to the game and are also available in the working portion of the media room. Final statistic books will be available approximately 15 minutes after the game. Complimentary wireless Internet is available on press row and in the Trojan Arena Media Room.

POST GAME INTERVIEWS

Troy University is committed to a policy of equal access for both male and female reporters and photographers.

Photo credentials are subject to revocation by the Troy Athletics Communications Office at any time.

The Troy locker room is closed to the media. Interviews with Coach Rigby and players will be conducted following the NCAA-mandated 10-minute cooling-off period. Media are asked to submit a list of player interview requests to Hanna Cooper prior to the media timeout in the fourth quarter.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Troy follows NCAA and Sun Belt Conference rules regarding media representatives photographing games. Only properly credentialed photographers will be allowed in the designated photo areas of Trojan Arena as specified by the NCAA and Sun Belt Conference. NO photographers will be permitted to shoot from the sidelines. All photographers must remain in Trojan Arena’s designated photo areas along the baselines.

Hired April 11, 2012 Entering her 10th season at Troy in 2021-22, Chanda Rigby has built the Trojans into the premier program in the Sun Belt Conference, winning four championships in six years and producing the most conference wins (68) since 2017 regardless of gender. Since taking over the program in 2012, Rigby has made Troy a perennial championship and NCAA Tournament contender.

Rigby’s impressive resume includes six 20+ win seasons, three Sun Belt Tournament Championships, a Sun Belt Regular Season Title, three trips to the NCAA Tournament, five postseason appearances, 18 all-conference selections, five Sun Belt Post Season Award winners, a Sun Belt Player of the Year honoree and a Sun Belt Coach of the Year honor. The 2020-21 season was another one for the record books for Rigby. She led her program to its third NCAA Tournament appearance, the program’s third Sun Belt Tournament Championship and sixth 20+ win season. She was honored by the League’s head coaches and media members for the first time as she was named the Sun Belt Conference Coach of the Year. The individual awards didn’t stop with Rigby though. HEAD COACH CHANDA RIGBY Troy put together its most successful season in program history during the 2019-20 campaign. Rigby led Troy to a programrecord 25 victories and the program’s first-ever Sun Belt Regular Season Championship after posting a 16-2 conference record. Although the season was cut short due to COVID-19, the Trojans earned the No. 1 seed in the SBC Tournament. Rigby guided three players to all-conference honors, the most honorees in a single season in program history. In December Troy earned its highest RPI rating in program history (36) before ending the season with an RPI of 44, the highest in the SBC. Under Rigby’s leadership, the Trojans led the NCAA in total rebounds (1,595), rebounding margin (+15.4), rebounds per game (55.0), offensive rebounds per game (22.2) and defensive boards per game (32.8). In 2018-19, the Trojans earned their first-ever invitation to the WNIT. Rigby guided Sky’Lynn Holmes to the SBC Defensive Player of the Year, the first such award as SBC members. Holmes was also named to the All-Sun Belt Second Team. Once again, Rigby’s squad was one of the best offensive teams in the country, averaging 82.3 points per game average and a +10.3 rebound margin, finishing fifth-best in the NCAA in both stats. The Trojans finished first nationally in offensive rebounds and first in the country in rebounds per game at 50.48. In 2017-18 Rigby’s Trojans finished 18-13 overall after the departure of seven seniors from the previous season. The Trojans led the Sun Belt in scoring (81.9) and the NCAA in rebounding (49.5) joining Baylor as the only schools in the nation to lead its conference in both categories in each of the last six seasons.

Troy won its second consecutive Sun Belt Conference Tournament championship in 2016-17 earning a second straight bid to the NCAA Tournament. Forward Caitlyn Ramirez was named first team All-Sun Belt Conference and SBC Tournament MVP. For the fifth straight season, the Trojans led the league in scoring and finished top 10 in the nation with 82.5 points per game. Troy was second in the NCAA with 50.15 rebounds per game including an 86-rebound performance against Arkansas State in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament quarterfinals, the second-most in NCAA history. In 2015-16, the Trojans finished 20-13, won the Sun Belt Conference Tournament and qualified for the NCAA Tournament for just the second time in program history. Ashley Beverly Kelley was named First Team AllSun Belt Conference and SBC Tournament MVP. Caitlyn Ramirez took home third team All-Sun Belt honors as well. In 2013-14, Rigby coached her first, First Team All-Sun Belt performer when Joanna Harden became the first All-Sun Belt First Team member under Rigby when she led the Sun Belt in scoring at 25.1 points per game. Harden finished seventh in the NCAA in scoring, was a finalist for the Nancy Lieberman Award given to the nation’s top point guard. During the year Troy averaged 80.4 points per game and became just the second Sun Belt team since 2000 to average over 80.0 points per game.

In Rigby’s first season at the helm in 2012-13, Troy won seven games, a five-win improvement from the year before and tying the total number of wins Troy won over the previous two seasons combined. It was also Troy’s first season playing its home games in the newly constructed Trojan Arena. Before taking over the Trojan program in 2012-13, Rigby spent 12 years at the junior college level. She spent seven seasons at Pensacola State where she coached three WBCA All-Americans as well as one McDonald’s All-American and four NJCAA AllAmericans. She guided the Pirates to a combined 64-6 record over the last two seasons with two trips to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Final Four and earned two third-place finishes. Before Pensacola State, Rigby led Holmes Community College to four straight winning seasons and spent one season at NAIA Tabor College where she transformed a lastplace team into one of the top teams in the conference. Rigby began her head coaching career at Northwest Rankin High School in Mississippi in 1992 before returning to her home state of Louisiana to coach at Loranger High School from 1996-2000. Rigby graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University with a bachelor’s degree in English education in 1990 and a master’s degree in secondary education in 1998. She earned her doctorate in higher education leadership from Nova Southeastern University in July of 2017. She is married to Ed Rigby, a high school football head coach and Athletic Director. The couple has two sons, Ramsey and Randon.

Jennifer Graf 10th Season | Northwestern State, 2000 Loranger, La. | Hired June 5, 2012 Jennifer Graf begins her 10th season at Troy in 2021-22, and her ninth as the associate head coach after being elevated to that position in 2013-14. In her nine seasons with the Trojans, Graf has helped guide the Trojans to four Sun Belt Championships and five postseason berths including three NCAA Tournament appearances. Graf, who works primarily with the forwards, has been a vital part in creating a championship culture within the Troy women’s basketball program. During her time at Troy, Graf has helped lead the Trojans to three Sun Belt Tournament Championships (‘16,’17, ‘21) as well as their first-ever Sun Belt Regular Season Crown in 2020 while also earning trips to three NCAA Tournaments, the WNIT and WBI postseason tournaments. Graf’s work with the forwards has been instrumental in Troy being the nation’s leader in rebounds each of the last five seasons (2016-21) while finishing inside the top five for the last six years.

During Graf’s tenure at Troy, the Trojans have consistently ranked at, or near the top, in numerous statistical categories. Between 2017-21, Troy led the nation in rebounds per game while leading the country in every rebounding category during the 2019-20 season. Troy has also been one of the best at scoring, finishing in the top 10 every season since 2015-16. Since her first season in 2012-13 Troy has led the Sun Belt in scoring average per game. In 2020-21, Troy had its best offensive season since the 1992-93 season when they averaged 86.0 ppg, the third-best average in the NCAA.

Graf starred at Northwestern State University as both a player and coach. Graf was named the Lady Demons’ head coach on Sept. 1, 2004, becoming the youngest NCAA Division I head coach at the time at the age of 26. In her eight seasons at the helm of the Northwestern State program, Graf posted a 106-131 career record, giving her the third most wins in program history. She coached 19 All-Southland selections and 15 All-Louisiana selections, including two Southland Conference Freshmen of the Year. As a player, Graf played in 110 games for Northwestern State, winning 74, while winning the Southland Conference Championship and making a WNIT appearance during her junior year. She was an all-conference selection her senior season, a three-time Academic All-Southland Conference selection. A native of Loranger, La., Graf led Loranger High School to a state championship her senior season and was named the Louisiana Class 2A Most Valuable Player under the direction of Chanda Rigby. Graf earned her bachelor’s degree in health and physical education from Northwestern State University in 2000. She received her Master’s of Education in sports administration from Northwestern State in 2002.

Since Graf’s first season in 2012-13, she has helped players earn 18 All-Sun Belt honors including seven first team honors. Graf was instrumental in the development of forwards Sky’Lynn Holmes, who earned SBC Newcomer of the Year (2017-18) and Defensive Player of the Year (2018-19) honors as well as Caitlyn Ramirez, who was a two-time all-conference honoree and the 2017 SBC Tournament MVP. During the 2020-21 season, Graf guided Felmas Koranga to SBC Newcomer of the Year honors and Alexus Dye to be the nation’s double-doubles leader (23) while also becoming the first Trojan to ever be named the Sun Belt Player of the Year. In her eight seasons with the Trojans, Simmons has helped guide the Trojans to four Sun Belt Championships and five post season berths including three NCAA Tournament appearances.

Simmons, who works primarily with the guards, has been a vital part in creating a championship culture within the Troy women’s basketball program. During her time at Troy, Simmons has helped lead the Trojans to three Sun Belt Tournament Championships (‘16,’17, ‘21) as well as their first-ever Sun Belt Regular Season Crown in 2020 while also earning trips to three NCAA Tournaments, the WNIT and WBI postseason tournaments. Simmon’s work with the guards has been instrumental in Troy being among the best scoring teams in the country. In 2020-21, Troy also saw themselves rank near the top in assists and steals. The Trojans ranked 13th in assists per game (16.8 apg) and 12th in total assists (471) while ranking fifth in total steals (291) and 26th in steals per game (10.4 spg). Simmons was instrumental in the development of guards Ashley Beverly Kelley, who was a threetime All-Sun Belt Performer (2013-16) and a back-to-back first team honoree (2014-16) and Joanna Harden, who was a first-team All-Sun Belt performer (2013-14) averaging a Troy record 25.1 points per game and finishing first in the Sun Belt and seventh in the NCAA in scoring average. Most recently she helped develop Jasmine Robinson into an all-conference performer, a Sun Belt All-Tournament Team honoree and the 25th member of the 1,000-point club while also helping guide Alexus Dye to becoming the first Trojan to be named the Sun Belt Player of the Year. Troy has led the Sun Belt in scoring average per game every season. In 2020-21, Troy had its best offensive season since the 1992-93 season when they averaged 86.0 ppg, the third-best average in the NCAA. Prior to coming to Troy Simmons spent one season at Louisiana Tech (2012-13) working under legendary college and WNBA player Teresa Weatherspoon. Before that Simmons served as an assistant coach at Trinity Valley Community College in Athens, Texas for two seasons where she was the recruiting coordinator and signed two nationally ranked recruiting classes. While at Trinity Valley she helped guide them to a 72-3 record including an NJCAA National Title (2011-12) and a runner-up finish (2010-11). Simmons began her coaching career in 2008-09 as an assistant coach at Louisiana and was named the Ragin’ Cajuns recruiting coordinator in 200910. A native of Baton Rouge, La., she played at the University of Louisville (2006-08) with two NCAA Tournament appearances and a Sweet 16 appearance. Prior to her two seasons at Louisville she played one season at Trinity Valley after beginning her career at Tulane in 2004-05. Simmons received her bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Louisville in 2008. She is fluent in sign language and volunteered at the 2007 Mini Deaf Olympics. Simmons has twin daughters, Courtlyn and Carli.

Prior to arriving at Troy, Harrow spent two seasons at Valdosta State as a graduate assistant coach (2013-15) and two seasons coaching the men’s basketball program at F.C Martinenc in Barcelona, Spain (2011-13) where he was the head coach of the U18 boys’ team in 2011-12. He guided the team to a 24-2 record and a championship in the Catalan “Nivel C” league, leading to promotion into the “Nivel B” league. The following year he served in a dual role as head coach of the U16 boys’ team and assistant coach for the U21 men’s team. During his time in Barcelona, Harrow also served as a youth development coach at the Benjamin Franklin International School and the American School of Barcelona. He also served as a coach at the Jordan Brand Invitational in Barcelona. Harrow joins Houston Baptist head coach Donna Finnie and assistant coach Becca Allison as the only three Scotland natives coaching in NCAA women’s basketball. A native of East Kilbride in Scotland, Harrow earned a bachelor’s degree in sports coaching and physiology from the University of the West of Scotland in 2010.
