Monies received from ticket sales and raised at auction of horses will be raised to generate the prize pool. 10% of ticket sales and auction money will go to the Club.
Rules for Calcutta If you draw a horse, you may retain the horse by bidding and winning the auction for the horse. As the drawer, you will only be required to pay 50% of the bid price. A person may bid to purchase a horse at the auction. If you are the successful bidder, 40% of
the successful bid goes into the prize pool, with 50% of the bid price going to the drawer of the horse, and 10% to the Club. If you draw a horse but are not present on the night (and not contactable) the horse will be auctioned and you will receive 50% of the winning bid price. If a drawn horse is scratched, there will be no refund to the purchaser. Emergency horses will be drawn and sold but purchasers will have monies refunded if horses do not get a start. All monies must be paid on night of auction. The auctioneer will have the final decision regarding any disputes and his decision will stand. With a long and proud history, the Mount Gambier Racing Club is the largest Race Club in the Limestone Coast and is a full time Training Centre. The MGRC holds 10 race meetings a season, with the ‘show piece’ being the Scott Group of Companies Mount Gambier Gold Cup.
