ach year crowds of over 10,000 people flock to the mid-week race meet to revile in the unique atmosphere The Balaklava Cup

has become known for. Fashion always plays a big part in

the Cup experience and, with $12,000 worth of prizes up for grabs in this year’s Fashion on the Field competition, the stakes are certainly high. With so much on the line, this year’s Face of the Cup, Amy Rowley, is expecting a big jump in the standards. The winner of the Balaklava Fashion on the Field competition will also go onto represent the Balaklava Racing Club at the statewide final of Fashion at The Races, held on Sportingbet Derby Day at Morphettville in May 2015. Amy, a former Miss World Australia Finalist who has modelled for a number of fashion magazines including Cleo, will again judge the event this year alongside South Australian fashion designer Carmen from ‘Keepsake’. Amy has attended the past two Cups and thinks the “amazing food, beverages, sport, friends, entertainment and of course the fashion make it a must attend social event”.

EAT MELBOURNE: Melbourne’s mix of cultures can be experienced through its restaurants, cafes, bistros and bars. The city’s eclectic dining scene offers an array of the world’s great cuisines, placing it in the top echelons of global dining. fresh, locally-sourced produce is just as much in demand. Adelaideans want delicious food and fortunately its city delivers. DRINK MELBOURNE: There aren’t too many cities in the world that take their coffee as seriously as Melbourne does. At the city’s best cafes, professional baristas brew up the perfect drop to make the city the coffee capital of Australia.

ADELAIDE: Adelaide isn’t far behind the cafe culture of Melbourne, but its perfect drop is more likely to be in the form of a rich, full-bodied Shiraz from the Barossa Valley. Adelaide is Australia’s wine capital. Some of the world’s most well-known wine regions are just a short drive from the city, boasting household names such as Penfolds, Yalumba, Wolf Blass and Jacob’s Creek.

PLAY MELBOURNE: Melbourne’s eclectic spirit can be experienced with a night out exploring an array of unique nightspots peppering the city’s streets and laneways. Whether up a flight of stairs, down a laneway or on a rooftop overlooking a million dollar view, the city is full of hidden gems. Last but not least, spectator sports are aplenty in Melbourne – whether it’s an AFL match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, summer’s Australian Open Grand Slam at Melbourne Park or the Spring Racing Carnival at Flemington, the sporting calendar is full all year round. ADELAIDE: Adelaide is no stranger to the sporting scene either and with the $535 million Adelaide Oval redevelopment the spotlight has well and truly been shone on SA.
