all of whom are breast cancer sur vivors, whose sole purpose is to provide emotional, psychological and financial suppor t, as well as information and counselling to breast cancer patients. The funds raised from this wor thy event over the years have been used to assist hundreds of women who are cancer sur vivors to live long and productive lives. On Saturday October 3, despite a sudden rainstorm, volunteers and various par ticipants braved the weather and came out as early as 5:00 a.m. to begin set up and preparation for the race. Runners and walkers alike made their way from the ICWI Village located at the Head Office to the Star t line. After the prayer and a few shor t words by President Paul Lalor, the race was officially star ted by Mr. Alan Beckford. At the sound of the horn, runners raced along Trafalgar Road to star t their route. 3
This event would not have been possible without the suppor t of the entire ICWI family. ICWI and Jamaica Reach to Recover y would also like to thank Peak Bottling, Minott Ser vices, Hy-Lite, Jamaica Obser ver, Gore

St. Kitts Essence of Hope Breast Cancer Walk
The 2015 Breast Cancer Walk was led by ICWI which joined with the Essence of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation under the theme “walk for a cause, race for life” on Sunday October 18. Speaking on the radio the day before the walk President Paul Lalor urged everyone to come out in their numbers as it is important to improve awareness and fight this disease which should not have to be a death sentence. He also noted that ICWI was supporting the cause across the territories in which it operates. Despite

thousand participants turned out for the cause. The almost 3 mile walk started at 6:30 a.m. moving from the Buckley’s Estate, and ending on the lawns of Frigate Bay. ICWI is extremely grateful to be associated with the breast cancer awareness month of activities and its success as we continue the fight for a cure. 5

Upon arrival, staff and other
guests, were greeted with a selection of masks and beads to choose from before walking the red carpet where the “paparazzi” would snap photos. Upon entering the building, blue cocktails were offered to those daring enough to try, for others two fully stocked premium bars awaited inside. The venue was beautifully decorated with lounge areas and cocktail tables and for those who opted for a munch, pizza, pasta and dessert bars were centrally placed. At 10:00 p.m. the cocktail tables were put away transforming the lounge area into the

par ticipants, sold out over one week before the event date. Through the staging of this event, the funds raised each year enable the Foundation to offer women throughout Trinidad and Tobago access to free breast cancer screenings, as well as ultrasounds and mammograms. To date, the Scotiabank Women Against Breast Cancer Programme has funded over 16,000 women who required these ser vices. It is par ticularly notewor thy that the majority of women who have accessed the free screening are those who would not have been able to afford it. Adorned in their pink t-shir ts, ladies and gents joined in solidarity to raise funds for early detection. The team made a lasting impression and next year ICWI plans on having an even bigger Road Angel suppor t on the road.

“Set aside that 15 minutes as you are cleaning up dinner at night to get your lunch organised (along with the family’s if needed). You can even use leftover dinner for lunch by simply putting the extra into containers when you clear up,” says Cox. “If mornings work better for you, plan to give yourself that extra 10 minutes to put something together. Aim to include three different vegetables when making your lunch. “This will ensure you are getting an array of nutrients and not just relying on the same vegetables ever y day,” Cox says. “At the beginning of the week make up a big batch of roast vegetables that you can use as a base for salads or wrap options. Keep your fridge stocked with bags of baby spinach and/or rocket, an easy add on for extra greens.” For simple roast veggies, chop into chunky pieces, drizzle 10
