International Coastal Clean-up 2022

Whether it’s to enjoy mouth-watering fried fish with your favourite beer, basked in the natural beauty of the heap of sea that swells silently on the shore, or just to get away from the hustle and bustle of life, the beach is the perfect escape where you can just relax and enjoy the moment. Despite these pristine waters being a safe haven for us locals and one of the biggest drivers of tourism in Jamaica, this valuable natural resource has become a garbage dump and the negative results have been devastating.

On the Ground – Palisadoes Strip

On September 17, 2022 ICWI being an agent of environmental sustainability joined thousands of volunteers across the island participating in International Coastal Clean-up initiatives. It might not be the most exciting way to spend the day at the beach, but it was definitely meaningful and the best way to get involved. International Coastal Cleanup Day is celebrated worldwide and is one of the largest volunteer events inspiring action to fight against marine litter in the sea and along coastlines.
