ICWI 53rd Anniversary & Awards Ceremony
For several years, June 15th has been renowned for ICWI’s Anniversary and accompanying Awards ceremony and it is also the birthday of our founding father The Honourable Dennis Lalor. However, the 53rd staging was delayed due to the pandemic, which has forever changed the way we view the world, and resulted in the event being hosted on September 23, 2022 instead.
The Planning Committee was mindful of not creating a super spreader event and aimed to resume some level of normalcy by having a personal ceremony with awardees. The previous ceremony was hosted online, which has been the new norm, but this direct gathering did not disappoint.

Awardees attended dressed to the nines and while the event was not held at The Pegasus or another lavish venue as in prior years, but on the ground floor of our Head office, it was not to be found lacking. An element that may have added that extra touch of je ne sais quoi would have been live entertainment, but the lack thereof, owing once more to the pandemic, did not detract from the event.
The duty of in-house presenter was shared between the eloquent Mrs. Alrea Washington-Hoilett and the enthusias- tic Mrs. Jeneil Chang as Mrs. Washington-Hoilett was this year also an awardee, having served ICWI for thirty years. Mrs. Washington-Hoilett spirited attendees through the first segment, while Mrs. Chang ushered them through the latter portion of the ceremony so Mrs. Washington-Hoilett was free to bask in a well deserved milestone in her insurance career.
She joined the other thirty-three awardees which also included our President Mr. Paul Lalor who were all lauded for their years of service to the company ranging from five, ten, fifteen, twenty, and thirty years. A video clip from the department of each awardee was also shared during the ceremony highlighting their contributions to the team.
2021 saw a member from the Portmore branch, namely, Sherece Williams, securing the Signature Sales Leader Award. The Mandeville branch on the other hand, copped two awards this year. Firstly, Branch of the Year and secondly, Keisha Gordon, walked away with the Star Award. Ocho Rios was not to be left out as they were also victorious in two categories, a feat accomplished for two consecutive years. Most Improved Agent of the Year was won by Charlene Green and Karen Silvera snagged the Qubert Gordon Agent of the Year.
A new Employee of the Year was also selected for 2021. Shane Hall of the Constant Spring/Liguanea branch won that elusive award, while first and second runner up were awarded to Shane Clarke of the accounts department and Samantha Henry of the claims department respectively.
Miguel Palmer of the legal department undertook the reply on behalf of the awardees and began by quoting our chairman The Honourable Dennis Lalor. His speech very succinctly echoed the sentiments of the awardees and wounded down what was a phenomenal afternoon. The closing remarks were made by our President Mr. Paul Lalor, who brought the presentation aspect of the ceremony to a close. The attendees were then feted to a delectable meal that warmed palates and hearts as everyone got to relax and converse with teammates, some of whom they had not seen prior to the pandemic.
2021 was a fantastic year, pandemic or not, and the race is now on to see who the next winners will be. Congratulations to all the awardees!
Employee of the Year-Shane Hall (Liguanea Branch)

He is not one to break under pressure and is a very helpful individual who will go above and beyond to ensure that targets are met. Shane also interacts well with staff and has the ability to form business relationships and source new business. He has grown tremendously since joining the ICWI team and we expect great things from our Employee of the year 2021.
