WKPP Blood Drive
Annually, Jamaica Energy Partners and West Kingston Power Partners spearhead Christmas Blood Drives as part of the companies’ steadfast contribution to the island’s blood demand. Blood shortage can place a significant burden on the medical efforts aimed at saving as many lives as possible each year. Since 2015 JEP and WKPP have hosted blood drives, predominantly, to assist with alleviating this strain on the blood bank. To conclude 2017 JEP hosted its third annual Blood Drive on December 12, 2017, and WKPP on December 15, 2017. Donating blood is one of the most precious gifts a person can give to someone in need. To this end, the dedicated advocates at Jamaica Energy Partners and West Kingston Power Partners together contributed 60 units of blood to the National Blood Transfusion Service! Through a

series of photos, videos and infographics, we conducted promotions online to encourage staff and the public to give blood. Under the theme, Give The Gift of Life, the campaign focused, primarily, on sharing information about the benefits of blood donation; steps of the donation process as well as debunking a few myths. JEP and WKPP anticipate future blood drives and hope to contribute more units following its next staging. Giving blood is a short and painless process, and one unit of blood can save up to three lives. JEP and WKPP, therefore, urge staff once you fulfill the requirements to give and experience the tremendous feeling of giving something vital to someone who needs it. Remember you can donate blood up to four times per year. To find your nearest donation center, contact the National Blood Transfusion Service.

activities to ensure the survival of themselves and their families. JEP’s annual distribution is one of our many CSR initiatives aimed at positively contributing to the society and demonstrating our appreciation for their support. Our strong relationship with the residents resulted in the safe passage of JEP’s staff throughout the communities, despite recent social uprising and road blockages in the area. Nevertheless, the local police joined us to ensure our safety.
Since 1995 JEP has been heavily involved in sports initiatives, which aims to promote unity in our communities as well as encourage discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork. Our Cricket League has made a significant impact and developed talents like Shakar Thomas, Tamar Lambert, Andre Russell and Nkrumah Bonner; all of whom have been successful in representing the country and region competitively. On December 7, 2017, Public and Community Relations Specialist Melissa Newman attended the JEP Cricket League Awards Ceremony on behalf of the company. After competing for three months, Ewarton came out victorious as the winner of the 2017 JEP Cricket Competition. We would like to extend our warmest congratulations to all teams and wish them continued success!

WKPP J$804,000 SPONSORS CHRISTMAS TO DOMINICA TREATS RELIEF EFFORTS IN THE WESTERN KINGSTON DIVISION WKPP DONATES
JEP on November 21, 2017, presented the Office of Disaster Preparedness & Emergency Management (ODPEM) a cheque for the sum of J$804,000 to assist Dominica with its hurricane relief efforts. In the wake of damage caused by Hurricane Maria, representatives from JEP and WKPP campaigned for two months, subsequently raising J$402,000 in staff contributions; which was afterwards matched by both companies.
Since the inception of the West Kingston Power Plant, the President and CEO, Wayne McKenzie

Doctor Bird’s Achievement For the first time in the company’s history, Doctor Bird has accomplished a perfect TRIR score (in 2017). This is a significant achievement by any standard, which perfectly complements the ‘no lost time incidents’ achieved at both the West Kingston and the Doctor Bird facilities for 2017. The JEP/WKPP management team recognizes the implications of this achievement. It says a great deal for on looking insurance companies, prospective employees, and potential business partners that are interested in organizations that demonstrate a strong safety record.
WKPP ACHIEVES
822 DAYS WITHOUT LOST TIME IN 2017! On December 31, 2017, WKPP attained 822 days without a Lost Time Accident (LTA). The numbers came from two consecutive calendar years worked at the facility, 2016 and 2017 plus an additional 91 days from 2015. With the continued efforts and vigilance already expressed by WKPP’s dedicated management and staff, we can achieve 1,000 days by June 27, 2018. Our ultimate goal for 2018 is to end with 1,187 days. According to Jermaine Spencer, WKPP’s Safety and Security Specialist, this is very much achievable.
