Archiving great results requires skills and a thorough process of planning and executing. It’s a process that’s inherently creative, yet it exists within confined limits of commercial criteria. In 2022, Yellows took on a photo assignment for Poliform Copenhagen, to visualize a larger project in a mansion in Copenhagen. However, in this process a completely unique opportunity arose. An extra day of shooting, completely without the limiting framework, client wishes and accompanying shooting lists. That second shoot became a day of exploration, playfulness and instinct. The result “The Day After” is a Helmut Newton-inspired project, which is included in this edition of Y. Paper. With great dedication to the entire team - and external forces that have contributed to the final result.
Since the release of Y. Paper Issue 01 in June 2019, and now focusing on Mikkel Mortensen, we’ve had the spotlight on all of our amazing photographers in the Yellows collective. Therefore, Issue 07 will be the final edition in this form and physical format. However, new things will happen. So be prepared for something new, visually creative, inspiring, challenging – and still printed on real paper.

Mikkel Mortensen is the founder of Yellows. His photographic style balances an aesthetical minimalism with creativity and distinct playfulness. He constantly strives to evolve his work and to leave his mark – both professionally and personally. Mikkel has worked with many of the world’s leading design and interior magazines, and through the years he has developed a strong aesthetic sense, which allows him to push the boundaries of creativity and explore surprising, visual solutions to the needs of Yellows’ clients.
To Mikkel it’s important to be positive and to inspire others. He enjoys passing on his ideas, exploring visual solutions with young photographers and to play a positive part in the future of the industry.
