This is a new beginning. When a baby is born in an African family, they make a big feast, women will be ululating, an animal would be slaughtered and umxombothi will be brewed for men and close relatives are invited. In doing so they are welcoming the bundle of joy in the family. Like a newborn baby TYM (Tshwane Youth Magazine) is born this month. The idea behind this magazine came about when a group of young people with similar interest felt that the needs of young people who are still in school, be tertiary level are not fully met by the magazines which are already in circulation. They conducted a research which indeed proved this to be true. There are only a hand full of magazines which are working hard to cater for their needs but only in few pages. We felt that most magazines fail to cover issues that affect young people especially from disadvantaged background the possible career path and preparing them to the adult world. This magazine is catering for the needs of school learners yet it also stretches to the working-class. We will be looking into issues of health, career, business and cover stories of people who have made it through trying times. We aim to educate, entertain and inform young people. Since everybody or should I say some of you who will be going to varsity, colleges, fly by night school or antenatal clinics. I have the latest trends on what to wear and what not to wear for this summer and do not stress about the weight you have gained during the festive season because it was meant for you to gain. What can I call my column 'ekasi talk'? nah let me just call it The Do's and Don'ts in style. So let me begin, but before I must not forget the guys or should i say the “Boys” I know that some of you will go for a common career choice which is being a taxi driver Ooops did I say that,oh yeah I did now deal with it. So let me begin... The Do's for girls. A mini skirt would be great choice girls. Wear your minis with pride even if you are called by the “B word” for wearing it just turn around and answer politely and say “this be has positive things to offer in life than wasting time and judging people base on their attire”. I love nice classy gladiators oooh just listen to me, I sound like i want to jump-ship to the female body.Wear them with a nice vest to show off your cleavage only if you have a good skin condition. You won't go wrong with a pair of skinny jeans if you not into mini skirts. But please stay away from china shops or street vendors if you will be buying imitation of a well known brand!! Enough with the Do's let me touch the Don'ts The Don'ts for girls. Please please please girls, stop wearing leggings cause they are so 1912 or maybe you can still wear them but only when you are cleaning at home even if they are embarrassing to be seen in public but what the heck wear them and clean your home.. Shuu girls I think you all can use this tips. We guys have this mindset of saying that girls are fussy and complicated but let me just tell the truth guys are the most complicated and fussy people because the try to blame everything on opposite sex, mxm shame it's time to grow up guys...okay now let me focus on the job that i am being paid for. The Do's for guys or boys Cargo shorts or pants are a must have this season but guys when coming to shorts just check your legs if you are doing justice to them cause we cannot have guys with lollipop legs wearing shorts. Golf T-shirt are so in but let's not overuse them because golfers are found in country clubs and go for bright colours with a limit. A good pair of All star converse chuck Taylor would be a great choice for now only... those are all the Do's for now and please guys wash your clothes and shoes because smelly feet are just a turn off. The Don'ts for guys or boys Eish I wanted to take this out of chest eyooh guys stop wearing skinny jeans or just go do a sex change once and for all because you don't know which team you are supporting(girls or boys)and I had enough of wannabe girls “All offence intended” Scurl and cut is so banal, do you guys enjoy being shiny on the head?? Or is there something you want to share with me? Stop hiding and tell us the real reason behind that shiny head. What an article I hope I find you all in good outfits and having a good time at your higher learning institutions or friendly working environment that allows you to wear what i precisely recommend for you to wear and not only looking good but doing excellently in your academics because in order to succeed you have to get a good education. So girls and boys till next month when we talk do's & dont's on the social network sites!!

By Abigail Luya So what's the hype about Skype? Consumerism is free and easy to use. Technological advances have simplified the service. Calls to other consumers within Skype service are free while calls to both usual landline telephones and mobile phones are made for a nominal fee.
either the computer's microphone and speakers or a headset. Although the best quality is obtained with the second solution. Thanks to technology, you can now use Skype on certain mobile phones such as Blackberry, Android 3G, the iPhone, Nokia N800, N810 and N900 as well as Sony Mylo to mention but a few.
Niklas Zennström and Janus Friis, great entrepreneurs had a vision in 2002 to liberate consumers and the business sector from the need to pay for communication across the globe. It began with webcam and a computer gadget. Then the puzzle shifted to laptops inbuilt with a webcam. And now it's in your pocket on your mobile phone! Advancing of technology has simplified Skype which is now downloaded on your phone. This simplicity has availed users of the technology to dial calls from their computer terminal to any other Skype user in the world connected to the internet, landlines and mobile phones. Like the video calls with a webcam, chats and or sending files, calls between computers are undoubtedly free. To make calls you can use

The local Etv music show club 808 also use Skype to communicate with local and international artists during the programming. The Skype hype which is up and happening, has seemingly bypassed most of young people due to installation fees when
downloading the software. Furthermore, most Youths don't have access to the internet within their homes, nor do they possess smart phones for entry into the technology. The student at University of Pretoria also popularly known Tuks, Shumani Nelufule mentioned that Skype is very handy and claims that one can easily communicate with friends and families from abroad. A University of Johannesburg student, Nomfudo Lukwe said: “It saves money. And makes sense economically when doing business across the globe.” A student at UNISA, BoitumeloThabane currently sees no need for Skype; “Maybe in future when I need to engage in business with people from across the country or continent, I will use Skype.” An employee at IBM, Lihle Khumalo said the company does not use Skype although they use a software that is also similar to Skype for business purposes. “As an individual and on a personal note; I have a Skype to network with my other collegues,” he said. However, Skype is quickly becoming part of the broader community and the business sector in South Africa. The world of technology is not limited for now - we still have to await what's to come!

Don't Quit When things go wrong as they sometimes will; When the road you're trudging seems all uphill; When the funds are low, and the debts are high; And you want to smile, but you have to sigh; When care is pressing you down a bit Rest if you must, but don't you quit. Success is failure turned inside out; The silver tint of the clouds of doubt; And you can never tell how close you are; It may be near when it seems far. So, stick to the fight when you're hardest hit It's when things go wrong that you mustn't quit. I would do less correcting and more connecting. I'd take my eyes off my watch, and watch with my eyes. I would care to know less and know to care more. I'd take more hikes and fly more kites. I'd stop playing serious, and seriously play. I would run through more fields and gaze at more stars, I'd do more hugging and less tugging. The Road Not Taken Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that passing there Had worn them really about the same, And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads to way, I doubted if I should ever come back. Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference. By Robert Frost

In business with the talented DJ/Producer & Multi-Racial Records owner Mr Gerald Ribeiro known as "DJ Sisco".
DJ Sisco
Why did you pursue to be in the entertainment industry? I was originally doing it as a hobby but eventually after finishing my studies and trying different business ventures , I found myself always going back to Dj'ing so I pursued it. Which one do you love doing? Dj'ing or producing? Dj'ing has always been my first love , I grew into production now it's become triple the pleasure playing your own tracks to crowds and getting a reaction out of it. What is unique about Multi Racial Records in this industry? Though Multi-Racial has grown to be a known brand in the House scene it is still kept on a personal level , from the way we select & produce our music to the way we entertain at our events, we somehow like to keep a very close tie with the streets, keeping a balance of not being overwhelmed by the mainstream. What changes is Multi Racial Records bringing in this industry? There is a couple of ventures , we are trying to create a large footprint foundation in the digital realm , while still trying to maintain presence in the physical sales , so we looking at various channels to achieve our vision. Was it easy establish an Entertainment company? Nothing in this world comes easy, there are endless obstacles the difference is the way you tackle each obstacle you come across and how you deal with it , the music & entertainment industry is no difference. Where are you taking DJ Sisco brand to? And what
are you planning to make Multi Racial a best company/business? As Sisco Umlambo the brand, I'm building myself as a solo producer/Dj ,as I am more known for Sis n' Jones I am in a position where I want to expand my solo footprint across the Globe, As for Multi-Racial we are looking at ways to grow,in 2010 we took a step back to survey the industry and see how we can expand the brand so in the coming years we see positive outcomes towards our vision of growing the urban house scene What more can we anticipate from DJ Sisco?Well I'm working on my solo project now which I've been messing around silently for the last 18 months , I feel I'm ready to release this year , so listeners can hear the true sound of Sisco Umlambo. Your best 3 Djs and 3 producers in SA? this question always gets me , becuase I respect every dj in this industry for there contribution and sacrifice to the industry as it can be an extreme ride, therefore It's one I find difficult to awnser, Black Coffee (I've seen where he has risen from and thats a true insperation) Christos ( he has always been open & true with advise & mentoring) Vinny Da Vinci ( he never fails to surprise me with his sound never!) A Coffee Business Opportunity - Perfect Business For Uncertain Times? By Stewart Baker If you are unsure whether a coffee business opportunity is what you are looking for, there are a few factors to consider which can help you to make this decision. One of the most important considerations to make this a lucrative business venture is that it has to deal

with a high-demand product. When it comes to coffee, you will be offering potential customers something which most people use on an everyday basis. If you are selling a product which is in tune with the daily lifestyle of many people, this is one of the surest ways of making profits. It will help you in acquiring new customers, and to retain regular customers as well.
12
While the consistent demand for the product is one factor in the success of your coffee business, locating it in the right area where you can gain the most customers is also a relevant factor. Depending upon what is available where you live, areas near a college campus, the business section of your town, and areas where people participate in various types of recreation are all prime locations for your coffee business. The more people who notice your business, the more profits you can make. When you are thinking about a coffee business opportunity, it is wise to consider your financial resources. While a successful business can gain good profits, you need to be sure you can afford the initial output to obtain the business, as well as the necessary costs for start-up. Coffee companies which offer franchise opportunities vary in their financial requirements, so it is helpful to compare the costs between the companies you are considering. Starting a coffee business is by no means inexpensive; if you will need to obtain a loan or other financial assistance, you should decide in advance if you can reasonably afford it. A coffee business opportunity can be a great opportunity if you have the drive to succeed. You need to know that opening and operating a coffee shop requires motivation, dedication, and hard work. Whether you plan to run the business yourself, or
13
hire managers to oversee its day-to-day operation, being willing to put your own time and effort into the business is a necessary ingredient for success. While operating a coffee shop can be quite time-consuming, it can also be personally rewarding and enjoyable for you. Coffee companies who offer franchises also vary in the types of training they will provide for new franchise owners. In addition to having the desire to learn how to operate your coffee business, you need to know that you will have the time to dedicate to the training. As some of these companies require on-site training, the time and expense for travel may also be a consideration. A coffee shop business opportunity may be exactly what you have been looking for. If you have the financial resources, motivation to learn and apply what you learn, and keep these important points in mind, you are well on your way toward making your business venture a success. Stewart Baker writes for JavaBeanReview.com They offer no-nonsense franchise information on how to start your own coffee business with popular names such as Starbucks franchise and Maui Wowi franchise. Waar 8 is not just any fashion label that you can come across the street of Jerusalem in Marabastad or any odd places. That's after I heard the real concept and vision from the founder Mr Thabang Lethoko who was born in Rustenburg, North West Province and moved to Pretoria in Mamelodi 10 years back with his mother after both parents separated”. I took my time to meet up with the man behind waar 8 clothing range label & former Rhythmic Elements music group creative director Thabang. After setting up an appointment with him for 5pm at a refined restaurant, it was clear that the man is on a mission and respects his craft as he arrives on time for the interview wearing his own brand “Waar 8”. He carried himself with assurance stepping towards me, he greeted me with a manly shake hand as guys normally do using kasi lingual; “eitah” and he took a sit. As we were about to start the interview he took out his Apple Macbook and his iPhone, placed them on the table. It's what one will expect from someone of his calibre, it shows that his all about moving with the times and on the other side it shows that life is good so far in his world. Swiftly moving along, I ordered my slow poison drink, while i was anticipating him to do the same; he went for 100% orange juice. Definitely he meant nothing but business. After 5 minutes or so, Sir Javas one of the prominent DJ's from Pretoria also joined us as he was accompanying “Mr Waar 8” . Thabang's phone rang time and again a sign that this guy is seemingly a popular person and everyone wants his attention. So he said to me, “let's get down to business my brother”, we went straight to the interview. I thought the interview will last to 15 or 20 minutes since he had other commitments to attend to. But to my surprise, it went almost an hour and 30minutes (from 17:00pm to 18:25pm to be exact). There was one reason and only one reason that made the interview to last for that long; he was so attached on describing the passion he has for success. T YM

ost people tend to lose focus in life especially when their parents or fathers are not around during their upbringing, but that was different with Thabang. “When my parents separated officially, it was hard for me to accept the situation as I was old enough to see and feel the pain that they were going through that moment. It affected me. But I stood my ground and pledged to myself that I need to do something out of myself than yelling over already spilled
water.” Thabang started a new life with his mother in Mamelodi, without seeing his father more often in Rustenburg. As a man of his words, despite the hardship, he studied beyond matric. He studied further for a diploma in Fine Art at Tshwane University of Technology. Being persistence as he is, the love for marketing grew, and got an opportunity to work for one of the biggest marketing companies in South Africa, Ogilvy. This was from 1999 to 2005. While with the Ogilvy, he worked on huge ad campaigns such as the KFC designing billboards, broadcast ads (radio and television) and print ad. He also worked on 94.7 fm logo. “My mother did not understand what i was doing at tertiary. Fine Art was a greek word and a weird career to her. The most careers that our parents can relate to is your obvious careers such as being a teacher, practitioner, lawyer and so forth. I remember the other time when she asked if really I will make a leaving out of Fine Art. Well it was a tricky question as Fine Art was most dominated by whites unlike now. And there was no guarantee that you will get a stable job out of this career choice. Fine Art does relate with marketing. As one is required to strategise, conceptualize and execute an advert from scratch. That also apply to fine art, you draw from the beginning of the sketch/picture till the end on your own”. Innovation, experience and the drive for new adventures saw him starting his own Ad agency after resigning from Ogilvy. Unfortunate the business did not leave up to its expectations from its founder. A good project, need more research, a marketing niche, and also contacts (client database) if not connections. However, he went on establishing an online magazine called Is'waar. He explains: “I have tried many things in life including music. But that's old news. All risks that I took did not usher me into a full successful business man. That did not stop me from exploring other opportunities. “Is'waar magazine did not generate millions in my account. But it surely pushed me to establishing 'Waar 8 clothing label” he smiled, pausing and added; “It's so very intriguing to just know how Waar 8 came about.” Thabang and his then crew from Is'waar magazine, had Is'waar branded t-shirts as part of promoting the online magazine. Many people liked the brand. He started making research on clothing range with Mark Ecko of Ecko Unlimited, owner of Phat Farm clothing range and others. He further said: “Waar 8 is not just a brand for t-shirts. It's a fashion line-up which has different merchandise up to hats. Waar 8 is in the pipe line venturing into lingerie clothing range. “This is just to show that we had vision, and were not narrowed minded,” Thabang cannot be classified as ordinary who goes for ordinary things. Everything he has is meticulous. He always strive to excel in life – and utilises the opportunity availing. He faces life head on with all his abilities without fear. One can speculate how did waar 8 reach this peak, its popularity within Pretoria and other places such as Botswana and Namibia? Well that does not need a scientist to crack this one for you. With its knack of Rhythmic Elements and other prominent artists from Pretoria such as DJ Silly Bean, Sir Javas and others, who were brand ambassadors, enhanced its popularity. “These guys are forever on the lime light. So it's a great opportunity to associate the clothing brand with them. They have been on TV for interviews and or performances – music videos and other live events. In addition, I went to China for Waar 8 photo shoots promoting the brand in Asia. That's how serious I am about taking Waar 8 to another level. “After all, this is business not a hobby”. It's really inspiring to see how hungry Thabang is for success and willing to risk all odds just to see his dreams being fulfilled and this comes with no surprise should the Waar 8 do exceptionally well in other parts of the world. Most South Africans are reported supporting international brands and instead they are apparently not proud of South African products. Thabang said he is never discouraged with all that saying he knows what he wants.

During the interview, Thabang advised the youth to build their legacy. “Young people will need to create opportunities for themselves other than wait for the government,” he said. The Young entrepreneur also got involved, once upon a time, in one of the most great moment of Rhythmic Elements second album at the very time they had been looking for someone to print t-shirts for their “Lesson number 1” music video. At that time, most printing shops were duty off and no one could print their t-shirts just over night. Thabang was the only person willing to render a design and printing of t-shirts service for the Rhythmic Elements group. “That's how I got to know the guys. After they saw my design for Lesson number 1 t-shirts, our relationship also grew - They recruited me as a Two Tone Entertainment Creative Director. This was based purely on my experience of marketing. “My duty was to market the artists such as Sir Javas & Rhythmic Elements. I would also conceptualize their videos from the story-line, directing to designing a CD cover”. Fast forward, “I am no longer part of Two Tone, as I am currently partnering with others to establishing a fresh new entertainment company. It will be known as the RED-TAPE. “I will keep you informed on that one. But surely something big is coming out of the RED-TAPE soon.” One can ask himself when Thabang is going to stop hoping from one company to another. The answer is, his not going to stop now as he is destined for more greater things in life, and with his vigorous aspects in life, he still has alot to offer in the industry of music, fashion and who knows what else...? His motto is very simple as he concludes the interview by saying, “my dream is not to pursue someone's dream, but mine”.

Instead, climatology is the study of climate, which is actually all weather conditions averaged over a period of time and takes into consideration short-term and long-term weather conditions i.e. weather patterns over 100 years and sometimes 10 000's of years. There are various sub-branches of climatology and these include paleoclimatology, which looks at studying the climate over the course of the Earth's existence (4.5 billion years old) by examining records of tree rings, rocks and sediment, and ice cores and historical climatology which focuses on climate changes throughout history and the effects of the climate on people and events over time. Therefore climatology focuses also 19
on how the changes in climate occur and how those changes may affect future conditions, using the past to understand the future! A climatologist tries to discover and explain the impact of climate, so that society can plan its activities, design its buildings, and anticipate the effects of adverse conditions. How many people have had failed relationships? How many failed relationships have you had? Plenty...I suppose! What was your reason for giving up on your partner? Perhaps you answered, "She was just not for me!", and your other partner? Maybe you answered; "She was too much, very wild and I couldn't stand her!" You must have had a lot of drama in your previous relationships! I can't blame you though--we date different people until we finally get the right one! How long should we stay in the searching game? We are different! Some people are lucky--true love comes early for them. Some have to go through so much to finally retire from searching. Why are some people lucky when it comes to having good relationships? Maybe they work hard to create the perfect love, instead of wasting time looking for the perfect lover. No one is perfect, but love can be...as Tom Robbins, an author puts it. A good friend of mine once told me this: "You create your own luck! The harder you work, the luckier you become." True! We shouldn't give up on people too early. Let us rather use the 80/20 rule in our relationships. If your partner takes you out, supports you, gives you a hug when you need it but fails to call you as you wish; why don't you introduce the 20% that lacks? Why not call? In that way, you are working hard to have a good relationship! We shouldn't rush to call it quits when things go bad. Relationships have ups and downs, if the downs start to overshadow and you leave--you are a coward. How many relationships will you walk out on if you can't fix your relationship?
Obesity A Serious Matter! Over 60% South Africans are battling with obesity. In a research conducted by the Medical Research Council in 2003 56% of women and 29% of men are overweight. Nearly 10% of men and 24% of women have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of more than 30. Obesity means one has an unhealthy amount of body fat. It is caused by factors ranging from chemical imbalance, genetic factors, unhealthy choices and modern living. Everyone needs some body fat, but too much fat can cause health problems. Some children are experiencing such problems even before they reach adulthood. Overweight children are likely to grow into overweight adults, most with a lot of potentially life-threatening problems in tow, including increased risk of heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, kidney disease and even some forms of cancer. People have lost interest in exercising. They watch more TV than they did 20 years ago. The innovation of computers has done no justice to the problem, particularly to the pre-teens and teenagers. The habits that these people form in their youth remain with them for the rest of their lives'. Another factor that contributes to obesity is unhealthy eating. This plays a huge role in townships. In every street corner there is a fast food outlet which is well supported. People prefer eating out than preparing a healthy meal. Obesity leads to a series of problems. The main concerns with this disease are heart and circulatory diseases (including strokes and peripheral vascular problems) and diabetes. These two problems are consistent. Diabetics have a much higher chance of contracting circulatory diseases. Even the incidence of some cancers, such as estrogen-dependent breast cancer, can be raised by obesity. Those diseases related to diabetes and overweight are also increased; these include blindness, neuropathy, congestive heart failure and valve calcification. The solution to this problem is to exercise more, less caloric intake. Urban people had higher weights than people who were living outside the cities, and some of the poorer South African provinces had high prevalence rates for overweight and/or obesity 23

Hi! my name is Gwendoline Mpe. I'm a girl from Polokwane, born and bred in Polokwane. I got my first job via Liberty Life learnership in the HR department. While still working for Liberty, I was busy with the scholarship application to study abroad which my mom found for me in the newspaper, my application was succesful and I went for interviews and got the scholarship. Then I was send to Czech Republic to study Transport management, marketing and logistics. The country at first was just cold but I guess this happens for every foreigner, I warmed up to it and its a nice country, although it's not a racially mixed country, we still find people here who have never ever seen black people in their lives before, but it doesnt get to me as much. The life style for younger people is quite good but there is alot of drinking and partying for them, but yet, still focus on thier careers and school work .The youth here is very outgoing and active, they like going out for vacations during holidays or seasonally in the mountains and cross country on bikes and just enjoy life. What I love most about the country is people respect one another and they are not after material things like us back home, for an example; they will not buy things they do not afford or buy things to impress others. Working opportunities are scarce this side for foreigners due to language barrier, but if you study here and learn their language then yes you will be able to find a job.

Dare To Be Different THE WALK I think it all started when I was 18 years old and in my first year at campus. That was about the time that I started to observe people's behaviour and just to think about life. I was taking a walk with two friends and was in deep thought. They were chatting, but I was not paying attention to what they were saying. Then suddenly I said, “You know guys; I am pretty disappointed with the adult world.” One of them asked me why and I explained that when I was going to campus I expected a lot of change and difference in the behaviour of the people around me. After all, they were adults. I always thought being an “adult” was a lot different from being a kid. However I felt after being on campus for a few months that the adult world was not what I had expected. Everyone just seemed to behave like they were still teenagers. Nobody seemed to be outstanding in any way. There was no distinction, as far as I could see, between the 18 year old and the 50 year old apart from their age! Where was the wisdom and excellence I had come to expect. There was no change! I did not know it then, but over the years I have come to see that the reason people don't change is simply that they do not dare to be different. WHAT DOES BEING DIFFERENT MEAN? Being different means:- Not being afraid to challenge the norm.- Being willing to take a chance.- Asking why.- Making your own track, not just following the well trodden path.- Charting your own course and destiny.- Being the person that you were meant to be. I believe that everyone is born unique. But through the years we work very hard to be like everyone else. We conform to society's so-called “common-sense.” Unfortunately it is just that – “common sense.” That does not mean its “good sense.” THE FOLLY OF EDUCATION. If I were to take just the people in this room, it is likely that most of you have spent anything from 15 to 20 years getting an education so you can get the jobs you have. Doesn't it strike you as irresponsible that one can spend so much time getting an education and yet so many people don't make any deliberate effort to develop their greatest asset – themselves! Most people think once they have a qualification that's it. They have arrived. Is it any wonder they don't grow? They are stagnant. Stuck at 18! Most of us won't even read unless there's an exam in sight. But you know what? Everyday of your life is an exam. Everyday you either pass or fail the test of life. Everyday is an opportunity to grow beyond your present barriers and circumstances. Everyday is a chance to become a better person. The saddest part is most of people don't realize this. If they had to be graded at the end of their lives you know what they'd get? F, F and more F's. And yet they thought they were doing very well. They let society's “common sense” grade them. MY ADVICE? If I can leave you with one piece of advice it would be this: READ Society celebrates mediocrity so much that it does not take much to set you above the rest. Doing that one thing regularly will put you way above the rest. Read books that challenge you and that make you think. I have decided to read at least one book every month. I'm already amazed at the results. MY FINAL WORDS In closing I'd like to say to those of you that are still sceptic out there, those of you that are saying “oh, he is just drunk with the omnipotence of youth. He'll get over it, and then he'll be just like everyone else.” My words to you are: “I ain't going out like that. I know that I have an abundance of potential within me and I will bring it out to fruition. Why?”. Because…I'M DIFFERENT!

*Always be on Time: Most of us believe that walking in with just enough time to put our lunch in the mini fridge and re-tuck our shirts is considered being on time. That's not always the case. Although when you have an extra three to four minutes to spare before you need to clock in you're technically on time, let's put a little more effort into expanding that 'extra time'. We've all heard the saying "If you're on time, you're late". This is actually true. Try arriving to work with at least ten minutes to spare. This shows your employer that you're a preparer, especially for those of us who have early morning shifts. Once you develop a routine of being 'on time' it'll come to you like clockwork. *Complete all Tasks by Deadline: Sometimes it's hard enough to finish one thing on time, and for many we have multiple things we must accomplish in a timely manner. Learn to prioritize and organize. If you have more than one task, simply take care of the most important ones first. This tactic will help you learn to multitask. Accomplish this a few times over and your employer will look at you as being reliable, dependable and trustworthy. *Ask for Extra Work: It's always nice to have a little free time on the clock where all your assignments are complete and you've planned ahead for the next week. But, there is nothing like having an employee who knows how to stay busy. If a co-worker is having trouble with something, offer your help. Try not to just lounge around, although you may feel as if you deserve to. Even if you only have an hour left before it's time to call it a day, go talk to your boss. You never know, they may need help organizing something, planning something or just need an extra opinion on a new reform that may be beneficial to the company. Whatever you do though, STAY BUSY! *Offer Feedback: Try to get involved with some of the bigger projects being worked on so that you may voice your opinion. While it's ok to be the silent mouse sometimes, it's also a plus to let others know what you think about certain things or how you feel they should go. Everyone loves a team player. Get recognized, be enthusiastic and stand out in the crowd. *Be Versatile: Show your boss and all your co-workers that you can do just about anything. Participate in projects that involve teams but keep a balance on individual/solo projects as well. Don't just stick to the easy stuff; show someone you can tackle the simple and the hard. As long as you keep an open mind and a positive attitude, you'll surely be on your way to the top. www.ehow.com 27

*In order to be the best student in your school, you must first be optimistic about everything. In addition, you must be very disciplined and well-behaved. You must be able to balance everything. For example, you will need disciple to set certain schedules, the commitment to strive and not quit, and honor to avoid arrogance. *Second, a best student must study hard. This is the primary task of a student. To study hard and succeed. Remember, if you do not take the initiative, you will accomplish nothing. Ask questions in class if you do not understand something. In addition, make the teachers like you by enjoying the subjects they teach as well as being attentive in class. *Next, let's go over some study habits. When studying for a test, make sure that you first have all of the proper materials including books, pencils, paper, calculator, etc. Underline the words that you do not understand. In addition, try highlighting some of the themes mentioned in the book. Summarize what you have just read and take notes on each section or
chapter. Then, try to memorize everything. Come up with study questions and try to answer them. You should take a break every hour to refresh your memory and to give your brain some rest. *Remember, a best student will only achieve good grades. However, this doesn't mean that you are a failure if you have bad grades. It simply means that you will need to improve in that area. If you can, try asking your parents for tutoring. Because I have personal experience as a tutor, students who come in for tutoring tend to do better in class as well as improve their grades. *Lastly, you will be on your way in becoming the best student! Remember to never give up and make a commitment to work your best. The truth is, it's okay to fail, as long as you pick yourself up and try even harder. A lot of the famous people were all once failures. Only by persevering did they manage to climb to the top and succeed. www.ehow.com

Lira – Return to Love The new offering from Lira this year has caused much anticipation from fans. Most of us, we still not yet sure if this album will surpass the last award winning album “Soul In Mind”. Her first single from this new album titled Phakade, is causing waves on radio playlists. It's still the typical Lira who loves to play with her sweet voice on top of a well instrument production, that's what you will get from track 1 to 11. This album will take time to penetrate in our minds as we still dancing & listening to the last one. But surely, you won't get disappointed when you buy the new one. 8/10
Ciara – Basic Instinct Charging from her cover sleeve, one can assume more maturity on the new album. But to my surprise, is still the same Ciara who has released four albums with the same concept of dancing RnB. If it wasn't for all her sexy dance moves on video's, surely the name Ciara was not going to be echoed to our ears by radio dj's and club dj's. One will wonder if her first album “Goodies” was by mistake or what? But nonetheless, if you are a true fan, go & buy it for the fun of it or for the fact that Ludacris & Usher are featured on the album. 2/10
Diddy Dirty Money – Last Train To Paris This is P Diddy establishing his own group called Dirty Money which includes two ladies plagiarism of Young Money if not Cash Money. This album features Usher, Swizz Beats, Trey Songs, Lil Wayne, Drake who is doing justice to one of their singles called “Loving you no more”. Having all this artists featured in one album, definitely hits after hits are expected. I love the pop urban sound here, and also the production side. P Diddy throws his softly rapping skills not to deem that his a hardcore rapper. It's a must have for an all rounder music lover. 8/10 T YM
Book Review:
Decoded by JAY Z (autobiography)
Shawn Corey Carter, known as Jay Z, has finally dropped his biography piece which was anticipated by fans after he announced officially last year that his working on writing a book about his life as a rapper& businessman, the turbulent of life he lived, the rise to being famous etc. Little did i know that with this book, you not going to find most of the answers as one could have expected. How (in detailed) did he overcome the drug business world, how he managed to steal Beyonce's heart and so forth. But with what he has written, surely something great came up. There is this part where he goes “When I first started working on this book, I told my editor that I wanted it to do three important things. The first was to make the case that hip-hop lyrics-not just my lyrics, but those of every great MC-are poetry if you look at them closely enough. The second was I wanted the book to tell a little bit of the story of my generation, to show the context for the choices we made at a violent and chaotic crossroads in recent history. And the third piece was that I wanted the book to show how hip-hop created a way to take a very specific and powerful experience and turn it into a story that everyone in the world could feel and relate to.”. That's what you are going to get in this book. 30
Gone are the days where one has to go to a friend with a usb storage device just to collect music and other documents from another computer. Or should we say, carrying a heavy laptop on your shoulder. Gone are those days because tablet pc world has just arrived. For all those who might not know what is tablet pc. Let us simplify it for you. Tablet pc is a very small plasma screen which might be equal to an excircise book. And it might be as heavy as a 2 quire book. But this small plasma, has all the features that an ordinary computer or laptop has. You can type documents, store music & movies and also play them. Usb cord are also added and sd card slot. You can also browse internet on it, that's if you have usb modem or ADSL connection. With tablet pc, you can move with it anywhere you like & also carry it whenever because it's very light in weight. One of the first popular tablet pc to cause hype in SA was Apple iPad. Apple iPad has been a smash hit in tablet market last year, especially taking advantage from the lack of a competitive opponent in the
31
market. Samsung Galaxy Tab came very late last year as a competitor to Apple iPad. This year, the story will have a new turn. A number of enhanced Android tablets are to come out this year lifting threats to Apple iPad. The upcoming tablets which will hit the stores soon are Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, RIM PlayBook 4G by Blackberry, HTC Flayer are some of upcoming Android tablet devices to come up this year. If you think Apple iPad will feel the hit because of the upcoming tablet pc's, think again. Because by the time they launch in SA, Apple will be launching the up-graded new vision called iPad 2. Rumours from expects are that; the iPad 2 will be more faster on internet browsing, it will have high screen resolution. And more features will be added such as webcam etc. WHATS SPECIAL ABOUT IPAD 2? PRICE OF TABLET PC? HOW WILL MOTOROLA OR BLACKBERRY OUTDONE IPAD 2?
