TOGRAPHS I have created these photographs by using my photography exam booklet and bending and twsiting it in to differet shapes against a black or white background. I think that it was effective to use my photography exam booklet because it was personal and links with the theme that i am beginning to study- truth, fantasy or fiction. i also think thatit is effective because it allows you to see the words which are printed on the document and sometimes they are in focus so you are able to read them, and sometimes they are just part of the background and not the main focus of the image. i think it was a good technique to use something as simple as paper and card to create these photographs, this is because it is so easy to shape and bend that you are able to get a variety of different shapes out of them, and when photographed they can all look completely different from eachother. i have used a number of different lighting sources when taking these photographs which included over light, the lights being turned off, light from the sun and a torch up close to the work which allowed me to capture shadows in my work. i took these photographs from a number of differnet angles which allowed a number of different perspectives. these included from eye level, from the side, from above and from below. i think that taking photographs from all differnet angles creates a good effect because it allows the focul point to change .

I have experimented here graph twice and mirroring all of the same image. I to do this technique on th setting up this compositi ment on a reflective surfa

BLACK & W H I T E I used a white background and cut strips of black and white coloured card, i then bent and shaped them and took photographs from different angles allowing you to see shadows.

These photographs show a number of different techniques that i have experiemented with. these include folding my exam booklets a number of different ways and taking photographs from different angles, this was able to show different shadows in the folds. Cutting a page up into different strips and folding them around eachother and taping them into place. I did a number of those different photographs and took my photos from different agnles, i think that this was effective because you can see different aspects of the photo that are in focus and you can see the different shapes from the different angles the photos have been taken at. I have then gone on to using black and white card and using either a black background or a white background . i cut up the card into diferent strips and have bent and shaped them so they are overlapping eachother and creating some inetresting effective shapes.

I have decided to put all of these photographs in black and white as i think that it maks the photos look much more effective. As i was working with black and white objects in the first place (paper, background and card), changing these photographs into black and white enphasises this well. i also then experimented with the contrast and clarity of these photos and found when you changed the clarity to a higher number it made the photographs much sharper, and you could see the edges andthe textures of the photos really well. i did this using camera raw and photoshop. In photographs that I have shown above for the background i used a shiny reflective surface to place my shapes on. i think that this is effective because it allowed me to take photographs were the shape i had created was doubled because you can see the reflection in the surface. i think this links well with the theme of fantasy because this is changing what you think you are looking at because its making you think there are two, when really there is only one.

ILLUSIONS

I have completed here a number of different illusions, I have cut up black card and then used a white background, i made shapes and then cut them in half and stuck them in differnt places and photographed them so that they looked like they were joining. I then moved on to cutting up and sticking a variety of different shapes and photographing through holes in the shapes and taking the photos from different angles - from above, from below, from the side and through different holes in the shapes. This work links in well with an artist who i have began to research - geroge rousse and he is who i took inspiration from when i started this shoot. I have placed the shapes in a certain way so that your perspective is tricked into thinking that the shape is whole when in relaity it has been cut in half and has been stuck in different places . I think that this was an effective technique to experiment with because it is making you think that you are looking at a whole shape when you arent, it is all about perspective and i think it makes the work and photograph look very interesting.

Photo shoot ideas The main idea behind this photoshoot was to use the exam paper that we had been giv torted and different. In this photoshoot I folded up the paper in to a number of differe some of the photographs up close and some from further away. I think that this was eff photographed at. For some photographs that I took I folded the paper over a number of paper up so different parts of it were going in a number of different directions.

I took fective to do because each image was made to look different from the angle that it was f different times and photographed the folds, in other photographs I actually cut the

A N

PAUL GRAHAM

For my starting point i have started to look at a number of different artists that relate to my theme. I began by researching the work of paul graham. His work is all about documentating the truth and real situations. In his photographs i can see that he has photographed a number of different people that are doing normal activities, wearing normal clothes and are in normal environments. in these photographs they mainly focus on just one person but out of the frame you cannot see the actual situation that these photographs are going on in. I think that the best area that descirbes these photographs that this artist has chosen is contexual. this is because his work is historical and about documenting what is going on at that certain point in time, when i look at these photographs i feel i can relate to them because they are taken in such normal everyday places, and i feel interested as to the story behind them. In these photographs i think that Paul is trying to communicate what is going on at that particular moment in time and enphasise that point in history. I think that his work could be about society and nature. i think his work could be about society because of the environments that he has decided to photograph in and also who he has decided to photograph.

He has photographed a number of different people who are all very different, of different ages and gender and ethnicity. i think this is why he may be exploring the idea of soceity. I also think that another of his ideas that he explored was nature. this is because all of his photographs have been taken outside in different environments, in busy areas, at a bus stop, on a pavement etc. I do not believe that this artist has set up his photoshoots, this is because they look very natural and look like situations that would happen all the time. Lighting has not really effected the photographs much because the majority of them look like they have been taken outside, this shows that the main source of light in most of them would be coming from the sun. in some of the you can see shadows that have been formed which creates a good effect. I think that these photographs are veru effective at documenting real situations, which is what the photographers ideas were behind this images. they are very real images and do not look like they have been set up for the camera atall. i dont think that these images vary much from real life as the main point of this is to document real life situations, this idea really interests me, it links in wellwith my theme and i would like to explore it in more depth.

Literal Visual Say what you see and what you dont see

In this photograph taken by paul graham i am able to see a number of different things; people standng in the foreground leaning against a pole and some more in the background looking around in the distance. in the foreground i am also able to see a newspaper and a sign that has an amount of money on, in the

ground

back-

i can see a shop and a van that are slightly blurry and i am also able to see traffic lights. What i dont think i would be able

image

is what to see in the the people are looking at that are turning around- if they have seen someone or something. other cars in the background that are waiting for the traffic lights. the rest of the sign and what the other prices are and what these prices are for.

Conceptual SymbolicWhat does the photo content represent? I think that the people and the build-

photograph

ings in this represent the truth, and they are

documenting

real life true events that take place everyday. this photograph could be representing what people do on an everyday basis, how they are feeling which is shown in their expressions and what they would

wear

on a normal day.

T e c h n i c a l - T e c h n i c a l How was it made? I think that this photograph was

made by the photographer using a number of different models and just getting them to stand and do their everyday normal activities. he then took a photograph of this and also a number of other people and other environments, which is all

documenting

the about truth and everyday events and activities. I think that Paul grahams work is a variety of asking people to pose and stand in a specific way and look in a certain direction, and then others of his photographs has been taken when no-one is

aware and is of a group of people walking etc. and other photographs he has taken is of buildings and he has not done anything to change

how that building looks, he has documented it exactly how it is.

Contextual

CulturalWhen was the photo made and how does it link to you in the 21st century? This photograph was taken in 2007 so it was taken in the 21st century. I can relate to this photograph because i myself have been in situations like this, i have crossed the road to talk to someone- i have

and

the

SIMON NORFOLK

In these photographs i can see that the artist simon norfolk has begun to document real life situations and has taken photos of buildings that are really in these certain environments and in some of the photographs only certain aspects of the images have been set up. if i was to choose a set of words to decribe these photographs that i would choose interesting, destroyed, messy and disaster. i would choose these words because that is what comes to my mind when i am looking at these photograps. Something has happened that has caused a disaster to occur so that a building has either fallen down, eroded away or something else has happened to it. If i was going to describe these photographs to someone who had never seen them before they i would get them to imagine in their mind

a building that had fallen or been knocked down and how it would look 5-10 years later. I chose to look at the work of simon norflok because i think that it links in well with the truth side of my theme. this is because his work is all about documenting real life situations and what is going on in the world, and it is all the truth. If i was iniside of these photographs I think that i would feel lonely and confused. this is because the places and buildings that simon norfolk has decided to photograph look like very isolated places.i think i would also feel confused because of the buildingsw that are in the photographs, they have been ruined and are falling to pieces and i would wonder why that is going on and what happened to them in order for them to end up like this.

I think that all of these photographs are effective because they are meeting there purpos which is to document real life events. Simon norflok has gone to a number of different places and has photographed a number of different buildings, and he hasnt changed them to fit how he wants them to lookhe has photographed them as they are.I think that Norfolks work is very symbolic because it is representing the environment and human nature and has happened to cause these environments to look this way.

Literal

Visual Say what you see and what you dont see In this photograph I am able to see

what looks like a desert and a mountain in the background, everywhere looks empty and like there are not many people around or much to do around. i am also able to see a colourful arch and there aere flags either side- this could represent

country.

something in that What i think i am not able to see in the person who is in the bottom right hand side of the image, i cannot tell if that is a man or a women, what they are doing or if they are with

anyone.

i am only able to see one way through the arch so i cannot see what is going on in the other direction, if it completely the same or if there are buildings and people.

Symbolic-

Conceptual What does the photo content represent? Simon Norfolks work is all about doc-

umeting the truth, what is going on in the world and showing people real life situtions. i think that norfolks work is all about

doc-

umenting tradegy and the af-

termath of villages and cities if something has happened to them. i

think that this photograph representes this well because by looking at it i think that somethng could have been there before, because of the colourful arch. but maybe something to this town/village and now there is nothing left or

no-one

left.

T e c h n i c a l - T e c h n i c a l How was it made? This photograph was made by simon norfolk taking a photograph of this

environment.

he has not done anything to munipultae or change this photo because his work is all about documenting the truth, and real life situatuations. you can tell that he has not set anything up in his work

focusing

because it is not on any people so he cant have asked them to pose and stand in a particular way. but his image is focusing on the colourful arch and the mountains behind which would have already been there before he arrived to take the photograph. simon norfolk sticks well to the idea behind

his photography because he has documented the truth and has done nothing to change it in any way.

Cultural-C o n t e x t u a l When was the photo made and how does it link to you in the 21st century These photographs were taken in the

21st

century and they are documeting real life events that have happened in the past and events that are happening at the moment. he has

taken photographs of the after math of tradegies and what it does to communities and buildings, and in other examples of his work there are people inolved in them and how they

are living after the tradegy has hit them. i think in general people can relate to his photographs because at one point in their lifes they are likely to go through a tradegy, and they are happening all over the world effecting alot of people.

john chervinsky

I think that other people would be interested in John’s work as it would also change their perspective and how they would be looking at the photograph. I think that it would be interesting to experiment with making something like his work and playing around with the idea of changing perspective. I could set up a still life of my own and choose objects that are personal to me, i could then paint or draw sections of the still life and place it back so that it looks like actual parts of the still life. This would link in really well with my theme of truth and fantasy, this is because it would be abit of both. It is the truth because it is simply photographing a still life, but then fantasy is involved because it is using a painting in the still life but making you think that it is just another object. I would like to experiment with this work and try out some of my own.

If i was to use words to describe this work then i would choose; interesting, colourful. exciting and confusing. I would choose these words because I think that they are accurate representations of what is being shown in the pieces as they are colourful and exciting. I chose to use the word confusing to describe these because the work is slightly confusing because of the combination of the actual still life and the photographs.

I have begun to look at the artist john chervinsky, i think that his work links in really well with the theme of truth, fantasy or foction. this is because his work is tricking you into thinking its something that it is not, he has taken a photograph of something and has then painted some of the photographs, he has then placed the paintings back over the top of the still life and has placed it so that it looks like it is actually part of it, which is changing your perspective. I think that his work is very interesting, I think that it gives off a happy and exciting mood because of the bright colours that have been used and also because of the change in perspective- you have to take a double look to make sure you are sure of what you are seeing, which i think is very interesting. I think the most interesting piece of this artwork is how different techniques and textures have been used in them, photographing an actual still life set up and paintings is effective because it is a number of different sources. I also like how all of these still lifes have been set up and the lighting that is on them because it is so bright, i think that it is enphasising the white and the colour very well. If i was to ask this artist a question it would be the reason behind the objects that he chose to use for his still life, this is because it is a varity of different coloured objects that can all be used for a different purpose which i think was effective because a variety was shown- but i would like to know why he chose these and the meaning behind them, to give me more of an idea and understanding about his work.

Literal

Visual Say what you see and what you dont see In this photograph i can see a still life that has been set up. there is a table with a red cloth over the top,

a picture frame that is leaning on the top, a ball and a red piece of string that looks like it is holding the ball up. what i cannot see in this image is what is going on behind the still life, if there are any other objects or people. because

photogrph

this is all about perspective i am not able to see the paints that have been used on part of these photographs.i am also not able to see if there is anything else going on either side of the

still

life.

Symbolic-

Conceptual What does the photo content represent? John chervinksys work is all about representing perspective and how people look at his photographs. it is representing this because it is tricking your perspective into thinking

graph

that

this

photo-

has been taken all of a

still life. when in reality part of this picture has been painted and has then been placed back into the still life and photographed.

T e c h n i c a l - T e c h n i c a l How was it made? This photograph was made by frist setting up a still life and taking

a photograph of it. The artist then painted a section of the photograph and placed it back in the still

life so it looked like it was exactly part of the still life. the photographer would have then photographed the still life again with the painting as part of the still life,

perspective

making your differ because you are having to work out if it is all still life or if

pho-

some parts have been painted/

tographed

and put back in.

-Contextual

Cultural When was the photo made and how does it link to you in the 21st century?

John chervinksys work was produced in the 21st century and has a strong link to modern day. this is because he is using a

nique

tech-

which is perspective which probably wouldnt have been used many years ago. also by the

objects

that he has chosen

to use in his still life

pieces.

George Rousse

I am interested in George rousse’s work because of the way that he has made your perspective change when you are looking at his work. I also like how he has chosen dull places to base his work in and they are not that exciting, but once he has added all of the bright colourful colours it makes it look so much more interesting. if i was to describe his work to someone who wasnt be able to see it i would use the following words; colourful, exciting, creative, bright, out of the ordinary and interesting. george rousse’s work links in very well with the theme that i am beginning to study, which is truth, fantasy and fiction. it links in well with this theme because his work is all about fantasy- when you look at it you think colourful shapes have been digitally edited onto the photo but really he has actually gone to the location in the image and has painted the room to make it look like it is a perfect circle or square. when you watch the videos of how he has done this you can see the truth of what the space actually looks like, but when you look at the final photograph he has taken you see the fantasy behind the piece. i like the use of all of the different environments in rousse’s work how some of them are in big open rooms and some are outside. i think that this is effective because it shows a different range of places and it also has a different range of light sources- outside would be the sun, and inside would be an overhead light.

Literal

Visual Say what you see and what you dont see In this photograph i am able to see a building which has a set of stairs to the left, i can then also see a blue square which looks like it has been photoshopped onto the top of

the image once the image has been uploaded onto the computer. what i am not able to see is that the room itself has actually been painted and photographed from this exact angle to

perspective.

trick your if i was in that room and i was to move slightly to the right or the

left then it would look completely different, but from this photograph i am not able to see that.

SymbolicWhat does

the

Conceptual photo con-

represent?

tent This photograph is all about representng perspective and how it can change when you look at something from a different angle. from

the angle that the photograph has been taken at i can see a diagonal square and it looks to me perfect. but as this photo is representing perspective if i was to move from where i was standing in the room then i would no longer be able to see the square, i would see

thing

completely

Tec How this ist they then have

hnical-T e c h n i c a l was it made? photograph was made by the artchoosing an environmet where wanted it to be located and painting that room. he would painted parts of the room that

foreground

are more in the and some that are in the background. this is a change of perspective so when he would have taken the photograph from this exact angle the shape would have made a diagonal

square. but if you were to look at it from any other direction then you would not have been able to see the shape of square, just many differnt parts of the room

painted.

the work that was by george rousse was taken in the 21st century, making a really strong link for the modern world. i think that it

If i was to live inside of this photograph then i would describe it as a tall building, something simple, something you see everyday. i think that would be an accurate describe because here i have photographed a building that i passed when i was out for the day, documenting the truth of what i saw on my trip, this links in extremely well with the work of paul graham as he is all about documenting the truth. I think that the best area that describes these interpretations that i have done of paul grahams work is contextual, this is because the photographs have a link to history as they are documenting the truth of what is going on. i think that it links most to that area because paul grahams work is documenting the truth about what is going on in the world at that certanin point in time and if there are any national or global events occuring. I think that the photographs that i have taken compare well with the original stimulus. this is because paul grahams work is of buildings and crowds and they have not been manipulated or set up in any way. my work links to this well because i have also taken pictures of buildings and crowds that i have seen, i did not ask anyone to pose for the photograph or change anything about the way it looked, i simply took the photograph of the building or crowd exactly how it was. i think that by choosing the photographer paul graham to research it has given me a good starting point for this theme as i have chosen to look at truth vs fantasy and i can use paul grahams work as my link to the truth. if i was to ask the photographer any questions i think it would be ‘were there any big events going on at the time you were taking this set of photos?’ i would ask this question because i think that it would give me more of an understanding of what was going on so i would be able to understand the images more and then be able to create some good responses for the artists work.

I have taken a number of different photographs here interpretating the artist paul graham. i decided to choose paul graham because i think that his work links in really well with my theme which is truth vs fantasy. this is because his work is all about documentating the truth and taking photographs of every day environments, crowds of people and buildings. i have done this in brighton and have taken a number of different images of buildings and of crowds of people. this is linking well with the theme because it is documenting the truth of what people do- for example walking, sitting outside a cafe and going for a walk etc. i have photographed some buildings which look very colourful which i think portrays the environment well- which links in with the artists work as he is all about documenting the truth. i think that by photographing buildings and crowds of people is good because it is so much like the truth- here i took photographs of buildings people pass everyday and people doing their activities on an everyday basis. if i was to use a number of different words to desribe these photographs then i would choose- colourful, exciting, simple, interesting yet boring. i would choose this variety of words because i think some of these photographs are interesting as they are capturing reflections and parts of buildings and some of them are very colourful. whereas someone are simply of crowds and a simple building which is less interesting and more boring because it is not captuing much. however this thinks in well because it is literally documenting the truth of life and the buildings that people pass all the time and people undergoing their normal routine.

I think that these photographs that i have taken have some form of a link with the photographers work ‘paul graham’. this is because he has photographed people in a normal everyday environment just doing there own thing. i have set up this photoshoot but in some of the photographs i do not think that it looks too staged as the models are not looking at the camera they are looking in a different direction and are just standing, doing there everyday thing. i have also taken some images of just the building alone and i think this links in with paul grahams work again as he has done this alot in his photography.

The theme that i have begun to look at is truth vs fantasy. i have then gone into to that as what the truth is about normal people and how they live, and the fantasy of what a normal person wants to be. for example in these images i have photographed a regular girl and a regular boy in a environment that isnt very nice- portraying that they dont have a lot of money, you can also tell that from the clothes that they are wearing.these photographs portray the truth about alot of people and how they live, what they were and showing that they do not have alot of money and live in places like this- i have enphasised this in the photographs so you can really tell what they are about.

I think that these photographs that I have taken of just the building alone link in well with the work of simon norfolk that i have begun to research. this is because his work is all about documenting the truth and he has taken photographs of buildings that are decaying and are falling down. These photographs are also going onto link with one half of my theme which is truth, but they are again enphasising it alot so you can really tell what it is about. I have edited some of the photographs in colour and i think that this was effective because of the graffiti that was in the building, and editing them in colour has really hightend the contrast so it all really stands out well. i decided to photograph the building alone and people posing in the building in different places and in different ways. i did this because this work is all about truth and it shows the truth of what the building is like and how it is messy and falling down, and then it also shows the truth of how people live. for example in a house like the one i have photographed, showing that they dont have much money (emphasising the truth about alot of people today.I have decided to do the theme truth vs fantasy because i think looking at the contrast will be really interesting. i will show a variety of different photographs were some will be taken showing the truth, and others will be fantasy so what people wish they could look like or live like. i think it would be intersting to see the comparison and i will emphasie both the truth and fantasy so you can really tell what they are all about. i want to go on to look at the truth in more detail and focus on a single person and what the truth about their life is, and then also fantasy.

IRVING PENN

I think the variety of people that Irving Penn has decided to choose is very interesting because he has chosen such a wide range. He has chosen people that look completely different from eachother, both women and black, and people of all ages. I think that this was a really good idea from him because all of these photographs have a different mood and many of them look different from eachother, even though they are all portraits and are all in black and white. You can see makeup enphasised in some, and peoples skin textures in others.

I have now decided to research and look into the work of Irving Penn. I have decided upon this because although I still want to be sticking onto the theme of truth, I want to incoporate people into my photoshoots and start setting up shoots. The other artists that I have looked at are more about environment and object photography so they would not have a very strong link to the photoshoots that I have in mind that I want to move towards. I like how all of Penn’s photographs are in black and white as I think that they all look very sharp and you can really see all of the textures in the photographs (the skin and the hair). By looking at his work I have felt influenced to use Black and White in my work for this reason.

TRUTH

F4.5 ISO- 320 1 / 6 0

I have done a re-shoot here based on my initial photoshoot which was truth vs fantasy. I have decided to use these two themes as I think that it looks very interesting comparing them with one another so you are able to see the differences and similarities. For the truth side of my shoot I decided to use two female models and dress them in the same outfit (a simple black dress), I then set up a white studio to shoot in. I decided to use this background because I wanted the focus to be on the models and there faces, and I didnt want anything surrounding them to attract the attention away from this. In this half of the photoshoot I instructed my models to not be wearing any makeup, and I got them to have there hair down and not do anything with it. I did this because this whole side of the photoshoot was based on truth- you can see that neither of the models are wearing makeup so this shows the truth about them. They have not used any cover up to change how they look atall, these images are capturing exactly how they look. I have edited all of these photographs using camera raw but I did not want to edit them in a very strong way because of the theme that these photographs were taken in. I have edited some of these photographs into Black&White which I think has a good link to the work of Irving Penn that I have previously looked at. I think this because when you edit a photograph into black and white it makes it look much more sharper and you are really able to see the texture of the hair and the skin. I think that editing some of my photographs like this was effective because I want the viewer to be able to focus on the models hair and skin and see that they are wearing no makeup and nothing has been done to there hair, so it really links in with the theme of truth which is what I was going for.I think that the mood and atmosphere that you get from these photographs is simplicity and quite a peaceful feeling . I think this way because there is not much going on in the image, the photographs have not been manipulated and the models are dressed and made to look very simple, and are in a very set up simple environment.

These photographs have been set up in a studio and have been stylised to the way that I want them to look so that it portrays my theme and ideas really well. The theme behind this photoshoot was Truth VS Fantasy amd this is the truth side of my photoshoot. When taking these photographs I experimented with using a number of different angles which included close up portraits of the models, from further away, from the side, from above and from below. I think that it was very effective to use such a wide variety of different angles when taking my photographs because it shows a number of different techniques and makes each photograph look different in its on way which I think is a very effective idea and trait.I think that because this photographs look quite simple and basic when other people look at them they would want to know the meaning behind the photographs- they would want to ask why these photographs link to the theme Truth and how they have a personal link to myself. I think that the best area that describes this group of photographs is literal.- this is because I think the main questions that can be answered include, Describe what you see in the photograph and what you don’t see (what is just out of frame). What I can see in these photographs include two models which are wearing the same outfit and are posing in an all white set up studio. What I cannot see that is out of the frame is the background that the white studio has been set up in, if any other people are in the room or if any other objects are in the room which are just slightly out of the frame. What is the subject matter?- The subject matter of this photograph is the people that are in the frame and that is what I am focusing upon and how they are portraing the theme and the ideas that I am focusing on. What is the content of the photograph- what is literally in these photographs is two models who are wearing the same outfit, and a white studio- no props are being used in this half of the shoot.

I have expeirmented with a number of different lighting sources when I was undertaking this shoot which I think you are really able to see in these photographs, and it has made a really good impact on the shoot. The lighting sources that I used when undertaking this shoot was set up in an all white environment which was inside. Sometimes I used the light from the sun which was coming through the windows which was able to create shadows on the background which I thought made the images look much more interesting and added something to them that wasnt there before. I also experimented with using different settings on the camera and using some images with flash, some images without flash, some with an overhead lamp and some with a light that was closer to the face. I think that all of these tecchniques were able to create a really good effect in all of the photographs, and some of them look very different from one another becuse of this effect. I think that the best photographs from this shoot were the ones that were taken in the all white environment, when I was changing the angles of how I was taking the images (portrait, landscape, etc) I would change the way the flash was pointing that I had attached to the top of my camera, I made sure that the flash was pointing in the correct direction so that it lit up and enphasised the correct part of the photograph that I wanted it to. I think that this half of the photoshoot especially really show how my ideas have progressed throughout the course of this theme. This is because I have been mainly focusing on the theme truth (also fantasy, but mainly truth when I have been researching artists). In my original shoot you can see the truth of how someone lives and it has been really enphasised to show they have no home and no money. My ideas have then progressed when I have started to look at the truth in a more specific and personal way. I began to think what the truth and fantasy would be for a girl at my age 17-18 years old living where I live would be like. The sterotypical fantasy is to be skinny, and pretty, have alot of clothes and money. Alot of girls at my age use makeup to cover up their insecurities and in this shoot I really wanted to show that because it is something that I am able to link to personally.

My idea to begin looking at this theme stemmed from looking at a variety of different artists which included Paul Graham and Simon Norfolk. There work was all about documenting the truth and documenting real life situations, I have interpreted this slightly and took ideas from this to create my own work. I liked the idea of documenting the truth but I am more interested in the side of photography were you are setting up a studio and are using models in your work. Therefore I began to think how I could portray both the truth and fantasy in a shoot that is connected and links well together. The truth side of this photoshoot is documenting what people actually look like without makeup on and when they are not trying to impress anyone they just look exactly themselves. The fantasy side of this photoshoot is then documenting the idea of what people wish to look like when they are wearing makeup and have done there hair, and what they have been told they should look like e.g skinny. I am then planning on progressing my idea into linking these two themes together and doing a photoshoot where both of these themes are combined into one photo. I think that this would be really effective because it shows that I have stuck with the same idea throughout but it has progressed and I have made changes and made risks with my work to see which looks best. I decided to edit these photographs using camera raw like I do for the majority of my photographs but this time I altered the white balance and I changed it to Auto so that I was able to make the image look how I wanted. I edited these photographs so that all of the colours were really enphasised, this included the barbies, their skin, the makeup brushes and the colours of the lipsricks that they were holding. I think that it was really effective to have such bright colours showing in this photoshoot because it was such a contrast to the first side of the shoot which was truth. In this side of the shoot I hardly edited by photographs and when I did I only made them slightly clearer or enhanced the brightness slightly. But you are able to see the contrast here and how it has changed in the way that I have edited my photographs- and I think that both editing styles link in well with both of their themes.

FISO1 /

This is the fantasy side of my photoshoot- I have decided to use the same two models who I used in the truth side of the photoshoot so you are able to see the link between the two shoots. But this time I have used a variety of different props and have got the models to do there hair in a nice way and to wear makeup so you are able to see that this side of the photoshoot is the fantasy side. I have used props such as a tape measure to show that the fantasy of a teenage girl is to be skinny, which is the sterotypical view of how someone would want to look if they had the choice. I have also used lipstick to show that the models are wearing makeup in this side of the shoot- this also links with fantasy because the models are wearing makeup and are wanting to cover up there faces so that they look pretty and perfect. I have then also used the prop of a barbie and I have taken photographs of the barbie with the models and then images of the barbie by itself. I think that this was effective to do so and this was a very useful prop to use because of the sterotypical view that a barbie is perfect and that is what everyone wants to look like. I think that this photoshoot is very personal to myself because it is all about truth and fantasy, the truth of how a 17-18 year old girl looks without makeup , without their hair done ad what there true self actually is. The fantasy side then shows what these girls actually want to look like and I have been able to show this in my images by using a number of different props including- lipstick, makeup brushes a tape measure and barbies which all have their own purpose for being a part of this shoot. I again experimented with a number of different lighting sources when I took these photographs which I think you are able to see in the variety of different photographs that I have captured. The different lighting sources that I used including lighting from the sun when I had the curtains open in the studio, I think that this was really effective because it created shadows on the model and because of the white background you are able to see these shadows really clear and crisp. I plan on doing a re-shoot which will link in with my inital ideas and with this photoshoot , if those photographs turn out well then I may use them for my final piece. All throughout this theme I have been looking at Truth vs Fantasy, and for the shoot that I plan on doing next I am going to combine those two themes into one. I think that this will look really effective because you will be able to see both truth and fantasy in these images and will have to think which is which and how they link together to make one photograph.I think that the best area that can describe these photographs is symbolic, this is because they can link in with me and who I am as a person really well. This is becaue in my theme I have decided to show the truth and the fantasy aspect of someone and how a sterotypical girl of my age would wish to look if she had the choice- this including being skinny, pretty and looking like a barbie. I am able to relate to this because I can say that that is how I would like to look if I got the chance and this is what society is showing that every girl at the age of 18 should look like- they are expected to look pretty and perfect all of the time when in reality they do not. I think that by doing this photoshoot it is able to make connections to work that I have previously done - the photoshoot about the truth and how people really live . They have a good connection because I have gone on to progress my ideas by making it more symbolic and more personal to myself. The ideas that I am trying to communicate in this whole photoshoot is the theme of Truth vs Fantasy, I think that I have shown this really well because of the props that I have used in my shoot and how I have decided to photograph them with the models, and some by themselves.

Truth vs Fantasy

I have experimented with working in both colour and in Black&White, I think that it was effective to have some of my images in black and white because it shows a strong link to the artist that I looked at briefly- Irving Penn. He completed a photoshoot where he took photographs of a number of different people who all look completely different from eachother, of different ages and both genders. He edited all of these photographs into black and white which I think looked very effective because it made them look much more sharper and the contrast was made a lot higher- meaning that they stood out really well. I plan on using Black and white photographs more in my work as I could on through this studying this theme, I feel this way because I have come across some other artists that are very interesting to me and who work alot in black and white- Maria Aparicio and Lee Friedlander. I think that it would be interesting and effective for me to do a whole photoshoot of mine in Black and White because I have never done that before, I have experimented with changing some certain photographs into black and white but not a whole photoshoot. This will show that my ideas are developing and I am trying new things and taking risks. On previous pages I have used a variety of different words and have put them in a larger font, I like the idea of using text over photographs and believe it to be very effective. I think that this could be a possible idea for my final piece as I think that the text would help to explain the final piece photograph and would have a very strong link and is an excellent technique that can be used in photography.

I have completed here a number of possible ideas that I could use for my Final Piece- this includes a picture within a picture, colour and gradient overlay, adding coloured shapes onto a black and white image, repition and rotation. I think that it was very effective to produce such a wide range of possible ideas because this will allow me to experiment with a number of different ideas and I could possibly use that edit or technique for my final piece. Alot of these techniques I have not used much before- for example adding coloured shapes onto something black and white, because I have no used them before I think that it could be a really good technique to use as a possible idea because it will show that my ides have progressed from me researching into this theme and it will also show that I am taking risks with my work. I think that my favourite edit that I have produced is the gradient overlay, I have no used this much in my work before so I think that it could be interesting and exciting to use. I think that it looks good because if you are to use an image which is in black and white you are then able to change the blending modes so that the colour only appears in certain areas. I completed tehe majority of these possible ideas using photoshop- when I was doing colour and gradient overlay I would pick the colour or the overlay that I wanted, I would then change the opacitiy so you were able to see the image underneath clearer and I would then decide on the blending mode that I wanted to use and which I thought looked best. Another one of my favourtie possible ideas that I have completed is repetion- I think that this is very interesting because you would be able to do it both manually and digitally. It also links in really well with the theme of Fantasy which I have been looking at because it is not real it is changing your perspective while you are looking at it to make you think that the photograph has been manipulated in someway which it has. I am going to consider using all of these techniques and test them out more so I can decide which I think looks most effective and why.

Maria Aparicio

I plan on using this technique on some of my images that I have taken which are based on a number of different aspects. I think that this would be very effective because it would have an excellent link to the theme of Truth vs Fantasy which I am studying. I have also been lookimg at a number of different artists who work in Black&White and for my next shoot I plan on doing all of my photographs in B&W, I think it will then be effective to have this brightly coloured thread digitally added on and manually added on to see which looks best and which is most effective. I am going to test out this technique on a number of different photographs that I have already taken to experiment with the idea, see if it looks effective and I may then potentially use this technique for my final piece. I like the use of movement that Maria Aparicio has used in her shoot because I think it makes the pieces look much more interesting and it also links in really with the technique she has decided to use over the top.

I have decided to research here into the artist Maria Aparicio because I really like the techniques and the edits that she has used on her photography. I think that it looks very intersting and makes a boring picture look much more exciting. I would like to experiment with this work testing it out both manually and digitally to see what would look best, and to experiment with different possible ideas for my final piece. I think that this technique would link in well with the theme that I have been studying which is Truth vs Fantasy, I think this because once I have taken the photographs for my shoot I will use this edit to show the fantasy side of the photo. This is because this artist Maria has used this technique to show objects joining together and to show what she would want to change about the image- so she has used thread to add something and to change the image. I think that this would be an excellent link to the theme of Truth vs Fantasy because I will be able to use this thread to show how something is changing, how the model wishes they could look or live, or what I would change about the photograph. If I was going to have to describe this photograph to someone else then I would say that alot of movement has been captured in this photographs and different parts of the body has been captured and these photographs have then been edited into Black&White, the artist has then manually edited over these images and has sewn onto these images with brightly coloured thread which has made the images look much more interesting and exciting.

Lee Friedlander

Lee Friedlander is an American photographer and artist- I decided to start looking at his work because I thought it was different from all of the others that I have previously looked at which would show a good change. I also think that his work would be able to link in really strong with the theme that I am looking at ‘Truth vs Fantasy’. From looking at Lee’s work I have got inspiration to take photographs of a single model looking into shop windows, and gazing out of shop windows. I think this idea would look really strong with my theme because it would all be about someone looking into a shop window dreaming about what they would wish to buy and what they wish to be like, what they want is so close to them but they just wouldnt be able to reach it. I plan on doing a photoshoot inspired by the work of Lee and I think it would also have a good link to the photoshoots that I have done previously. Truth vs Fantasy, the truth of someone without makeup on and then how they look when they are wearing it. The truth of how most people actually live (poor) and then what they wish to be like (rich). This photoshoot would be combining the two ideas into one and photographing them together so you can see the contrast of the two. The work that I am looking at of Lee’s is all about the chaos of city life, and you are able to see in these photographs that there is some much going on because of all of the buildings and people that are in these images. I also think the use of reflections and shadows in Lee’s work is very effective, this is because it shows a very good skill of taking a photograph and shows that he has really thought and set up about his idea.I think that by doing a photoshoot which is based around the ideas of this artist will show that I am able to take a number of different photographs and use a number of different techniques. I think this would be an effective shoot to undertake because I have done nothing like it before so it would be very different from all of my previous work which will show that I can take risks with my work. I like how Lee has taken all of his photographs in Black&White and I plan on doing the same in my work. I think that this is a very effective yet simple technique and it makes the clarity of this photographs alot stronger and alot sharper so you are really able to see all of the textures and every single edge really well. If I was having to explain Lee’s work to someone who has never seen it before then I would get them to picture in their head a shopping highstreet that they have been to many times before, I would get them to image that they are looking into the window and someone has snapped a picture of them, capturing their reflection in the shop window. I would also describe his work to other people by telling them to imagine they are inside a shop and they see a friend walk past the window, they quickly move to see who it was an someone snaps a picture of them- this time capturing the reflection of what is outside of the shop. If I was to ask the artist one question then it would be what his ideas and thoughts were behind these photographs as I would like to see if they compare to mine in any way atall.

Maria

Aparicio

I have decided to do some Digital edits that are based around the work of Maria Aparico. I decided to do this because I feel very influence by her work and think that her work has a really strong link to the theme that I am looking at, which is Truth vs Fantasy. This is because she has added coloured lines onto her work to represent something connecting, and what she would want to change about the image. This links in nicely with the theme that I am looking at which is fantasy, because the shoot is all about how someone wants to be and how they want to look like and what they want to change about themselves- so the lines and the colour can portray this well. I also edited all of my images into black and white as this is what the photographer did, I also think that it looked very effective working on black and white and then experimenting with using different colours over the photographs. I also plan on doing this edit to more of the photoshoots that I do in the future, and also experimenting with doing it manually and actually sewing onto the photographs to see the effect of that and which looks better.

Inspired

Digital Edits

Manual Edits

I am now experimenting with doing manual edits where I have actually sewn on to a number of photographs that I have taken. I think that this is very effective because it adds alot more to the photograph when it has been printed out and I also think that it would be a really good tecnique to use for my final piece. I have used thin thread to sew over the black and white images in a bright pink colour, I think that it was effective to choose such a bright colour when working with black and white images because it stands out really well. If I am going to use this technique on my final piece then I will experiment with it in more depths and complete some more, I will also try using thicker thread as I think that could look better on a larger scale image and it could also stand out very well. These edits that I have been working on are inspired by the artist Maria Aparicio I find her work very interesting to look at and I think that it could have a really strong link to the theme that I have been looking at- truth vs fantasy. For the next photoshoot that I am going to do, which I will use for my final piece I am going to combine the two themes into one photoshoot. Using this thread will then be able to show the change and differences between the two themes and will be able to portray this really well.

INSPIRED BY LEE FRIEDLANDER

I have completed another photoshoot here which is sort of a re-shoot from my previous photoshoots, and is linking in with the work of Lee Friedlander. I have taken inspiration from this artist because I think that his work is extremley interesting to look at and I have never done work like that before. His work is all about reflections and capturing what you see in a shop window- be it a moving car, a tree, a persons reflection or a building. I think his work is very interesting and has a really good link in with the theme that I have been looking at which is Truth vs Fantasy. In my previous shoots I have focused on the themes seperately and have shown the different between the truth and fantasy, what the truth is about how someone lives or how someones looks, and then how they wish that they could look or live. But here I have decided to combine these two themes into one photoshoot, I think that this is effective because there is more thinking and depth behind each photograph. This photoshoot is all about a model looking into a shop window and a reflection forming. The model is either able to see themsleves clearly which shows the truth about them as a person or they are able to see inside the shop window- and items that they are longing to have but they just cannot- which is the fantasy side of the photoshoot. I have used a variety of shop windows were the majority of what you are able to see is the models reflection in the shop window, and then some windows which have a nice window display and which link in really well with the fantasy side. I decided to edit all of the photographs taken here into Black&White, I think that this was very effective because I have never done an entire shoot in black and white before so it shows that my ideas are developing and changing. Also it links in really well with the artist Lee Friedlander who I took inspiration from, and also Maria Aparico. She edited all of her photographs into black and white and then used colourful manual edits over the top- that is what I plan to do with my photoshoot. I believe that this photoshoot is clearly showing the progression of my ideas through the theme that I have been looking at. The idea behind my work has developed alot and I think that this set of photographs really has a true meaning behind them all. The problems that I faced when undergoing this photoshoot was that the weather was not too good- meaning that my source of light wasnt good because all of these images were taken outside. This factor had an impact on my photographs because it was difficult to capture the reflection in some of the photographs that I took because it just wasnt bright enough to do so.

I think that I am able to make a lot of connections between this photoshoot that I have just completed, and my other photoshoots and ideas that I have had in the past. The connections that I can make to my previous knowledge is the theme that I was focusing on when taking these images. I begun to look at the theme truth vs fantasy and started taking photographs focusing on only one side of the theme and then the other. As time and my ideas have progressed I have begun to look at these two themes in one photoshoo- combining my ideas together. The relationship that I am able to see between this set of photographs and photographs taken by another photographer is Lee Friedlander. I took inspiration from this artist because I found his work very interesting to look at. I had never looked at an artist before whos work was based around reflections and capturing what you are able to see when you look in a glass window. I can also see links between our work because it is both all in Blavk&White, I think that this is an effective colour to use on all of my photos because I have never done an entire shoot in black and white before so it shows that my ideas are developing, it also makes the edges of the photographs stand out well and the relfections are alot crisper and clearer. From exploring this work and by completing a photoshoot I have found out that is it difficult to capture a reflection in a shop window when the lighting is not good- this is because it was too dull to be able to see a bright reflection in the window.

I think that if I was to complete this re-shoot again then I would plan to do it on a day when the weather was going to be good and the sun was going to be shining so that the pictures would come out looking a better quality. I think that these images could be massively effected if the weather was to be better and brighter- this is because I think you would be able to see much more of a reflection which is the main idea behind this photoshoot. I think that the images that I captured in this photoshoot I could possibly use for my final piece- I think that they would be effective to use because I have never done a shoot like this before so it would show that my work is developing and I would be able to do something completely different from work I have done in th past. I have decided to edit this entire shoot into black and white which I also think was effective because it is something that I have never done before. In regards to my final piece I think using black and white photographs would be effective because then I would be able to do manual edits over the top of them in colour- which would allow it to stand out very well. Black and white also links in well with the artist -Lee Friedlander who I took inspiration from as his work was all in black and white, and also the artist Maria Aparico who is the artist that I have been researching because I think that her manual edits are very effective- she works in black and white and then uses colur on top which I think could look very effective.

The image that is on the left is my favourite image that I captured during this shoot. This is because I think that it is the strongest- the best reflection is captured and I also feel that it links with the theme in the best way. This is because you are able to see the shop window and what is inside, but also the person who is looking into the shop window- which was the main purpose showing the theme truth and fantasy. Someone looking into a window and imagining all that they could have which is so close to them- but the truth is they are never going to be able to reach it. I think that it would be effective to do some mock-up’s using this photoshoot- this is because I think it would be a good idea to use a final piece photograph that is based around an artist, as it would show where I have taken my inspiration from and how I have interpreted their ideas and made them into my own.I think that I have alot of personal connections to this shoot which is effective- this is because the model that I have chosen to photograph is of the same age as me, she is wearing an outfit which I would wear , I took the photographs in an area which I live very near too and have been too alot. I think that this was an effective shoot for me to complete because it shows a different range of skills that I posses. It is an interpretation of Lee Friedlander’s work so it shows how I am able to look at a certain photographers work and then interpret it in my own style. It is such a different type of photoshoot that I have ever done in my work before so I think that this shows how my work can vary overtime, and how my ideas can progress and begin to have more of a meaning behind them. I think that this photoshoot has alot of personal connections to myself and it is very symbolic which I think is very effective because it shows I really thought about my work and what I was going to do, and I wanted to make sure that it linked with myself.

PHOTO

Main aim of photo shootThe main aim of this photoshoot was to complete a shoot that was inspired by the artist cause I thought that his work was very interesting and it wasnt anything like any work th would be effective to do a shoot like this. Also because I am putting the theme Truth and Shutter speed range (secs)

Aperture range(f numbers)

0.3 - 1/25

Photo shoot ideas My ideas behind this photoshoot was to do a shoot that was based on the artist Lee Fried Truth and Fantasy. This is because I got a model and decided to photograph her looking i well with both truth and fantasy, the fantasy side was shown in these images because th all that was in there, but the truth was that she just wasnt able to afford it. I decided to Lee used himself, I think it was very effective because it is something that I have never so you are able to see them alot better.

Photo shoot evaluation I think that photoshoot went well because it links in very well with my theme of Truth an theme. I also think that it went well because some of the images came out really well an shop window. If I was to re-shoot this photoshoot then I would make sure that I was to d cause some of the images that I captured were too dull, and because it wasnt sunny eno through my edits and what I have done with the images it makes them look very effectiv

O-SHOOT PLAN

t Lee Friedlander. I decided to do this behat I had done before so I think that it d Fantasy together, it has a very good link.

dlander. I think that it links in really well with the theme that I am looking at which is into a number of shop windows- and captured her reflection in the window. It links in he model was looking into the shop window and hoping that she would be able to have o complete all of this photoshoot in black and white because that is a technique that done before and it makes the pictures (especially ones using reflections) much clearer

nd Fantasy, and shows that my ideas have developed alot throughout me looking at this nd clear and you are really able to see the reflections of the model that I used in the do it on a day when I knew that the weather was going to be good and sunny. This is beough you were’nt able to see the reflection of the model in the window. However I think ve and goes really well with the theme that I am looking at.

Mock up 1 I have created my first mock up here and I have used the photographs from my re-shoot which was based on the theme of Truth vs Fantasy. I have used alot of artist inspiration for this shoot, the colours that I chose to edit the photographs into and the techniques that I have used on the images. The artist that I took the inspiration from for the techniques that I decided to use on my photographs was- Maria Aparico. I have done both manual and digital techniques on these photographs, I used photoshop and drew the lines onto the photograph using the line tool- I did this on two of the photographs shown on this mock up- the one on the top right and the bottom left. I also did manual techniques were I actually sewed onto the photographs using a needle and thread- the top left and the bottom right. I then scanned these photographs and put them onto this document. I think that it would be effective on my final piece if I used both manual and digital techniques, this is because it will show that I have experimented with a number of different techniques and will show variety in my work. I also think using different sized photographs will be effective for my final piece, this is because I have never done anything like that before so I think it will be effective to show I am taking risks and trying something new. For my final piece I would print two of these photographs off on A4 paper and I would then manually edit them, and I would also print off two A5 photographs which I would have already edited on the computer- I would then frame all of them in white frames. I think that white frames would be effective because I have used colour thread on the photographs. I think this technique would be very effective to use on my final piece because it links in with my theme which is truth and fantasy very well. I have used this technique to show areas that I would want to change about the photograph- which links in with the idea of the photoshoot and what someone would change about themselves if they were able to do so. I think that this would be a avery strong idea to use for my final piece because of the variety of photographs that I have chosen, the variety of manual and digital edits and the layout that I have experimented with.

Mock up 2

The model who is looking into the window is looking at what she wishes she was able to wear, and what she wishes she was able to afford. That is portraying the fantasy side of the theme, the truth side comes in because she is just not able to have or afford whatever she is looking at that is behind the glass. She does not have the money to be able to purchase it, yet it is so close to her. I think that it is really effective having the two themes combined into one when I was doing this photoshoot. This is because in all of my previous shoots I have split up the themes and have done truth as one set of images and fantasy as another set of images. I think that this photoshoot and the image that I have decided to choose has a very good link with my self. This is because the model I have used is a female who is the same age as me, she is wearing an outfit which I would wear and she is in the area Windsor which is very close to where I live and I have been there many times before. I think it is effective that I have an emotional link to the work that I have produced because there are connections and there are reasons why I have decided to choose that certain model, that certain outfit and the environment that I have decided to photograph her in. .

For this mock-up I have chosen one photograph that I did in a photoshoot that was based on the artist Lee Friedlander. His work was all about capturing reflections in shop windows and that it was I have done in this photoshoot. I have then edited these photographs into black and white because that is again linking in really well with his work and have then gone on further to edit this photographs using photoshop. I have copy and pasted the same image so that it looks like it is reflecting, this is effective because reflections were my main focus in this theme. I have then begun to cut out certain sections of the photograph and place them in different areas so a small reflection has then been created. I think that it is very effective to have manual and digital reflections going on in this work because it really shows the main aim of my photograph. I would print this photograph out so it was A2 and then place it in a large frame. All of my edits would be done digitally so I do not think that any manual edits need to be done, as I believe this is a strong enough edit on its own. This whole idea links in really well with the theme that I have been focusing on which is Truth and Fantasy. This is because my idea behind this shoot was to photograph a model who is wearing everyday normal clothes looking into a shop window.

Mock up 3 This is a digitial edit that I have created on photoshop and I think that it would look effective as a final piece. This is a photograph that I took in a reflections shoot which I did of a model looking into a window and captured her reflection in that window. This photoshoot was based around the theme of truth and fantasy- the fantasy side of the photoshoot was the model looking into the window and hoping that she could afford what was inside the shop and dreaming about having those items, but the truth is that she is just not able to afford them and will never be able to have them. I have then edited this photograph on photoshop- I did this by cutting out a section of the photograph into a triangle shape, I then copied this layer a number of times so I had multiple numbers of it. I then rotated each of these shapes so that they were all facing inwards together so they were making a pattern. I then cropped this image that I had made so that it was the shape of a rectangle. If I was going to use this for my final piece then I would print it out on an A2 sheet of photo paper and would place in a white frame. I would also then add some coloured thread in the white gaps that have been left inbetween every photograph. I think that this would look effective because the photographs are black and white so one bright colour would stand out very well. I also think that this would be effective to do because it links in with the artist ‘Maria Aparicio’ who I have researched into alot within these theme. I think that this would be a good idea to use for my final piece because this shoot that I did was based all on reflections- I was photographing a model who was looking into the window and was capturing her reflection in that window. I think that is why it is effective that I have used this technique because it is reflecting the same image over and over but at all different angles which I think looks very effective and interesting. I think that it would also be useful and effective to use this picture for my final piece because I can make connections with it, which means that it means more to me as a person. The connections that I am able to make are that the model who I have photographed is the same age as me, she is wearing an outfit which I would wear, she goes to the same school as me and I did this shoot in Windsor which is somehwere very close to where I live, and somewhere I have been alot.

Mock up 4

This is the final mock up that I have decided on for my final piece. I think that this is a vey effective idea for a final piece because it is using ideas and techniques that I havent really focused upon before, show it is showing a development with my work. The photograph that I have decided on for this idea as taken during my reflection shoot which was based on the photographers work ‘Lee Friedlander’. My ideas behind this shoot was for a model to be looking into a shop window and looking at all of the expensive items that are in there, her fantasy would be that she was able to afford all of thos items but the truth is that she isnt able to because she is standing outside the shop looking it. This idea linked in very well with my theme of truth and fantasy, and for this shoot I decided to photograph this two theme’s together instead of photographing them seperately. On the image which is on the top I have then used photoshop to edit it, firstly I have changed the image into black and white- I think that this has a nice effect because all of Lee Friedlander’s work was done in black and white, and it will look good with the edits that I plan on doing over the top. I then copy and pasted the image and reflected it. I then began using the marquee tool on photoshop to cut out certain areas and move them around so it looked like certain parts of this photograph were being reflected. I have then begun to cut out sections of the photograph and have placed them on another sheet below this image. With the parts of the image that have been cut out I am planning on sticking them on a sheet of white card, I am then going to use foam board to raise them up, and place pins in the corner of each part. Using pink embrodiary thread I am going to attach all of the photographs together. I think this is a good idea because it shows that all of the pieces of the picture are linked together by the thread. For this idea I am also going to experiment with sewing on the first image so there is more connections with the two, and I also may use a mirror as I think that could look very effective with the whole reflection aspect. I am then going to frame each of these images in white frames and have one above the other, I am going to print the photographs on photograph paper and they are going to be larger than the size that I have shown on here- it will roughly be size A3 but I am yet to decide on the particular size that I would like to use.
