in Alto Adige, nei mesi invernali, è come tuffarsi in un meraviglioso mondo incantato tutto da scoprire: le dolci colline sono coperte da una soffice coltre di neve, le cime delle montagne sembrano esser state spolverate con lo zucchero a velo e i piccoli masi sugli alpeggi paiono sonnecchiare sotto il loro spesso mantello di neve. Di tanto in tanto un coniglio salta attraverso i campi e un capriolo si nasconde schivo dietro gli abeti coperti dalla neve. Tutt’intorno si respira una pace profonda e si diffonde un’incredibile sensazione di quiete. In questo territorio, l’inverno rappresenta davvero una delle stagioni più belle e suggestive.

die Wintermonate in Südtirol sind wie das Eintauchen in ein verborgenes Winterwunderland: Die sanften Hügel sind in eine Schneedecke gehüllt, die Gipfel der Berge scheinen mit Puderzucker bestäubt worden zu sein und die kleinen Hütten auf den Almwiesen schauen verschlafen unter ihrem dicken Wintermantel hervor. Hie und da hoppelt ein Hase über die Felder und ein Reh versteckt sich scheu unter den schneebedeckten Tannen, ansonsten herrscht pure Ruhe und ein unglaubliches Gefühl von Frieden macht sich breit. Der Winter gehört hierzulande wirklich zu den schönsten und eindrucksvollsten Jahreszeiten.

markus Lanz: der autor und fotograf Neben seiner Arbeit vor der Kamera stellt sich Markus Lanz auch gerne hinter die Kamera. So entstand 2007 die von ihm geschriebene und fotografisch dokumentierte Biografie des ZDF-Fernsehkochs Horst Lichter: „Und plötzlich guckst du bis zum lieben Gott“. Dafür zogen sich Lanz und Lichter für einige Zeit ins Kloster Neustift bei Brixen zurück und begaben sich im Schutz der Klostermauern auf eine Reise zu sich selbst und in die eigene Vergangenheit. Denn nicht nur der schicksalsgeprüfte Starkoch Horst Lichter sah sich mit seinem Leben konfrontiert, auch Lanz „erlebte eine intensive Begegnung mit seiner eigenen Vergangenheit – schön und schmerzhaft zugleich“. Hier verbrachte er 5 Jahre seines jungen Lebens, während derer sein Vater starb. Mit elf Jahren zog er ins Klosterinternat ein und noch heute fasziniert ihn die Ausstrahlung, die von den alten Gemäuern ausgeht, der Geruch nach alten Büchern, Kerzen, Weihrauch und Holz. Nach tausend Fragen und Fotoaufnahmen in dieser intimen Atmosphäre der Ruhe und des Friedens entstand die ergreifende und beeindruckende Biografie, die – so der Wunsch von Markus Lanz – auch zum Nachdenken über die Frage „Wie viel Horst Lichter steckt in jedem von uns ?“ aufwerfen soll. 2010 folgt der Bildband „Grönland. Meine Reise ans Ende der Welt“, in welchem er seine Eindrücke im Eis und die Menschen im Norden Grönlands sowie ihr tägliches Leben in atemberaubenden Bildern festhielt.

markus Lanz in Äthiopien Bereits mehrmals war Markus Lanz zusammen mit dem UNICEF-Team in Äthiopien, um den Menschen dort „sauberes Wasser zu bringen“. Lanz, der selbst in ärmlichen Verhältnissen auf einem Südtiroler Bergbauernhof aufwuchs – sein Vater starb früh und seine Mutter musste ihre drei Kinder allein groß ziehen – schreibt in seinem persönlichen Reisetagebuch: „... Jedes sechste Kind stirbt vor dem fünften Lebensjahr an verschmutztem Trinkwasser. 4 von 5 Äthiopiern haben keinen Zugang zu sauberem Wasser.“ Hautnah erlebt Lanz, wie die Mädchen und Frauen oft stundenlang unterwegs sind um Trinkwasser aus dreckigen Tümpeln zu holen, lernt Schicksale kennen, die für uns Europäer unvorstellbar sind, wie zum Beispiel ein Waisenkind, das seine Mutter verlor, als diese beim Wasserholen von einem Krokodil gefressen wurde oder ein Stammesältester, der mit seiner Karawane ständig dem Wasser nacheilt. Beeindruckt und gerührt schildert Lanz, wie die Menschen geduldig auf ein paar Liter sauberes Trinkwasser warten, er ist hautnah dabei, wenn dieses endlich aus der Tiefe emporschießt und die Menschen zum ersten Mal reines Wasser trinken, Wasser von dem sie nicht krank werden: „Und dann erlebe ich Bilder, die ich nie wieder ver-

Breve biografia

• Nato il 16 marzo 1969 a Brunico. • Cresciuto a Olang, sulla parte orientale di Plan de Corones. • Nel 1988 si diploma alla scuola umanistica dell’Abbazia di Novacella. • Al termine del servizio militare lavora come radiofonico ed entra negli alpini. • Nel 1991/1992 effettua la sua formazione nel campo della comunicazione presso l’Accademia della pubblicità di Monaco di Baviera. • Poi volontario a Radio Hamburg. • Dal 1995 presentatore del notiziario sul canale RTL. • Dal 1997 presentatore del programma “Guten Abend RTL”. • Dal 1998 presentatore dei programmi di attualità “Explosiv” e “Explosiv Weekend”.

markus Lanz: autore e fotografo Oltre al suo lavoro davanti alla macchina da presa, Markus Lanz sta anche volentieri dietro le quinte. Così nel 2007 uscì la biografia, da lui scritta e documentata con fotografie, del cuoco Horst Lichter di canale ZDF: “Und plötzlich guckst du bis zum lieben Gott”. A tale scopo, Lanz e Lichter si ritirarono per un certo periodo di tempo nell’Abbazia di Novacella, vicino a Bressanone, e, nella cornice delle mura del convento, si immersero in un viaggio alla ricerca di se stessi e del proprio passato. Infatti, non soltanto il rinomato cuoco stellato Horst Lichter si è visto confrontato con la sua vita, ma anche Lanz “ha vissuto un incontro intenso con il suo passato – bello e doloroso allo stesso tempo”. Qui trascorse 5 anni della sua giovane vita, durante i quali suo padre morì. A undici anni entrò nel collegio dell’abbazia e ancora oggi lo affascina l’aura emanata dalle antiche mura, l’odore dei libri antichi, delle candele, dell’incenso e del legno. Dopo mille domande e fotografie in questa intima atmosfera di tranquillità e di pace, nacque una struggente e suggestiva biografia, che – per desiderio di Markus Lanz – deve portare a riflettere anche sulla seguente domanda “Quanto Horst Lichter è dentro ognuno di noi?”. Nel 2010 segue il volume illustrato “Grönland. Meine Reise ans Ende der Welt“, in cui egli descrive la sua esperienza tra i ghiacci, la gente del nord della Groenlandia e la sua vita quotidiana attraverso immagini mozzafiato.

markus Lanz in etiopia Markus Lanz si è recato molte volte in Etiopia insieme al team dell’UNICEF per portare alla gente del luogo acqua pulita. Lanz, cresciuto egli stesso in una famiglia povera in un maso dell’Alto Adige – suo padre morì presto e sua madre dovette tirar su da sola tre bambini – nel suo diario personale scrive: “… un bambino su sei muore prima del compimento dei cinque anni di vita per l’acqua potabile contaminata. 4 etiopi su 5 non hanno accesso all’acqua pulita“. Lanz vive da vicino in che modo le bambine e le donne fanno spesso ore di viaggio per andare a prendere l’acqua potabile da stagni sporchi, impara a conoscere destini che per noi europei sarebbero inimmaginabili, come ad esempio un orfano che ha perso la sua mamma divorata da un coccodrillo mentre era intenta a prendere l’acqua, oppure un anziano tribale che con la sua carovana corre costantemente alla ricerca all’acqua. Lanz, impressionato e commosso, descrive come le persone attendono con pazienza per un paio di litri di acqua potabile, egli vive da vicino quando finalmente questa emerge dalla profondità e la gente può bere per la prima volta acqua pulita, che non li farà ammalare: “E poi ho visto cose che non mi scorderò mai. Di fronte a me è arrivata l’acqua potabile pulita da 30

markus Lanz: l‘avventuriero Il tutto ha inizio dalla sua infanzia? Perché ha avuto la fortuna di crescere nella natura incontaminata delle Dolomiti? Lo spirito di avventura di Markus Lanz è irrefrenabile. Il nuovo presentatore di “Wetten, dass…?“ è sempre di più in giro per il mondo, cerca sempre di più l’avventura lontano da ogni moderna forma di civilizzazione, vivendo con gli eschimesi nel villaggio più a nord del mondo, in

metri di profondità alle stelle ed è stata installata una pompa con rubinetto. I volti dei bambini, che non dovevano più perire di sete, erano radiosi. In futuro qui gli abitanti del villaggio controlleranno essi stessi il pozzo. E noi siamo andati via con la sensazione che questa era la strada giusta da intraprendere.”

Groenlandia, accompagnandoli a caccia e condividendo la loro vita dura, ma felice. Egli vive da vicino la lotta quotidiana per la sopravvivenza, le gravi conseguenze dell’arrivo improvviso, prima o poi, dell’inverno, i pericoli di una bufera di neve, i villaggi deserti, che giacciono come città fantasma, ma anche il lato più bello come il rapporto speciale tra il cacciatore e i suoi cani, i bambini che nuotano nell’acqua fredda a 8°C, la grande coesione tra le persone, ormai diventata una rarità ai giorni nostri, e le fantastiche bellezze naturali come l’aurora boreale con i suoi splendidi colori, la luce quasi irreale che sembra provenire dagli iceberg, infinti paesaggi bianchi – e chi si meraviglia che Markus Lanz si rechi lì più e più volte?

markus Lanz: author and photographer In addition to his work in front of the camera, Markus Lanz is also happy behind the scenes. In 2007 he wrote the biography and took photographs of chef Horst Lichter of channel ZDF fame entitled "Und Plötzlich guckst du bis zum lieben Gott" ( And suddenly you look up to God ). For this project, Lanz and Lichter went on a retreat for a period of time in the Abbey of Novacella near Bressanone/ Brixen, and, surrounded by the walls of the convent, immersed themselves in a journey in search of themselves and their past. In fact, not only the star chef Horst Lichter was observed soul-searching, but also Lanz "experienced an intense encounter with his past - beautiful and painful at the same time." At age eleven, Lanz entered the abbey and the aura emanating from the ancient walls, the smell of old books, candles, incense and wood still fascinate him. He spent five years of his young life here, during which his father died. After a thousand questions and photos in this intimate atmosphere of tranquillity and peace, a poignant and evocative biography was conceived - and in keeping with the desires of Markus Lanz - should lead us to reflect on the following question "How much of Horst Lichter is within each of us?". In 2010, followed the illustrated book "Grönland. Meine Reise ans Ende der Welt " in which he recounted his experience in the icy land with the people of northern Greenland and daily life through stunning images.

Lanz himself grew up in a poor family on a farm in South Tyrol - his father died early and his mother had to raise three children on her own - in his personal diary he wrote:"... one in six children dies before the age of five years of life due to contaminated drinking water. 4 out of 5 Ethiopians do not have access to clean water”. Lanz, living at close range, saw how girls and women often travel hours to fetch drinking water from dirty ponds, and learned about life stories, unimaginable for we Europeans, such as an orphan who lost his mother, devoured by a crocodile while she was collecting water, or a tribal

elder who is on a never-ending search for water with his caravan. Lanz, deeply moved, describes how people wait patiently for a couple of litres of drinking water. Lanz follows this closely until one day, water finally emerges from the depths and people can drink clean water, that will not make them sick , for the first time: "And then I saw something I will never forget. In front of me I saw clean drinking water from a depth of 30 m shoot up into the sky to which a pump and faucet were installed. The faces of the children, who no longer had to go thirsty, were radiant. In the future, the villagers themselves will take care of the well. And we are left with the feeling that we have done the right thing".

Inspiriert von der Sonderausstellung „Dinos & Co. – Saurier der Dolomiten“ vergangenen Winter im Naturmuseum in Bozen entstand dieser Artikel, der Sie auf eine Zeitreise durch die Geschichte vor über 250 Millionen Jahren führt und Sie mit äußerst interessanten Erkenntnissen über die faszinierende Welt der Dinosaurier zurückkehren lässt, welche Sie in den Dolomiten nie vermutet hätten.

Obwohl bereits im vergangenen Jahrhundert erste, uns bekannte Fossilienfunde von echsenähnlichen Tieren gemacht wurden, wäre noch vor 30 Jahren kein Geologe auf die Idee gekommen, in den Dolomiten nach Dinosaurierspuren zu suchen. Doch heute wissen wir, dass hier vor Millionen von Jahren eine erstaunliche Vielfalt von Reptilien und Dinosauriern lebte. Zahlreiche, weltweit einzigartige und zum Teil älteste Funde vor allem in den westlichen Dolomiten belegen reges Leben und eine große Artenvielfalt bereits vor dem Auftreten der Dinosaurier. So wurden zum Beispiel zu Beginn der 70er Jahre neue, außergewöhnliche Spuren von echsenähnlichen Reptilien entdeckt. Es handelt sich dabei um primitive Archosaurier, welche im Oberen Perm vor circa 250 Millionen Jahren auftraten, sich im Trias rasch weiterentwickelten und am Ende des Trias wieder ausstarben. In ihrer relativ kurzen Entwicklungsgeschichte haben sie sich zu den Vorfahren der drei wichtigsten Gruppen der späteren Archosaurier entwickelt: Der Dinosaurier, der Flugsaurier und der heute noch lebenden Krokodile. Ihr Aussehen ähnelte den heutigen Krokodilen, allerdings befanden sich ihr Beine fast senkrecht unter dem Leib, sodass sie als erste echte Läufer an Land bezeichnet werden können. Dieser und weitere Interessante Funde von Knochenresten, Schuppen und Abdrücken, welche auf das Äußere der Reptilien schließen lassen sowie die Tatsache, dass einige Funde weltweit die Ältesten sind, werfen die Frage auf: Sind die Dolomiten die Geburtsstätte der Dinosaurier?

International an Bedeutung gewonnen hat die Bletterbachschlucht, der kleine „Grand Canyon“ Südtirols, aufgrund vieler einzigartiger Fossilienfunde, darunter der Fußabdruck eines großen pflanzenfressenden Reptils sowie das Blatt eines Vorfahren der heutigen Ginkgos, die vor 260 Millionen Jahren in den Dolomiten lebten. Zahlreiche gut erhaltene Abdrücke von Pflanzenteilen sowie Fraß- und Wühlspuren geben Aufschluss über die Pflanzenwelt und das Bodenleben der damaligen Zeit. Fossilien in den Meeresablagerungen wie zum Beispiel Muscheln, Schnecken und Kopffüßler berichten vom Leben in den warmen tropischen Meeren. Die Blätterbachschlucht gewährt Einblick in die Entstehung, das Klima und die Umweltbedingungen vor 250 Millionen Jahren, denn anders als in anderen Gebieten der Alpen sind die Schichten im Canyon unversehrt. Vor wenigen Jahren wurde das Gebiet unter Schutz gestellt und mit der Einrichtung des Besucherzentrums Geoparc Bletterbach und des Geomuseums öffentlich zugänglich gemacht. Eine Wanderung durch die Schlucht ist eine Zeitreise ins Erdaltertum und ins Erdmittelalter. Tafeln entlang des Weges informieren über die verschiedenen Gesteinsschichten und über die vielen wertvollen Funde von unterschiedlichsten Fossilien sowie über die Fährten verschiedenster Saurierarten.

Auf die Spuren der Urzeitgiganten können sich Erwachsene wie Kinder am Deutschnonsberg/Ultental machen. Vor vielen Millionen Jahren war die Gegend um den Deutschnonsberg eine Insel, gesäumt von Lagunen. 1997 entdeckte man am Gampenpass Spuren der Urzeitriesen wie Rhyncosauroiden und Thekodontier, woraufhin der „Triassich Parc“ – ein Saurierlehrweg, der ausschließlich dem Thema Dinosaurier gewidmet ist – eingerichtet wurde.

Das älteste und berühmteste Reptil der Dolomiten, der Tridentinosaurus (etwa 300 Millionen Jahre alt), wurde auf der Hochebene von Pinè gefunden. Einzigartig ist nicht nur der Erhaltungszustand, sondern dass sich neben dem Skelett auch Haut sowie vermutlich Teile der inneren Organe erhalten haben. Bedeutender Fund aus dem Triasbereich ist der Wirbel eines Nothosauriers. Besonders deswegen, weil am Ende des Perms das bedeutendste Massenaussterben der Erdgeschichte stattfand und man in den Gesteinen nach diesem Ereignis über Jahrmillionen außer Abdrücken von Muscheln kaum Fossilien findet. Weiters beweisen Fußspuren der Gattung Grallator aus Mezzocorona, dass vor 220 Millionen Jahren im Gebiet der heutigen Dolomiten sicher schon Dinosaurier lebten. Im Friaul wurde das fossilierte Skelett des ältesten fliegenden Reptils gefunden. Für Aufsehen sorgt eine Fundstelle in Anglone am Gardasee: Dort wurden über 500 Fußabdrücke eines fleischfressenden Dinosauriers gefunden, mit 120 Schritten die längste Fährte Europas. Das starke Stück der Kreidezeit bildet „Antonio“ – das einzigartige Fossil eines fast 4 m langen Hadrosauriers, welches im Friaul gefunden wurde und mit 70% das weltweit kompletteste Hadrosaurierskelett ist.

Anche se già nel secolo scorso i primi fossili a noi noti sono stati forme primitive di veri rettili simili a lucertole, ancora 30 anni fa nessun geologo avrebbe mai pensato di cercare nelle Dolomiti tracce di dinosauri. Ma oggi sappiamo che qui, milioni di anni fa, viveva una straordinaria varietà di rettili e di dinosauri. Numerose scoperte, uniche nel loro genere e in parte le più antiche, in particolare nelle Dolomiti occidentali, mostrano numerose forme di vita e una grande varietà già prima della comparsa dei dinosauri. Per esempio, agli inizi degli anni 70, sono state scoperte nuove tracce di rettili simili a lucertole. Si tratta di Arcosauri primitivi, che sono comparsi nel Permiano circa 250 milioni di anni fa, che nel Triassico si sono evoluti rapidamente e che alla fine del Triassico si sono nuovamente estinti. Nella loro storia evolutiva relativamente breve sono diventati gli antenati dei tre principali gruppi successivi di Arcosauri: i dinosauri, gli pterosauri e gli attuali coccodrilli. Il loro aspetto era simile a quello dei coccodrilli di oggi, ma le loro gambe si trovavano quasi perpendicolari sotto il corpo. Ciò ha permesso di considerarli come i primi veri corridori a terra. Questi e altri interessanti reperti di resti di ossa, squame e impronte, che suggeriscono l’aspetto dei rettili, e il fatto che alcuni reperti sono i più antichi del mondo, portano a domandarsi: le Dolomiti sono il luogo di nascita dei dinosauri?

La Gola del Rio delle Foglie, il piccolo “Gran Canyon” dell’Alto Adige, si è guadagnata una fama internazionale a causa del ritrovamento di numerosi reperti fossili unici, tra cui l’impronta di un grande rettile erbivoro e la foglia di un antenato degli attuali alberi di Ginkgo, che vivevano nelle Dolomiti 260 milioni di anni fa. Numerose impronte ben conservate di parti di piante e tracce di cibo e di rovistamenti forniscono informazioni sulla flora e sulle forme di vita del suolo di quel tempo. I fossili dei sedimenti marini, come ad esempio conchiglie, lumache e cefalopodi, raccontano della vita nei mari caldi tropicali. La Gola del Rio delle Foglie fornisce uno squarcio sullo sviluppo, sul clima e sulle condizioni ambientali di 250 milioni di anni fa perché, a differenza di altre zone delle Alpi, nel canyon le stratificazioni sono rimaste indenni. Alcuni anni fa, l’area è stata posta sotto tutela e, con l’istituzione del Centro Visitatori Geoparc Bletterbach e del Museo Geologico, è stata aperta al pubblico. Un percorso attraverso la gola consente di fare un viaggio nel tempo del Paleozoico e del Mesozoico. Le tavole lungo il sentiero informano il visitatore sui punti più interessanti dei diversi strati di roccia, sui numerosi, importanti ritrovamenti di svariati fossili e sulle tracce di diversi tipi di sauri.

In Alta Val di Non/Val d’Ultimo, adulti e bambini possono mettersi sulle tracce dei giganti preistorici. Milioni di anni fa, la zona intorno all’Alta Val di Non era un’isola circondata da lagune. Nel 1997, a Passo Palade, furono scoperte tracce di giganti preistorici come i Rincosauroidi e i Tecodonti. Successivamente, è stato istituito il “Triassic Park”, un sentiero dei dinosauri dedicato esclusivamente al tema dei dinosauri.

Il rettile più antico e conosciuto delle Dolomiti, il Tridentinosaurus (di circa 300 milioni di anni), è stato ritrovato sull’altopiano di Pinè. È unico non soltanto per il suo stato di conservazione, ma anche perché si sono conservate, oltre allo scheletro e alla pelle, anche parti di organi interni. Un reperto rilevante è la colonna vertebrale di un Nothosaurus del Triassico medio, soprattutto perché alla fine del Permiano ci fu la più grande estinzione di massa della Terra e, dopo questo evento, per milioni di anni difficilmente è possibile trovare fossili nelle rocce ad eccezione di calchi di conchiglie. Inoltre, tracce di cibo della specie Grallator di Mezzocorona testimoniano che 200 milioni di anni fa vivevano già sicuramente i dinosauri nelle attuali Dolomiti. In Friuli è stato ritrovato lo scheletro fossile del più antico rettile volante. Da non perdere una zona di ritrovamenti ad Anglone, sul Lago di Garda: qui sono stati scoperti oltre 500 impronte di un dinosauro carnivoro con 120 passi, la traccia più lunga d’Europa. Il pezzo più forte del Cretaceo è chiamato “Antonio”, il fossile unico di un Adrosauro lungo quasi 4 m, che è stato ritrovato in Friuli ed è lo scheletro di Adrosauro più completo del mondo per il 70%.

Although in the last century the first fossils known to us were primitive forms of true reptiles like lizards, even as few as 30 years ago no geologist would have thought to look for traces of dinosaurs in the Dolomites. But today we know that millions of years ago, an extraordinary variety of reptiles and dinosaurs lived here. Numerous one-of-a-kind discoveries and some of the oldest, particularly in the western Dolomites, show numerous forms of life even before the appearance of dinosaurs. For example, in the early 70s, traces of lizard-like reptiles were discovered. They were primitive archosaurs, appearing in the Permian period about 250 million years ago, evolving rapidly during the Triassic Period and dying out at the end of that era. In their relatively short evolutionary history they have become the ancestors of the three main successive groups of archosaurs: dinosaurs, pterosaurs and today’s crocodiles. Their appearance was similar to that of present-day crocodiles, but their legs were nearly perpendicular to the body. This allowed us to consider them as the first real runners on earth. These and other interesting finds of bones, scales and footprints, suggesting a reptilian appearance, and the fact that some finds are the oldest in the world, leads to the question: Are the Dolomites the birthplace of the dinosaurs?

The Rio delle Foglie Gorge, the "Little Grand Canyon" of South Tyrol, earned an international reputation after the discovery of many unique fossils, including the footprint of a large herbivorous reptile and the leaf of an ancestor of the present–day ginkgo tree, existing in the Dolomites 260 million years ago. Many well-preserved remains of plants and traces of foraged food provide information about the flora and forms of life present in the soil of that time. The fossils of marine sediments, such as shells, snails and cephalopods, are evidence of a tropical warm sea environment. The Rio delle Foglie Gorge offers a glimpse on the development, climate and environmental conditions 250 million years ago because, unlike in other parts of the Alps, the layers in the canyon have remained undisturbed. A few years ago, the area was placed under protection and with the establishment of the Bletterbach Geoparc Visitor’s Centre and Geological Museum, was opened to the public. A path through the gorge allows you to travel back to the Palaeozoic and Mesozoic periods, and signposts along the trail describe the points of interest in the varying rock layers, the many important discoveries of fossils, and traces of a variety of different saurians.

In 1997 at Passo Palade, traces of prehistoric giants like Rincosauroidi and thecodonts were discovered. Summary of the principal examples of the existence of dinosaurs in the Dolomites

The oldest known reptile in the Dolomites, Tridentinosaurus (about 300 million years ago), was found on the plateau of Pine. It is unique not only for its state of preservation, but also because the skeleton and even the skin and parts of internal organs are preserved. A significant finding is the backbone of a Nothosaurus from the Middle Triassic period, especially since at the end of the Permian period there was the greatest mass extinction on earth and for millions of years after this event it is nearly impossible to find any fossils in the rocks with the exception of shell casts. In addition, traces of food from the Grallator species near the town of Mezzocorona show that dinosaurs were most certainly already living 200 million years ago where the Dolomites are today. In the Friuli region, the oldest flying reptile fossil skeleton was discovered. A must for dinosaur buffs is the discovery site in Anglone on Lake Garda: over 500 footprints of a dinosaur taking 120 steps were uncovered: the longest tracks in Europe. The most famous specimen of the Cretaceous period, nicknamed "Antonio", is the fossil of a single hadrosaur nearly 4 m long, found in the Friuli region; the hadrosaur skeleton, 70% intact, is the most complete in the world.

Eissport um den Kirchturm Die erste Station ist der Vinschgau. Titel des Startpunktes könnte auch „Gleiten um den Kirchturm“ lauten. Denn Südtirols größte Wasserfläche ist ein Stausee, der 1950 unterhalb des Reschenpasses aufgestaut worden ist. Um Strom erzeugen zu können, wurden die Dörfer Graun und Reschen geopfert und verschwanden in den Fluten. Nur der Kirchturm von Alt-Graun durfte stehen bleiben. Und erinnert daran, dass dort, wo heute 120 Millionen Kubikmeter Wasser sind, einmal Menschen lebten. Das Eis auf knapp 1.500 m.ü.d.M. wird bis zu 40 Zentimeter dick. Wodurch auch die größten Skeptiker beruhigt sein dürften. Der stetig blasende Vinschgerwind hat dazu geführt, dass am Reschensee seit Jahren Kitesurfer zu Gast sind. Und das im Winter: Sie lassen sich auf Skiern und Snowboards von einem Lenkdrachen über die Eisfläche ziehen. Außerdem haben niederländische Freizeitsportler den Reschensee für sich entdeckt: Diese führen hier jährlich Langstreckenrennen auf Eisschnelllaufschlittschuhen durch. Auch dafür ist der Reschensee perfekt geeignet. Denn auf der großen Eisfläche lassen sich lange Runden ziehen. Apropos Eisschnelllauf: Während am Reschensee die Freizeitsportler ihre Zelte aufschlagen, sind in Klobenstein am Ritten die Profis zu Gast. Hier steht der einzige 400 m Eisring Südtirols. Im Winter 2013 sind hier die Olympioniken der Zukunft zu Gast: Bei einer Doppelveranstaltung, dem Junioren Weltcup Finale und der Junioren Weltmeisterschaft küren sie die besten Nachwuchssportler des Planeten. Die Arena Ritten ist schon seit vielen Jahren Austragungsort internationaler Eisschnelllaufrennen. Doch nicht, weil die Anlage so schön ist, sondern weil sie die schnellste Freiluftbahn der Welt ist.

Einmalig: Eissport zwischen Weinbergen Nächste Station auf der „Eisrundreise durch Südtirol“ ist das Südtiroler Unterland, das man mehr mit Wein denn mit Eis in Verbindung bringt. Szenerie für „Eislaufen in den Weinbergen“ ist Südtirols größter Natursee: Der Kalterer See. Zwar friert das Gewässer nicht jedes Jahr zu, doch wenn dem so ist, dann bietet sich hier ein Dahingleiten auf einer großen, glatten Fläche. Auch wenn das Überetsch das mediterranste Gebiet in Südtirol ist, hier wird Eissport mit großer Begeisterung betrieben: Eishockey ist unumstrittener Volkssport Nummer eins und mit Eppan, Kaltern und Neumarkt spielen gleich drei Mannschaften in der zweiten italienischen Liga – und das sehr erfolgreich. Da ist es nicht weiter verwunderlich, dass viele Jugendliche auf der Eisfläche am Montiggler See der Hartgummischeibe nachjagen.

Ungleiche Geschwister: Stocksport und Curling Eishockey wird auch am Ritten gespielt. Nachweislich seit den frühen zwanziger Jahren des letzten Jahrhunderts. Doch wer sich für einen Abstecher auf den Hausberg der Bozner entscheidet, dem werden am idyllischen Waldsee vor allem die Eisstockschützen auffallen, die hier tagelang ihrem Hobby nachgehen. Das gleiche Bild bietet sich auch im Osten Südtirols, wo auf dem Toblachersee, einem Relikt der letzten Eiszeit, die Schützen versuchen, mit den Stöcken der „Taube“ so nahe als möglich zu kommen. Das Eisstockschießen ist geografisch vor allem auf den Alpenraum begrenzt. Internationaler ist das Curling, eine dem Eisstockschießen sehr ähnliche Sportart. Allerdings sind hier Steine die Spielgeräte, der Sport ist international stark verankert. Curling ist bei den olympischen Spielen mit dabei. Dem Stocksport ist diese Adelung noch verwehrt geblieben. Am Pragser Wildsee, der im hintersten Pragsertal liegt, wird Curling gespielt. Die Besonderheit: Während die Profis eigens präparierte Bahnen brauchen, werden hier die Wettkämpfe auf Natureis ausgetragen – ein Trend, der sich schon seit längerer Zeit bei verschiedenen Wintersportarten abzeichnet: Zurück zu den Wurzeln. In Südtirol mit seiner vielfältigen Landschaft und seinen zahlreichen Seen und Wasserflächen würde man etwas versäumen, wenn man sich nicht auf das Eis entführen lassen würde. Denn am Eis spiegelt sich die Tradition und verbindet sich mit der Moderne. Und das Wintererlebnis ist hier so intensiv wie sonst kaum irgendwo.

Sport sul ghiaccio ai piedi del campanile La prima tappa è la Val Venosta. Titolo del punto di partenza potrebbe anche suonare così: “sdrucciolare sul ghiaccio attorno al campanile”. Infatti, la più grande distesa di acqua dell’Alto Adige è un lago artificiale che nel 1950 è stato sbarrato sotto al Passo Resia. Per poter generare energia elettrica, i paesi di Curon e Resia vennero sacrificati scomparendo sotto le onde. Soltanto il campanile di Curon Vecchia è rimasto in piedi e ci ricorda che, dove oggi ci sono 120 milioni di metri cubi di acqua, una volta viveva la gente. Il ghiaccio, a quasi 1.500 metri s.l.m., è spesso fino a 40 centimetri. Quindi, anche i più scettici possono stare tranquilli. Il vento costante che soffia in Val Venosta consente da anni di praticare sul Lago di Resia il kitesurf. E d’inverno, trainati da un aquilone, potrete disegnare cerchi sul ghiaccio con gli sci o lo snowboard. Inoltre, atleti dilettanti olandesi hanno scoperto la propria passione per il Lago di Resia. Questo porta qui ogni anno la gara di pattinaggio di velocità su ghiaccio, per la quale il Lago di Resia è perfetto. Infatti, grazie alla grande distesa di ghiaccio, è possibile gareggiare per lunghe ore. A proposito di pattinaggio di velocità su ghiaccio, mentre sul Lago di Resia gli atleti dilettanti piantano le loro tende, a Collalbo sul Renon sono di scena i professionisti. Qui si trova l’unica pista di pattinaggio dell’Alto Adige di 400 metri. Nell’inverno 2013 saranno ospiti gli olimpionici del futuro: nel corso di un doppio evento, la Finale di Coppo del Mondo Juniores e i Campionati del Mondo Juniores, verranno incoronati i migliori pulcini del pianeta. Già da molti anni l’Arena Renon è il luogo in cui si disputano gare internazionali di pattinaggio di velocità su ghiaccio. Questo non tanto per la bellezza dell’impianto, quanto piuttosto perché è l’anello all’aperto più veloce del mondo.

Unico: sport sul ghiaccio tra i vigneti La prossima tappa del nostro “viaggio negli sport sul ghiaccio in Alto Adige” è la Bassa Atesina, che riporta la mente più al vino che al ghiaccio. Scenario per il “pattinaggio nei vigneti” è il più grande lago naturale dell’Alto Adige: il Lago di Caldaro. Anche se le acque non ghiacciano ogni anno, quando ciò accade, il lago offre una perfetta scorrevolezza su una grande superficie liscia. Per quanto l’Oltradige sia la zona a carattere più mediterraneo dell’Alto Adige, qui lo sport sul ghiaccio viene gestito con grande entusiasmo: l’hockey sul ghiaccio è l’indiscusso sport popolare numero uno e con Appiano, Caldaro ed Egna giocano tre squadre nella seconda Lega Italiana – e con successo. Per questo motivo non deve sorprendere il fatto che molti giovani rincorrano il puck sulla distesa di ghiaccio del Lago di Monticolo.

Fratelli diversi: birilli su ghiaccio e curling L’hockey sul ghiaccio si gioca anche a Renon e ve ne è testimonianza fin dai primi Anni Venti del secolo scorso. Ma chi decide per una puntatina sulle montagne di Bolzano, presso l’idilliaco Laghetto di Fiè non passano inosservati gli appassionati di birilli su ghiaccio, che qui si dedicano al loro hobby per giorni e giorni. Lo stesso dicasi per l’Alto Adige orientale, dove sul Lago di Dobbiaco, un relitto dell’era glaciale, i tiratori con i bastoni cercano di avvicinarsi il più possibile al “pallino”. La pratica dei birilli su ghiaccio è geograficamente circoscritta all’arco alpino. Il curling si avvicina molto ai birilli su ghiaccio, ma rispetto a questi ultimi sono utilizzate pietre di granito levigato. Inoltre, il curling è uno sport sancito a livello internazionale ed è una disciplina che rientra nei giochi olimpici. Ai birilli su ghiaccio tale riconoscimento viene ancora negato. Al Lago di Braies, situato nella più remota Valle di Braies, viene praticato il curling. La particolarità consiste nel fatto che mentre i professionisti hanno bisogno di rink appositamente preparati, qui le gare si svolgono su ghiaccio naturale – una tendenza che caratterizza da lungo tempo diverse discipline sportive invernali e che comunica un ritorno alle origini. In Alto Adige, con il suo paesaggio variegato e la sua ricchezza di laghi e distese di acqua, si sarebbe perso qualcosa se non si fosse riportato in auge l’elemento ghiaccio, perché esso rispecchia la tradizione e si collega con il moderno. Inoltre, qui il divertimento invernale è molto più sentito che in nessun altro luogo.

Sports on ice at the foot of the tower The first stop is Val Venosta. If you had to give a title to this starting point, it might read like this: "Skate on the ice around the bell tower." In fact, the largest expanse of water in South Tyrol is an artificial lake that was dammed in 1950 under the Reschen pass. In order to generate electricity, the villages of Graun and Reschen were sacrificed, disappearing beneath the water. Only the bell tower of Old Graun is still standing and reminds us that once people lived where there are now 120 million cubic meters of water. At 1,500 meters above sea level, ice is often up to 40 cm thick, so even the most sceptical can rest easy. The constant wind blowing in Val Venosta is perfect for kite skiing, a sport that has been practiced on Lake Reschen for many years now. In winter, you can draw circles on the ice on skis or snowboard towed by a kite. In addition, Dutch amateur athletes have a real passion for Lake Reschen. Every year they come back for speed skating races on ice, and Lake Reschen offers the perfect conditions. Due to the vast expanse of ice, competitions can go on for hours. And, speaking of speed skating on ice, while the Lake Reschen amateur athletes pitch their tents nearby, in Collalbo-Renon professionals are on stage. Here is the only 400 meter ice rink in South Tyrol In the winter of 2013 , future Olympic athletes are featured in a double event, the Finals of the Junior World Cup and the Junior World Championships, where the best little athletes on the planet will be crowned. For many years the Ritten Arena is where international competitions of speed skating on ice are held. This is not due to the beauty of the structure, but rather because it is the world's fastest outdoor ring.

on the largest natural lake in South Tyrol: the Kalterer. Even if the water does not freeze every year, when it does, the lake offers perfect skating on a large flat surface. Oltradige maintains the most Mediterranean character of South Tyrol, yet sport on ice is hailed with great enthusiasm: ice hockey is the undisputed number one popular sport, with three successful teams: Appiano, Caldaro and Neumarkt, all in the second Italian League. For this reason, it is not surprising that many youths can be found chasing the puck on the ice of Lake Monticolo.

First cousins: ice stick shooting and curling Ice hockey is also played in Renon and there is evidence from the early twenties of the last century. But if you decide to take a detour to the mountains of Bolzano, to the idyllic Lake Fi猫 you can't help but notice the fans of ice stick shooting, dedicated to their hobby for days on end. You will find more of the same in East Tyrol, where on Lake Dobbiaco, a relic of the Ice Age, the shooters with sticks try to get as close as possible to the "pallino" (little ball). The practice of ice stick shooting is geographically limited to the Alps. Curling is very close to ice stick shooting, but the latter uses polished granite stones. In addition, curling is an internationally sanctioned sport and an Olympic discipline. Ice stick shooting still lacks this recognition. On Lake Braies, located in the remote Braies Valley, curling is practiced. The difference is that while professionals require a specially prepared rink, here races are held on natural ice - a trend that has taken hold for a range of winter sports and offer a message of getting back to basics. In South Tyrol, with its varied landscape and its rich resources of lakes and stretches of water, something important would have been missing if the ice element had not been revitalised, because it reflects tradition and links to the modern. What's more, winter fun is enjoyed in this area like no other.

Peter Thun wurde im Jahre 1955 in Innsbruck geboren. Nach dem Abschluss der Oberschule wurde von Seiten seiner Eltern zum ersten Mal das Thema Keramikschule zur Sprache gebracht. Da er ihrerseits aber Freiraum für seine persönlichen Entscheidungen erhielt, entschied er sich für ein Studium „Scuola Manageriale d‘Amministrazione Industriale“ in Turin. 1978 übernahm Thun im relativ jungen Alter von 23 Jahren die Firmenleitung der Thun Keramik, welche seine Eltern, Graf Otmar und Gräfin Lene Thun, im Jahre 1950 auf Schloss Klebenstein in Bozen gründeten. Diesen Einstieg als Jungunternehmer verband er aber nicht mit Angst, da er, zusätzlich zum Rückhalt seiner Eltern, welche ihn bei den Anfangsherausforderungen tatkräftig zur Seite standen, zusätzlichen Mut und seine Motivation aus dem Drang nach Erfolg und Aufstieg bezog. Ein weiterer Faktor, der positiv zum sukzessiven Aufbau des Unternehmens zu einer internationalen Holding beitrug, war die Leidenschaft seiner Mutter zur Kunstkeramik, welche Peter Thun ständig begleitete. Im Jahre 2002 wurde in Bozen das Thuniversum eröffnet, welches unter der Federführung von Peter Thuns Bruder Matteo entstanden

ist und mit 400.000 Besuchern jährlich eine der wichtigsten Touristenattraktionen der Landeshauptstadt darstellt. Zur selben Zeit wurde auch das Projekt zur Eröffnung der Thun-Welt auf dem Virgl oberhalb von Bozen geplant, welches aber von der Gemeinde Bozen zurückgewiesen wurde. Laut Thun hätte sich dieses Projekt aus privater und öffentlicher Finanzierung zusammengesetzt und wäre ohne Frage attraktiv für Südtirol gewesen. Jedoch hätten die Polemiken und die finanziellen Probleme die anfängliche Freude zu guter Letzt doch in den Schatten gestellt, weshalb er der Ablehnung des Projekts Virgl in keinster Weise nachtrauert. Das Unternehmen Thun verfügt zurzeit über 1.600 Verkaufspunkte und beschäftigt über 3.000 Mitarbeiter weltweit. Die Produktion, welche in den verschiedensten Ländern der Welt, darunter Italien, Bulgarien, China, Vietnam, Bangladesch und Thailand stattfindet, beläuft sich bei weitem nicht mehr nur auf Keramikartikel, sondern umfasst auch Materialien wie Seide, Leder, Holz, Glas und vieles mehr. Mit THUN DONNA und THUN BIMBO hat Thun erfolgreich in Richtung der Damen- und Kindermode expandiert, obwohl der Zeitpunkt in Anbetracht

der aktuellen wirtschaftlichen Lage sehr riskant gewählt war. Allein die Anzahl der Geschäfte des Produktzweigs THUN DONNA sollen sich bis zum Jahr 2013 auf 40 in ganz Italien belaufen. Obwohl Peter Thun auf den mit dem Erfolg des Unternehmens verbundenen Geschäftsreisen viel unterwegs ist und bereits viele Weltmetropolen gesehen hat, ist Südtirol für ihn immer noch einer der schönsten Orte der Welt und er freut sich immer wieder darauf, in seine Heimat zurückzukehren. Im Jahre 2008 gründete Thun die Stiftung Lene Thun im Gedenken an seine 2004 verstorbene Mutter, mit dem Ziel, benachteiligten Menschen zu helfen und deren Träume wahr werden zu lassen. Die Stiftung ist derzeit in kreativen, pädagogischen und sozialen Projekten für Waise und bedürftige Kinder der „SOS-Kinderdörfer“ tätig, beteiligt sich an Projekten zur Schaffung und Verbesserung von sozialen Integrationsmöglichkeiten für benachteiligte Menschen und veranstaltet künstlerische und unternehmerische Ausbildungsprojekte im Bereich des Keramikhandwerks. Für Peter Thun nahm die regelmäßige sportliche Betätigung, vor allem die auf 2 Rädern, schon seit jeher einen sehr hohen Stellenwert ein. Dies setzt er

auch erfolgreich in seinem Unternehmen um, wo er auf Basis der „5 Säulen der Gesundheit“ nach Franz Mühlbauer ein Aktivprogramm erstellt hat, welches eine gesunde und ausgeglichene Lebensweise bei den Mitarbeitern fördern soll. Von der Gestaltung und Ausstattung der Büroräume über die Ernährung bis hin zur Förderung der Entspannung und der Lebensfreude: In allen Bereichen des täglichen Betriebslebens wird mit dem „life-quality“-Programm gearbeitet. In seinem Terminplaner hat Peter Thun neben seinen geschäftlichen Verpflichtungen auch Auszeiten, zu welchen er sportliche Betätigung, ausgewogene und bewusste Ernährung und Zeit mit der Familie zählt, fest verankert. Dies soll vor allem zur Verwirklichung seines eigenen ausgeglichenen Lebensstils beitragen, zu welcher jeder Mensch zu einem großen Teil selbst verantwortlich ist. Diese Ausgeglichenheit und Glück sind die Wünsche, welche Herr Thun abseits vom Geschäftlichen an die Zukunft richtet.

Peter Thun nasce nel 1955 a Innsbruck. Dopo la maturità, per la prima volta venne tirato in ballo da entrambi i suoi genitori l’argomento relativo alla scuola di ceramica. Libero, comunque, di prendere la sua strada, egli decise di studiare presso la “Scuola Manageriale di Amministrazione Industriale” di Torino. Nel 1978 Thun, alla giovane età di 23 anni, assunse la gestione di Thun Ceramica, che i suoi genitori, il conte Otmar e la contessa Lene Thun, avevano fondato nel 1950 al Castello Klebenstein di Bolzano. Egli gestì questa ascesa in qualità di giovane imprenditore senza paura in quanto, oltre al sostegno dei genitori, che furono al suo fianco in modo fattivo nella fase delle prime sfide, anche il coraggio e la sua motivazione a raggiungere il successo hanno fatto la loro parte. Un ulteriore fattore che ha contribuito positivamente al progressivo sviluppo dell’azienda in una holding internazionale è stata la passione di sua mamma verso l’arte della ceramica, che ha costantemente accompagnato Peter Thun. Nel 2002 è stato inaugurato a Bolzano Thuniversum, creato sotto la dire-

zione di Matteo, il fratello di Peter Thun, che con 400.000 visitatori l’anno rappresenta una delle più importanti attrazioni turistiche del capoluogo. Allo stesso tempo, venne pianificato anche il progetto per l’apertura del Mondo Thun a Virgolo, sopra Bolzano, respinto dal Comune di Bolzano. Secondo Thun, questo progetto si sarebbe potuto realizzare con finanziamenti privati e pubblici e, senza dubbio, sarebbe stato molto interessante per l’Alto Adige. Tuttavia, le polemiche e i problemi finanziari avrebbero finito per oscurare la gioia iniziale, motivo per cui egli non rimpiange in alcun modo il rifiuto del progetto a Virgolo. L’azienda Thun ha attualmente oltre 1.600 punti vendita e oltre 3.000 collaboratori in tutto il mondo. Con THUN DONNA e THUN BIMBO, Thun si è espansa con successo in direzione della moda donna e bambino, anche se il

momento, vista l’attuale situazione economica, non era dei migliori. Soltanto il numero di negozi di sedi distaccate di THUN DONNA dovrebbe aggirarsi sui 40 in tutta Italia entro il 2013. Sebbene Peter Thun viaggi molto per garantire il successo dell’azienda e abbia già visto numerose metropoli, per lui l’Alto Adige è ancora uno dei luoghi più belli del mondo ed è sempre felice di ritornare nella sua patria. Nel 2008, Thun ha istituito la Fondazione Lene Thun in memoria di sua madre morta nel 2004, con l’obiettivo di aiutare le persone indigenti e rendere reali i loro sogni. La fondazione è attualmente impegnata in progetti creativi, pedagogici e sociali per gli orfani e i bambini bisognosi dell’“SOS - Villaggio dei bambini”, partecipa a progetti per la creazione e il miglioramento delle opportunità di integrazione sociale per persone disagiate e organizza progetti di formazione artistica e imprenditoriale nel settore della ceramica artigianale. Peter Thun svolge regolare attività sportiva, in particolare sulle due ruote, che già da anni riveste una grande importanza. Questo concetto è stato adottato con

successo anche nella sua azienda dove, sulla base dei “5 pilastri della salute”, creati da Franz Mühlbauer, ha definito un programma attivo che promuove tra i collaboratori uno stile di vita sano ed equilibrato. Dalla progettazione e arredamento degli spazi per gli uffici, all’alimentazione, fino alla promozione del relax e della gioia di vivere: in tutti i settori di attività della vita quotidiana ci si rapporta con il programma “Life-Quality”. Nella sua agenda, Peter Thun ha indicato in modo preciso, oltre ai suoi impegni di lavoro, anche i momenti di pausa dedicati all’attività sportiva, all’alimentazione equilibrata e consapevole e al tempo con la famiglia. Ciò è destinato principalmente a contribuire alla realizzazione del suo stile di vita equilibrato, di cui ogni persona è in gran parte responsabile. Peter Thun was born in 1955 in Innsbruck. After high school, for the first time, both parents brought up the idea of his attending a ceramics school. A free spirit, he decided to study at the "School of Industrial Managerial Administration” of Turin. In 1978, Thun, at the tender age of 23, took over the management of Thun ceramics that his parents, Otmar and Lene had founded in 1950 at the Castle Klebenstein of Bolzano. He started his ascent as a young entrepreneur fearlessly because, in addition to the support of his parents, who remained behind him in the first phase of the challenges, he had the courage and a strong drive for success. Another factor that contributed to the steady development of the company as an international holding was his mother's passion for the art of ceramics, and she frequently accompanied Peter. In 2002 in Bolzano Thuniversum was opened, created under the direction of Matteo, Peter's architect brother, and with 400,000 visitors a

year is one of the most important tourist attractions of the capital. At the same time, a project was also planned for the opening of Thun World in Virgolo, Bolzano, that was rejected by the city of Bolzano. According to Thun, this project could have been achieved with funding from both public and private sectors and, undoubtedly would have been very interesting for South Tyrol. Controversy and financial problems, however, would eventually overshadow the initial exuberance, which is why Thun does not regret the rejection of the Virgolo project. The company currently has more than 1,600 stores and more than 3,000 employees worldwide. The production, which is centered in various countries around the world, including Italy, Bulgaria, China, Vietnam, Bangladesh and Thailand, covers not just ceramic items, but also includes materials such as silk, leather, wood, glass and more. With THUN WOMAN and THUN CHILD, Thun has successfully expanded into

fashion for women and children, even though the difficult current economic situation has not made it easy. Even so, THUN WOMAN plans about 40 store branches throughout Italy by 2013. Although Peter Thun travels frequently to ensure the success of the company and has already seen numerous cities, South Tyrol is still one of his favourite places in the world and he is always happy to return to his homeland. In 2008, the Lene Thun Foundation was established in memory of the matriarch who died in 2004, with the goal of helping poor people realise their dreams. The Foundation is currently engaged in creative, educational and social programmes and projects for orphans and children in need. '"SOS - Children's Village", is involved in projects for creating and improving opportunities for social inclusion for disadvantaged people and organizes artistic and entrepreneurial training projects in the ceramics sector. Peter Thun enjoys regular sports activities, biking in particular,

which has been important to him for years. The concept of activity has been successfully adopted in his own business. Based on the "five pillars of health" created by Franz M眉hlbauer, Thun has established an active program that promotes a healthy and balanced lifestyle for employees. From the design and furnishing of office space, to nutrition, to the promotion of relaxation and joy of living: all areas of daily living are interrelated in the "Life-Quality" programme. In his diary, Peter Thun stated that in addition to his work commitments, moments of relaxation dedicated to sport, a balanced and conscious nutritional regime and time with the family are essential. These elements combine to contribute to a balanced lifestyle, for which each individual is largely responsible. Outside of his work commitments, this balance and the pursuit of happiness are what inspire Thun for the future.

Pur Südtirol jetzt auch in Bruneck Pur Südtirol adesso anche a Brunico | Pur Südtirol is now also in Brunico Pur Südtirol mal zwei: Neben Meran ist nun auch seit dem 4. August 2012 Bruneck Standort des Genussmarktes Pur Südtirol. Über 1400 Artikel von Südtiroler Produzenten können hier erworben werden. Die Produktsparte reicht dabei von Südtiroler Köstlichkeiten wie Speck, Käse, Säfte, Obst, Gemüse und Brot, bis hin zu originellen Handwerksprodukten, wie Tischsets aus Schafswolle, edle Schneidebretter und Holzschüsseln aus Nussholz. Der Standort mitten im Stadtzentrum ist bestens gewählt und garantiert seinen Besuchern Gaumenfreude und Qualität auf höchstem Niveau. Das Design für das neue Standbein stammt vom Meraner Harry Thaler. Seine Anliegen: Die Verbindung der Traditionen Südtirols mithilfe heimischer Materialien. I prodotti spaziano dalle prelibatezze altoatesine, come speck, formaggi, succhi di frutta, verdure e pane, fino agli originali prodotti artigianali, come tovagliette in lana, taglieri pregiati e ciotole in legno di noce. La posizione nel centro della città è la scelta migliore e garantisce ai visitatori gioie per il palato e qualità di alto livello. Il design per la nuova sede proviene dal meranese Harry Thaler. Il suo desiderio è stato quello di creare un legame tra le tradizioni altoatesine con l’utilizzo di materiali locali. Al fine di rendere il consumo dei prodotti in loco un’esperienza indimenticabile, a Brunico è stata creata una zona ristorante separata con wine bar. Starten wir unsere Tour durch Bozen an der Talferbrücke: Einerseits eine geradlinige Verbindung zwischen Altund Neustadt, andererseits eine „Panoramaüberquerung“ mit herrlichem Blick auf das Bergmassiv Rosengarten. Auf der orthographisch rechten Seite der Talfer liegt die mittelalterliche Innenstadt mit der für Fußgängern vorbehaltenen „Einkaufsmeile“, welche von der Museumstraße über den Obstplatz durch die Laubengänge bis zum Rathausplatz bzw. zum Waltherplatz reicht. Die Bozner Altstadt mit den vielen verwinkelten Gassen, mehreren Kirchen und Klöstern, historischen Plätzen sowie zahlreichen Bars, Restaurants und Cafés ist ein beliebter Treffpunkt für Jung und Alt, Einheimische sowie Gäste. Demgegenüber steht die „Neustadt“, das sogenannte Stadtviertel Quirein: Errichtet im Auftrag von Mussolini unter der Federführung des Architekten Marcello Piacentini, ist dieser Stadtteil geprägt von der pompösen Architektur des Faschismus. Mussolini plante hier das neue Stadtzentrum, ein sogenanntes „Quartiere monumentale“ (repräsentatives Stadtviertel), dessen Mittelpunkt der Siegesplatz mit dem imposanten Siegesdenkmal darstellt. Das gesamte Viertel ist streng geometrisch und geradlinig aufgebaut, mit klar strukturierten Gebäudefassaden, welche durch ihre Strenge, Größe und die Wahl des Materials Andacht und Respekt hervorrufen sollen. Entlang der neuen Hauptstraße Richtung Westen werden die Arkadengänge (Lauben) der Bozner Altstadt aufgegriffen und konsequent in moderner, monumentaler Form umgesetzt. Ebenso wie in der Altstadt sind auch hier Geschäfte, Cafés und Restaurants untergebracht. In der Meraner Altstadt trifft mittelalterliches Flair auf die Eleganz des Jugendstils. Dazwischen immer wieder moderne Bauten, voller Kontrast und doch harmonisch eingebettet in das gesamte Erscheinungsbild der Stadt. Beginnen wir mit dem Kurhaus, das Wahrzeichen der Stadt Meran. Der Grundbau im neoklassizistischen Stil wurde im Jahre 1874 eröffnet und diente als Aufenthaltsort für Kurgäste und Sitz der Kurabteilung. Neben einem Rauch-, Spiel-, Konversations- und Lesezimmer beherbergte es auch einen Damensalon sowie einen Ball- und Konzertsaal mit provisorischer Bühne und ein Spielcasino. Der heute für Bälle, Galas, Konzerte, Kongresse und andere Veranstaltungen genutzte Anbau wurde 1914 eröffnet und erfreut sich dem Besuch von Weltklassemusikern und -orchestern sowie anderen internationalen Berühmtheiten. Direkt gegenüber, auf der anderen Seite der Passer, befinden sich die 2005 eröffneten Therme Meran mit dem Thermenhotel und dem Thermenplatz, ein architektonisches Kunstwerk aus Glas und Stahl. Der Thermenplatz mit dem Terassencafé hat sich zu einem neuen Treffpunkt sowohl für Einheimische als auch für Gäste etabliert. Wenn wir die Passer erneut überqueren und über den Theaterplatz und den Rennweg spazieren, gelangen wir in die Meraner Lauben. Der vorwiegend mittelalterlich geprägte Laubengang aus dem 13. Jahrhundert war das Handelszentrum der Grafschaft Tirol mit eigener Münzstätte (im heutigen Pötzelberger-Gebäude am Pfarrplatz). In den zahlreichen Hinterhöfen und Passagen hat sich die mittelalterliche Architektur dank behutsamer Restaurierungen bis in die jetzige Zeit erhalten. Heute sind die Lauben, eingeteilt in Berg- und Wasserlauben (also dem Berg bzw. der Passer zugewandt), eine beliebte Einkaufsstraße in Meran, wo man neben vielen alteingesessenen Geschäften auch zahlreiche Label bekannter internationaler Marken findet. Beenden wir unseren architektonischen Spaziergang an der elegantesten Brücke Merans, der Postbrücke. Diese Jungendstilbrücke wurde errichtet, um eine vor allem für die Geschäftsleute wichtige Verbindung zwischen dem östlichen Teil Merans und dem Altstadtzentrum zu schaffen.

Nel centro storico di Merano l’atmosfera medievale si incontra con l’eleganza dello stile liberty. In mezzo, edifici sempre più moderni in contrasto, ma allo stesso in armonia con l’aspetto generale della città. Iniziamo con il Kurhaus, il simbolo della città di Merano. La prima parte in stile neoclassico è stata inaugurata nel 1874, offriva dimora ai pazienti e costituiva la sede del reparto cure. Oltre alle sale da fumo, da gioco, di conversazione e di lettura, ospitava anche un parrucchiere per signore e una sala per balli e concerti con un palcoscenico provvisorio e un casinò. L’attuale edificio, utilizzato per balli, gala, concerti, congressi e altre manifestazioni, è stato inaugurato nel 1914 e si pregia della visita di musicisti e orchestre di fama mondiale così come di altre celebrità internazionali. Proprio di fronte, dall’altra sponda del Passirio, si trovano le Terme di Merano, inaugurate nel 2005, con l’Hotel Terme e Piazza Terme, un capolavoro architettonico in vetro e acciaio. Piazza Terme, con il cafè sulla terrazza, si è affermata come un nuovo punto di incontro sia per i residenti che per i turisti. Attraversiamo

I portici del XIII secolo, prevalentemente di stampo medievale, costituivano il centro commerciale della contea del Tirolo con una propria zecca (nell’attuale edificio Pötzelberger in Piazza Duomo). In molti cortili e passaggi si è conservata l’architettura medievale fino ai giorni nostri grazie ad un’opera di attento restauro. Oggi i portici, distinti tra i “Portici della montagna”, verso Monte Benedetto, e i “Portici del fiume”, verso le acque del Passirio, sono una rinomata via dello shopping di Merano dove, oltre a numerosi negozi autoctoni, è possibile trovare molteplici marchi di livello internazionale. Terminiamo la nostra passeggiata alla scoperta delle bellezze architettoniche della città sul ponte più elegante di Merano, il Ponte delle Poste. Questo ponte in stile liberty è stato costruito soprattutto per gli uomini d’affari, al fine di creare un importante collegamento tra la parte est di Merano e il centro storico della città.

Today, the porticoes, known as the "Mountain porticoes" towards Mount Benedict, and "River Porticoes" toward the Passirio River, are popular shopping streets in Merano where, in addition to many local-branded shops, you can find many world class brands. We end our walk to discover the architectural beauty of the city's most elegant bridge in Merano, the Ponte delle Poste. This bridge was built in the Art Nouveau style especially for businessmen, to create an important link between the eastern part of Merano and the historic city centre.

Die Barockstadt Brixen ist die älteste Stadt Tirols und prunkvolle Bischofsstadt seit 901. Zudem war sie Reisestation der Kaiser und wartet dementsprechend mit einer Reihe architektonischer Highlights auf. In der historischen, mittelalterlichen Altstadt mit engen verwinkelten Gässchen und herrschaftlichen Häusern befinden sich der Brixner Dom und der angrenzende Kreuzgang, die Hofburg der ehemaligen Fürstbischöfe, das Priesterseminar, die beiden Laubengassen, das Mutterhaus der Brixner Tertiarschwestern, das Klarissenkloster, das Kapuzinerkloster und die Pfarrkirche. In anderen Worten: Geballte architektonische Juwelen auf kleinstem Raum. Ein Wahrzeichen der Stadt ist der Dom mit seinen Doppeltürmen, ursprünglich um 980 erbaut, ständig erneuert und weiterentwickelt, erhielt er seine heutige barocke Form in den Jahren 1745 – 1754. Namhafte Künstler wie Paul Troger (Fresken) oder Theodor Benedetti (Hochaltar) waren am Bau beteiligt. Neben dem Dom gehört der Weiße Turm mit dem Turmmuseum zu den Wahrzeichen Brixens. Seinen Namen erhielt der 72 m hohe gotische Turm der ebenso sehenswerten Pfarrkirche zum Hl. Michael wegen seines hellen, gemauerten Turmdaches. Typisch sind auch die vier Erker, hinter denen sich die Stube des Feuerwächters befand. Die Pfarrkirche selbst vereint alle Epochen von der Romanik bis hin zur Romantik in sich: Der Bau selbst wurde im romanischen Stil errichtet, im 15. Jh. um einen gotischen Chor und Turm ergänzt, im 18. Jh. barockisiert mit Fresken des Trogerschülers Josef Hautziger und mit Altären des Barock, Klassizismus und Romantik ausgestattet. Die Hofburg besticht mit den Renaissanceloggien, den geschlossenen Barockfassaden, dem Burgtor, dem barocken Marmorportal und den Türmchen der Hofkirche. Sie wird als eine der stimmungsvollsten Schlosshöfe Südtirols bezeichnet. Die Laubengänge wurden wie vielerorts für die Händler des Mittelalters gebaut. Auch heute noch befinden sich dort Restaurants, schicke Boutiquen und nette Tagescafés.

Per questo motivo offre numerose attrazioni architettoniche. Nella storica e medievale città vecchia, con i suoi vicoli e le sue case signorili, si trova il Duomo di Bressanone e l’adiacente chiostro, il Palazzo Vescovile, in passato residenza dei principi vescovi, il seminario, i portici, la casa madre delle Suore Terziarie di Bressanone, il convento delle Clarisse, il convento dei Cappuccini e la chiesa parrocchiale. In pratica, gioielli preziosi concentrati in uno spazio ridotto. Un simbolo della città è il Duomo con le sue torri gemelle, originariamente costruito intorno al 980, costantemente rinnovato e in evoluzione, che ha ricevuto la sua forma barocca attuale negli anni 1745 – 1754. Tipici sono i quattro sporti con tetto a doppio spiovente, dietro ai quali si celava la “stube” di una guardia che aveva il compito di suonare l’allarme in caso di incendio. La stessa parrocchia riunisce in sé tutte le epoche, dal romanico fino al romanticismo: l’edificio è stato costruito in stile romanico, nel XV secolo è stato aggiunto un coro gotico e il campanile, nel XVIII secolo è stato barocchizzato con gli affreschi di Josef Hautziger, discepolo di Troger, e con altari del barocco, del neoclassicismo e del romanticismo. Sisters of St. Francis, the Clarisse convent, the Capuchin monastery and the parish church. All told, many precious gems concentrated in a small space. A symbol of the city is the cathedral with its twin towers, originally built around 980, continually being renewed and evolving, which took on its current Baroque form in the years 1745 to 1754. Artists such as Paul Troger (for the frescoes) and Theodor Benedetti (for the altar) were involved in the construction. Besides the cathedral, the White Tower with its museum is a Bressanone landmark. The Gothic tower, 72m high, the splendid parish church dedicated to the Archangel St. Michael, took its name for the light brick of the roof. Typical are the four dormer windows with a gabled roof, behind which was the "stube" (den) of the guard whose job was to sound the alarm in case of fire. The parish itself combines many styles, from Romanesque to Romance: the building was built in the Romanesque style; in the fifteenth century a Gothic choir was added and in the eighteenth century the Baroque style bell tower with frescoes by Josef Hautziger, a pupil of Troger, and altars of the Baroque, Neoclassicism and Romanticism styles. The inner courtyard of the Episcopal palace, with its Renaissance loggia, its baroque facades, the castle portal, the marble portal and the bell tower of the church is certainly one of the most beautiful courtyards of all Southern Tyrolean residences. The arcades were built in many places for the traders of the Middle Ages, and today they are the home to restaurants, trendy boutiques and cosy cafes.

Eingebettet im Talkessel, wo das Ahrntal vom Pustertal abzweigt, befindet sich die mittelalterliche Stadt Bruneck, welche in architektonischer Hinsicht eine Vielzahl an Sehenswürdigkeiten zu bieten hat. An jedem der vier Eingänge zur Stadtgasse wartet auf die Besucher der Rienzstadt ein mit verschiedenen Wappen und Bildern geziertes Stadttor. Betritt man die Stadtgasse, fällt der Blick auf die sich abwechselnde Anordnung von Herrenhäusern, welche mit mittelalterlichen Fresken und Giebelstrukturen ausgestattet sind. In diesen befinden sich heute verschiedene Geschäfte und Restaurants. Beim Verlassen der Stadtgasse in Richtung Oberstadt erblickt der Besucher die barocke Mariensäule aus dem Jahr 1716 und den dahinterliegenden Palais Sternbach, der diesen Stadtteil beherrscht. Auf dem Weg durch Bruneck können die Besucher sich an der vielseitigen kirchlichen Architektur erfreuen. Sowohl die 1675 barockisierte Rainkirche mit ihrem aufwändig gestalteten Zwiebelturm, als auch die gotische Ursulinenkirche aus dem 15. Jahrhundert mit den Fresken von Johannes von Bruneck und ihrer Krypta aus dem Jahre 1410, oder die in der Mitte des 14. Jahrhunderts gebaute barocke Hl.-Geist-Kirche. Die imposanteste Erscheinung ist jedoch die Brunecker Pfarrkirche, welche mit ihren zwei romanischen Spitztürmen und der 4 Meter hohen Marmorstatue der „Maria Immaculata“ in der Oberstadt zu sehen ist. Egal jedoch, welchen Standpunkt der Besucher innerhalb der Stadt wählt, jeder gibt einen Blick auf das Schloss Bruneck frei. Das von 1251-1288 von Bischof Bruno von Kirchberg errichtete Schloss musste im Laufe der Zeit mehrere Umbauten über sich ergehen lassen, bevor Fürstbischof Christoph von Schroffenstein ihm seine endgültige Gestalt gab. Als Haupteingang gilt das spätgotische Südportal, welches früher nur über eine Zugbrücke erreichbar war. Im Inneren befindet sich der Bergfried, welcher den ältesten Teil der Burg darstellt. Der Innenhof ist mit den Wappen der Bischöfe geschmückt, welche das Schloss im Laufe der Zeit bewohnt haben. Auf Schloss Bruneck wurde im Sommer 2011 das Messner Mountain Museum eröffnet. Proprio qui oggi sono presenti diversi negozi e ristoranti. Uscendo dalla Via Centrale in direzione della città alta, il visitatore scorge la barocca Colonna Mariana del 1716 e il sottostante Palazzo Sternbach, che domina questa parte della città. Sulla strada per Brunico, i visitatori possono ammirare la variegata architettura ecclesiastica. Sia la Chiesa di S. Caterina del 1675 con il suo campanile a bulbo dal design elaborato, sia la Chiesa gotica delle Orsoline del XVI secolo con gli affreschi di Johannes da Brunico e la sua cripta del 1410, che la Chiesa di S. Spirito della metà del XIV secolo. L’ingresso principale è costituito dal portale sud tardo gotico, a cui un tempo si accedeva solo attraverso un ponte levatoio. All’interno si trova il mastio, che è la parte più antica del castello. Il cortile interno è decorato con gli stemmi dei vescovi che negli anni hanno dimorato nel castello. Al Castello di Brunico, nell’estate 2011, è stato inaugurato il Messner Mountain Museum. The medieval town of Brunico is located in a valley where the Aurina Valley branches off from the Val Pusteria, and with its many attractions, has much to offer in terms of architecture. At each of the four entrances to via Centrale, the town on the Rienza river greets visitors with a number of coats of arms as well as the exquisite frescoes of the city gate. Entering on via Centrale, visitors can marvel on the alternating facades of the local buildings, embellished with medieval frescoes and crenulated gables. A number of shops and restaurants are still located here today. Taking Via Centrale towards the upper town, visitors can see the Baroque Mariana column dating from 1716 and just below, the Sternbach

Palace, dominating this part of the town. On the road to Brunico, visitors can admire the colourful ecclesiastical architecture. Both the Church of St. Catherine from 1675 with its elaborately designed onion dome, and the XVI century gothic Church of the Ursulines with frescoes by Johannes of Brunico and its crypt in 1410, as well as the Church of the Holy Spirit dating from the mid-fourteenth century. Definitely worth a visit is the most impressive of all: the Parish Church of Brunico, with its two Romanesque towers and four-metre tall marble statue of the Virgin Mary in the upper town. Regardless of which part of the city the visitor chooses, The Brunico Castle is always visible. Commissioned in the years spanning 1251-1288 by Bishop Bruno von Kirchberg, over time the castle has undergone several transformations before the prince-bishop Christoph von Schroffenstein gave it its final appearance. The main entrance is the southern portal of the late Gothic period, which used to be accessed only through a drawbridge. Inside is the keep, which is the oldest part of the castle. The courtyard is decorated with the coats of arms of the bishops who over the years have lived in the castle. In the summer of 2011, the Messner Mountain Museum was inaugurated, located inside the Brunico castle walls.

In der mittelalterlichen Fuggerstadt Sterzing befindet sich eine der schönsten Straßen des gesamten Alpenraums: Die Neustadt. Im 13. Jahrhundert errichtet, wurde sie nach einem Großbrand im 16. Jahrhundert gänzlich zerstört und konnte aufgrund des durch den Bergbau gewonnenen Reichtums prunkvoll wiederaufgebaut werden. Das Ergebnis: Imposante Bürgerhäuser mit stolzen Fassaden und Zinnengiebeln sowie reizenden Erkern machen die Neustadt zu einem einzigartigen städtebaulichen Ensemble Sterzings. Früher war die Neustadt von einer Mauer mit fünf Toren umgeben, innerhalb welcher sich die Häuser heute eng aneinander schmiegen. Sie sind nur durch einige schmale Gassen getrennt und manchmal sogar ineinander gebaut. Das wichtigste dieser Tore ist das Tor im Zwölferturm, das Wahrzeichen Sterzings, welches die etwas schlichtere Altstadt von der Neustadt trennt. Als architektonisch wertvoll gilt das Sterzinger Rathaus mit dem hölzernen Saal, welcher als einer der schönsten Tirols gilt. Er ist gänzlich mit naturbelassenem Holz ausgekleidet: Glatte Dielen, einfache Wandtäfelung und eine kunstvolle Balkendecke prägen den Saal. Im lichten Innenhof stehen eine Kopie eines Mithrassteins aus der Zeit der römischen Eroberungen und ein römischer Meilenstein aus dem Jahr 201 n. Chr. Erwähnenswert sind auch die Hl.-Geist-Spitalkirche und die Pfarrkirche „unsere Liebe Frau im Moos“. Erstere zeichnet sich durch ihre künstlerisch hochwertigen Fresken aus dem 15. Jh. aus, welche in den 80ern im Rahmen einer Restaurierung von früheren Übertünchungen und Restaurierungen freigelegt, gereinigt und gefestigt wurden. Die Pfarrkirche, ursprünglich ein Werk der Romanik, wurde im Laufe der Jahre ständig vergrößert und verschönert. Vor allem der Innenraum sollte durch einen außergewöhnlichen und einzigartigen Altar bestechen. Zufolge einer langen Suche nach dem geeigneten Künstler entschied man sich für den bedeutendsten Holzschnitzer Deutschlands, Hans Multscher, der mit diesem Altar den

Höhepunkt seines Schaffens erreichte. Die berühmten Altartafeln sind heute im Stadt- und Multschermuseum in Sterzing zu besichtigen. Esse sono separate solo da pochi vicoli stretti e talvolta sono persino costruite le une nelle altre. il centro storico dalla città nuova. Edificio significativo dal punto di vista architettonico è il Municipio di Vipiteno con la sala in legno, che è considerata una delle più belle dell’Alto Adige. È completamente rivestita in legno naturale: pavimenti lisci, pareti in legno e un soffitto con travi a vista ornano la sala. Nel luminoso cortile è presente una copia di una Stele del Dio Mitra al tempo delle conquiste romane e una pietra miliare romana del 210 d.C. Inoltre, meritano di essere menzionate la Chiesa di S. Spirito e la Chiesa parrocchiale di “Nostra Signora delle Paludi”. La prima si caratterizza per i suoi pregiati affreschi del XV secolo, che negli anni 80, nel corso di un restauro di precedenti imbiancature e risanamenti, sono stati scoperti, puliti e riportati alla loro originaria bellezza. La Chiesa parrocchiale, in origine opera in stile romanico, nel corso degli anni è stata ampliata e abbellita. In particolare, l’interno avrebbe dovuto vantare un altare unico ed eccezionale. Dopo una lunga ricerca di un artista adatto, si decise per il più importante scultore del legno in Germania, Hans Multscher, che con questo altare raggiunse il culmine della sua creazione. Le celebri pale di altare sono oggi visibili nel Museo Civico e nel Museo Multscher di Vipiteno. In Vipiteno, medieval city of the Fugger dynasty, there is one of the most beautiful streets in the Alps: the Via Città Nuova (New city). Built in the thirteenth century, it was completely destroyed in the fifteenth century by fire and was painstakingly restored thanks to the wealth derived from the mining industry. The result? Majestic

mansions with fine facades, gables and beautiful bay windows, rendering the Vipiteno Città Nuova a truly unique urban enclave. In the past, the Città Nuova was surrounded by a wall with five portals, inside of which the houses are tightly clustered, separated by a few narrow alleys, sometimes even built into one another. The most important of these portals is the door in the Tower of the Twelve, the symbol of Vipiteno, harmoniously separating the old town from the new one. The City Hall of Vipiteno, significant from an architectural point of view, with a distinctive wooden boardroom, is considered one of the most beautiful in South Tyrol. It is completely covered in natural wood: with smooth floors, wooden walls and a ceiling with exposed beams adorning the room. In the bright courtyard there is a copy of a Stele depicting Mithras at the time of the Roman conquests and a Roman milestone dating from 210 AD. In addition, the Church of the Holy Spirit and the parish church of Our Lady of the Marshes are worth a special mention. The first is notable for its exquisite fifteenth century frescoes that have been exposed, cleaned and restored to their former beauty in the 1980's. The parish church, originally in the Romanesque style, has been added to and embellished over the years. In this regard, it was decided that the interior should have a unique and exceptional altar. After a long search for a suitable artist, Hans Multscher, the most important wood sculptor in Germany was chosen and this altar was the zenith of his success. Vista mozzafiato da ammirare | A breathtaking sight to behold Allein schon wegen des atemberaubenden Panoramas ist das Skigebiet Watles einen Besuch wert. Dazu kommen bestens präparierte Pulverschneepisten, ein ausgesprochen leckeres Kulinarium, welches in den zwei gemütlichen Bergrestaurants mit viel Persönlichkeit und Authentizität serviert wird. Ab auf die Piste - die Aussicht ist ein Traum: Die Ortlergruppe im Süden, die Gipfelgruppe um die Weißkugel im Osten und die Schweizer Alpen im Westen. Das ist Watles, der Erlebnisberg der Ferienregion Obervinschgau. Zwei große Liftanlagen und ein Kinderlift mit hervorragend gepflegten Pisten laden Anfänger, Fortgeschrittene, Jugendliche und Kinder zum Vergnügen auf Skiern und Snowboards. Vor allem Kinder kommen voll auf ihre Kosten. Im „Bubo“- Kinderpark stehen ein Skikarusell und ein Schneeiglu für die Kleinen bereit, zudem zwei Zauberteppiche und ein Aufwärmraum. Skitipp Ultental Val d'Ultimo: perfetta per lo sci | Val d'Ultimo: perfect for skiing Das Skigebiet Schwemmalm liegt im Ultental, einem ruhigen Seitental, das von Lana in Richtung Südwesten geht. Das Skigebiet ist ein absoluter Geheimtipp: 25 Pistenkilometer und Naturschneegarantie, das alles bei strahlendem Sonnenschein - das sind die Zutaten für den perfekten Skitag. Das Skigebiet breitet sich auf einer Höhe zwischen 1.500 und 2.650 m aus. Die längste Piste ist fünf Kilometer lang und überwindet 1.100 Höhenmeter: Ein absolutes Muss für jeden Skifahrer und Snowboarder. Der Skikindergarten „Bärenhöhle“ stellt die Skiknirpse in den Mittelpunkt: Spielend lernen die Kleinen das Skifahren. Und gewinnen nebenbei noch eine Menge Freunde. Artisti di tutto il mondo creano nel centro del paese, in diversi punti, imponenti e fantastiche sculture di neve e ghiaccio. Una giuria valuta il miglior artista. I visitatori rimarranno affascinati da queste figure di ghiaccio. The Snow Sculpture Festival in San Candido (Alta Val Pusteria) has a long tradition: The most impressive and fascinating figures are coaxed out of snow and ice from numerous artists coming from all over the world. At the end, a jury decides which artist did the best job. The winner is not all that important, though, because visitors will be awed by the ice-cold yet imposing sculptures.

In den letzten Jahren hat das Telemark Skifahren eine Renaissance erlebt und immer mehr (gute) Skifahrer versuchen sich in diesem Antiken Stil. Am Karerpass treffen sich Freunde des Telemarks und messen einander im freundschaftlichen Wettkampf. Lo stile Telemark è un modo di sciare che deriva da tempo pionieristico dallo sci alpino. Negli ultimi anni il Telemark ha vissuto una rinascita e sempre più (esperti) sciatori si cimentano in questo antico stile. Al Passo di Costalunga si incontrano gli appassionati di Telemark e si misurano gli uni con gli altri in una competizione amichevole. Telemark skiing or free heel skiing is a form of skiing using the telemark turn. It derives from the very beginnings of skiing as a sport. In the past years the telemark skiing style has been revived and more and more skiers are starting to use this old technique. The Carezza Telemark Festival takes place at Passo di Costalunga and gives fans of the telemark style the chance to compete with each other.

Denn auf den Natureisbahnen rauschen die Piloten auf ihren Schlitten in halsbrecherischem Tempo zu Tale. Anders als im ungleich bekannteren Eiskanal sind beim Naturbahnrodeln die Pisten auf gewöhnlichen Wegen angelegt. Am ehesten ist das Naturbahnrodeln mit dem Rallyesport zu vergleichen. Und der ist nichts für schwache Nerven. È un peccato, ma lo slittino su piste naturali non è noto a tutti, anche se è uno sport spettacolare in quanto i piloti scendono la pista ad una velocità veramente agghiacciante. È meglio paragonare i campionati di slittino ad un rally e una cosa è certa: questa competizione non si addice ai deboli di cuore. It’s a pity but Luge on natural tracks is not famous at all even though it’s a very spectacular sport because the pilots speed down the slope at a blood-curdling pace. It’s best to compare the Luge Championships with a sport rally, and one thing is for sure: this competition is not intended for the faint-hearted.

Moonlight ClassiC 25.01.2013 Seiser Alm · Alpe di Siusi Die Seiser Alm ist die größte Hochalm in Europa und ein international bekanntes und beliebtes Langlaufgebiet. Seit einigen Jahren wird auf der Seiser Alm ein Nachtrennen durchgeführt. Die Loipen werden mit Fackeln beleuchtet, wodurch eine ganz besondere Stimmung erzeugt wird. L’Alpe di Siusi è il più elevato altopiano alpino d’Europa e, quindi, molto noto e popolare per lo sci di fondo. Due anni fa è stata instituita una tradizionale gara in notturna. La gara di sci di fondo è illuminata con torce e l’evento offre un’atmosfera veramente speciale. Alpe di Suisi is the largest high altitude Alpine meadow in Europe and therefore a well-known and popular place for cross-country skiing. A couple of years ago a traditional night race was instituted. The crosscountry ski run is illuminated with torches and the event offers a truly special atmosphere.

In Klobenstein hat schon so manche große Karriere begonnen und es können Wetten abgeschlossen werden, dass auch bei dieser Veranstaltung neue Sterne aufgehen werden. La pista outdoor sul ghiaccio più veloce del mondo è situata a Collalbo (parte del paese del Renon). È regolarmente lo scenario delle gare internazionali di pattinaggio di velocità e a febbraio 2013 ospiterà la Junior World Cup (dopo aver ospitato i campionati europei nel 2007 e nel 2011). Alcune grandi carriere sono iniziate proprio a Collalbo e non ci sono dubbi che questa volta nasceranno nuove stelle. The fastest outdoor ice rink of the world is located in Collalbo (part of the village Renon). It is regularly the scene of international Speed Skating Races and in February 2013 it will be hosting the Junior World Cup (after having hosted the European Championships in 2007 and 2011). Some big careers began in Collalbo and there's no doubt that this time new stars will be born as well.
