CHELSEA MARKET CONCOURSE
In This Issue: Openings, Events & More
New Faces, New Food Let's meet a few of the market's newest tenants
Bar Suzette Bar Suzette was created in 2009 by friends, Peter Tondreau & Troi Lughod, who were searching for a way to showcase their love of global flavors. They first opened Bar Suzette as a month-long pop-up in Flatiron and followed up with another month-long pop-up in Union Square. After many repeat customers voiced their appreciation, they decided that they would continue to fill their delectable crĂŞpes with creative
fillings at a more permanent location. When the opportunity to open a location at the Chelsea Market arrived, they knew it was their chance to be amongst the best food establishments and specialty vendors in the city, so they jumped right in. Now they can be found 7 days a week at Chelsea Market, and have continued to evolve their menu to include cuisines from South America, Asia, North Africa and the Mediterranean.
People's Pops What began as a oneday experiment between friends in 2008 has evolved into a popular, ever-changing palette of appealing seasonal flavors. The yummy pops are still made by the original three friends who believe that fresh, local ingredients are the key to fantastic-tasting ice-pops and shave-ice. The new kiosk in Chelsea Market offers pops and shaved ice for your enjoyment in-store or take-home, as well as catering, wholesale and delivery services year-round.

Making A Difference
The partnership between Fulton Youth of the Future and Chelsea Market continues with the return of YouthMarket and a new garden initiative
T
his past winter, Robert Torres and Fernando Alaya, receipients of the James Beard Foundation/ Fulton Youth of the Future culinary scholarship, helped prepare a reception for New York first lady Michelle Paige's initiative "Healthy Steps to Albany." The experience was another big step in a culinary journey that began years ago when a partnership between Chelsea Market and Robert Fulton Houses helped create the scholarships. In addition to helping fund the culinary scholarships, the partnership between Chelsea Market and Fulton Houses also includes the popular YouthMarket, back for another season beginning Saturday, July 10th and a new garden initiative, in which kids learn about healthy eating by helping to cultivate their own flowers, herbs and vegetables.

West Village CSA
Helmed by Alexandra Zissu, author of "The Conscious Kitchen," West Village CSA relocates to Robert Fulton Houses
I
n 1985, a few entrepreneurial farmers imported a decades-old Japanese innovation in which community members support a farmer by purchasing “shares” of the harvest. Today, there are upwards of 1,000 CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) groups in North America, revitalizing small farms and providing quality produce to 150,000 families. One of these CSA groups is West Village CSA, which relocated this year to Fulton Houses at 119 9th Avenue, near 17th Street. Founded by an initiative at St. Vincent's and currently managed by Alexandra Zissu, the 10-year-old West Village CSA is thrilled with their new digs. West Village gets its produce from Stoneledge Farm, a 100 acre, certified organic farm located in South Cairo, Greene County, New York. Members receive weekly deliveries of in-season vegetables, fruit, coffee, honey and maple syrup. Cost is determined on a sliding scale, and each share consists of enough produce to feed a family of 2-4. For more information, including pricing, visit: www. stoneledgefarmny.com
