C

onsistently voted Atlanta’s #1 Pilates studio, Studio Lotus believes that good Pilates changes your body, while great Pilates changes everything. While delivering great Pilates is the cornerstone of what they do, their mission is broader: the liberation of the human spirit and the realization of individual potential. They do this with a team of inspired teachers utilizing intelligent tools and integrated methods to teach what they believe to be the first requisite of happiness: physical fitness. Studio Lotus also provides Redcord training, a revolutionary functional exercise technique that is popular throughout Europe and Asia, but is

only taught in a handful of places here in the United States. Redcord, which is often used in Olympic training, uses a system of ropes and slings to position the body in a controlled, pain-free environment. This enables instructors to help clients address muscle imbalances and improve core stability by activating the correct muscles— at the correct time—in the correct amount. Beginning this month, Studio Lotus will now offer small group training, including Reformer Classes and their signature Cardio Circuit & Reformer Class, in addition to their staples of Pilates Mat and Kettlebells. Visit them online at studiolotus.com to check out their new offerings and end the summer better than you began it!

THE STEvEN STEINMAN PROJECT SPACE

Sculptor/Photographer Steven Steinman has maintained a project space on Zonolite Road since the 1990’s. We ventured over to his space during the last First Friday event and were completely blown away.

W

hen Steven Steinman purchased his project space at 1178 Zonolite Place, he found an old advertising poster for (Safe! Easy!) Zonolite Attic Insulation propped in one corner. That little bit of history is just one of the many curiosities Steven has cultivated his workshop. Steve has maters degrees from both the Rhode Island School of Design and the Pratt Institute. His day job as Program Chair at American Intercontinental University has never slowed him down as an artist. He describes himself as “prolific,” and he spends several hours each day creating art in his Zonolite Place project space. Pop by his studio to introduce yourself and to get a look at his many collections, as well as his most recent sculpture series, Broken Circles, which was recently on exhibit as Mason Muir Gallery. BOi TIPS V O L #

&

D A T E

Wit and wisdom by property manager Jan McCurry’s emotionally evolved alter ego “Boi.”

O

kay, people. Y’all know I like to kid around. However, this quarter’s Boi column is no joking matter.

3. Keep a clean car. This means, never leave valuables in your car in plain sight. Let’s take a moment to break down that sentence, people. • Note the word “never.” Never means “not ever”. Not for 5 minutes while you “run into” your place of work. Not at night. Not during the day. Never! • What is a valuable? A laptop, for sure, is a valuable. But just maybe so is a chapstick! Err on the side of caution. • “Plain sight:” Tucked under your driver’s seat with the cord hanging out is still in plain sight! 4. A couple of years ago, tenants at 1123 elected to raise their CAM charges to pay for security cameras. If tenants at 1145 or 1075 would like to explore something similar, TuckerMott is happy to price what the increase might be. The cameras aren’t fool proof (they are low-res, and it’s hard to identify faces); however, they have been very useful in helping us gather more information (including license numbers and general descriptions)—and this information has been useful when we’ve had to file police reports.

We’ve had a couple of security incidents lately, so I wanted to take some time to remind you of some basic, common-sense security precautions that you should take, and which you should encourage your employees to take. 1. If you see anything or anyone who seems suspicious, don’t hesitate to dial 911. If you’re unsure whether it’s “important enough” to report, err on the side of caution. 2. At the very least, text me (or call me) at (678) 296-4944 to report anything suspicious. Make sure that all your employees have my direct line, so that they can report to me directly.
