Meet Megan Fogel Interior Designer Megan Fogel has been living in and loving Midtown for the past 8 years
Q: Ever spotted any celebrities in Midtown? A: I haven’t seen any celebrities lately but I see the film crews all over! I did hear Matt Damon and Jude Law are in town… so I’m on the look out!
Q: Describe yourself in 5 words or less: A: Active, endearing, lover of life! Q: What’s the coolest new thing that’s opened up or happened in Midtown in the past year? A: I love the opening of the midtown market outside 999 Peachtree on Wednesdays. And of course it’s always exciting having such amazing exhibits open up regularly at the High Museum, such as the Dali exhibit. I was able to go to the Dali send off recently when the High was open for 31 straight hours -- nothing like going to see great art at 3:30 am!
Q: Most bizarre Midtown Moment? A: That would probably be taking my Grandma for gelato during Pride Weekend. Nothing like enjoying a treat with your very conservative grandmother while a man in a patent leather thong starts dancing next to her! Being the epitome of a lady that she is, she just kept on with her conversation as if it were nothing out of the ordinary. 6

ART R
ight in the heart of Midtown, the Atlanta campus of SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design) offers aspiring students a comprehensive art and design education. With 42 majors and more than 40 minors, SCAD boasts more degree programs and specializations than any other art university in the world. SCAD graduates display work in galleries around the world and enjoy varied careers in their fields of choice. One case is point is SCAD graduate Michael Porten (M.F.A., painting, B.F.A., illustration). Porten's work, "Blur Stripe Self Portrait I" is featured in SCAD's upcoming showcase "deFINE ART" taking place February 22-26, 2011.
Now in it's second year, deFINE ART 2011 features lectures by prominent figures in the art world, special exhibitions, commissions, panel discussions, student showcases, performances and many other events, which will be previewed at venues throughout the university's locations in Savannah and Atlanta. deFINE ART 2011 will also honor performance artist Marina Abramović for her ground-breaking work and influence on contemporary art. Another signature feature of deFINE ART is a series of public talks by leading art world professionals. Speakers include Gary Tinterow (Engelhard Curator, Metropolitan Museum of Art), Sarah Thornton (author of "Seven Days in the Art World"), and Sarah Lewis (independent curator and
crtic). Rounding out the deFINE ART experience are multimedia performances by Paul D. Miller (DJ Spooky that Subliminal Kid) and a series of exhibitions in the SCAD Galleries. In addition to exciting events such as deFINE ART, SCAD also offers a multitude of educational experiences geared toward degree-seeking students as well as open enrollment classes and workshops for you, teens and adults interested in personal enrichment.
