Sending Your Big Kids off to College? Dress up your big kid’s dorm room with a touch of home from Pine Cone Hill at Terra Cottage

O

nce upon a time college dorm rooms - cluttered with milk crate bookshelves, sticky soda-stained bean bag chairs and leftover pizza boxes - were a decorator’s nightmare. Today’s kids have it better. At the most recent Westside Provisions District festival, Terra Cottage owner

Sandie Hurlburt raffled off a $1,000 college dorm room makeover. “Pine Cone Hill has the most amazing bedding,” says Hurlburt. “It’s homey but sophisticated and the price point makes it affordable for a college dorm.” Hurlburt has decked out three twin beds in the back of her exquisite Westside Urban Market boutique with fresh, fun Pine Cone Hill patterns and designs. Hurlburt also recommends Dash & Albert rugs, fun lamps and hand made screen prints or wall hangings to send your college bound kid off with style. For more information, follow Terra Cottage on facebook or visit: terracottagellc.com.

Inspiration Mashburn

Westside Urban Market is all abuzz about the opening of Ann Mashburn’s new women’s boutique

S

id Mashburn introduced Westside Provisions District to the classicmeets-modern Mashburn aesthetic when he opened his popular haberdashery in 2007. Now, his wife Ann, a top notch designer in her own right, extends the brand with her own mix of quality women’s wear. Opened in June, 2010, Ann Mashburn’s boutique has already been featured in Garden & Gun, Atlanta Homes and other great publications. In

Ann’s store is an inspiration board of fashion icons, bold colors, folk art scrawls and sepia toned beach scenes; one can literally see the type of laidback glamour that inspired Ann to create the perfectly fitting, timeless pieces that make up her eponymous label. annmashburn.com

The Chiles Are Coming!

Celebrate the unique flavor of New Mexican Hatch chiles at Taqueria del Sol Sunday, September 12

“H

ave you ever tasted a Hatch Chile?” asks Mike Klank, owner of Taqueria del Sol. “No other chile taste like a Hatch chile.” So great is Klank’s devotion to the Hatch chile (Hatch, New Mexico is known as the “chile capital of the world”) that he makes an annual event of the harvest, bringing in pallets of the spicy green peppers each year to roast seasonally at Taqueria del Sol. This year, Taqueria del Sol’s Westside location will host a Hatch Chile Festival from 5:30-8:30pm on Sept. 12 with live music, delicious roasted chiles and more. For more information, visit taqueriadelsol.com.

Faces of WSPD

Meet Stacie Lindner and Stuart Horodner (managing and artistic directors respectively) of the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center

Q: Tell us something we don’t know about the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center. A: ACAC public programs feature consequential arts professionals lecturing on a variety of topics. These talks are often scheduled in the evenings on our Free Thursdays. We also have a Studio Artist Program where we support 14 local artists by providing studio space at reasonable rates. Q: What are you exhibiting this fall? A: This summer through fall we are featuring solo exhibitions by Shana Robbins and Amy Myers, who each make contemplative and labor-intensive art. Robbins’s performances, videos, and drawings are inspired by mythology, fashion, and the natural world. Myers’s complex drawings take their cues from physics, botanicals, and technology. Later in the fall, we’ll be presenting a film installation by Laura Poitras, outrageous photographs by Steve Aishman and Jaimie Warren, and a massive architectural sculpture by Mia Feuer.

Stacie loves a good rooftop view and the Westside has some killer views! Stuart highly recommends the panini sandwiches at Toscano and Sons Italian Market.

Designer Tips from Room & Board

Want to make a décor change but have no idea where to start? Bring a photo of the room you’d like to redecorate and the designers at Room & Board will help you decide.

T

rying to furnish an awkward space in your house? Want to add some life and interest to a room but need a little help getting started? Room & Board offers complimentary design services, including floor planning and material selection, to help you create the perfect space. Whether you’re choosing an accent piece or redesigning an entire room, our Design Associates will work with you every step of the way. One of our favorite and sometimes overlooked solutions is the

sectional. Super versatile and a great way to maximize space, Hayes is one of our favorites. Enjoy modern relaxation with Hayes. The deep, plush cushions provide exceptional comfort, while details like stainless steel legs and a low profile give it a streamlined design: • individual pieces available by special order • blend-down wrapped foamand-spring cushion • loose back • stainless steel legs www.roomandboard.com 6

Going Glam (Con’t)

Spotlight: Office

Maison Atlanta senior designer Bryan Kirkland offers 3 ways to glam up the interior of your home

While the main focus of this newsletter will always be on the shopping and dining amenities you’ll find at Westside Provisions District, we also wanted to take a moment to let you know what a great place White Provision is to work. But, don’t take our word for it. Check out what one of our newest tenants, Fried & Bonder, has to say about what they do and what drew them to WSPD.

An alluring setting: Global Views shows us how the use of one color can enhance your entire room. Here a stainless steel Flower Table is surrounded by Marilyn side and arm chairs in ivory leather layered upon an Arabesque Rug in rich orange tones surrounded by accessories in the same hue.

F

ried & Bonder specializes in civil litigation, with a focus on business, employment and personal injury cases. F&B prides itself on achieving results for its clients, which range from Fortune 100 companies to small businesses to individuals. The firm relocated to the White Provision building in Nov. 2009 and its partners— all Emory graduates and longtime Atlanta residents—are proud and excited to be part of the Westside’s revival. Partner David Fried considers the White Provision building an excellent fit for the firm, which prides itself on its flexible and creative approach to solving clients’ legal problems. “We all left larger firms to start this firm, and our goal was to create an environment where we had the freedom and flexibility to handle the cases we want in the manner that we think best serves our clients’ needs.” To learn more, visit www.friedbonder.com.

A true study on glamour: A pair of chairs aptly named Masquerade with white lacquer frames and fuchsia fabric paired with an exquisite Dressing Chest in powder blue lacquer all from the Century Furniture Collection. The finishing touch is a painting from CHC Designs. Pure seduction:

Welcome Christopher Guy to the glam squad at Maison Atlanta. This breath taking line of home furnishings is the ultimate in glamour. From the way the Chris-X legs are majestically enhanced by a concealed silk-cut back to the hand carved details that blend masterfully with his lacquered dining table and accessories.
