Although SkiBound has been operating for 30 years, it’s the experience of our staff that sets us apart from the rest. The majority of our management team have been involved in the school skiing industry for longer than they care to remember, building exceptional relationships with Party Leaders, resort staff and suppliers. Our extensive experience enables us to work in partnership with you to provide the perfect ski trip that you and your students deserve.
Expert advice We pride ourselves on having the most experienced sales team within the school ski industry. Our enthusiastic, knowledgeable and passionate staff, headed up by our experienced sales manager David Plommer, will support you throughout the entire booking process. Either face-to-face with our Regional Account Managers or over the phone with our expert office-based team, we will listen to your requests and recommend a resort that best suits your needs, budget and ski tour requirements. The majority of our sales members have been with us for many years and have visited most of our featured resorts, enabling them to pass on insightful information about your preferred destination.
dinators r o o C r u o T d Dedicate Once you have confirmed your booking with us, you will be assigned a dedicated tour coordinator who will handle all the pre-tour administration of your school ski trip. Your personal tour coordinator will be your main point of contact and is on hand to discuss, or answer, any queries regarding the finer details of your trip; such as flights, coaches, rooming, ski lessons, evening entertainment options. They will be able to provide your group with all the ‘added extras’ that will make your school ski trip that extra bit special – from tour hoodies, to pre-ordering your groups travel money. Detail is key and the role of your tour coordinator is ensure that everything is addressed before you depart the UK, ensuring that you have a stress-free experience whilst in resort.
am Operations Te Our Operations Team, led by Andy Burns, is packed with experience, local knowledge and excellent contacts, as well as a thorough understanding of what school groups want from their ski trip. With permanent offices in the French Alps and in the heart of the Austrian Alps, as well as a strong presence in each of our other territories throughout the year, the team’s focus is to ensure that we are working with carefully selected airlines, coach companies and overseas suppliers in the best ski resorts. In addition to the intensive planning and preparation ahead of your tour, the Operations Team will ensure that we have professional, dedicated and fun resort staff on hand to support your group throughout the duration of the trip.
m Resort Tea We follow a rigorous recruitment process to ensure that we provide the best possible in-resort team. We look for enthusiastic, passionate people who can deliver outstanding customer service. Once selected, all of our reps undergo the relevant background checks and take part in a thorough training course which includes Child Protection and Health & Safety. We have an extensive list of experienced reps who continue to work with us year after year – often requested by our groups following excellent performances from previous years. In the event of unlikely and unexpected incidents, our reps are fully supported by our Resort Area Managers, local offices, UK office and the TUI Duty Office.

Marcus Tinsley
Headmaster - Party Leader for 34 years
The quality of SkiBound’s Clubhotels are consistent year on year, with development of the service something the company takes seriously. Investment in the hotels is evident and feedback from schools is worked upon wherever reasonable. The locations are good, especially from the Party Leaders point of view in terms of piste side, snow record and access to après-ski.

I had previously been with another school ski company for a long period of time but decided to change this year to SkiBound. I must say we have just had the most fantastic we have ever had and this was down to the professionalism and care showed to us from the moment we booked to the moment we left the resort.

Fantastic food
Thanks for a great trip to Sunday River. Our rep Sarah was absolutely brilliant, helpful, kind and nothing was a problem. We love the Skilt in Les Menuires, Kevin & Sue and all the staff are wonderful. It is the best school ski hotel bar none. The instructors at Sauze d’Oulx have been the best I’ve experienced in my 15 years of running school ski trips. The meals at the Belle Aurore were fantastic, even with dietary requirements. Staff very willing to give bigger portions which went down well with the students (and the staff!).

All our food is glorious!! Our philosophy is simple; to provide healthy nutritional meals to even the most demanding of pallets. To achieve this, our Clubhotel menus have been carefully designed and developed over numerous years of experience and input from our Party Leaders. Our chefs are also fully conversant with the many special dietary requirements now seen as standard, with most requirements easily catered for. All of our staff understands the importance of various food intolerances and allergies, which are handled with ease and sensitivity. Please feel free to discuss anything with your tour coordinator and if you would like, our chefs and hotel managers will be happy to get in touch directly. With our standard Clubhotel tour package, we typically provide a continental breakfast, hot lunch and a two-course evening meal. However, any of these options can be upgraded to suit your catering requirements.

In-house ski fit with the very best kit from Salomon One of the great benefits of choosing a SkiBound Clubhotel is that we own, maintain and store all of the ski equipment in-house – so you won’t get snowed on going to a ski-fit at our Clubhotels! With a massive investment made each year, we always stock the right sizes and ranges and our qualified Salomon ski technicians are on-hand to ensure that the right equipment is supplied to all abilities (from the nervous novice to the aspiring Olympian). Snowboarders may have to pick up their kit from a local hire shop, but we will ensure that everything is arranged prior to your group arriving in resort. We are delighted to announce that we are currently using Salomon Relax and X Drive 7.5R skis, boots and poles from one of the world’s leading ski equipment manufacturers – Salomon.

With 7 different ski areas to choose from and more blue sky days than a marketing meeting, Alpe d’Huez is indeed one of the top locations for school ski groups. Choice is everything and thanks to a series of excellent lift systems your group will be treated to a splendid array wide open cruisers and challenging steeps to help all of their winter dreams come true. If ever there was a ski area to encourage wary beginners from their comfortable cabins it has to be Alpe d’Huez. In fact from the first stop of the Télécabine des Grande Rousses (DMC to the locals) there are no less than seven wide green pistes nearly a mile long rolling back to the centre station. The centre bowl of Alpe d’Huez can be likened to a saucer and the simple rule is that the higher you go, the steeper it gets! All in all you’ll find over 230kms of skiable piste to choose from and once you leave the picture perfect pine-lined runs of Vaujauny and Auris there are a further 50kms of intermediate to advanced runs just begging to make your acquaintance. With the longest black run in Europe and 700 snow cannons pumping out the white stuff, Alpe d’Huez is pretty much the best that France has to offer.
The facts...

The après-ski is awesome and flood-lit night sledging, snow laser quest and night skiing has to be tried at least once. Other options after dark include: ice-skating, swimming and indoor high ropes. Alternatively, relax back at your Clubhotel with a chocolat chaud or party-on-down until your hearts content.

As you’d expect from a resort that’s part of the enormous Three Valleys ski area, Les Menuires has plenty for everyone and a little bit more if you’re willing to explore. This really is an excellent purpose-built resort and boasts some of the most popular pistes in the entire region which means that staying local is pretty much the done thing in these parts. Aside from the downhill options the après-ski is considered rather good too and, with a wide range of activities to choose from, you won’t be left wanting whatever the time of day. Thanks to some well-considered architectural design you’ll discover your accommodation is right next to the nursery slopes so rolling out of bed before rolling downhill couldn’t be easier. Once you’ve put early disasters to one side it will be time to move onwards and upwards to a magnificent interlinked array of red, blue and green runs which allow you to develop at a level and speed which suits you. Experts will find just shy of 10kms at their disposal but to get some real kicks it’s recommended that you explore the rest of the Three Valleys which promise absolute advanced awesomeness. The local sports complex is state-of-the-art and home to swimming pools, steam rooms and Jacuzzis as well as options to hire the indoor sports hall. If you’re looking for cinemas and bowling both are a short distance away however, discos, pizzerias and loads of shops provide ample excuses to stay close to home once the day is done.

You may or may not know that Serre Chevalier is actually the collective name for just over a dozen villages and hamlets which are dotted along the Guisane Valley, like freshly-baked croissants in a patisserie window. But enough talk of French fancies, the real star of this show is over 250kms of skiable piste which opens up a vast array of terrain in some quite fantastical pine-pitted scenery. Feel on top of the world (well, Europe at least) with a visit to BrianÇon. At 1,326m, this is the highest city in the EU, steeped in history and well worth exploring. With wondrously wide nursery slopes and excellent ski schools, Serre Chevalier offers groups the perfect introduction to winter sports within a truly gorgeous location. With two swooping bowls in Villeneuve and Chantemerle there are loads of chances to practise without getting lost and, as you progress and explore the mountainside, you’ll find some excellent intermediate runs above the tree line. If you fancy an advanced experience then check out the Olympic black runs at Chantemerle although the terrain at Monétier-les- Bains is equally as hair-raising. Big air, natural half-pipes and all the lumps and bumps that you’d expect from a snowpark can be found in the Alpage sector which means that whatever level or whatever mode of transport, Serre Chevalier’s got it tapped.

With an elevation of 3200m, The Mont de Lans Glacier is Europe’s largest skiable glacier, promising awesome skiing conditions whatever the time of year. In fact, Les Deux Alpes can be described as a unique resort as this ‘upside down’ ski area isn’t like your standard French resort. All-in-all you’ll find over 220kms of piste to choose from, including some excellent nursery slopes for those getting to grips with the basics. The local ski schools are excellent and after a few days of yo-yo practise you’ll be ready to tackle the tougher terrain. As the sun sets on yet another perfect day the après-ski continues in the same vein, with a lively atmosphere and après-ski scene spread across the 2km long main street. Of course, there’s more to Zell am See than mere scenery alone and a ride on the Areitbahn Gondola will take beginners to the perfect place to start their lessons. Neighbouring Kaprun has some excellent nursery slopes and once those jelly legs have been conquered, the heavenly heights of Maiskogel await. Intermediates will no doubt deem the wide swoops of Schmittenhöhe too brilliant to bear and with 8km descents and a devilish 1,200 vertical drop, hold on to your hats as things are about to get hairy. Schmittenhöhe is awesome for advanced skiers too and moguls, and some wicked tree-flanked runs all compete for the attention of the big boys. Finally, it’s difficult to come to Zell am See and not take the stunning Kitzsteinhorn Glacier into account and from darn fine snow-sure conditions to mind-blowing views of Hohe Tauern National Park, a trip to over 3000 metres will no doubt prove to be one of your highest of highlights. School groups love Zell am See and, with a pedestrianized zone containing numerous bars, cafés, shops and restaurants, who can blame them? Après-ski activities are everywhere with swimming, bowling, ice-skating, tobogganing and discos all providing plenty of good times long into the evening.

If you’re looking for quintessential Austria, where snow falls in abundance and strudels appear to grow on trees, then look no further than Oberlungau as this resort is as authentic as they come. Offering a wide range of accommodation and activities, it’s easy to see why school groups can’t stay away. All levels are catered for and thanks to a thoroughly modern lift system you’ll be able to take advantage of not one but three ski areas: Katschberg, Grosseck-Speiereck and Fanningberg. After excellent ski tutelage, wobbly legs will quickly develop confidence and in no time at all they’ll be leaving the nursery slopes and heading for the uncrowded and forgiving pistes of Fanningberg. The wide open reds of Katschberg present intermediates with more of a gradient and taking the 6km A1 all the way down to St Margarethen is quite possibly the best ride in the Alps. Thanks to an awesome new gondola, the Grosseck-Speiereck top station is achievable in less than 10 minutes and if you change your mind about skiing down, you can always get a return ticket. Après-ski is split between Tamsweg, St Michael and Mauterndorf so depending on what your group are into: bowling, swimming, ice-skating and snow-tubing, you’ll be able to mix and match to suit your mood. No matter what your level of expertise, you’ll find an enormous amount of choice and with loads of options for beginners, there’s no finer area to develop from snowploughs to parallels. School groups are pretty much the main occupants here so don’t fret about getting in the way of any aspiring speed demons. Those making their first tracks tend to start in either Zauchensee, Flachau or Radstadt (depending on where they are staying) before progressing to Flachauwinkl. Intermediates and quick learners will undoubtedly thrive in Sportwelt as an abundance of reds and blues make up the lion’s share of well-groomed terrain. The more advanced runs of Zauchensee will probably call out to the experts and when they hear they’re regularly used on the World Cup circuit stand back for the inevitable rush for the lifts. Thankfully, queuing is almost extinct here so there’s no need to panic and with four bodacious terrain parks for the boarders, everything’s coming up Sportwelt. Bowling, swimming, ice-skating, tobogganing and making shapes on the dance floor provide the order of the après-ski and if you fancy an evening of culture then the scintillating city of Salzburg is just a couple of hours away.

These gnarly runs are regarded as some of the most challenging in the area and if you dare to take on the 80% gradients of Nova and Schwarköpfle then may the force be with you. Finally, no trip to the valley would be complete without undertaking the world’s longest ski tunnel, which cuts an impressive 473 metre ‘short-cut’ right through the heart of the mountain. Montafon is a real ‘must ski’ for the purists and from traditional Alpine villages to plenty of freeriding and off-piste hot spots, destinations don’t get much more sought-after than this. With loads of après-ski options this is the ultimate in Austrian adventures and once you try the home-made sausages and mountain cheese there will be no turning back.

Milky Way
When you have the Milky Way at your disposal the desire to explore can sometimes be too much to bear. However, before you venture off into the wide blue yonder make sure you make the most of Clavière’s slopes first. From sunny nursery slopes to skiing options above 2000metres, there’s plenty of fun to be had right on your snow-covered doorstep. This is a truly hospitable and friendly skiing village nestled between Turin and the French border and if the prospect of taking a school group into the unknown is slightly daunting then rest assured that you’ll find the welcome as warm and generous as the local cuisine. Yes, the Milky Way ski area promises over 400kms of skiable terrain however, with plenty of snow-sure slopes closer to home staying local can sometimes mean making the most of your day. The nursery slopes on the outskirts of the village promise sunshine and forgiving descents and once you grow in stature you'll find an innumerate amount of interlinking blues and reds providing the perfect pistes for progression. Of course, if you feel the need for speed then the Milky Way is no more than a chairlift away but rest assured, options in resort need to be tried and tested prior to exploring further afield.
Traditional and friendly après-ski in the form of pizzerias, bars and ice-skating all add up to a whole heap of loveliness and if you’re looking for a livelier scene then skip over the border to France where Montgenèvre is waiting to put a spring in your snow boot.
t... a y a t S Hotel Miramonti Distance to the slopes: 30m from the lifts This intimate hotel is perfect for school groups, situated in an elevated position above Clavière and only a 10 minute walk to the Milky Way lifts. As you’d expect from a typical Italian ski resort, traditions are everything and as Bardonecchia was the host of the first ever Italian Ski Championships, you won’t get more old-school than here. First-class skiing, a genuinely warm welcome and hot chocolate that you can stand your spoon up in; what more could you ask for? You’ll find over 100kms of skiable terrain, contained within three snow-sure areas, which means that everyone from spaghetti legs to meat balls will find the right gradient to suit their level. Under the eagle eyes of English-speaking instructors, newbies can access the lower slopes of Campo Smith before progressing onwards and upwards to the reds and blues of Melezet. Colomion promises a few challenges for the advanced ladies and gentlemen as the legendary Fisi 50 World Cup red run is waiting to make their acquaintance. If you fancy giving your knees a good-old jarring then the entrances to the upper runs of Cresta Seba and Pra Magnan are well-known for their lumps and bumps. All runs lead back to base station level and, when snow conditions are in your favour, skiing the full 1450 vertical is just the best way to cap the day.

Everyone has their Italian favourites and from Michelangelo to Isabella Rossellini, if you’ve been lucky enough to experience even the tiniest notion of la dolce vita, then you’ll invariably be already smitten. For our ski groups, Passo Tonale is undoubtedly numero uno and if you’re a fan of snow-sure pistes, uncrowded lifts and excellent après-ski, then prepare your heart for love. As one of the highest resorts in Italy, snow is practically guaranteed and with over 100kms of piste to choose from, groups will find plenty to suit all abilities. As ski schools are a mere snowball’s throw from the hotel, beginners won’t have far to travel and once they’ve got the hang of it, lots of progressive reds are waiting onwards and upwards. For the already ski-sure Cima Bleis and the Valbiolo Valley offer some cracking challenges as well as plenty of stunning snow-covered vistas. The lift system is excellent and includes a cosy 4-seater option as well as the Paradiso cable car. If you are taking the cable car, be sure to look down as for your in-ride viewing pleasure a formidable black run has been placed right underneath. With powder bowls and snowparks for boarders, as well as some gorgeous glaciers for experts, enjoy your time here as it will go all too quickly. Day trips to Lake Garda and resplendent Verona are easily accessible and further après-ski alternatives, including: swimming, ice-skating, discos, and those all-important pizza evenings, make for a thoroughly well-rounded and enjoyable trip.

If you’re looking for a resort that’s fairly close to a couple of Europe’s most-sophisticated cities then you may want to cast your eye over Prato Nevoso, as from sunshine to snowboarding, this relatively unknown quantity’s is becoming a firm favourite with our groups. As the host of the 2005 Junior Snowboard Championships and the home of the Italian Snowboard Club, there are loads of chances for wannabe Shaun Whites to grab some air-time including some expert tutors who are ready and willing to help you on your snowboard journey into awesomeness. Although Prato’s not the biggest of resorts, when combined with neighbouring Artesina and Fabroso Soprana there’s more than enough to keep even the pros contented. The beginners in your group maybe pleased to hear that the rather extreme-sounding Juggernaut run is just for them although, as it’s over 6 miles long, they may not wish to tackle it in entirety on their first day. Most greens start from one of six connected peaks which gives everyone the chance to enjoy those all-important views. As newbies develop they’ll find plenty of swooping intermediate cruisers and mellow curves to fine tune their craft however, the likes of Lower Ovation, Superstar and Killington Peak maybe out of their reach at this early stage. From double-diamond drops to double-black diamond moguls, Bear Mountain is where the big boys like to let it all hang out. Finally, if you’re all about the kicks and the flicks then Timberline and Easy Street snowboard parks have the lot, including a 425ft long super pipe – awesome! Après-ski is simply what Killington does best with ice-skating, discos, bowling and cinemas providing plenty of entertainment after dark. Of course, you’ll find pizzerias in abundance and if you’ve got a sweet tooth then just remember that you’re in Vermont, the spiritual home of maple syrup.

Salt Lake City, where the runs are groomed and the views are pretty; ah yes, welcome to Utah’s finest ski resort, Brighton. This is a completely unique skiing experience and thanks to the resort’s ‘back to basics’ policy you’ll find an unpretentious and extremely wellmaintained set of trails and natural features that offer skiing the way that nature intended.
