European Destinations
History, Battlef ields &Classics
Geography
Modern Foreign Languages
Our European programme showcases our most popular educational and exciting tours. From Paris to Prague, Berlin to Barcelona – we have a destination to suit your educational needs. Our exclusive Château du Molay, set in private parkland deep within the Normandy countryside and only 14km from Bayeux and the D-Day landing beaches, is the perfect base for a History, MFL or Cuisine tour. Whether you are searching for a trip by subject or destination, we have everything you’ll need in order to offer your students a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ experience.
Geography literally means ‘writing the earth’ and by travelling on our one of our geography tours, students will be stimulated to create more accurate and creative descriptions of locations, processes and landforms. The environments visited on our tours offer a vivid and dramatic contrast to the everyday: the diversity of the world’s great cities, cultures and natural landscapes are brought into sharp focus. Students conditioned to the Middle Eastern environment will experience the variety of climates that occur in other parts of the world. From the chill off the glaciers of Iceland to the diverse climate of China, all the students’ senses will be stimulated.

Take your history lessons to another level with one of our inspiring history or classics tours. History fires pupils’ curiosity and imagination, moving and inspiring them with the dilemmas, choices and beliefs of people in the past. A history trip with Travelbound will help students develop their own identities through an understanding of history at personal, local, national and international levels. It will help them to ask and answer questions of the present by engaging with the past and encourage mutual understanding of the historic origins of our ethnic and cultural diversity.
Languages are part of the cultural richness of our society and the world in which we live and work. School trips provide excellent practice for language students, enabling them to appreciate different countries, cultures, communities and people. Using the language in real situations will boost students’ skills and confidence enormously, whilst listening to the locals helps to improve students’ pronunciation and intonation. The ability to understand and communicate in another language is a lifelong skill for education, employment and leisure in this country and throughout the world, highlighting the importance of MFL school trips.

Educational Enrichment / Your Week Without Walls Learning outside of the classroom has been identified as a way to excite young people and deepen their understanding of classroom subjects. “Students’ learning becomes real; the experience becomes meaningful and more ingrained. They are able to be part of the deeper learning experience. There are no walls, no bells, they can use all their senses, I know that the trips I have been lucky enough to organise will be the experiences they take with them after their five years at secondary school. I’m proud to have been a part of that”. Kieran Felton, Worldwide Party Leader Our tours have been structured with this in mind and are designed to help you link your tour to key concepts as well as the curriculum your school is covering, should that be the National Curriculum for England, IB International Curriculum (CAS) and the American curriculum. We support you in developing student’s personal learning and thinking skills as outlined below: Independent enquiry - In several towns and within the smaller cities, Travelbound’s Young Reporter project and town trails are possible. Creative thinking - For each destination, we have suggested ways in which your group can add CAS hours related to creativity. Reflective learning - A visit to Auschwitz is a prime example of reflective learning. The education centre, reflects on the dangers and consequences of xenophobia and anti-Semitism. Team work - You will see several examples running through our programme where team work is essential to the task in hand, such as on-site team building activities at our château du Molay and the Big Adventure Day in Oman. Self-management - Students learn Independence on any school trip by being away from family, managing their own money and property, and developing relationships with their peers. Key to any successful tour is the respect a student shows for the cultures and places they are visiting. Effective participation - Running through our programme are many examples of educational workshops and classes such as acting, cookery, language and traditional dance.
